Ok, time for a random yet oddly relevant Paint tutorial. Put in code tags because it's lengthy. :/

This will explain some features about Paint many of you either didn't know about or don't know about. I'll talk about each separately. 

Cropping without background colors:

Ok, this  is one that seems to elude many folks, but is blissfully easy to execute. First thing's first, use any of the selection tools and select a region of the picture you want to crop. If you don't know what the selection tools are, I'm referring to these:



The one on the left is the free-form selection tool and allows you to crop a part of an image depending on what you outlined with your mouse. 

Example:

As you can tell, the area you are currently outlining is highlighted. 

The one on the right is the standard rectangular selection tool. This works like the free-form tool, but only allows you to drag out an area in the shape of a rectangle.

Example:

Again, you can see what you are selecting by the outline color.



Now that we know how to select what we want to drag around, we are finding that there is an unwanted visitor in the form of huge white space:


Do not fret though! There is a simple way to alleviate this situation. Simply refer to this area of the toolbar when you have your selection being dragged around by the mouse:


As you can see, the first option is selected and that is our culprit! What you wanna do is select the option right below it and voila!

With the second option clicked, the white space is eradicated and you can drag that sucker anywhere without fear from the dreaded white space.

Rotating selections in paint:

One thing many people don't know is that Paint can rotate within itself. Though it is slightly more complicated to do, it can be worth it when really trying to impress your friends!

First let us get a simple selection, I'll use Meowth's ear:


Now to rotate, right click anywhere within the selection area and a little menu will pop up:


Go to the option I have highlighted, "Stretch/Skew". Once you clicked it, another menu will pop up:


What you want to shift your attention to is the Skew half. To rotate clockwise, enter a negative number in the second box and the positive version of that same number in the top box. Likewise, make the first number negative and the second one positive to rotate counter clockwise.

It's important you use the same number value for both negative and positive otherwise you'll get some awkward distortion. 


Ok, so let's see what happens when we rotate Meowth's ear with these coordinates:


And the result is:




So there, I hope this little tutorial helped clear up some confusions you guys may have had. ;)
