Standing Committee Applications:

Expectations and Requirements:

In order to be a Standing Committee member, you must supply links to three battles you have been in and three matches you have reffed. Standing Committee Members are expected to post proposals and feedback in SotGs. Only apply if you have interest in making serious proposals or providing feedback on the game.

Standing Committee Selection Policy:

I base my selection criteria primarily on the effort displayed in posts and in reffing. Reffings are much more important. What I tend to look for isn't fancy displays but the flow of the match and descriptions. Bolding moves, crits, or special effects help, though good prose reigns supreme.

Provide reffing samples of your best work. I glance over them and look for consistency in description and effects, but I don't read every line. Recent battles are favored over older battles because they are more in line with ASB's current mechanics structure.

The following people were standing committee members for the last 2 SotG votes and cannot reapply:

Tortferngatr
Venser
smashlloyd20
GoldenKnight
Rising_Dusk
Athenodoros
Acklow

The following people were standing committee members in the SotG votes previous to this rotation, and will be considered, but with a lower priority than new members if they re-apply:

zarator
Fire Blast
Engineer Pikachu
danmantican
Alchemator
Its_A_Random
Limewire

There are 7 positions available for the standing committee members.

Trying not to be the odd man out again. Anyways, I'm the tenth registered player, a tutor ref, and a subway ref as far as experience goes. I have opinions on most issues affecting the game (good or bad thing), and generally view myself as well qualified for the job.

Favorite battles:
vs Destiny Warrior -if you look at my other two favorite battles, they were amazing matches hindered by broken mechanics. While it is firmly denied, Bide in this battle plays a very similar role to old burn and psychic in the other two. One mistake, and the match is done. One single action or attack can absolutely destroy your chances of a battle. Rant aside, my opponent played excellently and I almost pulled a recovery at the end.
vs Limewire -generally an amazing battle with an amazing ref and and opponent. Featured a more creative side of ASB, but its potential was hindered and the match won by the broken nature of old burn.
vs zarator -an ominous parallel to the first battle. This was my first battle, and a genuine show of creativity in ASB. While HAX and a tactic earily similar to Bide's role in the first match were used, along with old burn, it was an amazing show of wits and creativity, and easily my favorite match.

Favorite reffings:
Axaj vs Leethoof
Aquamarius vs Dogfish
Darkamber vs Danmantincan

Standing Committee Members (in order they applied):

iiMKUltra
deadfox081
Objection
TravelLog
Rediamond
IceBug
Gerard

Thank you to everyone who applied.

Notes for Applicants:

Always remember the more recent the matches the more applicability they have to the game as it is today. Bide is a recently addressed issue that's still ongoing as far as implementation, but "Old Burn" meaning the 0.5x has been out for a while.

Consistency is very important. Try to keep the same approach to each reffing situation. If you inherit a battle, try to copy the main ref's format when you continue the match.

Match Flow should be readily seen. As good as the calculations summary is, it's no substitute for a broader glance at the actions the Pokemon have ordered. Matches with good prose are more exciting to watch, and if it's difficult for people to follow because everything is in Hide tags, it won't look appealing to spectators. Remember that this is Anime Style Battling, and sometimes what would ordinarily qualify as "flavor" has an impact on the match, such as using a stronger sound move to drown out a weaker one. That doesn't work in-game, but can work here, and its more interesting if you have prose to go with it rather than shunting it into a summary.

So to reiterate:

Be Current
Be Consistent
Consider Match Flow
