It's early in the afternoon. Tumbleweeds roll by the old guard shack that once kept pedestrians and rivals in excavation away from the man-made crater on the other side of the gate. Apparently tumbleweeds aren't the only occupants anymore, however. It seems two rowdy trainers decided it would make the perfect locale for a battle and hopped the fence...and I got dragged here as the ref...sure hope the cops don't show up, even though it's abandoned, try not to make TOO much of a mess of it, m'kay?

-Now, what we have here is a construction experiment gone wrong. Originally thought to be rich in valuable ores, this giant hole in the ground was found to be a false alarm of sorts after a few years. The company managing it has since deserted it, and all is left is a meticulously drilled pit into the earth that forms a large bowl. The only hazards in this arena are self-created; rain creates mudslides, sandstorm blows all the dirt around to decrease visibility, sun makes the ground dry and unstable, and hail freezes the ground.-

Okay, Ziggy the Growlithe, let's take this guy down. Now, this guy is fast, so use Flame Wheel to get in close. Once you get in close, hit it with a Will-O-Wisp to build up damage. Then hit him with another Flame Wheel.

Damage? That's definitely not what we need.

Catch that puppy off guard first, with a Fake Out. Then, use Taunt to prevent Will-O-Wisp from going through. Finally, hit him square on with Faint Attack to get some solid damage in. Try to avoid that Flame Wheel as much as you can!

Both Pokemon are indeed sent into battle in this man-made crater, but something is amiss right from the get go. As soon as Slashe loses connection with the energy of the Pokeball and comes into full-fledged existence, it goes barreling after Ziggy, still barely emerging from its own respective capture device, with a devious grin and claws poised. With uncanny speed, Slashe begins to strike with Fake Out, but moments before the blow is struck, Ziggy lets out a low growl and bares her fangs, putting the fear of death in Slashe's heart, and lowering the overall effectiveness of his blow. Still, the shock of being attacked so soon, and from a source with such blinding agility
leaves Ziggy flinching, and unable to draw the flames for her attack!

Pleased with its work, and wanting to revel in the moment as long as possible, Slashe begins dancing and cheering for itself, culminating in the most brutally effective Taunt possible after such a spectacle. Ziggy becomes clearly annoyed with the senseless flaunting and begins building a blue flame in its mouth. But, as is so often the case in nature, pretty blue fire is much more difficult to summon up when you lack focus, and the flame fizzles out before it ever has a chance to be weaponized, much to Slashe's amusement.

With Ziggy confused and annoyed at the loss of her burning flames from the last action, Slashe once again begins to move, running towards Ziggy with intensity before shocking everyone by disappearing into thin air. Is Slashe a ninja? Did he reach 88 MPH and blaze onward into the future? Whatever the case, Slashe struck an instant later as an invisible force with Faint Attack, driving its claws into Ziggy's back as it reappeared with a mischievous grin. But, the smile would not last long, as Ziggy built up a small fire in her mouth. Turning around with a short hop, the enraged Ziggy began to spin the flames around herself before smashing into Slashe, her Flame Wheel critically wounding Slashe as his light body was thrown into the gates at the top of the dig site before tumbling back down in the loose dirt all the way to the bottom of the battle site.

Slashe played it cool this round with lots of devious stunts, costing Ziggy two actions this round with its trickery. But in the end, Ziggy was able to channel this anger into the mother of all Flame Wheels when it counted. Will Slashe be able to keep up under Ziggy's intimidation, and will Ziggy be able to hold its own against Slashe's ludicrous speed stat? Stay tuned.

    Calculations:
    Show Hide
Slashe Fake Out 4+((3-2)*1.5)+((-1-0)*1.5)= 4 Damage 4 Energy
    Ziggy Flame Wheel Flinched
    Slashe Taunt 10 Energy
    Ziggy Will-o-Wisp Taunted
    Slashe Faint Attack 6+3+((3-2)*1.5)+((-1-0)*1.5) = 8 Damage 3 Energy
Ziggy Flame Wheel (6+3+3+((4-2)*1.5))*1.5 = 23 Damage 3 Energy (Critical)

Alright, Slashe. Good job getting through that first round, we've got Ziggy where we want her. Now, obviously, that Intimidate is going to hurt us in the long run, so we need to even out that gap; start things off with Screech, twice, in fact. When it's shaken enough, go for another Faint Attack.

If she uses a Fighting-type move, substitute your action for Double Team, with four clones.

I came up with a few different ideas on how to ruin your turn. Except every one of them was ruined by the fact that I'm taunted. So, here's a thrown-together plan; start with a Reversal. It won't have a lot of power behind it, but it's still 4x effective, and it won't lower your defenses. Then use Flamethrower. By this point, the clones should hopefully be gone, so finish up with a Flame Wheel for as much hurt as possible.

Slashe stands up after his bumpy trip down the landscape and brushes himself off, checking for any grievous wounds. While battered, he seems ready to go! With another flashing movement Slashe barrels off towards Ziggy, who seems to be readying a Reversal, by the way she's crouching. Suddenly, Slashe's eyes gleam for an instant with a sinister flash, and the tricky little creature makes four copies of itself with Double Team, all the while rushing toward Ziggy in a dizzying and ever-changing formation. Ziggy darts forward to crush Slashe, but is only able to knick a clone, much to her chagrin. Slashe and the remaining clones race past Ziggy, kicking up a little dust as they pass.

With the loss of but a copy of himself, Slashe and his band of mischief turn on a dime and begin charging Ziggy once again! In a split second, Ziggy is surrounded on four sides by the sharp-clawed and smugly grinning figures of Slashe and his makeshift posse. The four begin Screeching in a cacophony that can only be compared to nails on a chalkboard (perhaps, Slashe claws on a chalkboard?), deafening the poor puppy and causing her to reel from the impact, dropping her concentration on defending herself. In return, flames lick the sides of Ziggy's mouth, before leaping forth in a stream towards the Slashe directly in front of her. Not even speed could save the clone...wait, it appears Slashe made a calculated mistake and decided to be the poor sap standing in front of the pooch's Flamethrower. Slashe tumbles back as his clones release Ziggy from the confines of their trap. Silly Slashe! Next time be the one BEHIND the dog shooting fire from its mouth...!

When the flames clear away from where Slashe was barbecued, nothing but a scorched outline of the unfortunate ice weasel is left burnt onto the ground. Could it be that Slashe would be joining the denizens of the Pokemon Tower? No, of course not! This is a kids show, no death allowed! Naturally, the cunning prankster fought through the searing pain of the blast and blended with the shadows for another Faint Attack! Claws appear behind the rather confused Ziggy and once again bury themselves in her back, causing a shrill yelp to escape her mouth. Furious, Ziggy turned and used the newfound close proximity to deliver a second massively damaging Flame Wheel right into Slashe, skipping him like a stone across the botched mine.

Even with tricks, Slashe is clearly the underdog in this fight, with the burden of Intimidate slashing *rimshot* his ability to do any damage. Meanwhile, Ziggy's confident barrage of Fire-based attacks through all the illusions and non-damaging punishments delivered by Slashe has proven incredibly effective, decimating Slashe's health while keeping her own in tact. Will Slashe be able to turn this around, or will XVI need Ouroboros to come in to clean up the mess?

Okay, Ziggy, we hold the advantage, let's keep it that way! Start off with our ol' reliable, Flame Wheel. Then I want you to try a Will-O-Wisp, let's see if we can't build up the damage. Then, I want you to try another Flame Wheel. It's our strongest attack per energy usage.

What a case of deja vu...honestly, there's not much we can do to dodge those attacks without running ourselves dry. But by Arceus, we'll try, again and again and again. Start off with Double Team, same number of clones, all that. Then, suppress its burning abilities with another Taunt. Keep it on its toes with a final Faint Attack, for all your troubles.

Feeling naked without his band of ninja ice weasels to back him up, the run down Slashe, once again makes an army of smirking Double Team clones! Not wanting to give the sneaky little creatures a chance to form up, however, Ziggy, wrapping herself in flames, begins charging toward the pack of Slashes without a moment of hesitation. The resulting Flame Wheel struck the huddle like a bowling ball, but alas the speed of Slashe left the result of the attack looking much more like a 7-10 split than a strike. The Slashe that Ziggy so zealously hit vanished in a puff, as the remaining party scattered around the pit.

...and, reflecting much about Slashe's character, the group began an epic class Taunt from all around the site, from which there was no escape. Ziggy's level of annoyance with her little menace of an opponent reached critical mass, and her focus, just as soon as she had begun to regain it, was gone again, the remnant blue flames of a would-be Will-o-Wisp fizzled out inside her mouth.

The jeering stopped all to suddenly, and a hush fell over the warzone. Slashe, as well as all his cohorts, were gone, meaning only one thing: another Faint Attack was inbound. Ziggy braced herself this time, but even so the sheer number of claws that buried themselves into her back as each clone and Slashe appeared from the shadows to attack was too much for readiness to play a factor...or was it? All of that defending seems to have been a set up, as Ziggy suddenly whirled around, flames engulfing her as the last copy of Slashe appeared from the darkness! Channeling her deep hatred for Slashe's previous antics, Ziggy's next Flame Wheel had a considerable amount of extra oomph to it, and as it she drives herself into the body of Slashe, she gives what can only be described as a grin. She had struck the correct Slashe once again, and with the clones beginning to lose their tangibility, she turned up the heat on her vicious tackle and left the already gasping Slashe with a nasty burn! Truly, Slashe is almost down and out after this kind of a beating, right? No! Still barely able to stand and trying desperately trying to reduce the searing pain for the burn, Slashe appears ready to give himself to one last round!

Slashe is exhausted and battered, while Ziggy appears to be fighting fit, though clearly INCREDIBLY annoyed. Does XVI have something up his sleeve for Slashe's final moments?

    Calculations:
    Show Hide
Slashe Double Team (4 Clones) 16 Energy
Ziggy Flame Wheel HIT CLONE 3 Energy
    Slashe Taunt 10 Energy
    Ziggy Will-o-Wisp Taunted
    Slashe Faint Attack 6+3+((3-2)*1.5)+((-1-(-2)*1.5) = 12 Damage 3 Energy
Ziggy Flame Wheel (6+3+((4-2)*1.5))*1.5 = 18 Damage 3 Energy BURN

XVI has first actions this coming round!

A single Flame Wheel aughta do the trick. I guess use it til Slashe faints.

Slashe is the first to move, with a quick Faint Attack, which is weakened by its burn. Ziggy responds with a strong Flame Wheel, which overwhelms Slashe and KOes it!

Ziggy has gained a KO counter!

Okay, Ziggy, this is gonna be tough. Start off with a Will-O-Wisp, and let loose with a Close Combat attack. You should be low on health at this point, so use Reversal.

    Will-O-Wisp > Close Combat > Reversal

Wow, this is incredibly surprising. Ouroboros is actually faster than Ziggy! Alright, then, let's get this show on the road, and drive that puppy into the ground! Start off with Dig. Go straight into the ground to dodge Will-o-wisp, then come out and attack for your second action. You should be able to withstand Reversal if you don't hit it for any more damage, so use Harden for your third action to brace yourself for the impact.

Ouroboros is amazingly faster than Ziggy, and evasively Digs into the ground! Ziggy attempts to use Will-O-Wisp on the hole, but a vague memory of its Taunt stops the flame forming in its mouth! It finally manages to shake it off however.

The next turn, Ouroboros attacks with a dig! Ziggy responds with a Close Combat! Finally, Ouroboros uses Harden to endure the incoming Reversal from Ziggy!

Looks like I'm up first this time!

Let's hit the ground...slithering with this round, Ouroboros. Start off with an Earthquake. I mean, they weren't using the quarry anyways, right? No harm, no foul, I guess. After everything is properly shaken up, pound her face in with Rock Tomb. Finish things off with Rock Throw. Hopefully, by then, Ziggy will be crushed into dust.

I completely forgot I was Taunted. Oops. Regardless, I will burn you good sir. Ziggy, use Will-O-Wisp until its burned. Then, Reversal until you faint.

Ouroboros pushes forward quickly, with an Earthquake, rocking the entire quarry, and causing several distinctly worrying sounds. ZIgg somehow holds on, and attempts to burn its oppoennt with a Will-O-Wisp, only to miss! Ouroboros takes advantage of the gift of the hax gods with a Rock Tomb, and KOes Ziggy!

Ouroboros has gained a KO counter!

Except I'd send out Swifty, my Mienfoo...

If I am using Liberty, use Tail Glow > Earth Power > Ice Beam

If I can use Swifty, use Fake Out > Brick Break > Low Kick

Alright, we're going to need to watch out for its attacks, now that it has STAB along with a type advantage. What we need to really watch out for is that Low Kick, so listen good, Ouroboros! Since we're going to flinch, use Harden or something for your futile first action. Next, resist or not, hit it with Rock Tomb. This will allow us to get the Speed leverage we need to regain the advantage. For your third action, Dig evasively to avoid that Low Kick.

Looking for free damage, Swft leads off with a Fake Out to disrupt Ouroboros' Harden, which amazingly does o damage! The next turn, Swifty uses Brick Break to continue its offense, and Ouroboros uses Rock Tomb, lowering Swifty's speed! Finally, Ouroboros evasively digs into the ground, and dodges Swifty's Low Kick!

Okay, we've got it on the ropes. Start off this round with your Dig attack, hitting Swifty from below. Then, shake things up with another Earthquake. Keep your guard up, too; finish this round with another Harden.
