CCC Round 1! Elevator Music vs. Frosty! (reffed by Flamestrike)

Brandon stood up in the announcer's booth of the ASB Arena, ready to host one of four matches in the first round of the CAPASB Casual Circuit. Lou and him had put a fair amount of work into preparing this small tournament, and they were hoping it would run without a hitch and that they could get a cycle of them going. But that would have to wait, as first he had a match to commentate for. Wasting no more time, he grabbed the mic and addressed the crowd. "Hello ladies and gents and welcome to the ASB Arena for a Round 1 match of the CAPASB Casual Circuit!" The cheers from the crowd let Brandon know that the people were excited for this, which was good; the whole point of this was to give the fans and trainers of ASB some excellent matches to watch.

"Our first battler today hasn't been around quite as long as some of our other battlers, but he has risen through the ranks quickly and become one of the most renowned battlers in all of CAPASB! Refusing to take a Gym for himself and instead setting himself on a path to get all the Badges, here he is, Elevator Music!" EM walked out to a large cheer. He was one of the favorites to win the whole tournament despite only being the fourth seed, but Brandon knew that there was good reason for it; EM was a great battler, and would certainly be a tough out for anyone.

This Pokemon receives a one (1) stage boost on the offense that strikes an opponent's weaker defense stat. (e.g. does more damage with special attacks when facing Aggron, which has higher Defense, and attack when facing Hypno, which has higher Special Defense. For ties, Special Attack is raised.) This boost is maintained at the end of each round.
Analytic (DW): (Passive) If this Pokemon attacks after its target during an action, its attacks have two (2) more Base Attack Power.

Once the cheering went down, Brandon went on. "And from the other side comes a potential Gym Leader and a guy who's been around for a while. He might be the underdog here but I think he'll surprise a lot of people with his performance here today! Here he is, Frosty!" Frosty came out from the other side to a large cheer of his own. Frosty hadn't sounded very confident about his chances despite being seeded right below EM in fifth place. Brandon wasn't conviced; Frosty was a solid battler in his own right, and definitely wasn't giving himself enough credit. He knew that EM was in for a tough fight to get into round 2.

Again, Brandon had to wait for the cheering to die down before he could continue. "Now then, let's quickly look at the rules. Each Trainer has brought four Pokemon with them, but they will each only be able to use two of them! Switching is legal, and when each trainer sends out a new Pokemon, they will be able to equip it with an item if they so desire. Pokemon are able to use all of their abilities, and each trainer will get two substitutions for their orders. Now then, let's find out who orders first!" Brandon hit a button, and a huge coin showed up on the big screen. "Heads means that Elevator Music will send out his Pokemon first, tails means that Frosty will send out first!" He hit the button again and the coin flipped...

-> RNG roll to see who sends out first (1-5000=Elevator Music sends out first, 5001-10000=Frosty sends out first) -> 9683 (Frosty sends out first)

The coin landed with the tails side showing. "TAILS! Looks like Frosty will have to send out his Pokemon first, equipping an item if he chooses, then EM will do the same and give his orders. Then Frosty will order, and then I'll give an update! Now then, let's not waste any more time, and let's get started!" Brandon turned off the mic and sat back. Announcing was a decent bit of work, but it was worth it to be paid to watch a match like this.

Frosty, you're up!

I guess we'll go with Conkeldurr @ Expert Belt, who will toggle Sheer Force on.

Frosty was the first to take a Pokeball and release his Pokemon. A red flash temporarily engulfed the arena, and when it disappeared Brandon started his commentary. "And here we go as Frosty starts us off with Diababa the Necturna!" Not long after Elevator Music sent out his own Pokemon. "And her opponent will be Elevator Music's Conkeldurr, Roobushin! Now let's get going! Diababa is the quicker of the two, and is shooting some seeds at Roobushin! Is it a Leech Seed... No! That's definitely a Worry Seed! It looks like Roobushin's abilities have been replaced with Insomnia! Not good for a Pokemon with abilities as powerful as Roobushin's! But it looks like Roobushin has a plan of his own; here he goes with a Knock Off! He just knocked off Diababa's Rare Candy! Without that Diababa won't be doing quite as much damage, but let's see if Roobushin can keep up without his abilities!"

"And now that Roobushin doesn't have Guts Diababa is taking advantage with a Will-O-Wisp! And that's a direct hit folks; Roobushin is burned! That might come back to haunt Frosty later, but for now that Conkeldurr is going to have a much harder time laying the hurt on Necturna! But that doesn't mean it's not going to try! Here comes the first real attack of the match, a Fire Punch! That's a super-effective blow, but Diababa is a tank and took it really well! This isn't going to be an easy matchup for Conkeldurr!"

"Now with Conkeldurr right where she wants him, it looks like Diababa is going on the offensive! Here comes the pain; it's a Horn Leech! That did some solid damage and healed Diababa a bit to boot! Can Roobushin keep up? I'm not sure, but he's sure as hell going to try! That's an Ice Punch right there, and that had to hurt at least a little bit! So far Roobushin's initial HP advantage is keeping it ahead, but Diababa is definitely in control! Can Elevator Music turn this around or will Frosty press the advantage?"

Brandon watched as both trainers gave their orders, then stepped back up to the mic. "Alright, let's get going! Diababa is looking to push the advantage with a Power Whip! That's going to hurt! But wait, Roobushin erected a shield around himself! And-yes! The whip just bounced right off! Talk about a timely Protect if I've ever seen one! Looks like Elevator Music might be looking to wait out the effects of that Worry Seed!"

"He can't use that trick twice though, and Diababa is already going back for more! Here comes the next attack, and it's another Horn Leech! Dealing damage and gaining some life back, that's a bigger HP swing than it looks like ladies and gents! But what's this? Looks like Roobushin is asking for more! He's driving Diababa into a frenzy-it's a Taunt! That might be huge-no more Worry Seed for Diababa now!"

"Diababa doesn't mind right now though, because she's going all out! Here comes another Power Whip, and again Roobushin is ready to block it with the Protect! But wait, that just missed entirely! Looks like that shield wasn't needed after all, but always better to be safe than sorry! Right now things are still fairly close, but with Roobushin gaining its abilities back and burnt to activate Guts, and with Diababa taunted for the forseeable future, can Frosty keep the little advantage he has gained or will Elevator Music pull ahead?"

COMBO (Worry Seed + Seed Bomb) - Cooldown - Power Whip
IF Combo doesn't work THEN Power Whip - Horn Leech - Power Whip

Worry Seed: The Pokemon generates and fires a small seed at the impact. Upon contact it explodes, releasing a nervous gas that overrides the opponents natural genetic structure. The opponent's abilities will be changed to Insomnia for the next six (6) actions.

Seed Bomb does the same with larger seeds without the side effect, so I see the combo being Necturna firing many small and big seeds that explode on contact and have the gas thinge. To be honest I can't see how I doesn't work

Brandon stepped back up to the mic as the trainers completed their orders. "Alright, here we go one more time! Diababa seems to be a bit slow on the draw, and with his abilities back in full force Roobushin is going to take advantage with a super-powered Ice Punch! That was an absolutely devastating blow! But what's this? Diababa is replying with a combination of Seed Bomb and Worry Seed! That dealt some solid damage, but more importantly once again Roobushin's abilities have been replaced with Insomnia! This could be huge for Frosty!"

"However, the fact that he had to combo in order to do that comes with a price, and now Diababa needs to recover from her combo! Let's see how Roobushin takes advantage! And here he comes, a Fire Punch right to the face! But without all of his abilities, it doesn't hurt nearly as much! How will EM deal with this?"

"Now rested and ready to go, Diababa replies in kind with a Power Whip! It's not super-effective, but it still stings quite a bit! Roobushin responds with another Ice Punch, but those just aren't doing as much as they used to, and as the burn continues to wear the Conkeldurr down, it's hard to see how Elevator Music can come back to get first blood here! But Diababa is still taunted for a bit and both trainers still have their second Pokemon, so it's still anyone's game!"

Brandon went back to the mic as the two Pokemon turned to fight one more time, both extremely weary from the long fight. "Alright, time for the next round! Diababa as usual is the faster of the two, and swoops right in with a painful Shadow Claw! Can the Conkeldurr take it? Yes! But just barely, and he's looking like he's in serious pain! However, he won't quit just yet, and here comes the counter-attack, a powerful Payback! Even with the burn drop that stung! It's looking like this will be a damage race!"

"Diababa is looking to close this one out here; she's throwing a Seed Bomb at Roobushin! It's a direct hit, and Roobushin crumples! Can the Conkeldurr get back up? Yes! He's slowly getting back to his feet! What will he have for what might be his final attack? Oh my! It's a Mega Payback combination attack! Will that do it? Yes! Diababa is knocked out with a critical hit to boot, and Elevator Music has drawn first blood... But wait! Roobushin has fallen! That attack took too much out of him, and he's fainted due to energy exhaustion! That means both players are dead even, and we still have one Pokemon to go! This is going to be close!" Brandon stepped away from the mic and marvelled at how amazing the match had been to this point. Both trainers had been near perfect up to this point, and it was only going to get better from here on in.

Brandon took a quick swig of water out of his nearby bottle, then got back to the action. "Alright, after the double KO both trainers need to send a Pokemon out. Frosty is sending out first... And oh my, it's quite the titan! It looks like Hector the Snorlax will finish this match off for Frosty! Who will Elevator Music counter with? Oh my, it's a powerful Normal type of his own, PorigonZ the Porygon-Z! This will definitely be an interesting clash!"

"Unsurprisingly PorigonZ is the faster of the two, and it's not wasting any time! It's charging up, and blam! That Tri Attack was a direct hit! Those sting coming off of PorigonZ's ridiculous Special Attack stat and with an Adaptability boost to boot! But Hector won't be felled so easily! And... He's blowing a kiss to PorigonZ?! Oh wait! That was a Lovely Kiss! And PorigonZ is wavering... Yes! PorigonZ was just inflicted with intense sleep! This could be bad for Elevator Music!"

"PorigonZ is fast asleep, so Hector has free reign to do as he pleases! It seems like he's looking to for some additional protection as he's setting up a Substitute! Unfortunately for Elevator Music PorigonZ is still fast asleep, and with a substitute at the ready, Hector is going to take full advantage while he can! He's focusing his energy... And WHAM! Oh my goodness, what a Focus Punch + Focus Punch combo! That was utterly devastating; I felt it up here! Hector took some recoil from PorigonZ's Rocky Helmet but I bet it was worth it! Now PorigonZ is starting to stir awake, but even though Hector has to recover from his combo he's also behind a sub and has a severe HP advantage. Can Elevator Music find a way to make up the disadvantage or will Frosty pull off the upset?"

<Frosty> Question: does protect use up any additional energy when blocking pain split?
<Flamestrike> No Frosty

cooldown - Focus Blast - Hyper Voice
IF Pain Split AND Snorlax has no sub up THEN Protect on the first instance, Focus Punch on the second and push back
IF Recover THEN Snatch on the first instance and Focus Punch on the second and push back

this will be a pricey round. And so much can go wrong...
