Kabuto fell by a shitload, it's so good too. Glad to see Mantyke rise a spot over Dratini, as with Chinchou who rose by five spots though.
Edit: EM does in fact use good leads Thanks a lot Doug

Brilliant, these help with so much!
Thank you Doug. at a glance.. Big stories seem to be the huge burst of Snover, it rose more than 10% total use and almost tripled in lead usage in one month! Even with top players promoting it, that's impressive. Interesting diversity of items: | Snover | Item | Oran Berry | 33.0 | | Snover | Item | Choice Scarf | 21.3 | | Snover | Item | Expert Belt | 19.2 | | Snover | Item | Leftovers | 19.2 | Houndour got back its no. 3 spot despite the other powerful SPer, Stunky, rising right up to 5. Seems to be focusing more on Special sets, particularly Scarf. Natu jumped exactly 100 places, from 147 to 47. A few Pokemon I predict will get a significant rise by next month: Zigzagoon Belly Drum+STAB ExtremeSpeed? I'm predicting top 30 at least for this thing. Goldeen Seriously underrated rain sweeper here. Should at least get to top 40-50, within a month or two. Cyndaquil and Wailmer are pretty low considering their raw power. Guess tini and new WS users hurt.. Hippopotas Everyone always forgets about SS in LC.. It can work pretty well, and Hippo is solid.

I have to say that Hippopotas is probably the most underrated lead. While it does stick you with perma-sand, it also has great matchups against other leads, a healing move, decent attacks, and the ability to beat Sashed leads like Houndour with a little careful investment, something Phanpy can't do.
As for Cyndaquil and Wailmer, the big issue there is Houndour and Croagunk/Mantyke. When there are REALLY FUCKING SCARY things that can come in and eat your "only notable attack" for free (houndour specifically, as it can come in and pursuit), it becomes hard to use them.

18 | Carvanha | 788 | 13.45 | wow what a increase in usage 10% jump is unheard of. | Elekid | Move | Cross Chop | 92.5 | WHAt no low kickers? I guess LCers are gutsy well in a tier with 3k battles i guess thats not much varity considering theres about 25 viable pokemon. |

Imo the only reason to use Hippopotas is for sand, otherwise you are using a shitty Phanpy without Ice Shard or Head Smash.

Doesn't need to bother with not being 2koed by Fire Blast because the chip from Sandstorm is enough to guarantee that it beats Houndour. Also, Houndour beats Ice Shard Phanpy with OH/FB + Sucker Punch, something that doesn't happen with Hippopotas. The healing move really seals it, as there are more opportunities for something as bulky as Hippopotas to heal than it seems.
Also a more direct comparison. Standard lead Phanpy (196 HP / 116 Atk / 196 Def Adamant): 28 HP / 15 Atk / 15 Def / xx SAtk / 10 SDef / 10 Spe Lead Hippopotas (212 HP / 100 Atk / 132 Def / 20 SDef Adamant): 26 HP / 16 Atk / 16 Def / xx SAtk / 11 SDef / 9 Spe EVs not set in stone, but points in Attack can be swapped for points in either Defense or Special Defense if you need more bulk. Either way, Hippopotas brings to the table equal defenses (more defense, less HP, evens out), Sandstorm (auto-sash-eating is go), 50% healing, Crunch (being able to hit Misdreavus and Gastly (and floon!) is pretty solid), and better Attack is enough to put Hippopotas on top. If you really need the Ice Shard utility for some eleventh hour priority, Phanpy still exists, and if you hate Sandstorm the same is true, but Hippopotas has a lot to bring to the table over Phanpy. (also head smash is lol- 80% accuracy to possibly hit some stuff and take a fuckton of recoil? nothx)

Zigzagoon@Life Orb Lonely/Naughty - 196Att/196Spe/Extra EVs in SpA ~Extremespeed ~Seed Bomb ~Surf ~Shadow Ball This thing really puts the hurt on a lot of things, and it's extremespeed is capable of OHKOing Croagunk and Houndour with minimal defense investment. Surf and Shadow ball hurt the two main threats in LC: Gligar and the Ghosts. If you can hit gligar on the switch with anything though, XS will probably KO it. Surf also hits Hippo harder than anything else on the set would. Seed Bomb is random filler, as goon doesn't have much else going for him. I'll do some XS calcs once I get back from school. Oh, and since I'm talking about Simple sweepers... Bidoof@Oran Berry - Simple Adamant - 204HP/196SpD/Filler EVs ~Yawn ~Curse ~Quick Attack ~Iron Tail Just Yawn when you come in. If they switch you got a free Curse. If they didn't you can probably take a hit with a quite decent 25 HP and then Quick Attack them. Iron Tail provides coverage vs. rock-types that would otherwise wall you. Sadly, Bidoof doesn't get Waterfall like Bibarel so this set doesn't have much hope with steel-types, but if sleep clause isn't activated you can always Yawn them. Quote:

(calcs assume Oran Berry) Fire Blast: (51.35% - 64.86%) Sucker Punch: (27.03% - 35.14%) The only way Houndour is beating it is if it rolls absolute max damage both times. Not likely by any stretch of imagination. Also, Phanpy can actually set up Stealth Rock on Sucker Punch. Houndour would be very silly to risk that. Quote:
Healing move means squat for Hippo in the lead position. Quote:
Lead Phanpy: 27 HP / 16 Atk / 14 Def / xx SAtk / 11 SDef / 11 Spe Lead Hippopotas: 26 HP / 16 Atk / 16 Def / xx SAtk / 11 SDef / 9 Spe Phanpy's biggest stat advantage over Hippo is its Speed. This speed allows it to outpace Lead Machop and SubSeed Lead Snover (which it OHKOes with Head Smash). It's other stat advantage is HP. That 1 HP allows it to survive silly things like Houndour Overheat, being 3HKOed by Voltorbs Hidden Power, etc. These are just stat advantages.... Quote:
Crunch is good, but Head Smash is better. Head Smash, while being less accurate, hits ghosts for merely 10 base power less than Crunch. Crunch doesn't hit important Pokemon like Paras, Mantyke, or most importantly, Gligar (on the switch). The 80% accuracy and recoil are definitely worth the trade for not allowing your team to be fucked over by Mantyke or Paras. Ice Shard is what seals the deal for me. Being able to be a Gligar check, while also having something to revenge kill Sub sweepers and the like is invaluable. The lack of priority on Hippopotas really turns me off. Overall, I really think if you want the more versatile and effective lead Pokemon, use Phanpy. If you want to use Sandstorm for whatever reason, use Hippopotas. Quote:

STAB on Extremespeed helps, I guess.
Anyway, glad to see that I made a difference. I see a small usage in Outrage on Munchlax, Snatch on Stunky, Wish on Bagon(which I used illegally, whoops), and a bit of Wynaut starters. |

An unboosted XS from Ziggy is more powerful than an unboosted XS from Dratini. Dratini hits 17 attack with Adamant. Zigzagoon hits 13 x 1.5 = 19.5 - Goon's XS will do ~15% more than Tini's will, unboosted. Tini does have the better secondary moveset though (gets Tbolt for Mantyke, still gets Surf, gets a rediculous Draco Meteor, Fire Blast for Bronzor) and also has 20 more base stat points in SpA. He doesn't get anything to hit ghosts with though other than Draco Meteor. ---------------- Goon Shadow Ball vs 22 HP/min SpD Missy - 45.45% - 63.64% Goon Shadow Ball vs 25 HP/min SpD missy - 40.00% - 56.00% Goon Shadow Ball vs 19HP/10 SpD Gastly - 94.74% - 115.79% (100% with rocks) Goon Surf vs 23 HP/min SpD Gligar - 69.57% - 86.96% Goon XS vs 23 HP/min Def Gligar - 30.43% - 43.48% (Tini XS vs 23 HP/min Def Gligar - 34.78% - 43.48%) Goon XS vs 19 HP/min Def Croagunk - 84.21% - 100.00% (46.15% KO with rocks) (Tini XS vs 19 HP/min Def Croagunk - 63.16% - 78.95%) Goon XS vs 21 HP/9 Def Houndour - 76.19% - 100.00% (100% KO with rocks) (Tini XS vs same - 71.43% - 85.71%, 74% KO with rocks) Goon XS vs 19HP/11 Def Tini - 68.42% - 84.21% (58.97% KO with rocks) (Tini XS vs 19HP/10 Def Ziggy - 57.89% - 73.68%) ...Yeah, maybe Tini does do it better. But Ziggy adds a coolness factor and gains a few KOs that Tini doesn't get with XS, mostly on uber-frail pokes. And then the fact that Tini does everything better after a DD. All of those were assuming LO on Tini - he gets even less kos holding an Oran. The set I would use though would be a mixed priority that didn't need any setup - it could just come in and wreak havoc with decently powered XS and good secondary options. I'll test a Tini in the spot and see if I like it better. |

Awesome to see a good number of battles, I really need to get back into battling. Hopefully over the holidays I will get my mojo back. Misdreauvs' usage is really strong and it's quite clearly centralising the metagame (Stunky usage)
It would be interesting to see the metagame without Missy and Gligar and who if any one pokemon would become the new top dog, I wouldn't be surprised if fighters were to become more dominant in that scenario.

Really, the problem with Pichu is that, the great Volt Tackle you're talking about comes off of 14 Attack, max. It also has horrible stats everywhere that isn't its passable Speed. Due to this low stat the the prevelance of Ground-types like Gligar, it isn't considered very good.

A plus +6 XS OHKO's the entire metagame, bar Ghosts obviously, with NO EV's, AND - Attack nature. Even Aron and Onix are both OHKO'd; 0 EV's, Modest natured, +6 Extremespeed against Max/Max Impish Aron: 32 Atk vs 20 Def & 24 HP (80 Base Power): 34 - 40 (141.67% - 166.67%) 0 EV's, Modest natured, +6 Extremespeed against Max/Max Impish Onix: 32 Atk vs 27 Def & 23 HP (80 Base Power): 25 - 30 (108.70% - 130.43%) As you can see, +6 XS OHKO's everything that isn't immune to it. With Salac, it outspeeds everything to a certain Mach Punch, and most things to the Sucker. Zigzagoon is an extreme beast, being capable of OHKOing the entire metagame.

You forgot to set the level to 5. The actual figures are 12.5% - 16.67%% against Aron (20.83% - 25% with max+ Attack) and 22.73% - 27.27% against Onix (33.33% - 41.67% with max+ attack). Still not too bad considering you're against the most defensive Pokemon in LC who resist your attack. Seed Bomb will do 200% - 254.55% to max/max+ Onix and 58.33% - 75% to max/max+ Aron. Rock Smash OHKOes Aron, but only does 54.55% - 72.73% to Onix.
