Admiral_Stalfos19's Team: Scylant, Cresselia, Rhyperior, Lucario, Gyarados, Gengar
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() TwiliteReflektion's Team: Lucario, Donphan, Cresselia, Weavile, Gengar, Azelf ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause My team had a few wins under its belt, but this is the first one which could've just as easily been a loss, mainly because of that Azelf that Twilite had. Of course, I could've swapped to Rhyperior, but this warstory wouldn't be particularly as effective... Twilite's actions and results are in green, mine in orange, misc actions + chat in blue and commentary stays as is. TwiliteReflektion sent out Lucario Admiral_Stalfos19 sent out Scylant If I know Lucario (which I do, otherwise I wouldn't even have one in my team), I would expect it to use Extreme Speed. Scylant doesn't like taking powerful hits, so I decided to switch to Cresselia instead, planning to give him a pleasent surprise Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Cresselia Lucario used Extremespeed (-22% Cresselia; -10% Lucario) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) TwiliteReflektion switched in Donphan Cresselia used Hidden Power (-17% Donphan) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Donphan's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Donphan) Damn, the german shepherd chickened out. Maybe it didn't know Crunch? -shakra- has entered the room Cresselia used Calm Mind (+1 SAT Cresselia; +1 SDF Cresselia) Donphan used Stealth Rock Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Donphan's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Donphan) This is exactly the reason why I opted for Mountaineer for Scylant instead of Compound Eyes... those bloody Stealth Rocks. They deal massive damage to any Fire-, Flying-, Ice- or Bug-types not coupled with Fighting, Ground or Steel, and even more to a combination of the four types, which unfortunately includes Scylant... TwiliteReflektion switched in Cresselia Cresselia used Calm Mind (+1 SAT Cresselia; +1 SDF Cresselia) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+3% Cresselia) Cresselia used Thunder Wave (Paralyzed Cresselia) Cresselia can't move because of Paralysis ... and then you get PKMN that use Thunder Wave at every oppurtunity. Annoying? Yes. Useful against Grounds? No. Good thing I had Ryperior along for the ride TwiliteReflektion switched in Lucario Cresselia can't move because of Paralysis Lucario used Swords Dance (+2 ATK Lucario) Cresselia used Hidden Power (-90% Lucario (FAINTS!); Super Effective Critical Hit) Now that was a good shot indeed. Not only did Cresselia finally get out of paralysis (after 2 turns of not moving D=), but it also scored a critical hit. If we didn't have the Strict Damage Clause on, I would be able to tell you if it was overkill or not, but it was still a lucky shot of the barrel nonetheless. 6-5 to Admiral_Stalfos19 TwiliteReflektion switched in Weavile Weavile is exerting its pressure! Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Rhyperior Pointed stones dug into Rhyperior (-6% Rhyperior) Weavile used Swords Dance (+2 ATK Weavile) Earth Master's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Rhyperior) TwiliteReflektion switched in Gengar (Gengar) Rhyperior used Hammer Arm (0% Gengar) Now this took some prediction on Twilight's part. I had 3 attacks that were strong against Weavile: Stone Edge, Megahorn and Hammer Arm. If I knew Gengar was coming, I would've used Stone Edge instead. But I just happened to insist on Hammer Arm Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Lucario Pointed stones dug into Lucario (-3% Lucario) Gengar used Counter (Fails) Gengar used Hypnosis (Misses) Lucario used Psychic (-100% Gengar (SURVIVES WITH FOCUS SASH!); Super Effective) TwiliteReflektion: =| Gengar used Destiny Bond (Succeeds) Lucario used Psychic (-0% Gengar (FAINTS!); Super Effective) Gengar took Lucario with it! (-97% Lucario (FAINTS!)) And this happened just when I thought Twilite commanded the most useless Gengar in the world (No offence to Twilite, but using Counter when I made a switch and missing an Hypnosis?? What the hell was that for?) D=. 5-4 to Admiral_Stalfos19 TwiliteReflektion switched in Cresselia Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Gyarados Gyarados's intimidate cut Cresselia's attack! (-1 ATK Cresselia) Pointed stones dug into Gyarados (-25% Gyarados) Cresselia used Thunder Wave (Paralyzed Gyarados) Gyarados used Waterfall (-29% Cresselia) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Gyarados) Cresselia used Charge Beam (-47% Gyarados; Super Effective; +1 SAT Cresselia) Gyarados used Waterfall (-27% Cresselia) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Gyarados) Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Cresselia Pointed stones dug into Cresselia (-12% Cresselia) Cresselia used Moonlight (+44% Cresselia) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) I was supposed to switch to Rhyperior here, but I clicked the wrong option. Therefore, what comes out? That's right, Cresselia. Luckily for her, the enemy Cresselia insisted on using Moonlight TwiliteReflektion switched in Weavile Weavile is exerting its pressure! Cresselia used Hidden Power (-31% Weavile; Super Effective) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Gyarados Gyarados's intimidate cut Weavile's attack! (-1 ATK Weavile) Pointed stones dug into Gyarados (-25% Gyarados) Weavile used Swords Dance (+2 ATK Weavile) Gyarados's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Gyarados) Gyarados wasn't going to survive anyway, so I threw him out to weaken Weavile a bit Weavile used Ice Punch (-21% Gyarados (FAINTS!); -10% Weavile) 4-ALL Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Scylant Scylant is a Mountaineer and avoided the floating stones! (0% Scylant) Scylant used Bug Buzz (-59% Weavile (FAINTS!); Super Effective; -10% Scylant) Well played sacrifice on my part. After seeing the whole team (apart from one guy), I was sure I had this in the bag. 4-3 to Admiral_Stalfos19 TwiliteReflektion switched in Cresselia Scylant used Bug Buzz (-73% Cresselia; Super Effective; -10% Scylant) Cresselia used Thunder Wave (Paralyzed Scylant) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) I was thinking...? Now that the psycho duck has paralyzed the mantis, things wouldn't be going as well as normal. Cresselia used Moonlight (+50% Cresselia) Scylant used Bug Buzz (-67% Cresselia; Super Effective; -10% Scylant) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Cresselia used Moonlight (+50% Cresselia) Scylant used Bug Buzz (-66% Cresselia; Super Effective; -10% Scylant) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Cresselia used Moonlight (+50% Cresselia) Scylant used Bug Buzz (-63% Cresselia (FAINTS!); Super Effective; -10% Scylant) If I had Compound Eyes instead of Mountaineer, that last Moonlight would've finished me. Why? 'Cause when I switched in against Weavile, Stealth Rock would've half-killed Scylant right of the bat. This Cresselia took FOUR TURNS to kill thanks to its spamming of Moonlight. Add a Life Orb and a turn to take down Weavile and that's the last half of Scylant's health gone, cause as you can see, wielders of a Life Orb, such as my Scylant, take 10% damage for every turn they initiate an attack. 4-2 to Admiral_Stalfos19 TwiliteReflektion switched in Donphan Donphan used Earthquake (-33% Scylant; Not Very Effective) Scylant used Ice Beam (-96% Donphan (FAINTS!); Super Effective; -10% Scylant) Then again, I'd have to suffice with Ice Beam instead of Blizzard. Blizzard may have a greater power to accuracy ratio than Ice Beam when Compound Eyes is active, but eating Stealth Rock while you're at it? That's too large of a price to pay IMO. Now I had a choice to make. Should I make a stupid move and keep Scylant in, knowing full well that Scylant is paralyzed, in order to get the point I made above in this warstory across effectively, or should I swap to Rhyperior and get on with the battle? I quickly decided on the former. 4-1 to Admiral_Stalfos19 TwiliteReflektion switched in Azelf TwiliteReflektion: oh TwiliteReflektion: forgot you were paralyzed >< Of course, this could also change the outcome of the battle, in which case Twilite would've sent out Azelf instead of Donphan. Azelf used Flamethrower (-8% Scylant (FAINTS!); Super Effective; -10% Azelf) 3-1 to Admiral_Stalfos19 Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Rhyperior Pointed stones dug into Rhyperior (-6% Rhyperior) Azelf used Grass Knot (-94% Rhyperior (FAINTS!); Super Effective -10% Azelf) If Azelf didn't have Grass Knot, I could easily bet that I would kill him... but it did =|. 2-1 to Admiral_Stalfos19 Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Gengar Pointed stones dug into Gengar (-12% Gengar) Azelf used Psychic (-88% Gengar (FAINTS!); Super Effective; -10% Azelf) 1-ALL Admiral_Stalfos19 switched in Cresselia Pointed stones dug into Cresselia (-12% Cresselia) Azelf used Flamethrower (-22% Cresselia; -10% Azelf) Cresselia used Calm Mind (+1 SAT Cresselia; +1 SDF Cresselia) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) One on one, motto en motto, this is Face-Off! Got this quote from Burnout 3 BTW Azelf used Flamethrower (-14% Cresselia; -10% Azelf) Cresselia can't move because of Paralysis Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) TwiliteReflektion: you have moonlight? Azelf used Flamethrower (-13% Cresselia; -10% Azelf) Cresselia used Hidden Power (-30% Azelf) Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little! (+6% Cresselia) Yes I did have Moonlight, all Cresselia should. The question was, did I need it? Admiral_Stalfos19: yeh, why TwiliteReflektion: can't win Azelf used Flamethrower (-14% Cresselia; -10% Azelf (FAINTS!)) Admiral_Stalfos19 WINS!! TwiliteReflektion: gg Admiral_Stalfos19: gg TwiliteReflektion has left the room -shakra- has left the room In this case, Mountaineer is a lot better than Compound Eyes for Scylant. I can assure you that if you're facing a Psychic- or Dark-type wall with a recovery move such as Moonlight on Cress, Stealth Rock HAS been set-up and you're using a Scylant with Compund Eyes and a Life Orb, you'd most likely be unable to prove me wrong IN THAT SPECIFIC CASE, unless you've used something else against the wall... This may or may not influence your decision on the ability for Scylant, but I will tell you this. There are plenty of Pokemon that can learn and are willing to use SR (*cough* Bronzong, Donphan *cough*), and it WILL half-kill Scylant right off the bat unless Mountaineer is in place. This also goes for Rock-type attacks such as Stone Edge and Power Gem, but this only applies when Scylant is actually switched in. However, I am well aware that Compound Eyed Scylant trainers can take care of their Scylants and use them at their most powerful, but Mountaineer is a better choice for novices and people who overly fear Stealth Rock (who wouldn't?). 1-0 to Admiral_Stalfos19 Props Scylant for killing half of Twilite's team Cresselia for ending the game Twilite for a good game Slops Lucario for underestimating the enemy Gengar, and paying the price Rhyperior for not doing anything, and dying at the end Gengar for the EXACT SAME REASON that Rhyperior was a slop Gyarados for screwing up big time Myself for summoning Cresselia instead of Rhyperior Last edited by Admiral_Stalfos19; Apr 2nd, 2008 at 4:53:54 AM. You don't have to have code names for each pokemon if you just take out the nicknames.

Thanks for telling me, but I've already spent time colour-coding, killing off log and coming up with all these symbols and the legend

The problem with "killing off the log" is that it becomes hard to read. At points I was trying to figure out what happened, and had to stop part way through.
Examples were when he switched his Cresselia into yours, and somehow got a Thunderwave off when you did nothing. Another was when it was Lucario vs Gengar, I couldn't tell what was happening. You need to leave stuff in, only thing really worth taking out is residual damage from hail/ss, healing from leftovers, and things of that nature that occur every turn.
