[OVERVIEW]

Snorlax can be considered one of the most predictable Pokemon in the metagame, with almost every set being a CurseLax variant. Even with this disadvantage, Snorlax can still be utilized as a fantastic wincon as well as a wallbreaker that always moves last. With both an amazing HP and Special Defense stat as well as its lone weakness to Fighting, Snorlax can set up Curses on a large portion of special and physical attackers. Its main setup move, Curse, helps it boost its lackluster Defense, making it almost unbreakable after only a couple uses. Its main ability is Poison Heal, giving Snorlax excellent passive recovery as well as boosting Facade to a 140-Base Power STAB move. Poison Heal also gives it the ability to become an excellent status absorber after Toxic Orb activates. Although this Pokemon can be walled by a lot of common walls like Doublade and Skarmory, it's certainly one that is hard to pass up.

[SET]
name: Poison Heal CurseLax
move 1: Facade
move 2: Curse
move 3: Protect
move 4: Earthquake / Crunch
item: Toxic Orb
ability: Poison Heal
nature: Careful
evs: 108 HP / 168 Def / 232 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Snorlax's access to Curse allows it to set up for a sweep and makes it almost unbreakable. Facade is Snorlax's spammable and very powerful move, especially with Poison Heal, hitting almost anything extremely hard. Protect is utilized to activate Toxic Orb upon switching in as well as to recover off damage received the turn prior. As a coverage move, Snorlax can run either Earthquake or Crunch. Earthquake is used more often, as it hits Rock- and Steel-types very hard.

Set Details
========

Poison Heal gives Snorlax reliable recovery, restoring a solid 1/8 of its maximum health each turn. Being poisoned by Toxic Orb also lets it stand out as a physical attacker, not having to worry about other status ailments such as burn and paralysis, which would potentially cripple it. The given EVs and a Careful nature are used to maximize Snorlax's special bulk, making it very hard to break with those attacks. Investing the rest in Defense, in conjunction with Curse, helps it be physically bulky as well.

Usage Tips
========
Snorlax provides the user with an excellent win condition. Thanks to its impressive bulk and its access to Curse, Snorlax works best as a mid- and late-game sweeper. Snorlax can set up on the majority of special attackers, being almost unbreakable for them, especially considering its reliable recovery in Poison Heal. Although it may look good on paper, using Protect at every opportunity may not be the best choice, as the foe can take advantage of it and get a free turn to set up entry hazards or boost its stats. Toxic Orb should be activated as soon as possible, and Snorlax should not switch in on a potential Knock Off or Trick before it activates, as losing its main source of recovery can cripple it completely. Lastly, try to get rid of phazers or Pokemon that wall it early-game and could stop a potential sweep, such as Skarmory, Aegislash, and Doublade.

Team Options
========

Snorlax partners well with Fire-types as well as Magnet Pull users such as Heatran, Victini, and Rotom-W, as these can get rid of Steel-types or Pokemon that wall Snorlax such as Skarmory and Doublade. Flying- or Ghost-types such as Zapdos, Aegislash, and Doublade are also great teammates with Snorlax, as they keep Fighting-types such as Heracross and Lucario at bay. Snorlax also benefits from hazard setters such as Deoxys-S and Deoxys-D, as they help to wear down Pokemon that Snorlax has trouble with. Snorlax can fill a variety of roles within any playstyle, namely stall and balance, thanks to its impressive special bulk, as well as being a nice setup sweeper.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
Due to the effectiveness of the CurseLax set, Snorlax does not have many other sets that can compete with it. Whirlwind can be used over a coverage move or possibly Protect to phaze opposing setup Pokemon or deal chip damage with the help of entry hazards. A RegenVest set allows Snorlax to tank as many special attacks as possible and then fire off one of its great coverage moves. Snorlax can also run a more offensive EV spread, enabling it to beat Pokemon such as Suicune with ease.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Strong Fighting-types such as Tough Claws Heracross and Pangoro can OHKO Snorlax even through Curse at times.

**Phazers**: Pokemon such as Skarmory and some variants of Heatran can take a hit from Snorlax and phaze it, preventing it from setting up. However, phazers are only a temporary answer and will likely lose in a one-on-one situation.

**Doublade and Aegislash**: Variants of Doublade and Aegislash that carry Sacred Sword can ignore Snorlax's Defense boosts and fire off a strong super effective attack, although they are threatened by Crunch or Earthquake.

**Skill Swap or Worry Seed Users**: Normalize Gengar or Worry Seed Ferrothorn can make Snorlax's Toxic Orb work against itself and force Snorlax to switch out.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Defensive Unaware Pokemon such as Suicune and Clefable can ignore Snorlax's boosts and set up on their own or phaze it, preventing a potential sweep.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Snorlax from setting up and stalling for extra recovery with Protect. However, it is usually luck reliant and has to be used in a one-on-one situation.

I don't really like crunch or protect on snorlax. Crunch can just be replaced with adding pursuit support from mons like ttar and in team options, and Protect can be replaced with Whirlwind imo. Earthquake is such an important move on lax that it is pretty much required and protect is just kind of filler when there are better options that can be run. Pursuit can also be mentioned in moves cause if you're running dark STAB that's what it should be.

Also who the fuck is linda

I changed it around a bit. Let me know if that works out. Also Linda is a UU room meme when Fletchinder was discovered. When it SD's, LINDA IS INDA.

Shiba Please finish the skeleton or this will be reassigned. You have 24 hours. Thank you.
Yeah, sorry, have been working on applying for college and stuff like that so kind of forgot about this. I'll get it done by tonight!

Edit: This is ready for QC

Overview
  • No need to list Snorlax's actual base stats - those are available at the top in the dex entry. "Both an amazing HP stat and great special defense stat" should be good enough.
  • Normal as a defensive typing isn't really fantastic, though Snorlax does have the quirks to abuse it. Instead of saying it's fantastic, explain how the lone weakness to Fighting helps during set-up, and move up the point about it getting STAB on Facade here since that has more to do with the Normal-type than the movepool.
  • Since as a general rule we don't want to compare across metagames, remove the point about ResTalk and just say that Poison Heal gives it excellent passive recovery.
  • Mention that Snorlax's terrible base 30 speed means it will almost always be moving second.
Set
  • I don't really agree with Ranger Mike on Earthquake over Crunch - Earthquake means Snorlax is completely walled by Levitate Doublade, which is a rather common threat. Earthquake doesn't allow Snorlax to beat anything notable anyhow, given Facade's raw power allows Snorlax to break things like non-levitate Heatran regardless after using Curse. Slash Crunch over Earthquake.
  • Protect should not have any slashes following it, as it is too valuable to pass up on. Move Whirlwind to OO.
  • You accidentally put Thick Fat as the ability! :p
  • Mienshao is non-existant in AAA and standard LO Tough Claws Heracross does 98% minimum with Close Combat, so the UU spread no longer works here. 108/168/232+ is a more ideal spread for AAA, letting Snorlax live a specs Eruption from Heatran to weaken it in return in clutch situations in addition to making it very sturdy against special attacks in general, while investing the rest in physical bulk to make it as bulky as possible after Curse.
  • Combine the explanation for the nature with the explanation for the EVs, since they both lean towards the same explanation really.
  • In Usage Tips, mention that you should avoid switching Snorlax into Pokemon you suspect carry Knock Off or Trick before its Toxic Orb is activated, as without its Toxic Orb Snorlax is heavily crippled.
  • In Usage Tips, inform that reader that Protect should not be used at every available opportunity, as the opponent can exploit the free turns Protect provides.
  • Since many Steel-types carry Flash Fire, list Magnet Pull users such as Heatran and Rotom-W to eliminate Steel-types instead.
Strategy Comments
  • As noted above, add WW to OO.
  • List RegenVest Snorlax in OO.
  • In C&C, list strong Fighting-types such as Tough Claws Heracross and Tough Claws Pangoro as checks, being able to OHKO Snorlax even through Curse a large majority of the time.
Looks good!

Overview
  • Tends to be walled by some very common walls in AAA, namely Doublade and Skarmory.
  • Snorlax is extremely predictable; it is almost always curseLax.
  • Is an extremely good status absorber with poison heal.
Set 1
  • I still think Earthquake is better than Crunch, since most doublade are regen or flash fire anyways. Regen almost automatically wins vs Snorlax regardless of what you run due to SD + Sacred Sword. EQ helps with immediate damage against stuff like Heatran too whereas crunch only helps with Levitate Doublade. Your call on this.
  • Mention how Crunch also lowers the defenses of certain pokemon that it can't break at first.
  • Set Details: Note how Poison Heal lets it stand out as a physical attacker, since it doesn't have to worry about status.
  • I dunno if you can suggest alternative EV spreads, but a spread of 12 HP / 252+ Atk / 244 SpD allows Snorlax to beat Suicune and also gives it much more immediate power.(12 HP for PH Number)
Everything else
  • Worry Seed/Skill Swap users such as slowbro and ferrothorn can make Snorlax's Toxic Orb work against it.

Overview: No need to specifically mention that this is about AAA.

Moves: No need to mention its movepool, just talk about the moves on the set. I agree with aesf that Earthquake is just better than Crunch so slash it first (and mention that it hits Rock- and Steel-types because you don't actually have anything about it at the moment).

Set Details: Kinda vague lol but that might just be me.

Usage Tips: Mention that you should try to activate the Toxic Orb as fast as possible so Snorlax can switch into status, Scald, etc.

Team Options: Mention entry hazards to wear down the Pokemon that can take Snorlax on. Also mention Pokemon to take on Ghost-types, most importantly Doublade.

Other Options: First sentence is kinda weird, other Snorlax sets are still decent, just less common / effective. Mention that Whirlwind works well with entry hazards.

Checks and Counters: Mention that phazers are just temporary answers and will lose in a last Pokemon situation. Fighting-types should be listed first as they are the best checks. Mention that Doublade and especially Aegislash don't exactly enjoy Earthquake or Crunch and are thus not long term answers, although the former can have Levitate to dodge Earthquake. Mention Taunt users and make clear that a Taunt user is by no means a solid check to Snorlax, as it's completely luck reliant and has to be used everytime, not to mention that it has to a 1v1 situation.

Do this and it's 3/3.

[OVERVIEW]

Snorlax could can be considered one of the most predictable Pokemon in the meta-game (remove hyphen) with almost every set being a Curselax variant. Even with this disadvantage, (AC) Snorlax can still be utilized as a fantastic win condition as well as a wallbreaker that always moves second last. With both an amazing HP and Special Defense stat as well as its lone weakness to Fighting, this helps Snorlax can set-up (remove hyphen) Curses on a large portion of special attackers and physical attackers. It's main set up move, Curse, helps it boost its lackluster physical Defenses, making it almost unbreakable after only a couple uses. Its main ability is Poison Heal, giving Snorlax excellent passive recovery as well as enabling it to use boosting Facade, a very strong to a 140 BP Base Power STAB move. Poison Heal also gives it the ability to become an excellent status absorber, of course only after the Toxic Orb activates. Although this Pokemon can be walled by a lot of common walls like such as Doublade and Skarmory, it's certainly one that is hard to pass up.

Moves
========

Snorlax's has access to Curse allows it to setting it up for a sweep, (AC) and also makinges it almost unbreakable. Facade is Snorlax's spammable, (RC) and very powerful move, (AC) especially with Poison Heal, hitting anything extremely hard. Protect is utilized to activate the Toxic Orb upon switch-ins as well as recover off any damage received the turn prior. As a coverage move, Snorlax can either run Earthquake or Crunch. Earthquake is used more often as it hits Rock- and Steel-types very hard.

Set Details
========

The main part of this set, Poison Heal, gives Snorlax reliable recovery, a solid 1/8 health each turn. Being poisoned by its Toxic Orb also lets it stand out as a physical attacker, not having to worry about other statuses like a burn or paralysis, which could potentially cripple it. The EV's (remove apostrophe) and a Careful nature are meant to maximize Snorlax's over special bulk, making it very hard to break on that side. Investing the rest in physical bulk Defense, in conjunction with Curse, helps it be physically bulky as well. as bulky as possible on that side with Curse.

Usage Tips
========

Snorlax provides the user with an excellent win condition. With Thanks to its impressive bulk, its and access to Curse, and a reliable form of recovery in Poison Heal, Snorlax works best it should definitely be used as a mid- (add hyphen) to late-game sweeper. Snorlax can set up on the majority of special attackers, being almost unbreakable on that side alongside its reliable recovery in Poison Heal. (I changed this part, as it seemed a bit redundant with what you said in Overview and Set Details. The original version is fine though) Although it may look good on paper, using Protect at every opportunity may not be the best choice, as the opponent can take advantage of the protect it and get free hazards up or set-up (remove hyphen)with a boosting move. Toxic Orb should be activated as soon as possible, and Snorlax should not switch in on a potential Knock Off or Trick before it the Toxic Orb activates, as losing its main source of recovery can cripple it completely, that's why the Toxic Orb should be activated as soon as possible. Lastly, try to get rid of phazers or Pokemon that wall it early-game (add hyphen) that and could stop a potential sweep, like such as Skarmory, Aegislash, or Doublade.

Team Options
========

Snorlax partners well with Fire-types as well as Magnet Pull users such as Heatran, Victini, or Rotom-W, (AC) as these can get rid of Steel-types or Pokemon that wall it like such as Skarmory or Doublade. Flying- or Ghost-types like such as Zapdos, (AC) or Aegislash, (AC)/ and Doublade are also great teammates with Snorlax, as they keep Fighting-types like such as Heracross or Lucario at bay. Snorlax also benefits from hazard setters like such as Deoxys-Speed or Deoxys-Defense to wear down Pokemon that Snorlax has trouble with. As for the types of teams Snorlax can fit on, it can fill a variety of roles within any playstyle, namely stall and balance, with thanks to its impressive special bulk as well as being a nice set-up sweeper.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Due to the effectiveness of the Curselax set, Snorlax does not have very many other sets that can compete with it. Whirlwind could can be used over a coverage move or possibly Protect to phaze out opposing set-up Pokemon looking to get into a set-up war with Snorlax or to phaze out Pokemon into or deal chip damage thanks to entry hazards. A Regenerator Assault Vest set could be used, allowsing it Snorlax to tank as many special attacks as possible and then fire off one of its great coverage moves. Snorlax could can also run a more offensive EV spread, enabling it to beat Pokemon like such as Suicune with ease.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Strong Fighting-types like such as Tough Claws Heracross or Pangoro can OHKO Snorlax even through Curse at times.

**Phazers**: Pokemon like such as Skarmory and some variants of Heatran can take a hit from Snorlax and phaze it out, preventing it from setting up. But However, phazers are only a temporary answers and will likely lose in a one on one situation. (AP)

**Doublade/Aegislash**: Variants of Doublade and Aegislash that carry Sacred Sword can ignore Snorlax's Defense boosts and fire off a strong super effective attack, although they are threatened by Crunch or Earthquake.

**Skill Swap/Worry Seed Users**: The Normalize Gengar or Worry Seed Ferrothorn can make Snorlax's Toxic Orb work against itself and force Snorlax to switch out.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Unaware defensive Pokemons like such as Suicune or Clefable can ignore Snorlax's stat boosts and set up on its their own/ or phaze it out, preventing a potential sweep.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Snorlax from setting up its Curses and becoming more effective with its recovery. (?) Taunt is usually luck-reliant and has to be used in a one on one situation. (AP)

**Phazers**: Pokemon like such as Skarmory and some variants of Heatran can take a hit from Snorlax and phaze it out, preventing it from setting up. But However, phazers are only a temporary answers answer and will likely lose in a one-on-one situation. (AP)

**Doublade and Aegislash**: Variants of Doublade and Aegislash that carry Sacred Sword can ignore Snorlax's Defense boosts and fire off a strong super effective attack, although they are threatened by Crunch or Earthquake.

**Skill Swap or Worry Seed Users**: The Normalize Gengar or Worry Seed Ferrothorn can make Snorlax's Toxic Orb work against itself and force Snorlax to switch out.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Unaware defensive Defensive Unaware Pokemons like such as Suicune or Clefable can ignore Snorlax's stat boosts and set up on its their own/ or phaze it out, preventing a potential sweep.

**Taunt**: Taunt prevents Snorlax from setting up its Curses and becoming more effective with its recovery. (?) ("stall for extra recovery with Protect", probably) Taunt is usually luck reliant (remove hyphen) and has to be used in a one-on-one (add hyphens) situation. (AP)

OP, if you want me to make this into a cleaner, more unified, check, just lmk, but rn I have to finish another one before I go to bed haha.
Haund, you'll still need to familiarise yourself a bit better with our standards/some general grammar things, but overall this looked promising--looking forward to seeing more checks of yours

Hi, amcheck. Add Remove Comments

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

=============
