I'm personally quite excited for this match. FMD has the upper hand in terms of team match-up, with each of his Pokemon man-handling two of his opponent's Pokemon. Cyclohm will tank most of these physical Pokemon, Camerupt is a powerful Mega Pokemon that breaks walls, and Togekiss will surely bring hax. On the other hand, smashlloyd20 definitely has more experience and tricks up his sleeve, with Machamp and Pyroak probably serving as the vital ingredients of this match. We'll see what happens!

RNG = 4742 (FMD)

ASB Official Tourmanet #3 is just getting underway! Newcomer FMD is taking on veteran smashlloyd20 that is sure to be an exciting match. Camerupt and Excadrill take the scene, both are interesting Pokemon for various reasons. Mega Camerupt is the definition of a tank with some sick abilities and powerful STAB options. Excadrill is less popular, but Mold Breaker and great HP allow it to hold its own. While smashlloyd wins the damage race, FMD has hazards on the field. This could be a game-changer.

If Excadrill is in the evasive stage of Dig when you would act, use Earthquake.
If Excadrill uses Protect or a damaging Ground type combo, use Substitute (15) on the first instance and Focus Energy on the second, but not consecutively.

Hax is bound to happen in a match this important, and FMD put himself in that suboptimal spot of using a 90% accurate move. If you've ever read a tournament match, you know this isn't going to end well. With an unfortunate miss, Excadrill manages to defeat FMD's mega evolution with over half of its HP left. While Stealth Rock will hamper Pyroak, you've got to question its usefulness when two of smash's Pokemon resist them. Was it worth the lost in momentum, where FMD could have ORKO'd Excadrill? We'll see what kind of lemonade he makes out of these lemons.

Why do people still argue Cyclohm's viability? It has no tricks up its sleeve and consistently fails to win match-ups. smashlloyd exploits this completely, making an excellent round for himself with Excadrill avoiding a KO and being set to order second. In FMD's defense, Slack Off plays well into Cyclohm's bulky offensive playstyle that keeps it a contender for future rounds. Will he be able to snag the KO right here? Or will Excadrill continue to pester FMD's team?

smash decides to keep Excadrill alive, which will make this next round interesting. On one hand, fainting Excadrill will allow him to order second next round. But on the other, Cyclohm (despite being an awful Pokemon) does have some moderately usable defensive options, meaning it may be able to gain some momentum off of Excadrill. The more FMD can gain back at this point, the better. Let's see if his long-range forecast will hold up.

It's safe to say that this match has taken an interesting turn. FMD, while having a great team match-up, is struggling to do any significant damage to Excadrill. Even when ordering second, Cyclohm fails to score a KO against Excadrill, leading to its own demise. We'll have to see if FMD can come out on top, despite being an entire Pokemon down.

Registeel comes out ready to romp. While FMD does a good job of stalling the round, Togekiss just can't swing the momentum it will need to overcome Registeel. Now with ordering first, Togekiss could find itself within KO range if it isn't careful.
