Wow! Thanks so much for doing this! I really wanted these statistics to be collected, but I thought it would never happen. I'm very happy now. :)

Very, very interesting stats. Thanks a bunch!

3. Latias - 3.53% (2959)
10. Salamence - 2.63% (2202)
This is one of the things that caught my eye.

Latias can set-up CM's on status-less variants (or CM less, or maybe I'm missing something) and it also threatens Celebi with DM and Trick if it plans to switch on a Surf or T-Bolt. Celebi can do nothing in the revenge killing department too.

Salamence threatens a LO DM and Fire Blast, and as Celebi don't run a lot of Spe EVs often, it can't outspeed. A DD on the switch can open up a sweep if Celebi is weakened enough to not take a F-Blast (which is often), while Celebi can only T-Wave or HP Iceback really. Again. revenge killing isn't much of an option.

^Pokemon that switch into Ampharos on the Standard Ladder. Obviously you don't see Ampharos that much and I was picking it at random but why switch in Scizor? aha xD

Thanks for the stats, Colin. How much harder is it to separate out "true switches" from "switching in after a KO"?

Yeah, but don't you think that's a wasted team position? Abamasnow is (usually) only found on Hail teams, and Scizor will be Bullet Punching and U-Turning, so there isn't much of a way to get in.

There really is one 4 good checks in UU, 3 bulky waters and Altaria. I'd imagine Slowbro being 3 or 4, statistics say he's 3, so leave it at that.

But why isn't something like <insert faster Pokemon that OHKOes Blaziken> in that spot? I think being no. 3 is passed the "revenge killer" group, and Slowbro definitely shouldn't be ahead of things like Altaria (this is the biggest "wtf?"), Arcanine, Moltres, Blastoise, etc. Things that can actually "beat" Blaziken if it uses Fire Blast (its most common attack).

Why not? Altaria is a good check to the mix set, but certainly not the physical set where it gets pummeled by Stone Edge, assuming it comes in on an attack, then followed up by Stone Edge. The counters varies. Maybe physical sets have risen, and Slowbro seems to be a good check to it. (best)

Yeah it is.

Pokemon that switch into Rotom-H

5. Scizor - 4.46% (5579)

I doubt there all Pursuiting Choiced Shadow Balls and HP Ices.

Anyway, this is great.

Code:
| Blaziken | Nature | Adamant | 13.3 |
| Blaziken | Nature | Jolly | 12.6 |
That's how often Blaziken is physical. It's most popular move set by a large margin is Superpower / Fire Blast / Hidden Power / Vacuum Wave, and the attack that MixKen uses most often is Fire Blast.

Altaria is afraid of Stone Edge? It doesn't even show up on the stat sheet.

So still, Slowbro shouldn't be switching into Blaziken unless there is no other option. Any Pokemon that actually take a Fire Blast should come in first, and every team should have one of those, and it not be Slowbro. For the people who switch-in Slowbro: you're going to lose your physical wall before you can say Hidden Power if you keep switching into Blaziken like that <.<.

Very nice job colin.
Do the switch stats also count for after a pokemon has fainted?

Just something about statistics, Scizor is the most used pokemon so by default it is one more teams and will have to switch in more often at some point, even if it's a bad switch in (noobs, nothing better in the late game, possibly Roar/Whirlwind?).

Also don't discount double switching like Scizor into a Shadow Ball then switch in Latias on the T-Bolt/Overheat.

Lots of possible reasons for these odd trends but those are some that spring to mind.

That is still a percentage, therefore Slowbro is still a switch-in. If it was 0 percent, then you start questioning why it comes in on Blaziken. Plus, it doesn't always have to come in on Fire Blast, sometimes on predicted Superpower.

Predicted Superpowers, revenge kills and 25% of Blaziken =/= no. 3 on switch-ins against something that counters 90% of all Blaziken (Altaria). It's people assuming 'Hey it's not very effective! It can wall this thing!'. I'm just saying, it's a bad idea.

I summed up all the switch-ins and divided by the number of teams used, and found out that every player on average does 6.2768 switches in every battle.

I kinda find this number very small, to be honest, considering that a team has 6 Pokemon. :o Maybe it's because too many players forfeit early on in the game?

That does seem a bit small, even with the DC'ers everywhere. I can't find a way for it to be that low, as every "standard" battle has at least 10 switches in it (and 10 is also pretty small, oh well...), and most of the battles are standard battles, aren't they?

This makes little-to-no sense...
