Neep help making a HG/SS team!

Hey guys, I'm starting a HG Run, and I need to know my 5 pokemon!
My starter will be Typhlosion, so tell me some pokemon and why. That would be great.
EDIT:My water type is now going to be Lanturn.

I suggest Spearow. It's the most powerful and useful flying-type in the game Imo. Or if you could get a Doduo from the Pokewalker early on, Doduo would also be a cool flying-type to use!
