Improbable; taking into account its names, for the Japanese and French people it supposed to be a nymph (Ninfia, Nymphali). The Germans call it Feelinara, for it has "Fee" like "fairy" in its name. As far as theme naming is concerned the mythological Sylph is much more probable.

I'm guessing that it'll be either Flying or Light type (If speculation about new Light & Sound types turns out to be true.)

Out of the possible types he resembles (Normal, Psychic, Flying), the first would be idiotic since Eevee is already Normal, and Psychic is taken by our friend Espeon. So, elimination leaves us with Flying.

Even though you are right, the Japanese and French names just say it derives from "nymph". According to myth, there are suppossed to be 5 kinds of nymphs, including land nymphs. The names by themselves don't give us any clues as to what Sylveon's type is.

I don't think there's much use for straight-up stadium games anymore since we have 3D battles on the 3DS now. The only thing that would make sense would be Pokemon XD2, but again, we have a mainstream 3D game on the 3DS. I think all we'll get on the WiiU is stuff like Pokemon Rumble, PokePark and whatever else is selling with a Pikachu slapped on it nowadays.

Also, we should get AR Pokemon battles with printable stadiums or AR cards for the Pokemon to battle on. Make it happen Nintendo/GameFreak.

I could certainly see AR bring an interesting medium for distributing Event Pokémon. Or a reimagining of that weird GB Printer feature they tried to introduce in Gen 2...

I know that sounds kinda stupid, but Ive been thinking about this for awhile now. The "syl" part in Sylveon's name could come from "sylvite". Sylvite is a mineral that can come in a variety of colors: white, yellowish-white, cream, transparent, bluish-white, reddish-white, and brownish-white. Looking at the pictures, Sylveon's coat is multi-colored in shades similar to different colored sylvite (brown, blue, red, and cream). Coincidence?

Interesting hypothesis but a bit of an obscure reference, sylvite's not a mineral I encountered in four years studying geological sciences. A Pokemon named after a mineral I'd expect to be named after a rather more common one.

As said, we have taken every of its names into account. Granted, "Fee" in its origial meanig is just a nymph in another context, so we mostly rely on Sylph, a kind of elemental of the air.
Just to make it clear: We are somewhere between Flying and Bug.

G2- Color added to sprites, still not the best quality
G3- Sprites fleshed out, stuff actually looks good
G4- Same, but with unnecessary entry animations
G5- Sprites are fully animated
G6- Everything in 3D

Obvious next step is holographic projection battles.

I think emphasising sylph over the other entries to back flying is dubious. Nymph's and fairies aren't specifically flying and indeed in Pokemon terms I don't think have a strong type affiliation in general. Weakly ghost, perhaps, but the ghost type is more normally associated with malevolent or menacing spirits. Insectoid fairies are a relatively modern development, they weren't seen as such by Shakespeare for example.

Actually, we have skipped one stadium. We not only get 3D, but 3D plus stereoscopic vision. At least we think that they support stereoscopic vision.

Hey guys, you might know I've been a regular here, but for the past five days (since thursday) I've been gone. Would any of the other regulars mind updating me on what's been said and any new info or speculation? This is for the past 400 posts, from 5145 onward to 5516, and I don't care to read through 400 pages at once and assume SOMEONE has a little summary so I don't miss anything or bring up old topics.

I was curious where the thousands of extra pages came from, but then I realized you meant 400 posts. Much better.

Major happenings:
1. Discussion of 'acid rain' to boost poison types, possibly by removing steel's immunity and raising the power of certain moves.

2. Discussion of Sylveon's name.

3. Illicit discussion of the Light type.

4. Various types confirmed. (Grape, Light-from-Trees, Puce, et cetera.)

5. Reminiscing about Stadium, Coliseum, Snap, et cetera. Possible AR Pokemon battles would be sweet.

6. Whining about overpowered dragons, legendary psychic types, entry hazards, weather, some Pokemon being more powerful than others, et cetera.

Business as usual, basically.

Nymphs are more relatable, in poke terms, to fairies and the only true fairies have been normal type; Snubbull and Cleffa lines. The fairy egg group contains a very many though... and Celebi is very similar to a western forest nymph even if it originated from Japanese myth.

If anything nymph has no tie whatsoever to flying type.

Thank you! So no big news really, and I'm now able to skip over about 400 posts of "drivel"

I'd love to see a new Shadow Pokemon game and have more of a series out of it, either in a new or same location for the 3DS. I love XD, and I've had many ideas for ways they could take the series, but I really think they should do more with that.

On snap, I've never played the original, but it could work so well for the 3DS with both the 3D and gyroscope. I think that could also work for the wii U, but I'd prefer the 3DS personally.

Just one request: No more pokepark or no pokepark 3ds, and we need something better than stadium.


Thing that could make Pokemon TONS of money:
A showdown/PO-esque thing for the 3DS, say, 2 dollar download with choices of full 3D stadium style, XY style, BW style, or DP style battles/animations where you can make your own team and battle other, making tourneys easy for ANYONE to enter even if they can't pokegen and allowing people to try out teams, taking back their own industry for competitive players. They could also mark the pokemon as OU/UU etc., have move suggestions and stat suggestions right there, and help people who play competitive. One thing it'd need to have though: really good wifi battle system.

I WANT THIS TO HAPPEN.

Just realized the last post had nothing to do with X and Y, but I saw some hopes for the other things and, while MOST of this speculation (light type, other things) aren't too X-Y-y, I wanted to put this out there.

I assume they'll support it. It would be silly for Game Freak to not capitalize on all of the 3DS's new functions.

What if Sylveon is a Normal evolution to Eevee...that evolves into second stage of the original Eeveelutions?

Like you need to evolve Eevee into Sylveon before you could get Megavaporeon

Building off of that (although, to be honest, not my fav idea and what's coming up isn't even really speculation, just a cool idea):

What if, after all the types are used, each one can evolve a second time into ANOTHER 17 types, having their primary type be what the stage 1 is and stage 2 have a new secondary type, thus giving us the first water/water, flying/flying, steel/steel etc. Type combos.

That's just something I'd like to see. Think: Double weakness, double resistance, double STAB.

I think they don't make a remake of r/s because of they want to release it after x/y and maybe after z
so it's for 3ds not ds(hoenn in 3d)
also you can catch/find 6th gen pokemon in hoenn
