This two facts together could only mean one thing: SubwayJ still harbors his undeserved grudge towards the cute little Hoenn Pokemon, Clamperl. You see, my children, one day, long ago, SubwayJ still held his beloved Clamperl dearly. In a key fight, however, Clamperl failed him at the last moment, and SubwayJ was enraged, casting him out onto to the streets furiously, with only Clamperl's DeepSeaTooth to protect it against the dangerous world. Months later, Clamperl returned as a vagabond Huntail, eager to please its master once again, and SubwayJ reluctantly accepted the stronger version.
