It's amazing how far this project has come in the span of a year. It's been a fun ride.

I've chosen just one post of mine that I look back on and laugh. It was posted in the wrap-up to the Syclant project, and we really didn't know what to do with the pokemon. People tossed around the idea of adding Syclant to Shoddy, but no one really knew how to make that happen. I was trying to help the project locate someone to do the programming. If you read the post below, you will see how reluctant I was about taking on the programming job. I really didn't want to do it! I bolded my famous last words below.

I'd like to say that it's been a great time being part of the community and the experience. I like to consider myself a server regular, and as such I should have many great times, but I'm an idiot and don't save them :(

For an occasion such as this it's only proper I do something I don't do regularly....post ;D.

Like everyone mentioned earlier, year 1 has been excellent. Everything went smooth, there were no major crises at all, which is pretty damn good for a first year. We've successfully completed 5 viable beast with the guidance of our excellent past TLs (<3 Tennis) and of course including the great Doug. It's truly come a long way. Anyway, Happy Birthday CAP!

Happy birthday CAP.....it feels weird giving an intangible, non-living thing an birthday O_o;. I don't have any witty/funny log stored up in my hard drive, I do have some wonderful moments within the forum and server that I still remember.

- Sending in a Revvy onto a Forretress, setting up like 6 Bulk ups while it out every entry hazard known to man, and sweep the living hell out of the poor bastard.

- Actually becoming a TL for a project, and ever though the by product is considered high BL/low OU it was a blast doing it.

- Finding out people have a horrible taste in Pokemon designs all of a sudden.

I laughed, I cried, I felt a bit freaked out by some of your comments on the servers. It was a blast being in this project and I hope it never ends.

Really? Has it been a year? Damn. I've been with the project since the beginning, when it was a mere set of polls in Stark Mountain. I've watched it grow as it attracted more and more people, until its success over time finally spawned the CAP subforum. Even though I've only been useful for the art portions of the project, I hope I've been useful for CAP. It has been a fun but rocky ride, guys. Let's continue our success into the next project and beyond.

I would like to thank everyone involved in this project for keeping things together, especially Doug. Without you Doug there is no way that this project would have lasted and grown in the way it has, you have done an incredible job not just with the programming in the Pokemon and running the server or writing all of the massive documents but always keeping our little community focused and solving everything brilliantly.

But lets not forget that CaP depends entirely on the voting public, I would like to thank you (everyone) for making 5 great Pokemon for us to play with. Its been amazing working with all of you.

I look forward to playing with ever more Created Pokemon and developing this project still further!

PS: its interesting to read back over your old posts.. I was kinda a noob back then and said/did some stupid things, sorry to anyone who remembers. Also yay for firefox spellcheck! Now people can read my posts...

CAP Rocks my world.

I realised I was addicted to CAP over the summer when I was trekking through Mauritian coastal ebony forest and instead of focusing on the critically endangered Pink Pigeons I was supposed to be working with, I was amusing myself thinking up names for a a giant wood-clad fire spouting lizard and looking forward to the weekend when I could return to civilization and the CAP subforum.

Thank you to the TLs, you've all done amazingly well keeping us rabble in check and keeping the projects going full steam ahead.

Thank you to the artists without whom our CAPs would be invisible.

Thanks So much to X-Act for all you efforts in the field of Pokemon stats - your paper was the biggest factor in getting my friends to see pokemon as more than a game for kids. Your applets are great and are indispensible as a CAP tool.

Most of all, thanks to Doug, you're AwesomeJustAwesome. I have massive respect for you and gratitude for all your hard work. I also love your brain; every post you make seems to be about twice as measured, well thought out and well written as the rest of ours. Thanks for keeping this project afloat.

Man.. I remember when this was just "would you be interested in something like this?". I remember one time I was away for about a week, and I was so surprised when I saw that CAP had its own forum! It was such a transformation from "hmm I think we should do the movepool next" to having a completely structured, nearly perfect process, a transformation from people thinking about CAP and laughing at it, to users signing up for Smogon just to participate in this program.

I know I've had fun telling idiots to shut up / deleting posts / infracting, but unfortunately I haven't saved any quotes from the server. I do have this though:

Yeah, I told you about that post (It's the last link in my first post). I would just like to thank you again for restoring that post and allowing the public to see it, lol.

I guess I didn't really say much in my first post, but I guess I can say my thanks now. Without the CAP Project, I would not be where I am today, not only from the perspective of smogon, but also for my life. I joined the project in a relatively difficult time in my life, but I am most grateful for how welcoming the CAP community, especially Doug, the server, and everyone else have been to me. So happy birthday, and may our next year bring only more renown and attention this project deserves!

I started to lurk on to the CAP server since the end of CAP3, and started being involved only since CAP5, but when I think to what you have managed to bring up in a year, I cant help applauding you all. The mixture of competitive prowess, artistic quality and pure creativity which gave life to the CAP project is amazing.
I really hope to join you all into what will be CAP's next birthday^^ So far, congratulations!!!

Like everyone mentioned earlier, year 1 has been excellent. Everything went smooth, there were no major crises at all, which is pretty damn good for a first year. We've successfully completed 5 viable beast with the guidance of our excellent past TLs (<3 Tennis) and of course including the great Doug. It's truly come a long way. Anyway, Happy Birthday CAP! I realised I was addicted to CAP over the summer when I was trekking through Mauritian coastal ebony forest and instead of focusing on the critically endangered Pink Pigeons I was supposed to be working with, I was amusing myself thinking up names for a a giant wood-clad fire spouting lizard and looking forward to the weekend when I could return to civilization and the CAP subforum. Thank you to the TLs, you've all done amazingly well keeping us rabble in check and keeping the projects going full steam ahead. Thank you to the artists without whom our CAPs would be invisible. Thanks So much to X-Act for all you efforts in the field of Pokemon stats - your paper was the biggest factor in getting my friends to see pokemon as more than a game for kids. Your applets are great and are indispensible as a CAP tool. Most of all, thanks to Doug, you're AwesomeJustAwesome. I have massive respect for you and gratitude for all your hard work. I also love your brain; every post you make seems to be about twice as measured, well thought out and well written as the rest of ours.
