Ask a Simple Question, Get a Simple Answer (CAP V. 3.0 READ THE OP!)

I was not sure where to put this, and I did not see a bug thread, nor did I want to create one and risk getting it closed, but there is a problem on Pokemon Showdown. The Pokemon Krilowatt mysteriously forgot how to use Surf, its most used move. Is there any chance to get this fixed, and where, if there is any place at all, should I report bugs such as this?

Edit: It has come to my attention that Arghonaut can no longer use his favourite move as well, Waterfall.

when new things regarding new gen mechanics, abilities, moves and such are settled on the PRC subforum (may take a month or so i think)

Anyone have any idea when the first gen 6 CAP will start?
As Gust said, we are currently discussing changes to the CaP Project in the PRC. We are trying to make this process as smooth/fast as possible so we can get to work on the first CaP of Gen 6. In the mean time you can always get involved with the creation of Cawmodore's prevolution as a little taster of what CaP is like.

So, I'm very interested in CAP, but don't really know where to start. I'd love to help! I can't really draw however, so that might limit me?

I would also like to get into CAP. I have a knack for creating abilities as well as decent base stat creations. How can we create something though?

Welcome to CAP!

So, i get this question asked a LOT when im on showdown so heres some basic stuff you should know before posting:

http://www.smogon.com/cap/mission_statement What IS CAP?
http://www.smogon.com/cap/pokemon/ Which pokemon were created and strategies (needing some updates)
http://www.smogon.com/cap/process/events/ How the process itself works
http://www.smogon.com/cap/leadership_team The team

You dont need to be a good artist to be a good CAP member, there are lots of prized members who arent artists. Keep in mind that the final objective of the project is to create unique and interesting pokemon in competitive senses, so anyone who deeply comprehends the metagame can help.

Past CAPs have used "custom" abilities but it has been decided by the Policy Review Comitee that no new abilities will be created.

Finnally, here are some places in which you can chat and get involved with the community:

http://client01.chat.mibbit.com/?channel=#cap&server=irc.synirc.net CAP IRC

EDIT: Here's a cool art gallery :D http://www.smogon.com/cap/gallery/

Read all those, but how can I actually get involved?

If you are wondering when the new project will start, it is "when new things regarding new gen mechanics, abilities, moves and such are settled on the PRC subforum (may take a month or so i think)" -- gust_r (scroll up a few inches)

For now take DHR-107's suggestion and get involved with our cawmodore pre-evo mini project as a little taster of what CaP is like.

I have a couple of questions regarding the CAP meta for gen VI. Though I'm not sure if theese are 'simple'.
I know the meta is not the Proyect's main focus and the current policy is to not update past CAPs. However Necturna is a bit tricky.
The first issue is that, in XY, Heart Scales can be used to relearn egg moves, so gen VI Necturna potentially has Smeargle's movepool, because it could relearn Sketch as many times as it wanted. This is in theory absolutely broken.
The second is sixth gen moves, disregarding multi sketch. Is it legit to use for example a Sticky Web Necturna? If the answer is yes then we have the best sticky webber, but we have inconsistencies with the policy (Necturna would then be "updated"). If the answer is no I feel the inconsistency is bigger.

For the first, as I understand it Necturna simply won't be allowed more than one Sketch move at a time, purely as a means of maintaining its concept; the fact that there isn't an in-game justification for such an arrangement is irrelevant, since as far as we are concerned at present, the CAPs are "locked in time" and Necturna perpetually retains the restrictions it possessed then, as a matter of principle. In this sense, Necturna can be subject to generational shifts (as you say, Sticky Web is one example, and I recall jas## was testing that very set on PS a while ago), but not actually subject to "updates".

In short, what we're doing at present is nothing more than pragmatism - we play with the CAPs in the CAP metagame because it's fun to play the CAP metagame, but too much effort to fix what would be continuity issues if applied elsewhere (e.g. Lightningrod Voodoom with its DP effect as opposed to BW, but the BW effect for everything else). Hence, Necturna has the XY version of Sketch, but we can ignore its repercussions in much the same way that in DP we ignored the fact that the presence of the CAPs would have affected certain egg move restrictions.

Hopefully, this should all become a bit clearer once we have got the CAP revisions PRC topic started.

I have a plan for a CAP project that still hasn't been made. I would like to request help from someone with past CAP experience to mentor me and/or explain why my idea should or should not be included in CAP discussions. I was told to ask here.

It's not entirely clear what you're asking, or even if this is a simple question at all. When you say you have a plan for a CAP project, does that mean you have a concept that you would like to submit for the next CAP cycle? If so, then just post it here and I'm sure people (myself included) would be more than happy to tell you if it's interesting or how it can be improved or whether it has a shot at winning the eventual vote. Either way, any of the CAP forum moderators or current CAP contributors would, I'm certain, be happy to walk you through whatever it is you need help with, if you send them a private message or post here.

Also, this might also help.

I was unclear what i was going for also. ive been working on a concept of a dragon glass cannon who also functions as a wall on dragon types with its ability. i played with the idea of adding the fairy type to it just to make him a unique typing.

Well, the CAP Project doesn't really deal with personal Pokemon creations - every aspect of the Pokemon created or discussed here has to be voted on by the community and subscribe to some meaningful role within the metagame (which is also voted upon). Your own concept wouldn't be legal since it specifies typing and ability as well as role. So, unless your concept were heavily revised, there's pretty much nil chance of it being a part of any CAP discussion. I'm sorry.

If you just wanted to have a Pokemon created for fun, then possibly you'd have more luck if you tried asking around on #cap on IRC.

its gonna stay the same,

if you read a few posts above you'd know

What is going to happen to Necturna now that egg moves can be relearned?
While egg moves can be relearned, Sketch can still only be learned once. If Necturna knows a move already via Sketch, then it still has yet to forget that egg move, and relearning it would prove redundant.

I'm all good with that. I was more or less using it as a starting point to throw some ideas around.

Where would be the best place to post a CAP concept in order to get feedback? I read this thread's OP and I don't think this would really be the best place... The CAP Kitchen doesn't mention CAP concepts in it's OP, but would that be the place to post? And just for clarification, when I say CAP concept, I mean that I tried to follow the submission guidelines I saw for the Cawmodore concept... no specific types bound to the concept, etc.

You could post it here, or you could post it in the kitchen. Technically the kitchen is for flavour, so here would probably be better.

Alternatively, you could try asking on #cap on IRC.
