![]() Name: Bellsprout Type: Grass / Poison Abilities: Chlorophyll: Doubles this Pokemon's speed in the sun. Dream World: Gluttony: Berries get eaten earlier than usual. Stats: HP: 50 Att: 75 Def: 35 SpA: 70 SpD: 30 Spe: 40 Code:

Bellsprout already has rather impressive offenses (75 and 70 ain't bad in LC), and has some powerful moves to abuse with them. Unfortunately for bellsprout, Weather ball and Power whip are an illegal combination, so choose whatever grass move suits your fancy. Seed bomb is the most reliable, and giga drain is slightly weaker, but can heal a bit (not that it will survive much in LC). Solar beam has a bit more use than in standard... just watch out for hippoptoas and snover. HP fire and Weather ball are obvious coverage moves for a sunny day team. The last 2 moves are situational. Sucker punch is a decent priority move, letting you take out mean old scarf ghastly and such (who out speed you if you choose a Naughty nature). Sleep powder can shut down a counter, and help you set up a growth. Sludge bomb is a powerful back up stab. Om nom nom Bellsprout @ Salac berry / Leichi Berry 236 Att / 196 Spe / 78 SpA Gluttony Naive Power Whip Substitute Sludge Bomb / HP Fire Sleep Powder / Swords Dance / HP Fire Not a great set all around, doesn't have that great a coverage either... But I just thought I'd try to show off a way to abuse his new ability gluttony. Pretty simple set, come in on something you can scare off or revenge. Set up a sub, or sleep powder em, and then proceed to get your berry after only one or two subs. Generally not as effective as the first set, but doesn't require the sun to set up, so can be used on other teams. Bellsprout wishes he got nature power. And that's bellsprout. A little interesting addition to the new LC metagame. Hope you enjoyed the synopsis and any comments or feedback is appreciated. Last edited by leingodf8; Dec 5th, 2010 at 3:32:08 PM. |

I'd say Weather Ball deserves its own slot, more power + freeing up HP for another type is too good for me to pass up, personally. I think there are way too many Grass STABs slashed in that first slot, too. :0 I kind of want to see Bullet Seed and Solarbeam gone. In general, seems like there are way too many options slashed over everything, really. Maybe you want to split it up into a Growth set and a non-Growth set or something, just a suggestion.
As for the Gluttony set, it's really not a terrible idea, however, I think it'd be better to go all-special, since Bellsprout's physical movepool leaves a lot to be desired. I'd say Sub+Giga Drain+Sludge Bomb/HP Fire+Sleep Powder/HP Fire with Petaya / Salac as the item. ...of course, without Chlorophyll, Bellsprout is gonna be way too easy to revenge-kill. :0 On second thought, maybe Sucker Punch needs a slash in there, if it's gonna have any hope of being useful at all. Chlorophyll-less Bellsprout is just way too slow. ...LOL, look at me treating this like an analysis. Replace 'you should' with 'I think' for all the stuff I said. (old habits, don'cha know)

It's too bad that SunSprout has such a severe case of Four Moveslot Syndrome ]: I'd definitely run GROWTH on any Chrolophyll Sprout set. The +2/+2 is just way too cool to pass up. +2 Power Whip and +2 Sludge Bomb punishing everything in sight from something like 22 speed? Yes please! I am torn on HP Fire versus Sleep Powderthough. HP Fire hits Bronzor, Snover and Nattorei, Sleep Powder stops them dead. Sleep Powder has more general utility, but HP Fire hits Sprout's main counters so well...

Snover can kill you with ice shard anyway, and a 100 base power ice type attack will still leave a dent if it switches directly in. (And if switches in on solarbeam, you're already screwed)

A STAB sludge bomb won't do much less than hp fire to a snover.

Yep, it makes a little difference
Hp Fire : 70*4 = 280 Sludge Bomb : 90*1,5*2 = 270 So it's just a question of whether Weather Ball is worth not having Power Whip. |

....yeah... you know, I guess HP Fire is better after all. :0 retaining Power Whip and hitting Snover > a few extra BP points, I suppose.

I remember Swords Dance / Sleep Powder / Seed Bomb / Sucker Punch being a great set on this guy, but Growth seems like it could be better. What boosts does Growth give now, +1 Atk / +1 SpAtk?
