(Tournament) ASB Battle Factory Tournament - Round One (Important Post #41)

Tournament referees, please find your matchup below and post the thread when possible. Pull the team from the tournament Prize Claim thread, please.

To start the battle, you will use a coin flip to determine who sends out their Pokemon first. Turn order goes by the norm after that.

Battle rules are as followed

Switch = OK
Items: ON
Abilities: ONE
Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
Unlimited Chills/Recoveries
Two substitutions
Two day DQ on actions, three day DQ on ref.

Tournament rules:
- Tournament will be 3v3 singles.
- Pokemon will earn 6 MC in between battles.
- Abilities and evolutions are locked for the entire tournament for all rental Pokemon.
- Pokemon will be randomly given out in groups of six to each trainer, with repeats omitted and replaced.
- For round one you are to choose three out of the initial six you are given. The three you do not choose will be discarded, and you will be unable to use them for the remainder of the tournament.
- Items will be randomly given out in groups of ten to each trainer, with repeats omitted and replaced.
- Items and Pokemon will be from a pre-determined pool.
- Upon winning any round a trainer may swap one of their current Pokemon for one of their defeated opponent's current Pokemon.
- Consumable items will be replenished throughout the tournament.
- Held items will be swapped along with Pokemon. If your Pokemon has no held item, none will be forfeited.
- For prizes for second and third places, they may choose from the team they lost their battle with. Swapped Pokemon from their final battle are not included in prize choice.

Red, looks like I get a chance to redeem my dismal Gym Qualifier effort against you. Definitely the tougher of round 1 match ups out there.

One question though, why so many byes?

EDIT: Holy crap Engi/IAR and Deck/zar are both huge too!

I created a single elimination tournament on Challonge, it seeded those byes.

Also after editing the refs in we have exactly enough to give each ref one match .-. that bit was just luck.

Surely there is some way to avoid that many people getting a bye. Just randomise match ups every round rather than set up brackets?

IAR has a bit of an advantage with type here. Skarm beats Whimsicott, Camerupt beats Whimsicott and Skuntank, Ampharos beats Lapras. But Lapras shits on Camerupt, so I don't know what happens there. Going to go for IAR because spikes and SR look to be a pain that I don't know how Engi will deal with.

Also, with the massive number of byes, its somewhat unfair that in Round 2, 15 people will have 6 less MC to work with per mon against their opponents, so will the byes be receiving MC between now and Round 2? Maybe getting all 6 might not be fair to the people who did battle, but we should still get something, right?

Chandy vs Chandy is interesting. However, Let's see who sends out first. Canis might be able to make sure his matchups are favorable. But, Ultimately giving this to Pwnemon. He's got the edge in pokemon and skill. _________ Dogfish44 Imanalt Dogfish44 has skill over Imanalt, but more importantly, he's got a mother fucking Starmie. Poor Imanalt. I would love to see Iman pull through, but the type advantages and skill are overpowering. _________ deadfox081 Rediamond This one will be close I think. Honestly, I dont we should count DF081 out just because the types seem unfavorable. To be honest, the types aren't all that off: As long as Deadfox uses Whiscash to its best extent, and keeps it alive, I think he can pull through. Also, never underestimate mother fucking Tomohawk. Tomohawk will mess you up. Both trainers are very skillful though, and like i said before, this will be close. however, I believe Deadfox will be able to achieve victory. _________ TheWolfe Galladiator The teams are even for the most part: Slowking is going to be Wolfe's MVP though, and unless galladiator can knock it out swiftly and as fast as possible, it will cause major havoc on his team. I love Wolfe's team for some reason, it's odd but well rounded, for the most part. Breloom can try its hardest, but won't do much, unless Ullar is smart. Walrein and Mandibuzz are going to have to pull some major weight. Gerard is more experienced, so to be honest, where he really shines is Doubles. Will this singles tourney throw him off? I think Ullar could pull off a win, but he will have to be smarter than he's ever been, and have some luck. Giving the edge to Gerard. _________ kingofburgerz Maxim This might take a while. Maxim has the skill, but both have steel pokemon that will not die quickly. It could drag out, and the further it drags, KoB might whittle his way ahead. Also, i just realized how close their teams are related. Both have steel types (and they dont have any Fire moves, so killing thorn and durant off will be tedious), both have serperiors, and then water types. KoB has an edge with Lanturn, so if he can get steel vs steel, serp vs serp, and water vs water, he could pull through. However, I've battled Maxim, and know his style. His skill will lead him to victory. _________ lucarioisawesome Yarnus of Bethany LIA's rain team is pretty cool, but it ultimately work against him. Ferrothorn is going to tear through his water mons, and the rain is only going to help it. I'm also pretty partial to Mr. Mime, and think that its trickery will leave LIA in the dust. Yarnus should be able to pull a clean win (Just be careful not to EN KO yourself buddy.) _________ LockDown Ragnarokalex If Alex is clever, Gengar can KO both of Lock's psychics, and he will be done for. both Camerupt and Lapras can handle their own against Serp (But lock can still use Contrary Leaf Storm to leave a huge mark). Alex also has more skill, being a veteran, so I will have to give him my bet. _________ Complications Orcinus Duo Wow. I don't even know who will win. Orcinus obviously has some great pokemon, but Complication's team is pretty formidable. Scrafty is Comp's lynchpin, i would say, so if Orc can take him out as fast as possible, Complications should fall quickly. Orc has Ambi and Zam, two fast and annoying pokemon. Things will be tricky, but I think this could go either way. But ofc I love Orcy-Poo more <3333 _________ Deck Knight Zarator Sorry DK, but you're still a bit rusty. And your usual scheme won't work against this opponent; the hazard ploy is going to be a flop for the most part, whilst lee and drill resist SR. Spikes I guess could work though. Maybe DK can pull through? Zarator has the upper hand though, I would believe. However, I would love to see Deck Knight bring back some kick ass RP actions, like he did with Beedrill back in ASB's glory days. I think that will be his only chance at victory.
