Smogon's YouTube Channel
About This Thread
As most of you already know by now, Smogon has a YouTube channel (which can be found here). The purpose of this thread is for users to be able to post suggestions for the channel and voice their opinions on how we've been doing things so far. If you don't like the music, aren't satisfied with the quality of the videos, or anything else that comes to mind, then feel free to post! Video Index - Last Updated: August 21st, 2011.

Want to Record? Right now we're pretty short on recorders, so we'll take all the help we can get. If you'd like to help record tournament matches, then you'll need to download Hypercam2. If you have any tournament matches recorded, feel free to PM me with a link to a place where we can download your video (uneditted please) and then we'll put it on the channel. So again, feel free to post opinions and ideas for the channel here in this thread, but be appropriate and don't clutter the thread with too many replies. If you can, edit one of your previous posts instead of making a new post. Also, you can all expect more videos very soon, so rate and subscribe! A host of new videos have been uploaded to the channel, including the Smogon Tour finals. undisputed Edit: I transferred this post to Symphonyx64 so he can update the OP. As I've already done before, I've no problem recording wi-fi battles, so I'm still up for those recording when possible.
I would just like to get some credits for it though (like a link to my own channel), and better battle descriptions: The NU final was a best out of three battle, and I provided two videos, while only the last we did was uploaded, with no mention at all about the kind of final it was, so obviously, the viewer couldn't grasp why there were so many predictions and such.

Yeah I haven't gotten around to it, I'll get mekkah to do it later though. Regarding giving a link to your channel in the description, I honestly don't see why we should do that. This is Smogon's channel as a whole, it doesn't make sense to encourage people to watch videos of individual users. But what we can do is put something in the tags of the Wi-Fi videos to ensure that some of your videos will show up in the Related Videos section.

The descriptions in the videos are essentially non-existent. At least for the tournament videos there is almost no way for a viewer to grasp the special rules/concepts of the tournament.

You guys could maybe start posting some videos on the pokemoshpit which is basically a channel where some people with over 1000 subscribers can post vids of pokemon battles. It is kinda like a machinima for pokemon. It could certainly help make smogon more known around youtube.

Fair enough; We need more recording. I know that 6AM didn't want the nonagon vids to be uploaded, but it's worth asking for permission on the finals of the various tournaments.

Sorry for the lack of videos. I have been pretty lazy lately and it didn't help that I lost my recording stuff / some videos I was planning on uploading a while ago due to a virus, But you can all look forward to videos from Smogon Tour X very soon.

The channel itself could use some improvement (such as a description). Lots of flames have been going on in it.

Alright so here's an update on the progress. I've edited and uploaded 6 to file sharing website for Mekkah, so once he downloads those, they will be up.
Symphonyx64 has joined me in recording and I think he had close to 5 that he is working on editing. So expect videos soon!

just to reiterate on some of the earlier comments but i've seen a lot of complaints too on some youtube videos. people really want a description of specific tournament rules otherwise it's hard for people to understand the scope of the tournament if they didn't participate/heard of it. i'm proposing that all smogon youtube videos have a label in the description called "Tournament Specific Rules:" that gives a brief description of what the tournament is about. if mekkah isn't willing to do it i suppose i could or whoever else is interested.

I used to have a system where I would put the name / theme of the tournament with a link to the tournament thread and then include the two battlers usernames and the music that's featured in the video. I plan on starting this up again as it helps the viewers understand what's going on.

I've added a whole new playlist consisting of 18 Netbattle videos from SPL. New Smogon Tour videos from the past few weeks have also been uploaded and there are more to come.
