Alright, after I posted a large gallery of art for CAP 9, I decided to make a fakedex art thread. Thus, I give y'all:

New Dex (notes: Concepts I recycle from my "Old dex" may be reworked a little bit. Amoebud especially.):

001: Amoebud: Mono-Grass Plant Cell Pokemon
002: Amoebloom: Mono-Grass Euglena Pokemon
003: Amoeblade: Grass/Steel Blade Plant Pokemon
004: Cutleflame: Mono-Fire Lava Cuttlefish Pokemon
005: Octopyre: Mono-Fire Fire Octopus Pokemon
006: Krakignite: Fire/Ice Trench Kraken Pokemon
007: Angeloha: Water/Rock Angelfish Pokemon
008: Retsai: Water/Rock Moai Pokemon
009: Tikinami: Water/Rock Island King Pokemon
...
???: Battewurm: Ground/Electric Earthworm Pokemon
...
256: Antaron: Water/Ghost Starlight Pokemon

Old Dex (older Pokemon concepts, BEFORE I changed my art style. Some are good, some suck. As they don't really bear on how good the rest of my art is...I'll probably be remaking the best of these [starters and Antaron, really.])

<spoiler>
001: Amoebud-Microbe Pokemon-Grass(left)
002: Amoebloom-Lily Pokemon-Grass(bottom)
003: Amoeblade-Petal Dance Pokemon-Grass/Steel(right)

005: Octopyre-Lava Squid Pokemon-Fire(top left)

007: Angeloha-Angelfish Pokemon-Water/Rock (left)
008: Retsai-Tiki Pokemon-Water/Rock (right)
009: Tikinami-Island King Pokemon-Water/Rock (bottom, no pun intended)

Gallery: http://www.majhost.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=213196

First off, Amoebud, the Microbe Pokemon, and its evolutionary line. I came up with these long ago, after reading about euglenas in science class, small plant-like microbes with an eyespot and chloroplasts. It made sense to me to make it a . At the time I associated the Steel-type with DNA (I actually came up with a Steel/Normal Ditto evo shortly afterwards,) however, once Powerpoint showed up as an art medium, I decided to augment the Steel-typing on Amoeblade.
Next, we have Cuttleflame. This initially came from an idea to have starters that evolved to gain the secondary starter type that was super effective against them. After I scrapped that...they stayed. Cuttleflame is found exclusively in volcanoes, as it isn't strong enough to survive cold water yet. Octopyre I added a few squid-like touches to, in addition to giving its tentacles fire tips. It's strong enough to survive in an aquatic environment, though a few still remain in their native volcano. However, to reach its final evolution, the Fire/Ice-typed Pokemon Krakignite, it needs cold and pressure, as that found in the deep sea. Krakignite was an idea that has had a lot of variations, but then again, so has the entire evo line. It feeds on deep-sea methane to keep its flame alive, strong enough to burn even underwater. The fire effects were made using a mix of transparent gradients and soft edges modifiers (For the eyes I also added a glow effect.) I decided to add the blue sea vents both because of the squid-fins I gave Octopyre, and because I needed something to represent its Ice-typing a little better. Yeah typing sux, but at that time I barely knew beans about competitive Pokemon. Also, before you ask anything, yes it looks like a certain Yugioh card. Given I'd seen them 3 years prior, I thought the idea was cool enough to make into a mon.
</spoiler>

I draw my art on Microsoft Powerpoint, by the way.

More coming soon.

:) Pretty colours. You can refer something from Maplestory, just a clue.

Define what this thing from MapleStory is.

Anyways...from before CAP 9 even reached the artwork threads...

I give you, Autotecon!

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe.../autotecon.png
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe...autotecon2.png
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe...autotecon3.png

Basically, I made this guy for when everyone was discussing Multitype in the concept discussion topic of CAP 9. In the end 4.5 concepts (counting a prototype Checkmate that more resembled a halfbreed with Gen. Empoleon's entry,) ended up replacing it: A grim reaper mole I had brewing in my head, a stop-sign wielding kangaroo (where I learned that apparently Kangaroos can't have split legs,) a sand genie (rejected for Checkmate) and Checkmate's prototype before his current form.

Also, my fakemon region is well known for the fact it is home to the only known Fossil pokemon can be found in the wild. Hence, I bring you, Turtasaur (the smaller dino) Titurtan (the HUGE dino)!

http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe...s/titurtan.png

Yeah, they're really simple. Who cares, with an ability that negates 4x weaknesses by changing them to immunities (it's Rock/Normal,) and 255/90/90 base defenses, only supereffective hits can come CLOSE to a KO. (And given a few other threats I'm "reviving" (pun mostly intended) and a few I'm creating, Water-types will have much mure dominance in this metagame.)

I like Turtasaur. He seems pretty interesting. I think that's the best thing I've seen you draw. My only critique would be to maybe add some sort of marking on his body in order to introduce a third body color.

Which one, Turtasaur or Titurtan? Turtasaur is pretty simple, but Titurtan has a really complex shell. Also: They already have 3 body colors: Brown, gray, and white.

Anyways, I give y'all the last set of starters, and...*drumrolls* A Farfetched evolution! (That's also original!)

Like the Bulbasaur line, Angeloha (basic,) Retsai (first evolution) and Tikinami (second evo) have a secondary type: Rock. It's not the most auspicious typing, but hey, it's cool.

Basically the idea of a fish came around after I discovered that...we only have one water-typed starter that vaguely resembles a fish. So in other words...the line is based on angelfish. They also have influence from polynesian tribes and Moai statues from Easter Island. In fact, Retsai's name is Easter spelled backwards, with an I at the end because it's the first letter in "island." So yeah.

And, of course, the original Evofetch'ion.

It seems to have changed its stick into a bow. That's the original part 1. It can also fire its tail feathers (the Wild Duck evolved into a Wild Turkey,) as arrows, coining it the name Farfletchd. If it looks like Farfetch'd, but as a turkey in a top hat wielding a bow made of leek, (note: Farfletchd lacks an apostrophe because of 10-character limit. Same reason Gyrarados is not Skullkraken. and Feraligatr is not Feraligator) it is. I essentially tried to make it Farfetch'd but as an archer turkey instead of a sword-wielding duck. Oh, and it's Normal/Flying: Most varieties change the main type to Fighting.

I'll probably update this from time to time, but for now...

It's a Horse instead of a Rook. xD

And trust me, I like "Angeloha, Retsai, and Tikinami"

Thanks!

BTW, eventually I decided on the usual: a bog standard base 600 cute event legend, like Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Manaphy, and Shaymin. Thus, I give y'all...

Antaron! The Water/Ghost Starlight Pokemon, Antaron is a mighty attacker. With its signature move, Finblade, it decimates its foes. In addition, it wields other new powerful moves, like the newly introduced Tsunami: Essentially a Water Leaf Storm, and Shade Bomb, a powerful physical 100 BP Ghost-typed move.

Poses:
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe...antaronsky.png
http://www.majhost.com/gallery/ToaNe...ntaronpool.png

I used a lot of translucent gradients to get the scale design. The star pattern was made by applying glow effects to a tiny, no outline circle. Pearls were made by expanding the stars and adding thin outlines. For the reflected pool, I ended up "welding" the lines of 2 polygons together to create the background on Paint.

Since I have homework and Antaron already took some work, no second thing today. May upload Protocheck and Genie (my two other rejected CAP entry ideas, though Protocheck is really just Checkmate's prototype,) but for now...

I think Antaron looks pretty sweet. Plus i bet water/ghost would have pretty sweet typing.

The rest of your pokemon are pretty nice too.

Alright, I have not one, not two, but THREE new Pokemon to show y'all, all three third-stage evolutions!

First off, to celebrate Smogon, I give you...CHOAKING!

Obviously a Weezing evo. Poison/Steel.

Next, the other Team Rocket veteran returns with an evo...Adnocana!

Arbok evo. Adnocana is the name of a very large powerful snake spelled backwards. Poison/Dragon. This guy is good in its own right, though I don't know if it looks as much like an Arbok evo as in my original sketches...

And last but not least, Silph Co, to rival Artak Replay co.'s hacked Porygon2 evolution, have decided to express a far more well-developed format of the Porygon line. Taking into account various common battle factors like Gyrarados, Heatran, Vaporeon, and Jirachi, it took the most powerful ability in Porygon2's arsenal, Trace, and reapplied it to a "defender to end all offenders:"

Meet Porygon3, the HD pokemon.

If Porygon represents the N64, Porygon2 represents the Gamecube, and Porygon-Z represents to an extent the Wii, then Porygon3 represents whatever (if ever) Nintendo makes that has hi-def capabilities. Normal typed, branched evolution from Porygon2.

It gains 30 points in both defenses, at the cost of its attack and speed being reducing to Porygon's level. It uses its powerful targeter as a shield, using its frame-tight reaction rate (though it is sluggish as an attacker) to consecutively block attacks and defeat its foes through attrition. I really like how the HD swan turned out. It isn't perfect, but it's neat. I tried to fade the edges to make it look hi-def.

Anyways, the CAP 9 art poll is up, so make sure to vote for Checkmate!

So, anyways...

-Torterra-Infernape-Feraligatr-

EDIT: Well...I may not have been in the limelight, but at least I got 17 votes...so at least I wasn't in the "rock bottom." More like bottom of UU.

Ah well, it's a better Dark/Ground idea for my fakedex than the grim reaper mole that became my first hypothetical CAP entry. CAP 10, I'm watching you...

"moar, I lieks moar!" is what my mudkip says

love the hi-def porygon. could've gotten a little creative with the name instead of "Porygon3" though.

What do you use to make your drawings? They seem line-y and box-y.

Porygon-A?

I use Powerpoint and its drawing tools. It's possible to make MUCH higher quality art with it (heck a guy on another forum who uses it actually inspired me with sheer awesome,) but personally I like the more vector-y style I use. (Also makes it pretty quick to make art, as I can finish entire evolutionary lines in a free bell without Photoshop.)

Anyways, I made a ton of stuff since my last update, some good (Aldin, Anorith, Seedily, Lileep, Pyrat/Prymal, a legendary Pokemon and lore drawings,) and some with lesser effort (Yeah...my Surliken/Surlinja is kind of simple,) so I'll have to hold off on showing it all at once. (besides, I have a persuasive speech to give for a public speaking class on Wednesday.)

Will update soon...

BUMP.

Alright, my favorite hosting site is down. I also wanted to create an av for another forum SO badly. However...I did make an interim Photobucket account today, so I'll show you some pictures.

Sonic+Phazon (I just got Metroid Prime: Trilogy about a week or two ago)=AWESOME.

Yeah...in addition to Sonic (my favorite videogame char, lol,) I also developed a like of Metroid...this was the inevitable end result.

And because of Powerpoint, I can delete the base image from SonicNewsNetwork (woot) and get...this! Sonic's Phazon ghost I thought was so cool, I kept it and made it into an avatar!

I'll upload the umpteen Pokemon I've made since I last posted when the hosting site gets back up.

Cool updates.

I make art too, but I just draw it then scan it to my computer. I am thinking about starting an art thread with some drawings from my sister, but I have to wait until the icbb goes away.

Majhost is back up, and with it...UPDATES!

I'll first introduce round 1: You will be haunted by 3 (Okay, 6, 7 if you count an alt gender form,) Ghost-types...

Spirit 1: Chantom/Chanshee: A ghost/Normal type with AWESOME. While Chantom is probably the most simple (and yet one of the better) fakemon I've made yet (Only around 6 shapes,) Chanshee is my first attempt at a gender modification, with the male having a bass cleft crest and the female having a treble clef crest. I like the flute effects (Hey, Hyper Voice and Sing are both normal,) and I think this is perhaps the line is the best among the 3 ghost lines I've made for this post.
Spirit 2: Weether/Holow: Ghost/Grass, duh? I think this is also pretty good, especially Holow: I DEFINITELY got the glow, transparency, and soft edges right on this one with the "core energy" of Holow. This guy was actually inspired by Bronzong...also submit this guy as Grass/Ghost Zong in What if a Pokemon were a Different Type?
Spirit 3: Surliken/Surlinja: Steel/Ghost...yeah...not too proud of this guy. I could have sworn I had a recolor somewhere, but oh well. Only one of them is actually in my fakedex (Surliken,) Surlinja...is in a special "International Dex" I have yet to number...

But ah well. Coming up next...Fossil Fighters!

I stalk this thread, I know.

The ghost/normal seems more like a ghost/steel, but they all look amazing. You should try to cme up with base stats for your fakemon.

OHES NOES TORTFERNGATR HAZ GONE 2 TEH DARK SIDEZ!

HE HAZ SUBVERTED TEH RULES ABOUT STUPID CAT IMAGEZ BY MAKING LOLRIDLEHZ!

Seriously, you guys had to laugh at the Pika-burger, though. That's probably what a lot of fans want to do to Ash's godchu.

Anyways, on a more serious note, here are 2 entries for WSC I didn't end up entering:

For 15 and 13, respectively. Tropical Torterra and a Regidark.

More updates (including the actual fossils!) soon.

And as for the "lolridleys," let's just say that I went temporarily insane on that bus ride when I got the idea to make them...

...*nukes Zerg base that grew up here when I stopped updating.*

Anyways, I've recently made an update to my style. I'll probably include it in my Cap 11 submission...while I admit some of my earlier stuff in here was actually good (Antaron, Darkspine traceover, Porygon-HD, Angeloha line,) and others were decent but just a bit too flat (Chantom line,) I freely admit my Farfetch'd evo, while creative, is in the bottom of the fanboy dogpile that is Farfetch'd evo ideas.

I've also patched up my design inspirations: after reading Bulbapedia's "On the Origin of Species" articles, I've decided to see if I could do a little more creative thinking on my Pokemon. And I think I've made something you all will enjoy...

I'm replacing the "Viris" line in my fakedex with this as a pseudo-legendary line. The first two stages are based off porpoises and dolphins, as well as juvenile Orca whales. For Okanorca (and a few patterns on Agiorca for consistency,) I actually turned to Wikipedia for Orca whale legends: and while I realize the culture's myths that I tried to work it off of may just be a Wikipedia invention, I based Okanorca off the Siberian Yupik's perception of the Orca. (Scroll down.) Only loosely, and only extending to its name, Pokedex, and body patterns, but hey, YOU try fusing a wolf to an Orca whale without making it look like a Digimon (or for an even worse insult...a Neopet,) and without making its prevos look totally ad-hoc...BTW, Okanorca is a corruption of "okami" (japanese for wolf, and no I have not played that game though I apparently should,)+orca.

Oh, and White Pulse: Prevents Sp. A. drops.

Enjoy.

Microsoft Powerpoint.

...I got the trick off another site. At its pinnacle, it can make really, REALLY good art.

I'm not quite at the pinnacle yet. Getting closer, though.

Thought so. I make my arts in PowerPoint myself.
All of your lines are too rigid and straight, try using the curve tool. You can modify the curve by clicking on a point in edit points and dragging the two little white boxes which appear. Also if you didn't know, you can use alt to move points more freely in edit points mode.

I use it (though I'm normally lazy and use the "Smooth Point" tool,) just not as much. The alt trick I didn't know about, I'll try that next time.

I'll use the curve tool more, though. I actually used it heavily in my revamp of my old Viris concept (I removed the forced third evo Vamvire, renamed Viris to Virasite, and changed the original Virasite's name to Viruin.)

BTW, here they are.

The Parasite Pokemon and the Megavirus Pokemon.

Virasite was actually inspired by just various little parasite/bloodsucker concepts I had in my brain, but primarily on an interesting little Lego MOC I found. Called the Macrovirus, it was amazingly simple, but it looked amazingly cool. It was entered into a blog contest no another forum I frequent, and I loved it so much I adapted it to become Virasite (then Viris, who took a lot more inspiration as that concept.) Viruin (once called Virasite, when I had the Electivire-ized Vamvire evo to it) it based on a virus, the ones with the screw+gem shape on them. I added features to make you all realize this thing evolves from Virasite, something the original was copiously lacking in, and I removed the small DNA transferring part viruses have via an oversight. Viruin's mouth is below its upper shell, for some VERY creepy animation effects if I were to make a B/W sprite of it.

Virasite is obvious. Viruin is virus+ruin, though I stuck with that due to also referencing proteins (titin [its chemical name is the longest word in English, with over 150,000 letters,] hemoglobin, keratin, etc.) which viruses use to coat their vulnerable dna with. So yeah.

Contagious is basically doubling Poison chances. Swarm is obvious flavor-wise: Viruses attack by making more numbers from your cells. So yeah.

I'll probably revamp my starters soon. Any other tips besides using curves more?

Oh, and BTW, can you guess the reference the shinies reference?

Smooth Point is pretty good too for a mixture of straight and curved lines, but alot of these have too many of the former. The orca line for example seem like they should all be smooth and streamline but they're all stiff and blocky.

Yeah, I'm switching around that, and I'm revising the Orca. I'm getting better.

BTW, any comments about Virasite family?
