( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
[OVERVIEW]
. Strongest special attacker in the metagame, also has one of the highest base Speeds to go with it
. Capable of wallbreaking or sweeping depending on the set thanks to its fantastic offensive stats
. Its weaker Defense holds it back, easy to revenge kill
. Poor offensive typing, STAB moves not that useful, also poor defensive typing. Weak to common utility and pivot moves such as Knock Off and U-turn
. Very hard to Imposter-proof, almost always needs Imposter-proofing support from the team
. Suffers from 4MSS, can beat almost anything but needs correct moveset
. Outspeeds almost all relevant threats in the metagame, doesn't really need a Choice Scarf

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
. Moonblast hits the Dark-, Dragon-, and Fighting-type Pokemon such as Yveltal, Mega Tyranitar, Mega Gyarados, Giratina, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Mewtwo X for super effective damage, OHKOes all of the aforementioned bar Giratina which is 2HKOed
. Searing Shot and Earth Power hit Steel-type walls such as Registeel and Aegislash super effectively and 2HKOes them, Searing Shot can be replaced with Blue Flare at the cost of losing a bit of accuracy but gaining power and being able to OHKO Mega Gengar (despite not having Earth Power) and also any non-Flash Fire Steel-type wall
. Sludge Wave 2HKOes Fairy-type walls such as Mega Audino and Xerneas, Focus Blast can 2HKO Fur Coat Chansey, Diamond Storm OHKOes Ho-Oh
. King's Shield allows Mega Mewtwo Y to potentially defeat -Ate users by weakening their physical priority moves such as Extreme Speed, Volt Switch is to gain momentum for the team at the cost of Life Orb recoil (can be replaced with Baton Pass for no recoil but no damage either), and Seed Flare OHKOes Water-types, mainly Kyogre (also OHKOes the uncommon Groudon). Seed Flare may be replaced with Energy Ball for more accuracy in exchange for missing out on the OHKO on Kyogre
. Ice Beam can be used on the fourth moveslot to 2HKO uncommon walls such as Lugia and Flash Fire Mega Venusaur if they are a concern, Thunderbolt could also be used to 2HKO Lugia, Kyogre, and Ho-Oh
Set Details
========
. Life Orb is chosen for the great synergy it has with Sheer Force as moves with secondary effects do not trigger Life Orb's recoil damage, along with Sheer Force Mega Mewtwo Y gets a x1.69 multiplier for all of its moves
. A Timid nature along with 252 Speed EVs are chosen to be able to outspeed all Pokemon below base 140 Speed such as Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Gengar and to Speed tie with other Mega Mewtwo Y
. The rest of the EVs are invested into Special Attack for maximum damage output
Usage Tips
========
. Mega Mewtwo Y can break any wall in the metagame with the correct move and should be used in the early and mid game to punch holes into the opponent's team to make it easier to sweep in the late game
. Do not be too concerned with predicting switches, Mega Mewtwo Y's moves usually still hit pretty hard even when resisted and can often finish off the foe on the following turn anyway, not revealing the coverage move immediately also serves as a surprise factor which can result in some free KOs
. Try to pick Mega Mewtwo Y's moves in a way that best suits your team's needs: if your team has no way of breaking a specific wall, use the corresponding coverage move on Mega Mewtwo Y to break that wall
. Try to bring Mega Mewtwo Y in safely on a slow pivot to keep it as healthy as possible, this also has the benefit of making the opponent think you have Focus Sash and would make them think twice before trying to revenge kill Mega Mewtwo Y at full health. It is for this reason that having Volt Switch is the least preferred option for the final moveslot as using this move will reveal Life Orb to the opponent
. Use King's Shield to weaken physical priority moves from revenge killers such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Diancie and proceed to OHKO them with the appropriate coverage moves
. It is very important to keep Mega Mewtwo Y above 60% HP as -Ate boosted Extreme Speeds can finish off Mega Mewtwo Y even if they are weakened by King's Shield at that range
Team Options
========
. Steel-type walls such as Registeel and Aegislash pair well with Mega Mewtwo Y as they can take the -Ate boosted priority moves which would otherwise be able to pick off Mega Mewtwo Y
. Mega Mewtwo Y requires Imposter-proofing support which is also dependent on the chosen set. Flash Fire Registeel can be used if Focus Blast and Earth Power are not chosen for example.
. Physical sweepers such as Mega Tyranitar and Mega Gyarados can clean up after Mega Mewtwo Y has weakened the walls
. Mega Mewtwo Y appreciates Mold Breaker support from users such as Mega Tyranitar, Giratina, and Mega Gengar as it cannot defeat Shedinja by itself, physical Mold Breakers also help deal with Fur Coat Chansey if Focus Blast is not carried
. Hazard removal is also greatly appreciated since hazards limit the amount of times that Mega Mewtwo Y can come into the field
[SET]
name: 'Murican Sniper
move 1: Focus Energy
move 2: Psycho Boost
move 3: Moonblast
move 4: Magma Storm / Earth Power / King's Shield
item: Scope Lens
ability: Sniper
nature: Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
. Focus Energy raises Mega Mewtwo Y's critical hit rating by 2 stages, enabling it to critically hit 100% of the time with the help of Scope Lens
. Psycho Boost is the main STAB move of Mega Mewtwo Y which will ignore all of Mega Mewtwo Y's negative stat changes while also ignoring all of the opponent's positive stat changes thanks to the 100% critical hit rating obtained from using Focus Energy
. Moonblast hits the Dark-types that are immune to Psycho Boost, such as Mega Tyranitar and Yveltal
. Magma Storm is used for coverage to hit the Steel-types that would otherwise wall Mega Mewtwo Y and also defeats Shedinja, can be replaced with Earth Power if dealing with Flash Fire users is a concern (at the expense of not being able to defeat Shedinja). King's Shield can also be used to be able to defeat -Ate users
Set Details
========
. Scope Lens allows Mega Mewtwo Y to reach the third stage of critical hit rating after using Focus Energy which means that all of its moves will be critical hits
. Sniper enables Mega Mewtwo Y to hit for an extra x1.5 for critical strikes, effectively giving it a +1 boost for all attacks after reaching the third critical hit rating stage
. A Timid nature along with 252 Speed EVs are chosen to outspeed all Pokemon below base 140 Speed such as Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Gengar and to Speed tie with other Mega Mewtwo Y
. The rest of the EVs are invested into Special Attack for maximum damage output
Usage Tips
========
. Mega Mewtwo Y should be used in the late game to sweep the opponent team, it could be used earlier however to quickly nuke a threat with a strong Psycho Boost however
. It is crucial for Mega Mewtwo Y not to lose its Scope Lens; for this reason it is a good idea to completely scout for Knock Off users in the opponent team before bringing Mega Mewtwo Y preferably on a slow pivot
========
. Wallbreakers such as Mega Rayquaza, Mega Mewtwo X, and Mega Garchomp can help weaken the opponent walls and allow Mega Mewtwo Y to sweep
. Mega Mewtwo Y needs Mold Breaker support to be able to deal with Shedinja (if Magma Storm is not being used) and greatly appreciates support from the likes of Giratina, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Gengar
. Steel-type walls such as Registeel and Aegislash pair well with Mega Mewtwo Y as they can take the -Ate boosted priority moves which would otherwise be able to pick off Mega Mewtwo Y
. Hazard removal is also greatly appreciated since hazards limit the amount of times that Mega Mewtwo Y can come into the field
. Mega Mewtwo Y is Imposter-resistant as Imposters will only have a 50% critical hit chance since they do not carry Scope Lens (bar Lucky Punch Imposter Chansey which is uncommon). It is however still a good idea to include a teammate to completely Imposter-proof Mega Mewtwo Y as 50% critical hit chance is still a pretty good value. Steel-type Walls such as Flash Fire or Levitate Registeel or Aegislash are able to completely wall Imposters and prevent the team from being potentially counter-swept
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
. A pivoting move such as Baton Pass or Parting Shot may be used on the Sheer Force set so that Life Orb is not revealed but at the expense of not dealing damage
. Freeze Dry is another option for the Sheer Force set which hits both Water-types such as Kyogre and Flying-types such as Lugia that can be used
. Moves such as Infestation or Leech Seed may be used for the fourth moveslot for either set to be able to defeat Shedinja but at the cost of losing potentially important coverage or being able to defeat -Ate users or pivoting
. No Guard is another viable ability that can be run on Mega Mewtwo Y, a spread of 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe with a Timid nature is recommended along with a moveset consisting of Sing, Inferno, Zap Cannon, and either Focus Blast or Dynamic Punch.
. Sets such as Contrary and Tinted Lens can be run to fulfill the wallbreaking role of the Sheer Force set, however both sets do use STAB moves as the main damaging move which is not ideal since Psychic typing is not too good of an offensive type
Checks and Counters
===================
**-Ate Users**: Mega Rayquaza and Mega Diancie can threaten Mega Mewtwo Y with their -Ate boosted priority moves and force it out
**Super Effective Priority Moves**: such as Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak coming from strong physical attackers such as Mega Tyranitar and Mega Mewtwo X can revenge kill Mega Mewtwo Y as it has a low Defense stat
**Gale Wings Users**: such as Mega Rayquaza can revenge kill Mega Mewtwo Y with moves such as Dragon Ascent and Oblivion Wing
**Priority Sleep**: Prankster users such as Registeel and Mega Rayquaza can put Mega Mewtwo Y to sleep with moves such as Spore and Dark Void and then either phaze it or set up on it
**Faster Threats**: such as Mega Aerodactyl and Deoxys-A can outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y and threaten it
**Specially Defensive Walls**: such as Fur Coat Chansey, Kyogre, and Ho-Oh can wall Mega Mewtwo Y depending on its coverage moves but are at risk if Mega Mewtwo Y is carrying the appropriate coverage move
**Shedinja**: Shedinja does wall Mega Mewtwo Y but having Shedinja on a team requires a lot of team support and also it will no longer be able to switch into Mega Mewtwo Y if hazards are on the field or if Mega Mewtwo Y pivots or doubles into a Mold Breaker user on the Shedinja switch
A few notes for QC:
1. I'm not sure if I should even include the Sniper set as its not really that good imo. What do you think?
