It would just be a bit of an ass pull to try and explain why the Fairy Pokemon wasn't a Fairy type until 10 years after. Is Prof. Oak just not good at his job? And how many Pokemon will have to be retconned?

Ultimately, I wouldn't care if they did retcon in a new type. All I'm saying is I don't see it happening (I don't think a new type is necessary!*) but Fairy is at least a much better flavour type than Light (what does Light mean? what kind of Pokemon represents Light? etc etc).

*There are different ways to spice up a new generation. Physical-special split (the smartest thing they've ever done for the series), different types of battles, dream world, different types of side-games and so on. Plus, again, what does any new type represent that isn't already represented in this game? Why become redundant and mix things up that don't need to be mixed up?
Well they could just say that Prof. Oak was wrong.(I'm assuming that he was the one who said "Well this flaming lizard is a fire type and this yellow mouse is a electric type) You could also say that since there were so few Fairy type pokemon to begin with, that there wasn't enough evidence to deem it a "type". I'm just speculating though, there's really no answer to your question right now.

Again, if they want to introduce a new type, than they are going to do it, they don't need a reason. I think it will eventually happen, maybe this gen. or maybe not. Also, people answered those last two questions many times in this, and I really don't feel like or care enough to repeat it.

Like I've said before, I'm indifferent on a new type, if one gets introduced than cool, if it doesn't than cool. I guess I'm more inclined on wanting one, just because it would be interesting to see how it effects the game(and chaos >:D) I can understand why people don't want it, but you can not deny that it might happen.

Ice doesn't NEED to resist anything. You want it to resist stuff for your own purposes of battling. But it is a TYPE. In a GAME. That's made for IN GAME PLAY. Not the metagame. So, while it would help on that end of things, that is not it's purpose. It's just fine as it is, as are all the types.

The "antagonists" should be the rival, gym leaders, champion, and the legendaries to catch. Evil teams shouldn't entirely go necessarily, but they could stand to cut it back... a lot.
Evil teams exist to add morals to the story. Children shouldn't necessarily be left to their whims. It's really a part of human nature to want to put a stop to a malevolent syndicate and be the good guy, and in many cases when you're fighting the evil team, you get commended and thanked for saving a small business, or the like. There are also moments when the bad guys are up to no good and you stop them without anyone around to recognize you for your hard work. One of the many morals that fighting an evil team comes with is that not every good deed goes rewarded. Another important thing is that your in-game family and friends all mention that your Pokemon are always growing closer together with you and as a team. This indicates to children that it's important to stick together and bonds between friends is an advantage against any adversary.
There's also all that bubcous about being a hero and standing up for what's good and just when even the local law enforcement seems incapable of keeping the peace, but a new mafia is definately needed for Gen VI. Without them, kids will go on playing without seeing that people need a good somaritan every once in a while to do what nobody else in town seems capable of accomplishing.

Lots of countries are faced with violent drug wars and piracy in real life, so it should stand to reason that there would be wicked people trying to fuck shit up all across the Pokemon world too. Luckily, we have the innocence of bright-eyed kids as the driving force behind keeping order. It's corny, but the game is no longer meant for you.

I'm not sure even little kids care about that stuff when playing a pokemon game. It's like how in Mario games, getting all of the stars/beating all of the levels gets more emphasis than beating Bowser, because Bowser's plot just doesn't have much bearing on the actual main points of the game.

For the love of Arceus stop with Light type... NO new info about it has come out, so all we're doing is the above.

The only possible thing for Light is they mystery-typings of Xerneas/Yveltal and Ninfia. Ninfia doesn't have a Light-vibe to it at all - more like Suicune's ribbons with wind, or butterfly in its bow. No light. The movie is featuring Mewtwo as well, not Light.

Incorporating a new type in Gen VI would take so much more work than it did in Gen II, though. Gen I into Gen II had 150 pre-existing Pokemon, two of which had Steel retrofitted onto them. Gen I had no IVs to speak of, so Hidden Power couldn't have been an issue. Gen VI has almost six times the Pokemon Gen I had, without adding any new Pokemon. There are detailed IV and Hidden Power mechanics that rely on the type chart as it is now. I'm not saying a new type is impossible, and I'm no programmer, but it seems to me that the amount of work involved in throwing in a new type would be pretty ridiculous.

Also, stop talking about a new type being added to "balance" the game, please. Even if there was something wrong with the current 17 types (and there isn't. Dragon is supposed to be stupid powerful, Poison isn't supposed to be that great, and there's nothing wrong with a certain type ruining a Pokemon's chances. A metagame in which Butterfree is as viable as Lapras is as viable Dragonite would be awful), Gamefreak doesn't care about the metagame. They don't want to balance things for competitive play, so they won't

Welcome to the wonderful world of sideplots. Categories are:
-beating every gym
-tracking down the local legendaries
-defeating the mafia

It's all enforced at a certain point when all you wanna do is complete your Pokedex, but even if little kids really don't care about what is arguably the greatest means of increasing the friendship levels of their team, much of what they sit through does have a psychological effect. If you're getting constantly bombarded by team members while in their base, it sends a message that there are dangerous places in the world, and if you get involved with the denizens of those places, you'd better be prepared.

Mr Bass, I am so sick to death about people bitching about Poison being terrible, It's a fucking defensive type fit for early gameplay purposes, like how Steel is more of a later-game attribute to come across.

All he said was that it isn't great and that it isn't meant to be, which is basically what you just said too.
And it's a video game, not a psa to children. Anyway, I'm just saying they should tone it down with the emphasis, not completely get rid of it.

Surely you jest. Every video game with defined characters does this sort of thing.

The bullshit of the light type that I had to sift through AGAIN after seeing it earlier for 50 pages is ridiculous. YOU ALL KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS NEW GAME. Light type is a ridiculous concept, countering dark as well is stupid. A new type is plausible, but for the love of god, QUIT BRINGING UP LIGHT TYPE. (As I bring it up lol). Every gen its the same damn thing, I can accept even a Food type (Vanniluxe and Eggecute) before a light type. Be more original with a new typing.

With that over with, on the topics of new team, I'd like a female antagonist, possibly a world sort of like Collesium where the team is already in power, (With even your rival/mother/prof joining/being a part of them), good uniforms (Galactic..... I like Knight's templar though), good choices of Pokemon (Team Rocket, looking at you), Better AI then usual (Like Collesium), Higher levels (Like Colle- notice a pattern?), good music, admin themes (HG/SS major fail and BW2 as well), collecting legendaries (Like Colles- Bw saga). Doing this and otherwise will make me pleased.

I'd like the idea of the Evil team actually having a good motive gone wrong like in RSE or in a way BW.

EDIT: Since all previous teams have been based off real life groups, I have one I'd like to see:
Anonymous

Basically, a group of elite hackers who take over the electronics of the modern city to try and spread their own messages.

Either that or people who want to destroy nature to build cities.

Not sure how Yveltal and Xerneas could work with these, but...

I really, really want to see anonymous influence an evil team in pokemon. They're just so...not talked about much. The media might blame them for something every now and again, but really people don't want to accept that they're there. It would be mysterious.

hidden power is a pretty lame move thouh. I mean it really doesnt make sense for every pokemon to be able to learn any type of move. game-freak should just get rid of it

Following my theory that the legendaries are based on Norse mythology (page 81) I would think that the plot would go something like this:
Xerneas and Yveltal are keeping Pokemon Z in check (or whatever) while it is trapped in a (dungeon/prison/underground) until the antagonists come along and try to free it to harness power, rule world, blah blah blah.

If you go back to reading my post on page 81, you would see that i linked Z to a serpent that is imprisoned under the tree of life, gnawing on a root to get out. The day he escapes is Ragnarok (apocalypse) and he commences a fight with Thor, in which the god loses and gets eaten.

The first one is that they represent a geometrical dimension (or axis). Xerneas is said to represent the X axis because it lives on the ground and basically owns the dimension of length/width. Yveltal is said to represent the Y axis because its domain is the sky and rules the dimension of height. If there were to be a Pokemon Z, it is said that it would have the formation of a "Z" and rule underwater or underground to represent the dimension of depth.

The second theory I've heard about mainly involves the origin of Xerneas and Yveltal in Norse Mythology, in particular, the tree of life (Yggdrasil). Xerneas was apparently based on the four stags named Dainn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Durapror that graze among the branches of Yggdrasil at the bottom. These four stags each have a color/element corresponding to each of them, as seen in the antlers of Xerneas. Yveltal is believed to originate from the unnamed eagle who lives on top of Yggdrasil.

I have looked into both of these thoroughly, and have synthesized a third theory involving both of these, seeing as one deals with in-game storyline and the other deals with origin of the Pokemon itself. In this theory, I have kept all the details previously explained to you and added on to them. I believe that if there was a Pokemon Z, it would represent the Z axis for depth and be based on a third inhabitant of Yggdrasil, Niohoggr. This is a serpent that lives underneath Yggdrasil itself, gnawing on the roots that keep it imprisoned in the ground. Seeing as it is a serpent, it could easily form a "Z" shape with its body as Xerneas and Yveltal have done. And, believe it or not, there is a final fourth inhabitant of Yggdrasil. This creature is a small squirrel named Ratatoskr (and no, Ratata is not based off of it) who carries messages from the eagle at the top down to Niohoggr underneath. Ratatoskr might be some kind of fairy/pixie/whatever who's importance might be similar to that of Celebi or Shaymin.
Here was my post so you don't have to look back for it.

What, Light type?

Seems legit.

The main reason I want a light type now is because otherwise the new Eveelution is flying type... WEAK TO STEALTH ROCK, AW FRICK. Poor thing. Never had a chance.

What about a clause where whenever a poison mon would poison a pokemon, they're badly poisoned instead?

Stealth rock is another very very OP move, they should get rid of it too....or just make it deal neutral damage on everything

It looks like a flying type, but some people are holding that it might be a light type if a new type is added.

GOD. DAMN. IT. WE'RE STILL TALKING ABOUT LIGHT-TYPE.

That being said, fuck getting rid of/toning down evil teams. Apart from what Yveltal said, the evil teams are the only things differentiating the plots of each game. Without them, they're all the same, just with more Pokémon. No thanks. I want to play different games.

I think the idea of your rival joining the evil team is interesting. Your rival has been a dick in the past (Blue/Silver), but they still hated Team Rocket. It would be an interesting twist for the rival to actually join them, and you have to convince him/her that it's a bad path to go down.

And it doesn't make sense that almost every Pokémon can learn an attack of any type? Uh, that's why it's called Hidden Power.
