SiC(K) Round 2! zarator vs. tavok! (reffed by Flamestrike)

Hello there ladies and gentleman, and welcome to the ASB Arena for one of the second round matches of the Sharing is Caring (Kinda) Tournament! Friendly neighbourhood Flamestrike here bringing you all the action live from the ASB Arena, where the capacity crowd is already revved up to a fever pitch in excitement for the upcoming match! Before we begin though, a quick reminder of the rules for this round! They're slightly different so pay attention!
Rules said:
Bring 4, Pick 2 Singles. You PM 4 pokemons to the ref, but the battle will be 2vs2 singles. You will choose your mons as the battle develop.
ASB Arena
Strict 3-day Disqualification.
You will get a single warning per round. After that, you go over DQ and you're done. Referees please tag the combatants when you have finished your reffing. Players, if you know you're going to be away you better post a Leave of Absence BEFORE you leave, or give a very good reason in case of an emergency.
Strict 4-day Disqualification for Refs. Same rules as above (one warning and then BAM). Also, you can be sure as hell that I will jump in to subref anyone if necessary.
3 Substitutions.
Turn Order: Coin Flip
2 Recovery/5 Chills per pokemon
All Abilities
All Items
Switch=OK
Mega Clause: 1
PHAZING RULE: If a pokemon is sent back to the pokeball by a phazing move, the trainer (of the pokemon sent back obv.) chooses who will be the replacement
A few minor changes here, but one major one; with Mega Evolution now allowed, how will this affect the team choices? We won't have to wait long to find out, because here comes the first Trainer! One of ASB's longest-tenured veterans, he's well-known as a top battler, and while he was cursed with a streak of Round 1 exits, the fact that he's here now shows that he's past that and ready to make a run to the finals! Introducing first, the Ghost Gym Leader, zarator!

Eschewing his normal predilection towards Ghost types, zarator has brought a well-balanced team here! Two of the strongest non-Mega Pokemon in Colossoil and Togekiss, one of ASB's more underrated Pokemon in Goodra, and for a Mega he's brought Height the Venusaur, and with 100/5/5 bulk after Mega Evolving and an ability that negates two of his most common weaknesses, Height is going to be one tough cookie to take down! Will zarator's opponent be up to the challenge? Well, we'll find out, as here he comes! A somewhat newer Trainer looking to prove himself against ASB's elite, I've heard some serious talk that this guy has upset written all over him! Will he live up to the hype? Let's find out! Here he is, tavok!

In a rather hilarious case of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," tavok has brought zarator's own Sableye, as well as Dragonite and Snorlax, for a rather strong trio of non-Mega Pokemon! His Mega choice is an interesting one; Kuchiito the Mawile has an amazing typing and gets a sky-high Attack stat upon Mega Evolution, and with Sheer Force thrown on top of that it'll certainly be tough for zarator to deal with! Now then, with the teams revealed and the trainers ready to battle, there's only one thing left to do; decide who sends out first! I have my trusty loonie here with me; heads, zarator sends out first, tails tavok sends out first! Here it goes...

-> RNG roll for coin flip (1-5000=heads, 5001-10000=tails) -> 9531 (tails)

...tails! That means tavok will send out first! The zarator will send out and order, tavok will order, and then I'll bring you all the action as it happens! Settle in folks; this one's gonna be good!

1) tavok sends out Pokemon and equips item
2) zarator sends out Pokemon, equips item, and orders
3) tavok orders
4) I ref
5) tavok orders
6) zarator orders
7) I ref
8) 5-7 repeat with the order of 5 and 6 switching each round (assuming a switch phase doesn't change the order)
tavok, you're up!

Uff, this is going to be hard. Here's to a great game Zarator!

Kuchiito @ Mawilite.
Sheer Force ON.
Trigger Intimidate (in case it doesn't activate itself, I'm paranoic).

Looks like I'll have to call out the big guns already!

Height @ Expert Belt
[Mega Evolve] Reflect - Earthquake - Energy Ball

If Mawile uses Brick Break (not as part of a combo), replace your respective action with Dig and push your actions back.
If Mawile uses Torment, replace your respective action with Dig and push your actions back.
If Mawile uses Snatch, replace your respective action with Earthquake and push your actions back.

And here we go! tavok is sending out the first Pokemon; which of his four will he choose? Oh, it looks like it's going to be Kuchiito the Mawile! He's got his trusty Mawilite in hand, ready to take full advantage of Megas being allowed! Will zarator fight fire with fire, or will he opt for one of his non-Mega Pokemon? Oh, it looks like he's going with the big guns! It's Height the Venusaur! And it's got... Wait, hang on, it doesn't have a Mega Stone! It has an Expert Belt instead! One has to wonder if this is meant to be a strategic move by zarator, or if he forgot that you can't Mega Evolve without equipping a Mega Stone! Meanwhile, Kuchiito activates Intimidate, and Height's Attack is dropped by one stage as a result! Interestingly enough, not only can Height not Mega Evolve, but tavok seems to be choosing not to Mega Evolve Kuchiito! Definitely a bizarre start to this match!

Even without Mega Evolving, Height is still the faster of the two Pokemon, and starts us off! He quickly assembles a psychic barrier in front of himself to blunt physical blows; it's a Reflect ladies and gents! Physical attacks aimed at zarator's team will be weakened for six actions! Not a bad way to start! Not to be outdone, Kuchiito prepares his own defenses, using Magnet Rise! Kuchiito will be floating above the ground for six actions! When you only have two weaknesses and one of them is Ground, that's not a half bad move! So far no offense, as the Pokemon feel each other out, but I suspect the attacks will start flying soon!

Sure enough, Height goes on the offensive, shaking the ground brutally! It's an Earthquake! But the attack missed as Kuchiito calmly floated above it thanks to his Magnet Rise! However, it seems like tavok doesn't like this matchup a whole lot, as he calls for Kuchiito to use Baton Pass! Looks like the Mawile will be switching out at the end of the round! Interesting choice for tavok here! Will it pay off?

Having failed to damage Kuchiito last round doesn't stop Height from trying again, but this time he goes for an Energy Ball instead! It's a direct hit, but it's not very effective, and so Kuchiito shrugs it off! What will he respond with? It's a... Sweet Scent? Another interesting choice by tavok, as the cloying smell drops Height's evasion by two stages! And then Baton Pass triggers and Kuchiito heads back to his Pokeball, his work done for now! However, he'll be giving his Magnet Rise to whoever comes in to replace him, and with Height at -1 Attack, -2 Evasion, and unable to Mega Evolve, it looks like a prime opportunity for tavok to do some damage! At the same time though, Height still has that Reflect, and tavok is locking himself into his second and final Pokemon incredibly early in the match! Could this backfire on tavok? Will zarator overcome the lack of a Mega Evolution? We'll find out!

Switching out via Baton Pass
Kuchiito activated Intimidate -> 5 energy, Height's Attack dropped by 1 stage

Action 1:
Height used Reflect -> 10 energy, the power of physical attacks made against zarator's team will be reduced for 6 actions
Kuchiito used Magnet Rise -> 6 energy, Kuchiito levitating for 6 actions

Actions 2:
Height used Earthquake -> Missed, 7 energy
Kuchiito used Baton Pass -> 10 energy, Kuchiito will pass her bonuses to one of her teammates at the end of the round

Action 3:
Height used Energy Ball
-> RNG roll to crit (1-625 to crit) -> 5551 (no crit)
-> RNG roll to drop Special Defense (1-1000 to drop) -> 3962 (no drop)
(8[BAP] + 3[STAB] + 1.5[Stat Dif.]) / 1.5[NVE] = 8.333 damage, 5 energy
Kuchiito used Sweet Scent -> 4 energy, Height's evasion dropped by 2 stages

Height -> -22 energy
Kuchiito -> -8.333, rounded to 8 damage, -25 energy
tavok, you're up!

Oh, that was obviously planned: that way, Kuchiito looks cuter while he smacks his enemies!
*obvious lie*

Well, I guess we both kind of choked back there? Unless the expert belt was on porpuse and that would be weird.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, the switch.

- IF Venusaur is in the evasive stage of Dig when you would move, THEN Earthquake and push actions back.

I could have murdered that Venusaur with Mawile T.T

With Kuchiito having switched out with Baton Pass, who will tavok choose as his second Pokemon for the match? Here it comes... It's Behemoth the Dragonite! The massive Dragon lands on the arena floor with a thud and lets out a loud roar, Expert Belt in hand and ready to do some serious damage! How will zarator handle this?

Wanting nothing to do with the inevitable Hurricane spam incoming, Height does his best to give himself a chance to dodge by using Sunny Day! The sun shines brightly, and now Behemoth is going to have some serious aim issues! However, that Sweet Scent will help patch those up, so Behemoth goes ahead and fires off a Hurricane anyway! But oh my! The attack missed, even with the evasion drops! A lucky break for zarator here!

Not wanting to take that chance twice, it looks like Height is aiming to prevent any more Hurricanes rather than dodge them, as here comes a Sleep Powder! It connects! Behemoth has fallen asleep! Hard to say if it'll last long enough to let Height escape the round unscathed though! In the meantime though the Venusaur is safe, as Behemoth is fast asleep!

Having done about all he can to avoid taking a painful Hurricane, Height switches his focus to breaking Behemoth's Multiscale so that zarator can start doing actual damage to the Dragonite! And there's a solid choice to do it! A Leech Seed attaches itself to Behemoth and now Behemoth is seeded! However, Behemoth woke up! This could be bad for Height as Behemoth fires off another Hurricane! And this one connects! A powerful super effective blow! Mercifully Height isn't confused though, and at the end of the round, while Height has burned through quite a bit of energy, zarator has managed to keep the HP difference relatively small! Now can he begin a comeback, or will tavok start to run away with this one?

Flamestrike: Hurricane in the sun has 50% accuracy, so on action 2 it should have missed?

EDIT: Nvm misread, but still, make sure you take modified accuracy into account for future rolls.

Switching out Venusaur for Goodra @ Enigma Berry

EDIT2: True my bad

You had -2 Evasion, so even with sun up it had 83.33 Accuracy, hence why the first one missed and the second one hit, so yes, I did take modified Accuracy into account.

I really hoped 83.33% would be enough, even when I knew it would not.

Anyway... really? Goodra? I expected Togekiss... but wow those stats are sick .-.

Counterswitch Declined.

I'm really sorry, I am completely and utterly exhausted and can't bring myself to write a full flavour blurb, so you guys get a mini-blurb until tomorrow:

zarator decides he wants no part of this Hurricane spam, so he switches to his own Goodra, Mystra and starts firing off all kinds of powerful SE attacks at the Dragonite. Instead of firing back tavok decides that discretion is the better part of valour and spends the round minimizing the damage he takes, though he's unable to avoid the steady drain of the Leech Seed or a final Dragon Pulse to end the round. Has zarator finally managed to get some momentum or will tavok steal it right back?

Yes, switching back to Venusaur

Sleep Powder - Earthquake - Weather Ball
If Mawile uses a P/E move, replace your respective action with Chill and push your actions back.
If Mawile is awake when you would act, and Misty Terrain is not active, and you are not Taunted, and Mawile is not behind a Substitute, and there are no Double Team clones up, then replace your respective action with Sleep Powder.
If Mawile uses Sandstorm, replace your respective action with Reflect and push your actions back. Do not play this substitution more than once.

[MEGA EVOLVE] Knock Off - Ice Punch - Ice Fang
- IF you are asleep when you would move, THEN Sleep Talk (Taunt / Ice Punch / Ice Fang / Magnet Rise) and push actions back.
- IF Sleep Talk selects Taunt, THEN replace all future instances of Sleep Talk (Taunt / Ice Punch / Ice Fang / Magnet Rise) with Sleep Talk (Iron Head / Ice Punch / Ice Fang / Magnet Rise).
- IF Sleep Talk selects Magnet Rise, THEN replace all future instances of Sleep Talk (Taunt / Ice Punch / Ice Fang / Magnet Rise) with Sleep Talk (Taunt / Ice Punch / Ice Fang / Iron Head).

Moral of the story here: Mawilite really, REALLY shouldn't give 2 extra ranks of Attack, Mawile REALLY doesn't need them ~_~

Rain for 3 rounds

And here we go! Both trainers make switches; tavok returns to Kuchiito the Mawile while zarator counters with Height the Venusaur! How will this work out for the trainers? We'll find out! Kuchiito activates Intimidate, dropping Height's Attack, and then tavok corrects his earlier mistake and calls for a Mega Evolution! And Kuchiito obliges! Kuchiito has Mega Evolved into Mega Mawile! Can zarator withstand Kuchiito's incredible power or will tavok blast his way through to the next round?

Looks like zarator his hoping to avoid Kuchiito attacking as much as possible, and for good reason! Height is using Sleep Powder! And it works! Kuchiito is fast asleep! But how long will it last? Doesn't look like it'll matter, as Kuchiito is using Sleep Talk to get around it! What will he end up using? Oh, looks like a Taunt! Height is taunted, and that'll put a quick end to Height's sleeping shenanigans!

Now taunted, Height has no choice but to go on the offensive! And that's exactly what he does, firing off an Earthquake! It's super effective, but it seems like that inability to Mega Evolve is hurting zarator; even with a super effective hit that's not doing a whole lot! And to make matters worse, Kuchiito woke up! How will he retaliate? Oof! What a blow! It's an Knock Off, and not only does that do some solid damage with Kuchiito's massive Attack, but it also knocks away Height's Expert Belt!

Height continues to try and beat down Kuchiito, taking advantage of the rain to fire off a powerful Weather Ball! It's only a neutral hit, but it still does a decent chunk! However, Kuchiito is ready and able to strike back, and does so with a powerful Ice Punch! A powerful super effective attack, and Kuchiito is easily winning this damage race! Can zarator find a way to come back from this or will tavok steamroll the more experienced battler?

Oh, no problem, I had already noticed (remember that we talked about my sub?)

Ice Fang - Ice Punch - Ice Fang
- IF Venusaur is in the evasive stage of Dig when you would move AND you are not under the effects of Magnet Rise, THEN Magnet Rise the first instance and Chill all subsequent ones, pushing actions back.
- IF Damaging Ground type combo AND you are not under the effects of Magnet Rise, THEN Magnet Rise and push actions back..
- IF Weather Ball AND in a combo AND you have more than 17 EN, THEN Protect that action and Chill the next one, pushing actions back.

Rain for 2 rounds

Neither trainer decides to switch Pokemon, so here we go! Height, sensing danger, quickly digs underground, hoping to avoid an attack! But Kuchiito, realizing his target is no longer available, instead merely uses Magnet Rise! Now Kuchiito is levitating! That could be useful, especially with Height coming back up with a Dig! And unfortunately for zarator Height isn't quite large enough to reach Kuchiito, and so the attack misses! However, he at least avoided taking some massive damage!

He can't keep that up all day though, with his energy reserves rapidly dwindling, and so Height instead simply hits Kuchiito with a Weather Ball! It's a solid neutral hit, but it's nothing compared to what Kuchiito has in store for retailiation! Bam! It's an Ice Fang! It's super effective and Height is barely standing! He's still fighting, but it won't take much more than this to finish him off!

Hoping to avoid fainting, Height digs underground once again, and this time it's a timely dodge as Kuchiito fires off an Ice Punch! And luckily for Height, the attack misses as he's underground! However, Height's Dig once again fails to do damage as the attack misses, and now not only is Height an attack from being KOed, he's also almost out of energy! Will zarator find a way out of this predicament, or has tavok taken control of this match for good?
