What are some of your favorite Pokemon to use to stop weather teams?
Personally, I really hate using Politoed or Ninetales, so most of my teams have to have some way to shut down rain, sun, and sand teams. SD Toxicroak used to be a really good way to shut down rain teams until all of them started running Psychic on everything to kill it. Imo the worst weather to play against is sun. Sleep Powder spam + Volcarona and other boosted fire users, along with chlorophyll make it really annoying to play against. I usually am forced to use Tyranitar as my solution to sun teams, this isn't always effective though since things like Dugtrio are becoming very common. Discuss!! |

I've had success with the anti-weather defensive core of Skarmory, Heatran, and Gastrodon. Skarm beats SS, Heatran beats sun and hail (just watch out for Dugtrio), and Gastrodon beats rain.

seconding this, this is a really solid defensive core in general even without heatran, it counters weather really well.

Shiftry is worth looking into, it kills Tyranitar with low kick, out speeds and Leaf Storms Politoed, and has chlorophyll to abuse sun if you can't get rid of it. Personally, your best bet is to u-turn/baton pass/volt switch with something that usually doesn't run said move (i.e., u-turn Gliscor) and switch into Wobbofett.

I don't really think that Wobb would be that effective for handling the weather starters. Politoed can sleep/perish song it, Ninetales can sleep/flat out maul with Sun-Boosted Fire attacks, and T-tar has mixed attacking and a supereffective STAB crunch. Wobbuffet relies too much on being able to predict accurately, and all of them have a significant prediction game going.

Anyway, Ferrothorn/Taunt Jellicent tends to wall most Rain teams pretty hard and I can only see that being the case even more with Thundurus gone.

OTR Reuniclus hands down. Just pair it with a volt turn combo and you're set to sweep. Otherwise, a core of Rotom-w (for rain), birdy heatran (for sun and hail and checking sand threats), and Breloom/Virizion (for wrecking sand) suffices for me.

If, as I'm assuming, you are asking for what OTR means, it's an abbreviation for Offensive Trick Room. The set I believe is Trick Room/Psychic/Focus Blast/Shadow Ball with an ev spread of something like +spatk/-spd 252hp/ 252spatk/4something with 0 spd ivs.

Gardevoir was a good weather counter in previous gens, because it could copy a sweeper's ability with Trace, outspeed, and KO with 125 base special attack.

Nasty Plot Celebi with HP Ice + Earth Power can single-handedly take on Rain teams.
I also like incorporating sweepers that can take advantage of the opponent's weather. IE, I have a Volcarona that can take advantage of the opponent's Sun, and Excadrill that can take advantage of the Sand / checks other Excadrills. By no means are they "non-viable" outside of their weather, either! Bulky Gyarados paired with a good Rock resist can check Sand threats well. Gyarados + Heatran also provides a decent Sun check. |

Rain dance kingdra is great against sun teams, but people know about this one already.
What Pocket said is true. Offensive Altaria can actually work rather well as it outspeeds the most common sun abusers (nobody runs timid venusaur and the faster ones are all RU/UU). Safegaurd prevents enemy chlorphyll pokemon from getting the best of you and you're even free to dragon dance afterwards. Of course, altaria doesn't counter every pokemon on a good sun team. It's mainly something to work against non-Hp ice ninetales and chlorophyll abusers.

Dragonite is great against all weathers, now that exca is banned. i stops volca and sleep powderers with lum, it can kill toxicraok/windybro and other water types. It just needs to be carefull of that one poke, landorus.
IMO, heatran isnt that good against sun. Sure it owns those fire and grass types, but volcarona just comes in and gets free setup while tran cant touch it, except with hp rock. What you really need is hail cruel

Yes perdiction is key, but chances are Tyranitar will almost always attack (as opposed to being encore-locked into stealth rock/dragon dance). Ninetails requires prediction, but thats pokemon for you, and if he runs flamethrower a Wobbofett with 252 hp/252 special defense and a calm nature gets two tries to win the prediction war. If the tier is dream world Wobbofett can come in on sr, kill something, then custap destiny bond the next guy. |

Latios handels sun teams like a boss, its also pretty decent against rain teams if they aren't too hyper offensive. Sand team teams are totally countered by Gliscor and Bronzong.
By far my favorite was to deal with rain and sun is Chansey. Say goodbye to every special threat in the metagame outside of what? Chesto rest volanora and calm mind Reunicles, thats about it.

Snatch Chansey is one of the most fun things I've ever used. Doesn't lose to any setup sweeper other than gliscor and swords dancing fighting-types (it can stall out more conservative Bulk Up users by stealing the first bulk up then going to your physical wall), can toxic stall like a champion (also stalls out opposing Chansey/Blissey if you're running a full stall team with Toxic Spikes up by stealing their Softboiled/Aromatherapy), and can play mindgames with all kinds of dangerous pokemon like DDMence/Haxorus/etc. since it's powerful enough to tank an unboosted Outrage and let you go to your steel wall to phaze/counter them. Prediction-dependent, but rewarding on a stall team.
BulkyCM Latias handles rain decently if you can trap and eliminate Ferrothorn. Scarf Gardevoir manhandles most HO Sun teams with stab psychic and has Trick to mess up rain stall. Balloon Chandelure with HP Ground is one of the greatest immediate checks to Sun teams; though it can pretty much only trade 1v1 with a sweeper, it can handle more defensive sun teams with a Sub+3 attacks set. |

I posted this in the suspect forum,
I use a team concisting of SwiftSwim Physical Dragon Dance Kingdra Sublure Chandlure Acrobat Gliscor Choice Band Conkeldurr Physically Defensive Skarmory Specially Defensive Jellicent w/ Taunt I rarely see a weather team that can handle this barring stall to an extent

Choice specs ninetales is terrible, lol
anyways Mixed Rain Dance Kingdra is baller as ever, setting up against sun and sand teams and then wreaking havoc against rain teams Taunt + WoW Jellicent / Taunt + WoW Mew causes plenty of headaches as well in this physically oriented meta -- Not much can break Jellicent on a rain team as well, especially with Thundurus gone. Volt Switch from Rotom-W does like 50%.

Latias takes those sludge bombs and does about 70%-80% with unboosted Dragon Pulse, certainly not the best counter, but after a few stealth rock hits and life orb recoil, Venusaur is out of the game. And Latias can run HP-fire, in which case it does counter it. Your right about Gliscor, but usually Landorus will fire it off before predicting a Gliscor switch when none happens, then I know it has HP-ice and simply don't switch to it.
