If anyone knows how to properly EV for level 50 pokes they should post something about it. At least post whether EV spreads need to be modified for level 50.

EVs have to be divisible by 4 but indivisible by 8 (so 4, 12, 20, 28, 36..., or, alternately, start at 4, add a multiple of 8) to give a point.

You are correct that every 8 EVs gives a stat point at level 50, but for every one point lower an IV is, you need to add another 4 EVs to make the stat point go up. ie: I have a Sceptile at level 50 with a Spd IV of 31 and a SpAk IV of 30. It needs 4, 12, 20, etc to raise Spd by one point, but 8, 16, 24, etc to raise SpAtk one stat point. I'm probably wrong though. =/ |

lol I just realized that Wobbuffet isn't banned. I have to find a way to work that into my team to be REALLY cheap (right now I have an Exploding Metagross, Obi's Smeargle, an Ambipom with Thunder Wave and a RestTalking Dusknoir...I'm gonna make a thread about this in RMT eventually).

But people rarely switch in Doubles, and he will probably be dead weight. the only thing I could think of is if you wanted to Dark Void their two Pokemon and prevent them from switching with Wobb., but it doesn't seem like a good strategy. If you want to use a Pokemon that for us is Ubers but not in this tournament, exploit Lati@s. They are much better for Doubles, and Latias has levitate and can helping hand something like Garchomp. that brings me to an idea for a team I had. It's kind of similar to the follow me Groudon teams in JAA, but with Garchomp instead of Groudon. Clefable could follow me while Garchomp Swords Dances. When Clefable dies, send out Togekiss and use follow me and either EQ or Swords dance some more with Garchomp. When Togekiss finally dies you could send out Latias to helping hand garchomp while being immune to EQ. The main problem with this is that 3/4 of the team is Ice weak, but is was just a starting idea I had. maybe you guys could improve upon it if you wish to do so.

From my understanding, Latias / Latios are level 50 when you get them, so you cannot EV train them.
You could use Wobbuffet on a Perish Song team. You are correct that even IVs would make you want to use EVs divisible by 8.

I thought you get them at Lv.40, and even if you do get them at Lv.50, can't you EV them, and then stick them in the PC before they level up, to get the stat boosts from EV training?

From Advance:
Smeargle @ Salac Berry Jolly nature 252 HP, 252 speed Endure Spore Endeavor Extremespeed (Seismic Toss also works) Basically, you start with Smeargle and an Exploding pokemon (I used CB Metagross, though I wonder if CB Lickilicky would do more damage with STAB). Have the pokemon Explode while Smeargle Endures and activates Salac. Then put one pokemon to sleep with Smeargle and flinch the other with your next pokemon (I used Ambipom). Assuming the awake pokemon is slower than your Fake Outer and your +1 speed Smeargle, use Endeavor on the awake pokemon and finish it with one of Ambipom's other attacks. Repeat for the other pokemon. But of course, since there's no sleep clause, you could put both pokemon to sleep with Dark Void and send in something that doesn't need Fake Out (perhaps Modest Choice Specs Eruption Typhlosion). I had asked in the Shoddy chat the other day whether you can still use the box trick, and people said it was RBYGSC only (I thought I had heard something about ADV). That's where my mistaken info came from.

As far as I know, the Box Trick works unless the Pokémon is already level 100.

It works so long as the Pokemon is able to gain experience. Once they are level 100, they cannot gain xp and the box trick no longer works.
For EVing level 50s, try putting experience shares on the 5 other party members, have pokerus and a power item, and fight low level Pokemon. You should be able to fully train with minimal xp this way. |

I hate the fact that i have to release my arceus..:( lol just wondering but how do you deleted wonder cards?? i made one for arceus and i don't know how to remove it. EDIT: my trick for EVing up to lv 50 is breeding for the right IV's, then just give it the EXP share and have another pokemon that doesn't need to be in the tourney do the battling. (unless your working with pokemon that require alot of EXP to level up)

It'll still be in your dex. You're going to have to restart your game.

oh yeah forgot about that.. :( oh well, i'll just get all my pokemon ev'ed up, have a friend hold them for me, and restart and rebeat the game. not that much of a big deal. well, what i could do is turn of the event flag in my pokemon diamond game. that means it makes it as if you haven't got that pokemon or the event. but the deal with the wonder card forces me to reset.

So those who have dabbled in hackery will have to buy antoher game or restart...well that really demoralizes me, a lot. I've never hacked, but I have traded for Shaymin and Arceus. D/P is as slow as molass. I suppose I can try a speed run, and I have multiple DSes to enable me to trade across Pokemon to speed up the tedious grinding that I had to do to beat the E4.
I've rarely played against humans, I primarily play the Tower. That said, I know that the AI will absolutely plot against you if you use same typing, as seen when I briefly ran Latios and Latias on the same team. I've read some arguments that having to deal with Sala/Latios/Latias would be a big pain since the stats are so formidable and you can even EV Latias to be more defensive and kick even more ass. If you eliminate two to make it a 4-on-4, is this still the case, or would having Latios and Latias on the same team be a liability on such a small team?

What about CB Azelf? It seems that you'd want to make sure you didn't get KOed before you got to move... And if you lead with this... Ghosts? And the omnipresent Ttar - oh wait, lv 50 cap... Still... Ghosts ruck up the whole thing, then half your team is screwed...

I've been thinking about Hippowdon in response to all the Obi's smeargles running around. Hippowdon can take an explosion, or we can switch him in. I know that he might not be all that powerful, but he sets up stream nicely.
What do people think about this? |

Putting Experience Shares on 5 other party members doesn't help any more than putting it on one other party member. 50% of each experience award is divvied up among Exp Share holders and the other 50% among those who participated in the combat. It's a weird system, but the upshot is that if you want to have a Pokémon gain as little experience as possible, more than one Exp Share doesn't do you any good.

Have one of the other party members hold an Exp. Share, switch every other teammate into the fight, use PokéRus, AND use a Power Item. That's how I EV train my Little Cup dudes.
