THE PIRAMID TOURNEY:

I'd like to make another different tourney. it'd be like this:

* Teams made of 4 members:

- An admin: Role he'd be the "brain" of the team, i'll tell you later why.

- A mod

- A regular: old nb player (good or not, it depends on you), but not modded for any reason.

- A newbie: we all love some new players, they are fresh and cool, and i think this would be a cool way to introduce them into smogon.

4 divisions:

watch out! strategy works here. the divisions would be:

- RBY

- GSC

- RS 200

- RS 386

one member for each division, but the thing is you don't know where are the other teams' members going to play (so maybe the admin gets paired with the other 3 newbies, lol)

Another special notes:

* sleep, freeze, self ko, battle timeout on (unrated and disallow and hp bars animated are optional)

* lati@s, deoxys all forms, groudon, mew, kyogre, rayquaza, mewtwo, wobby, ho oh and lugia are "banned" (read below).

* each team is ALLOWED TO USE ONE UBER PER ROUND. they must pm me with the uber they'll use and wich layer is going to use that.

* i'll run this as a "league mode"

* i need to know if you are interesented to start making the list of people considered newbies and regulars.

I'd say let the Triforce Tournament completely run before doing this. havoc was first. It isn't a bad idea but we have a lot of proposals and tournaments running at the moment.

I am, however, completely against the one 00ber per round. In the hands of a skilled player, a wobb, mewtwo, latias, etc. is an automatic win, barring extreme luck. In the hands of a newbie, an 00ber is equally dangerous with the right moveset. Having the 00ber basically gives the game to the guy who uses it. IMO, this should either be a free for all with 00bers, or no 00bers at all.

But put me down as a newbie, I've only been here for 4 years! ._.

Ok, I'm a vet. =(

And lastly, mentioning this, I immediately see a problem with team distribution. There are not enough mods and admins to go around with all the newbies. There might not even be enough vets. If you look at Smogon tourney's list, you'll see clearly the distribution of admins, mods, vets, and newbies who want to participate in a tournament.

But I like this idea, and agreeing with the others, let triforce finish first.

That being said, I predict the only Uber we'll ever see if Mewtwo in RBY. That's because a team without it is pretty much guaranteed to lose to a team with it. Bad idea if you ask me.

Complete newbie to the smogon community.

The thing that brought me to smogon to begin with was the fact that I was starting to suck so bad because of not battling enough constantly, so you're right about the introducing new people to smogon part.

This is interesting. The way you describe this... each team would have 1 admin? There are only 4 forum admins who really play, and I can think of a comparable number (skarm, chaos, CS, Vineon?) on the server... would that mean there could only be a pretty limited number of teams? Also, even allow 1 uber in RBY? In the hands of a moderately skilled player who just has decent experience using it and plays it well (not just saying "Oh Mewtwo I just Amnesia twice and Blizzard/T-bolt to victory" and then it gets paralyzed, weakened slightly, then owned by low-health Pokemon's self-KO move), Mewtwo /will/ cause that player to win. Amnesia/Barrier/Ice Beam/Recover, off the top of my head.
