alrighty, i talked to koko and he said so outdated must be revamped and also subpunch sucks so yeah there you go

[Overview]

While Azumarill might not look like much at first glance with its laughable offenses, with Huge Power in hand it is one of the most powerful Pokemon in UU. With bulk uncharacteristic of offensive powerhouses, Azumarill is not flimsy like a sheet of paper either, being able to take most hits. It's also an excellent revenge killer due to STAB priority in Aqua Jet, which has excellent neutral coverage. Walling Azumarill is a difficult feat due to its access to all the coverage it needs in Ice Punch and Double-Edge. The only thing that Azumarill really has going against it is its mediocre Speed, which is mitigated by Aqua Jet. Overall, Azumarill is a top choice for a Pokemon in UU and should be considered for any team.

[SET]
name: Choice Band
move 1: Aqua Jet
move 2: Waterfall
move 3: Double-Edge
move 4: Ice Punch
item: Choice Band
ability: Huge Power
nature: Adamant
evs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 84 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set has been a curse to all of Azumarill's opposition for two generations at this point, and it's surely not ready to stop yet. The premise behind this set is very simple: hit hard. To put its power into perspective, not one wall in UU without a Water typing not named Shaymin can hope to defend against Azumarill's tremendous assault. Additionally, out of all the bulky Water-types in UU, only Slowbro can actually counter Azumarill. Even offensive teams crumble in the face of Aqua Jet. Speaking of Aqua Jet, when Azumarill's high power and STAB are taken into account, it is one of the most powerful priority attacks in all of Pokemon, capable of OHKOing most offensive Pokemon that do not resist it, including Heracross, Darmanitan, Flygon, Zapdos, and Chandelure. The excellent neutral coverage it has is also arguably superior to that of all other priority moves.

If Aqua Jet were a pistol, then Waterfall would be a nuke. Very few moves in UU can match Azumarill's Waterfall's power level, and none without drawbacks. All but the bulkiest of resists are smashed into pieces by it. However, many bulky Water resists exist in UU, so coverage moves to hit them are needed. Double-Edge is the first of these, hitting bulky Water-types such as Slowbro, Milotic, Slowking, and Blastoise hard. In fact, it 2HKOes all but Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage. The other coverage move is Ice Punch, which hits Grass-types such as Roserade and Shaymin hard.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The given EVs allow Azumarill to outrun Porygon2, hit hard, and take a ton of punishment. A decent alternative is to transfer the HP EVs to Speed, which allows Azumarill to outrun Blastoise and Milotic, both of which are 2HKOed by Double-Edge. However, the loss in bulk is quite noticeable, and all Azumarill really avoids with those Speed EVs is being burned by Scald, so keeping the EVs in HP is usually best. While the given moves are generally the best choices, a few other moves are viable as well. Superpower can be used to hit Cobalion, Empoleon, Registeel, and Porygon2 hard. It also OHKOes defensive Snorlax and allows Azumarill to check +1 Curse variants. Toxic can be used to cripple bulky Water-types, but is really only for Slowbro because Double-Edge hits the rest hard enough. Return is a possible replacement for Double-Edge due to its lack of recoil, but the lower damage output means it won't even 2HKO its main targets.

The best way you can support Azumarill is to take out bulky Water resists. Bulky Water-types are the first obstacle to deal with; an offensive Grass-type, such as Shaymin or Roserade, or a Zapdos is recommended to defeat them. Roserade also has the option of setting up Toxic Spikes, which makes tanking hits from Azumarill all the more difficult. Since Roserade falls to Waterfall, Shaymin is the only Grass-type you need to worry about. A Fire-type, such as Darmanitan or Chandelure, is recommended to roast it. Entry hazards are required for Azumarill to break through some walls, so Pokemon such as Froslass, the aforementioned Roserade, and Cobalion make great partners. Wish support is also helpful to keep Azumarill in prime condition to take attacks, as it is worn down easily. However, Umbreon is essentially the only viable choice, and it is not that great of a Pokemon. As has been made quite obvious, Fire / Water / Grass cores are Azumarill's preferred home. Chandelure / Roserade / Azumarill is a stellar example. Azumarill can defeat two of Chandelure's biggest counters, Snorlax and Umbreon, while Chandelure breaks Shaymin. Roserade provides Spikes or potentially Toxic Spikes, counters Milotic, and soft checks Slowbro. Azumarill breaks Fire-types for Roserade. Arcanine / Shaymin / Azumarill is another core that has a bit more bulk. Essentially, if you want Fire-types gone, Azumarill is your man. Lastly, you might want to consider Snorlax as a partner because it counters Zapdos and other Electric-types.

[Other Options]

Azumarill has a few other halfway-decent options. The shining star among these is a Substitute + Focus Punch set. A Fighting-type attack with a high 150 Base Power as well as protection from revenge killers and status seems excellent on paper, but it doesn't provide much in the way of coverage and such a set is much weaker than the Choice Band variant. A Life Orb might seem like a decent item choice so Azumarill can switch moves, but it impairs Azumarill's beloved bulk. You could run Encore over a coverage move, but Azumarill is better off attacking its foes than playing around with them. Oh, just one more note, don't use any of Azumarill's other abilities. They disfigure its beautiful might and render it a useless piece of excrement. Seriously, don't do it, or you might just find the entirety of the ladder pointing and laughing at you, a gleeful smirk etched upon their faces as they effortlessly shrug off Azumarill's assaults.

[Checks and Counters]

Despite Azumarill's overwhelming power, it has some weaknesses that can be easily exploited. The first of these is that it lacks a way to break some bulky Water-types. Slowbro can cripple Azumarill with a burn and wear it down with Psyshock while having Regenerator to heal off any damage taken. Suicune pretty much perpetually walls Azumarill and can use it as setup fodder. Empoleon is 3HKOed by Waterfall and Double-Edge, but it can take any other attack bar the rare Superpower. However, it is not doing much in return outside of trying to burn Azumarill. Shaymin is another excellent way to counter Azumarill, as it takes pittance from even Waterfall and can sap Azumarill's health with Leech Seed or outright kill it. The only move it has to worry about is Ice Punch.

There are two more major Pokemon that Azumarill has trouble with—Zapdos and Cofagrigus. Offensive Zapdos is not KOed by Aqua Jet but falls to Waterfall; defensive variants can take a Waterfall but lack the firepower to OHKO Azumarill. On the other hand, Cofagrigus is basically the bane of Azumarill's existence. Mummy removes Huge Power, which leaves Azumarill useless, and Cofagrigus takes little from Aqua Jet and can comfortably tank a Waterfall. Cofagrigus can even carry Will-O-Wisp to render Azumarill fully incapable of hurting anything. It can also set up a free Trick Room, which can turn the tables on Azumarill and its team.

If for whatever reason your team lacks one of the above Pokemon, there is no need to despair. Thanks to Azumarill's abysmal Speed, it can be worn down easily by powerful attacks if it is locked into a move other than Aqua Jet. A few examples of these are Choice Band Flygon's Outrage, Choice Band Heracross's Megahorn, and Life Orb Mienshao's Hi Jump Kick. Beating Azumarill in all actuality is not very difficult, but be sure to have a reliable method regardless—otherwise you might just be its latest victim.

Cofagrigus is also a damn good counter to Azumarill too. Mummy nerfs Huge Power, immune to Superpower, and Aqua Jet does dick squat to the sarcophagus. Defensive variants also carry Will-O-Wisp, which hurts Azumarill even further.

Uhh we might need to put enough Speed to outrun Porygon2. Other QC members should weigh in.

Yeah, make the EV spread 168 Hp / 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 84 Spe, and give an AC mention to 252 Atk/4 SpD/252 Spe. Max Speed lets it outrun Milotic and Blastoise, at the cost of a lot of bulk. You do 2HKO Blastoise and Milo with Double Edge after SR, so it can be worth it.

Couple of things:

 • You need to specify which variant of Cofagrigus counters Azumarill. Standard Cofagrigus is a shaky counter at best since it takes (53.75 - 63.75%) from Waterfall switching in, (27.18 - 32.18%) on the second hit, and Cofagrigus can't really threaten it back so it flat out loses if it switches in. The bulky ghost variant fares much better, since it has increased bulk and access to WoW and Pain Split.
 • Roserade can only switch into Aqua Jet/Waterfall or Superpower, and offensive variants need to be wary of Waterfall since it do (73.56 - 86.97%).
- zapdos is a pain in the fucking ass, perhaps try stone edge heracross or something of the like
 • Replace this entire sentence with "Azumarill benefits from having Snorlax as a partner since it beats Zapdos and other Electric-types". If Zapdos (or any special attacker for that matter) is a pain in the ass, Snorlax is your go to guy. Snorlax even checks offensive Roserade, which is nice.
- generally good in fwg offensive; chandy and roserade are probably the best bets for the other two members of the core, doing lots of useful things for azu and vice versa
 • Can you specify? Azumarill is capable of countering Chandelure's checks (Snorlax / Umbreon) while Roserade provides Azumarill with entry hazards and can counter Milotic act as soft check to Slowbro. Feel free to mention that other FWG members work fine (EX: Azumarill / Shaymin / Arcanine, etc)

Empoleon is not much of a counter, since Waterfall deals out (35.48 - 41.93%) to defensive variants (basically a 3HKO outside of SR) and Empoleon can't do much in return (outside of LOL scald burns).

What does Double-Edge do that Return doesn't? Most pokes with Return and Double-Edge at least oo the other, if not a whole slash.

Double-Edge 2HKOes Milotic and Blastoise, while Return does not. Honestly you don't use Double-Edge/Return for much else, so it's worth it.

Oh and thanks PK.

Double Edge 2HKO's Milotic, Blastoise, and Slowking 100% of the time after SR, Return only has a ~50% to 2HKO Milotic and Slowking and cannot 2HKO Blastoise. (assuming 252/252+ EV Spreads)

You should mention in the analysis that Superpower OHKO's defensive Snorlax and lets Azumarill check +1 Curselax to some degree. Otherwise, I think this looks good.

[Overview]

While Azumarill might not look like much at first glance with its laughable offenses, take a further look and you will notice an unsurpassed ability that changes an insignificant Attack stat to a mammoth one worthy of legends. To further impress this point upon you, its Attack stat is in a similar league to that of Rayquaza and Groudon. Because of this, both on paper and in practice Azumarill takes its rightful place among the top Pokemon of UU. With bulk uncharacteristic of offensive powerhouses, Azumarill is not flimsy like a sheet of paper either, as it is able to take most hits thrown at it. Some of the attacks that Azumarill can tank demolish Pokemon with heavy defensive investment. I feel like that sentence isn't specific enough to contribute much. It's an excellent revenge killer due to STAB priority in Aqua Jet, which is unique among priority moves in that it has wide neutral coverage as opposed to that of the more common Fighting-type priority. Walling Azumarill is a difficult feat due to its access to all the coverage it needs with Ice Punch and Superpower, the latter of which allows Azumarill to overturn the classic stereotype of Water-types being unable to break Steel-types. The only thing that Azumarill really has going against it is its mediocre Speed, which is mitigated by Aqua Jet. Overall, Azumarill is a top choice for a Pokemon in UU and should be considered for any team.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set has been a curse to all of Azumarill's opposition for two generations at this point, and it's surely not ready to stop yet. The premise behind this set is very simple: hit hard. Azumarill is one of the hardest hitters in UU just by virtue of its excellent ability, and when you add Choice Band to the equation, very little can stand its way. To put its power in perspective, not one wall in UU without a Water typing that is not named Shaymin can hope to defend against Azumarill's tremendous assault. Out of all the bulky Water-types in UU, only Slowbro can actually counter Azumarill. Azumarill even performs well against offensive teams due to the sheer revenge killing power of Aqua Jet.

The first moveslot is occupied by Aqua Jet, which is one of the most powerful priority attacks in the Pokemon world when you take STAB into account. With Aqua Jet, Azumarill can revenge kill basically all offensive Pokemon that are hit for neutral or super effective damage by it, Consider "hit neutrally or super effectively" for flow. such as Heracross, Darmanitan, Flygon, and Zapdos, and unlike the common Fighting-type priority hits Chandelure hard. That is why Aqua Jet is such a great priority move— Error error! "—" it has arguably the best neutral coverage not taking into account the poorly distributed ExtremeSpeed. The Pokemon that do resist Aqua Jet can be smacked by the appropriate coverage move.

If Aqua Jet were to be compared to a starter pistol, Obscure reference. then Waterfall would be the nuke. Take the frightening revenge killing power of Aqua Jet, switch its purpose to smashing apart defensive teams, and the result is Waterfall. There is not one move in UU other than Darmanitan's Flare Blitz and Victini's V-create that reaches Waterfall's power level, especially with such reliability. All but the bulkiest of resists are smashed into pieces by it. Of course, while the coverage of Water-type attacks is comparatively wide, there are still a few Pokemon that can stand in Azumarill's way due to a Water resistance and high Defense. Double-Edge is the first of these coverage moves, providing much-needed neutral coverage on bulky Water-types such as Slowbro, Milotic, Slowking, and Blastoise. In fact, it 2HKOes the latter three after Stealth Rock damage. Its excellent neutral coverage in general makes it the move of choice when you're not quite sure what to expect from your opponent; however it should not be thrown around in place of Waterfall unless your opponent still has a bulky Pokemon with a Water resistance alive due to its debilitating recoil. Last up is Ice Punch, which hits Grass-types, such as Roserade and Shaymin, super effectively, and is four times super effective on Flygon and Gligar. However, do note that the latter two are smashed to pieces by Waterfall anyway.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The EVs might seem complex but in actuality are not. 84 Speed is enough to outrun Porygon2 so that you can finish weakened ones off without having to worry about being hit by Thunderbolt. From there, maximum EVs are invested in Attack with an Adamant nature supplementing for the highest possible damage output, while the remaining EVs are dumped into HP to take advantage of Azumarill's solid defenses except 4. These 4 EVs are placed in Special Defense so that Azumarill takes less damage from Stealth Rock. Kinda funny wording, the higher Special Defense doesn't directly reduce Stealth Rock damage. Alternatively, the HP EVs can be transferred to Speed, which allows Azumarill to outrun Blastoise and Milotic, both of who are 2HKOed by Double-Edge. However, the loss in bulk is quite noticeable and all you really avoid with those Speed EVs is being burned by Scald, so unless you are extremely worried about that you should keep the EVs in bulk.

While the given moves are undoubtedly the best choices generally, "undoubtedly...generally" seems contradictory. a few other moves are viable as well. Superpower can be used to hit Cobalion, Empoleon, Registeel, and Porygon2 super effectively. It also OHKOes even defensive Snorlax and allows Azumarill to check +1 Curse variants. Toxic can be used to cripple bulky Water-types, but in all honesty its only target would be Slowbro, as Double-Edge does more than enough to the other common ones. Return is a possible replacement for Double-Edge for its lack of recoil, but the lesser damage makes it require further entry hazard support than just Stealth Rock to reliably 2HKO Milotic and Slowking, and it never 2HKOes Blastoise.

The best way you can support Azumarill is to take out bulky Water resists, as then it can spam Waterfall and Aqua Jet without worry. Even though Azumarill can hit them, predicting is and should not be in its owner's manual. Confusing wording about prediction. Bulky Water-types are the first obstacle on this front. An offensive Grass-type, such as Shaymin or Roserade carrying a Life Orb, or a Zapdos is recommended to defeat them. Roserade also has the option of setting up Toxic Spikes, which makes tanking hits from Azumarill all the more difficult. Shaymin is the only Grass-type you need to worry about, as Roserade is easily 2HKOed by Waterfall due to its mediocre Defense stat. A Fire-type, such as Darmanitan or Chandelure, is recommended to roast it. Entry hazards are required for Azumarill to break past some walls, so Pokemon such as Cobalion, Froslass, the aforementioned Roserade, and Cobalion make great partners. Wish support is also helpful to keep Azumarill in prime condition to take attacks, as its mediocre Speed means that it will be worn down constantly by numerous different attacks throughout the course of the battle. However, Umbreon is essentially the only viable choice for this type of support, and Umbreon is not the most desirable Pokemon to be using.

As has been made quite obvious, Fire-Water-Grass cores are Azumarill's preferred home. Chandelure / Roserade / Azumarill is a stellar example. Azumarill can defeat two of Chandelure's biggest counters, Snorlax and Umbreon, while Chandelure breaks Steel-types and Shaymin. Earlier you said Azumarill is a unique Water-type in that it beats most Steel-types. Roserade provides Spikes or potentially Toxic Spikes, counter Milotic, and soft checks Slowbro. Azumarill breaks Fire-types for Roserade. Arcanine / Shaymin / Azumarill is another core that has a bit more bulk. Pretty much, if you want Fire-types gone and something that dismantles your opponent, Azumarill is a great choice. Since Azumarill is the supreme condemner of all Fire-types, Roserade and Cobalion work well in tandem with Azumarill. There is one more partner to consider—Snorlax—because Error error! it counters Zapdos and other Electric-types who threaten Azumarill.

[Other Options]

Azumarill has a few other halfway-decent options. The shining star among these options is a Substitute + Focus Punch set. A Fighting-type attack with a high 150 Base Power as well as protection from revenge killers and status is simply extravagant. However, Focus Punch doesn't really give much in the way of coverage and such a set is much weaker due to its inherent lack of a Choice Band. The loss of revenge killing potential and overall potency as a threat makes it an inferior overall choice when compared to the set above. A Life Orb might seem to be a decent alternative for an item to give Azumarill the ability to hit hard and switch moves, but it impregnates upon Azumarill's beloved bulk, which would have dire consequences. "Impregnate" is a strange word choice. You could run Encore over a coverage move, but Azumarill is better off attacking its foes than playing around with them. Oh, just another note, don't use any of Azumarill's other abilities. They disfigure its beautiful might and render it a useless piece of excrement. Seriously, don't do it, or you might just find the entirety of the ladder pointing and laughing at you, a gleeful smirk etched upon their faces at their lack of any need to worry about Azumarill.

[Checks and Counters]

Despite its overwhelming power, Azumarill has some weaknesses that can be easily exploited. The first of these is that it lacks a way to break bulky Water-types barring 2 Double-Edges with entry hazard support and no Scald burn. Regardless of the circumstances, Slowbro is a hard counter to Azumarill, having the ability to burn it with Scald and wear it down with Psyshock while healing up when needed with Slack Off. Suicune is a pain in the rear as well because of its ability to perpetually wall Azumarill and set up multiple Calm Minds directly in front of its innocent blue face. Empoleon is 3HKOed by Waterfall, but otherwise it is completely ignorant of any move that Azumarill might care to throw at it. Superpower? However, Empoleon is not doing much in return outside of a burn from Scald. Milotic, Blastoise, and Slowking function as solid counters in a similar fashion.

Grass-types are another obstacle for Azumarill, as predicting their switch-in is not something that Azumarill enjoys worrying about. Shaymin performs best, as it takes pittance from even Waterfall, can recover its health with Leech Seed, and can retaliate with a sound OHKO by using its signature STAB super effective Seed Flare. Roserade's execution is slightly under par, as its insubstantial Defense stat makes it unable to switch into any move other than Aqua Jet or the occasional Superpower, but its STAB Leaf Storm easily KOes.

There are two more major Pokemon that Azumarill has trouble with—Zapdos Error error! and Cofagrigus. Offensive Zapdos is not KOed by Aqua Jet and can KO in return with Thunderbolt. Defensive variants do a bit better at actually taking hits but lack the firepower to OHKO Azumarill. On the other hand, Cofagrigus gives Azumarill nightmares of mummification. Whenever Azumarill hits Cofagrigus, Mummy activates, which of course removes Huge Power eternally and replaces it with the Mummy. "Eternally" isn't entirely true though. This is a major problem from Azumarill, as it needs the doubling in Attack provided by Huge Power to succeed. Cofagrigus also takes pittance from Aqua Jet and can comfortably take a Waterfall. Defensive variants do best, as they carry Will-O-Wisp to burn and thus cripple Azumarill completely. Offensive Trick Room variants are 2HKOed by Waterfall, but they have the ability to OHKO Azumarill after a Nasty Plot boost and turn the tables on Azumarill's teammates by outspeeding them under Trick Room.

If for whatever reason your team does not contain one of the above Pokemon, there is little need to despair. Fortunately for you, Azumarill has an absolutely abysmal Speed stat that is easy to take advantage of. Bear in mind Azumarill's excellent bulk—you Error error! are not piecing it apart like mincemeat. Rather, you should be attempting to break Azumarill with powerful attacks. A few examples of these are Choice Band Flygon's Outrage, Choice Band Heracross's Megahorn, and Life Orb Mienshao's Hi Jump Kick. These sorts of attacks do irreparable damage to Azumarill. Beating Azumarill in all actuality is not very difficult, but be sure to have a reliable method regardless—otherwise Error error! you might just be Azumarill's latest victim.

Yeah I'm not sure if you just can't put in emdashes yet or what but I noted them all anyway. But aside from optional changes I only found 1 error so good job

woops, sorry for missing your check. implemented your check. oh, and — is an html em dash. it shows up on-site as a proper em dash, so it's not a big deal.

This is just a small nitpick, but you mention Superpower in the Overview as a great coverage option; however, Superpower isn't listed in the only set on the analysis. So I would delete it from the overview.

You could run Encore over a coverage move, but Azumarill is better off attacking its foes than playing around with them. Oh, just another note: don't use any of Azumarill's other abilities. They disfigure its beautiful might and render it a useless piece of excrement. Seriously, don't do it, or you might just find the entirety of the ladder pointing and laughing at you, a gleeful smirk etched upon on well, optional their faces at their lack of any need to worry about Azumarill 'as they effortlessly shrug off azumarill's assaults'? (replace).

[Checks and Counters]

Despite its overwhelming power, Azumarill has some weaknesses that can be easily exploited. The first of these is that it lacks a way to break some bulky Water-types. Slowbro can cripple Azumarill with a burn and wear it down with Psyshock while having Regenerator to heal off any damage taken. Suicune pretty much perpetually walls Azumarill and can use it for setup fodder. Empoleon is 3HKOed by Waterfall, but it can take any other attack bar the rare Superpower. However, it is not doing much in return outside of a burn. Shaymin is another excellent way to counter Azumarill, as it takes pittance from even Waterfall and can sap its Azumarill's health with Leech Seed or outright kill it.

Cofagrigus can even carry Will-O-Wisp to render it fully incapable of hurting anything. It can also set up a free Trick Room, which turns the tables on Azumarill and its team.

If, for whatever reason, your team does not contain lacks optional but yea one of the above Pokemon, there is little need to despair. Thanks to Azumarill's abysmal Speed, it can be worn down easily by powerful attacks. A few examples of these are Choice Band Flygon's Outrage, Choice Band Heracross's Megahorn, and Life Orb Mienshao's Hi Jump Kick. These sorts of attacks do irreparable damage to Azumarill. Beating Azumarill in all actuality is not very difficult, but be sure to have a reliable method regardless—otherwise you might just be Azumarill's latest victim.

just a few tiny issues mostly to do with pronouns, really: firstly, be careful of using 'it' where it might be ambiguous, and secondly, 'you' should only ever be used to refer to the trainer, not the pokemon - you are not an azumarill! otherwise, yeah :)

also lazy to edit my check but i would definitely recommend combining the first two AC paragraphs, as well as the last two (as in, two paragraphs, 1+2 and 3+4)

GP check. Good job. Pretty much all of these are minor changes.

[Overview]

While Azumarill might not look like much at first glance with its laughable offenses, with Huge Power in hand it is one of the most powerful Pokemon in UU. With bulk uncharacteristic of offensive powerhouses, Azumarill is not flimsy like a sheet of paper either, as it is being able to take most hits.

Out Additionally, out of all the bulky Water-types in UU, only Slowbro can actually counter Azumarill. Even offensive teams crumble in the face of Aqua Jet. Speaking of Aqua Jet, when Azumarill's high power and STAB are taken into account, it is one of the most powerful priority attacks in all of Pokemon, capable of OHKOing most offensive Pokemon that do not resist it, such as including Heracross, Darmanitan, Flygon, Zapdos, and Chandelure. The excellent neutral coverage it has is also arguably superior to that of all other priority moves.

If Aqua Jet were to be compared to a pistol, then Waterfall would be a nuke. Very few moves in UU can match Azumarill's Waterfall's power level, and none without drawbacks. All but the bulkiest of resists are smashed into pieces by it. However, many bulky Water resists exists exist in UU, so coverage moves to hit them are needed. Double-Edge is the first of these, hitting bulky Water-types such as Slowbro, Milotic, Slowking, and Blastoise hard. In fact, it 2HKOes all but Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage. The other coverage move is is Ice Punch, which hits Grass-types such as Roserade and Shaymin hard.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The given EVs allow Azumarill to outrun Porygon2, hit hard, and take a ton of punishment. A decent alternative is to transfer the HP EVs to Speed, which allows Azumarill to outrun Blastoise and Milotic, both of who which are 2HKOed by Double-Edge. However, the loss in bulk is quite noticeable (add comma) and all Azumarill really avoids with those Speed EVs is being burned by Scald, so keeping the EVs in HP is usually best. Return is a possible replacement for Double-Edge for due to its lack of recoil, but the lower damage output means it won't even 2HKO its main targets.

Entry hazards are required for Azumarill to break past get past / break down / break through some walls, so Pokemon such as Cobalion, Froslass, the aforementioned Roserade, and Cobalion make great partners.

The shining star among these options is a Substitute + Focus Punch set. A Fighting-type attack with a high 150 Base Power as well as protection from revenge killers and status seems excellent on paper, but it doesn't provide much in the way of coverage and such a set is much weaker than the Choice Band variant. A Life Orb might seem to be like a decent item choice so Azumarill can switch moves, but it impairs Azumarill's beloved bulk. You could run Encore over a coverage move, but Azumarill is better off attacking its foes than playing around with them. Oh, just another one more note, don't use any of Azumarill's other abilities. They disfigure its beautiful might and render it a useless piece of excrement. Seriously, don't do it, or you might just find the entirety of the ladder pointing and laughing at you, a gleeful smirk etched upon their faces as they effortlessly shrug off Azumarill's assaults.

Suicune pretty much perpetually walls Azumarill and can use it for as setup fodder. Empoleon is 3HKOed by Waterfall and Double-Edge (they do the same amount of damage since Empoleon 2x resists both and Waterfall's Power = 1.5*80 = 120 = Double-Edge's Power), but it can take any other attack bar the rare Superpower. However, it is not doing much in return outside of a burn trying to burn Azumarill. Shaymin is another excellent way to counter Azumarill, as it takes pittance from even Waterfall and can sap Azumarill's health with Leech Seed or outright kill it. The only move it has to worry about is Ice Punch.

Beating Azumarill in all actuality is not very difficult, but be sure to have a reliable method regardless—otherwise you might just be Azumarill's its latest victim.
