[OVERVIEW]
Barbaracle is a powerful Pokemon with access to the coveted move Shell Smash, making it one of the most feared threats in the tier. With decent defensive stats Barbaracle is able to set up a Shell Smash on most defensive Pokemons like: Garbodor (without Seed Bomb), Golbat, Mega-Audino and Aromatisse. It's Water- and Rock- typing gives it very few defensive checks, especially in conjunction with Rockium-Z. However, faster Pokemon such as Sceptile, Rotom-C, Whimsicott and Virizion all outspeed and have the ability to OHKO Barbaracle before it boosts. That being said, Barbaracle's Speed tier is able to outrun the whole tier and every viable Choice Scarf user after a boost, and thus is quite difficult to revenge kill.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Shell Smash boosts Barbaracle's offensive stats and speed greatly, allowing it to outspeed every relevant Pokemon in the tier such as Sceptile, Scarf Delphox, and Cinncino. Razor Shell is Barbaracle's main Water STAB which OHKO's Pokemon like Rhydon, Steelix, and Piloswine. Return gives Barbaracle a reliable move that cannot miss and gets boosted by Tough Claws. Then as last move you can either run Stone Edge which is Barbaracle his second STAB, while this isn't really necessary to have since what you able to hit with Stone Edge you're able to hit everything with Normal Water coverage already. Stone Edge is mainly used in combination with Rockium Z so Barbaracle is able to OHKO Jellicent, Qwilfish, Uxie, Vileplume and defensive Garbodor while not taking any damage in the process. The other option to run in the last slot is Grass Knot is mainly to do heavy damage to the Water Ground types such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon which otherwise will hard check you, and it is also boosted by Tough Claws.

Set Details
========

By maximizing Attack and Speed works the best for Barbaracle to abuse the most of it's raw power after a Shell Smash. Adamant nature is to power up Barbaracles good Attack stat to even greater heights, you could run Jolly so you outspeed, Scarf Delphox and Scyther what is in some cases good but you lose out on alot of power. You wont be able to OHKO Mega-Audino with Z-Stone Edge after Stealth Rock damage for example. Tough Claws is the only good Ability on Barbaracle, it's able to boost Contact moves by 1.3 which will Boost Razor Shell, Return and Grass knot. The item Rockium Z is to make Babaracle's STAB Stone Edge even more powerful and makes some 2HKOs an OHKO. Alternatively, with White Herb you lose reset the stat drops from a Shell Smash and take priority moves easier.

Usage Tips
========

With this set it's best to find a defensive pokemon like Aromatisse, Golbat, Mega-Audino and Garbodor or offensive pokemon that not able to do alot of damage to Barbaracle such as Choice locked Fire-, Flying-type moves, Sneasel that is locked into Ice-type moves and set up on those. You should try to find pokemons on the opponents side that is able to take a hit from Barbaracle and priotize weakening these first before you try to sweep with Barbaracle. Good example is "Garbodor" although Garbodor tends to run Grass coverage to not be a free set up for Barbaracle so you should try to find out first what it's last coverage move is before you try to set up on Garbodor. Good thing to note as last is that people tend to forget Razor Shell / Return is already pretty powerful because of the Tough Claws boost so even without a +2 boost so don't hesitate if you just want to attack fearing a normal counter to Barbaracle to switch in.

Team Options
========

Memento users such as Whimsicott and Uxie work well with Barbaracle, giving the opponent -2 in both Attack and Special Attack and give Barbaracle ample setup opportunities. Fire-types such as Emboar, Houndoom and Delphox are amazing for Barbaracle as they are able to deal with the bulky Grass-types such as Ferroseed, Vileplume and Torterra. In return Barbaracle is easily able to deal with bulky Rock-types such as Rhydon what Fire-types have a hard time dealing with. Grass-types are another great option for Barbaracle, such as Virizion, Vileplume, Sceptile and Rotom-C. If you don't run Grass Knot the Grass-types are able to deal with the bulky Water-types that otherwise are able to hit a hit and probably to OHKO back. In return Barbaracle deals with the Fire-types that these Grass-types have a hard time dealing with.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Superpower is also an option to run as last to hit Ferroseed but this makes you more vulnerable to priority and weaker, as well as the fact that Ferroseed is quite rare. Subsitute is a viable option to run with Memento support, in order to avoid Will-O-Wisp and Scald from Jellicent, Slowbro, and Vaporeon respectively. Shadow Claw is an option to OHKO Slowking and Jellicent after Stealth Rock damage with +2, you don't OHKO Slowbro though. Choice Scarf can be used to get surprise kills on faster Pokémon like Sceptile, Delphox, Houndoom and Sneasel.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume, Gourgeist-XL, and Lurantis are able to take a hit 90% of the time from non Continental Crush Barbaracle, Ferroseed is able to take Continental Crush as well and because of Barbaracles 4x weakness to Grass you can easily OHKO it back.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Pyukumuku, Gastrodon and defensive Seismitoad are easily able to take hits if you don't run Grass knot and do heavy damage back at you. Slowbro and Poliwrath is able to take anything Barbaracle throws at it, Slowbro is able to OHKO it back with Hydro Vortex and Poliwrath can phaze it with Circle Throw.

**Faster Pokemon**: Because Barbaracle has a relatively poor defensive typing offensive threats like Sceptile, Hitmonlee, Scarf Emboar, Whimsicott and Rotom-C can OHKO it, however if Barbaracle has already set up a Shell Smash they cannot deal with anymore.

**Whimsicott**: Despite Whimsicott having incrediblely poor defenses, Whimsicott forces mindgames due to Prankster Encore and can lock Barbaracle into a single move, making counterplay easier.

**Priority Users**: Priority users such as Mach Punch Hitmonlee, Sucker Punch Absol and Spiritomb are able to revenge Barbaracle, however they need significant chip damage to KO it.

QC talked about this the other day and the set should be:

Return's accuracy is too important to give up and Sub is just a relic from ORAS. Also 3 extra HP is completely useless, you might as well speed tie other Barb

[OVERVIEW]
  • Decent defensive stats makes Barbaracle able to set up a Shell Smash on most defensive Pokemons like: Garbodor (without Seed Bomb), Jellicent and Granbull.
  • The typing of Barbaracle is great for offense there are a little amount of pokemons that resist both Water and Rock.
  • That said Water Rock isn't a great defensive typing so you shouldn't expect to defensively check pokemons because most have a coverage to hit you.
- Wait, why would u want to set up on Jellicent?
- Add that Barbaracle's Speed tier makes it able to outrun popular Choice Scarf users such as Hitmonlee, Rotom-C, and Braviary, making it an even greater threat to offense.

Moves
========
  • Stone Edge is Barbaracle his second STAB, while this isn't really necassary to have since what you able to hit with Stone Edge you're able to hit everything with Normal Water coverage already. That said in combination with Rockium Z Barbaracle is able to OHKO defensive Garbodor while not taking any damage in the process.
  • Grass Knot is mainly to OHKO Water Ground types such as Quagsire, Seismitoad and Gastrodon which otherwise will hard check you. If you don't mind losing the straight power of Stone Edge Grass Knot is a good last move to have on Barbaracle.
- Specify that Stone Edge is primarily used for Continental Crush, giving Barbaracle access to a nuke that is capable of OHKOing the likes of Jellicent, defensive Garbo, Qwilfish (even after Intimidate), Vaporeon, Uxie, and Vileplume after a Shell Smash boost. +2 Continental Crush also OHKOes Gourgeist-Super and Slowbro after Stealth Rock damage.
- Seismitoad is the only mon on that list that dies to +2 GK; the other two can shrug off GK quite handily, which sort of limits its usefulness. You may also point out that Grass Knot is Tough Claws-boosted, as most newer players don't associate special moves as contact.

Set Details
========
  • Adamant nature is to power up Barbaracles good Attack stat to even greater heights, you could run Jolly so you outspeed Scarf Pyroar, Delphox and Scyther what is in some cases good but you lose out on alot of power.
  • Rockium Z is to make Babaracles STAB Stone Edge even more powerful and makes it able to OHKO Virizion, Slowbro, Garbodor (without taking Rocky Helmet and Aftermath), Vileplume and do heavy damage to Ferroseed despite being resisted.
- I don't think Pyroar is relevant enough to mention, so you could just omit that.
- To avoid redundancy, I suggest listing Rockium Z's targets into the Moves section, while mentioning here that in addition to boosting Stone Edge's power, it also gives Barbaracle a perfectly accurate Rock-type attack.

Usage Tips
========
  • With this set it's best to find a defensive pokemon that isn't able to do alot of damage to Barbaracle and set up on those.
  • Try to find the pokemons on the opponents side that is able to take a hit from Barbaracle and priotize weakening these first before you try to sweep with Barbaracle.
  • Garbodor tends to run Grass coverage to not be a free set up for Barbaracle so try to find out first what it's last coverage move is before you try to set up on Garbodor.
  • People tend to forget Razor Shell / Return is already pretty powerful because of the Tough Claws boost so even without a +2 boost so don't hesitate if you just want to attack fearing a normal counter to Barbaracle to switch in.
Well, is there anything else Barbaracle might be able to set up on? Like say, Choice-locked Fire- and Flying-type moves, or mons like Golbat or Eviolite Scyther? Perhaps even Sneasel and Tauros? What other defensive Pokemon can Barbaracle attempt to set up on without risking massive damage or crippling status ailments?

Team Options
========
  • Memento users are great with Barbaracle, giving the opponent -2 in both Attack and Special Attack give Barbaracle alot free set ups without taking too much damage.
Memento users such as? You could mention Aurora Veil while you're at this.

Other Options
=============
  • Superpower is also an option to run as last to hit Ferroseed but this makes you vulnerable to priority since you decrease your Defense even more + decrease your Attack which makes some normal OHKO's at +2 not a OHKO anymore. Also good thing to note is that Ferroseed isn't as common as it was in ORAS.
- You can mention Cross Chop as an alternative to Superpower as it doesn't hurt your chances at sweeping long-run. You know, provided it hits.
- Shadow Claw is an option solely for +2 Barbaracle to OHKO Slowking, as well as OHKO Jellicent after Stealth Rock damage. It doesn't do enough to Slowbro or Gourgeist-Super though.
- Choice Scarf is a mild option to consider as it is fast enough to outrun Sceptile and has access to Switcheroo to cripple bulkier foes, but it doesn't outrun the majority of speed-boosting threats and is outsped by most other Choice Scarf users.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types are able to take a hit 90% of the time and because of Barbaracles 4x weakness to Grass you easily able to OHKO it back.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types are easily able to take hits if you don't run Grass knot and do heavy damage back at you.

**Faster offensive pokemons**: Because Barbaracles pretty poor defensive typing offensive threats have most of the time at least 1 coverage or STAB move to hit Barbaracle with, because of Barbaracle pretty poor Speed stat before a boost makes it hard for Barbaracle to set up then.

**Whimsicott**: Despite Whimsicott having incrediblely poor defenses Whimsicott does make you think twice before clicking Shell Smash with Barbaracle, with Prankster Encore makes Barbaracle almost never able to hit anything after a Shell Smash (unless you have a Z move but you can only that once.) which makes it hard for Barbaracle to do something when the opponent has a Whimsicott.
So first off, not liking the complete lack of examples for each of the non-specific sections.
- With the exception of Ferroseed, most Grass-types just die to +2 Continental Crush, so I'd just bring up bulky Grass-types being able to stop non-Rockium Z variants of Barbaracle, like Vileplume, Gourgeist-XL, and Lurantis.
- Quagsire and Gastrodon are notable answers to Barbaracle, though they might not be able to KO a healthy Grass Knot Barbaracle before it 2HKOes them. Seismitoad is a comfortable answer to non-Grass Knot Barbaracle. Jellicent hard counters non-Rockium Z Barbaracle, while Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon can stomach a +2 Stone Edge and either retaliate with status, phazing, or do large damage with Scald against -1 SpD Barbaracle. Poliwrath also deserves mention, being able to take +2 Return and fire back with Vacuum Wave or Circle Throw.
- Obvious emphasis on faster Grass-types when talking about faster Pokemon. Fighting-types as well.
- Considering Rockium Z is the first slash on Barbaracle, Whimsicott can only really stop the sweep once but may die to +2 Continental Crush in the process, or a teammate may be forced to eat a +4 Continental Crush instead, so it doesn't shut down Barbaracle that hard.

Remove all the mentions of ORAS, past gens aren't relevant to analyses

Also add revenge killers to Checks and Counters. High Speed Scarfers and priority like Hitmonlee's Mach Punch can pick it off if it's low enough.

You didn't correct this part; first off you didn't mention Grass Knot needs +2 to even OHKO Seismitoad, and Quag doesn't get OHKOed by Grass Knot nor does Gastrodon fall to +2 Grass Knot, so this entire sentence is full of misleading claims.

Overview:
  • Granbull isn't a great example of something Barbaracle can set up on considering they commonly run Thunder Wave and Earthquake, maybe Golbat or Aromatisse would be better examples.
  • The last line isn't necessary, you're not using Barbaracle to defensively check things anyway, in fact is has pretty good bulk for an uninvested defensive Pokemon.
Moves:
  • Remove mentions of Meloetta and Quagsire
Set Details:
  • What specific KO's does Jolly lose?
Usage Tips:
  • Swap Granbull with something else
Team Options:
  • Tangela is irrelevant so get rid of that
C&C:
  • Get rid of Tangela / Quagsire
  • Rename the "Revenge Killers" section to "Priority Users"
  • Add another example for Choice Scarf users

Hi Jarii, 2 things:

First, please update the tag from Quality Control to Copyediting, it helps staff keep track of analysis progress.

Second, as per your last analysis, Kris had requested that you pay extra attention to the Grammar standards (listed here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/spelling-and-grammar-standards.3588427/). There are many mistakes in this analysis that could be fixed by giving these standards a read through. I'm willing to give you 48 hours to work through these standards and remove simple mistakes (Rotom-Mow should consistently be Rotom-C, scarfer is not an acceptable term, etc). If you need more time, please let me know, but I don't want to let this wait too long since Barbaracle is an influential Pokemon in the NU metagame and the analysis deserves some priority. Once this is done, I am willing to give the analysis a thorough check and fix any grammar issues you have trouble with presuming the bulk of simple mistakes are fixed and out of the way. Otherwise, I'm not willing to check this.

Barbaracle is a powerful Pokemon with access to the coveted move Shell Smash, making it one of the most feared threats in the tier. With its decent defensive stats, (AC) Barbaracle has it's is able to set up a Shell Smash on most defensive Pokemons the plural of "Pokemon" is just the same as singular, and "Pokemon" is always capitalized like: (remove colon) Garbodor (without Seed Bomb), Golbat, Mega-Audino (RH) for future reference, mega Pokemon don't get a hyphen (without Grass Knot), (AC) smogon uses serial comma and Aromatisse. The Water Rock Barbaracle's Rock / Water (its primary typing is rock, and use a slash when talking about a dual typing) gives it very few defensive checks, especially in conjunction with Rockium-Z (RH). However, faster Pokemon such as Sceptile, Rotom-C, Whimsicott, (AC) and Virizion all outspeed Barbaracle and have the ability to OHKO Barbaracle it before it boosts. That being said, Barbaracle's Speed tier is able to outrun the whole tier and every viable Choice Scarf user after a boosts added 's' because after ss it receives more than 1 boost from Shell Smash, and thus is quite difficult to revenge kill.

Moves
========

Shell Smash boosts Barbaracle's offensive stats and Speed greatly, allowing it to outspeed every relevant Pokemon in the tier, (AC) such as Sceptile, Choice Scarf Delphox, and Cinncino. Razor Shell is Barbaracle's main Water STAB, (AC) which OHKO'es (RP) Pokemon like Rhydon, Steelix, and Piloswine. Return gives Barbaracle a reliable move attack that cannot miss and gets boosted by Tough Claws. Then as last move you can either (??, you've only listed Stone Edge here, Grass Knot isn't mentioned until further down) run Stone Edge, (AC) which is one of Barbaracle's (AP) his second STAB attacks, while but this isn't really necessary to have, (AC) since what you able to hit with Stone Edge you're able to hit everything with Normal Water coverage already all the Pokemon hit by Stone Edge, are hit by Water- and Normal coverage already. i try not to change sentence structure, but i really couldn't understand the point you were trying to make with your wording, if you want you can go over it again and make it clearer Stone Edge is mainly used in combination with Rockium Z, (AC) so Barbaracle is able to OHKO Jellicent, Qwilfish, Uxie, Vileplume, (AC) and defensive Garbodor while not taking any damage from Rocky Helmet or Aftermath just to clear up, readers might not know what 'damage' you're specifically talking about in the process. The other option to run in the last slot is Grass Knot, which is mainly used to do heavy damage to the Water / Ground types such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon, (AC) which will otherwise will hard check you Barbaracle, and it is also boosted by Tough Claws.

Set Details
========

By maximizing Maximum Attack and Speed investment works the best for Barbaracle, (AC) allowing it to make abuse the most of it's raw power after a Shell Smash. the sentence overall is really messy and choppy, if i were you i would revisit the sentence and try and reword it, something like "maximum evs maximize it's offensive presence to the fullest or something along those lines, also avoid using the word "abuse" in analyses An Adamant nature is used to power up Barbaracle's (AP) good Attack stat to even greater heights. (period) Alternatively, you could run a Jolly nature could be ran so you to outspeed, (RC) Choice Scarf Delphox and Scyther, (AC) what is which in some cases is good, (AC) but you Barbaracle loses out on alot a lot of power. For example, You Barbaracle won't (AP) be able to OHKO Mega-Audino (RH) with Z-Stone Edge Continental Crush after Stealth Rock damage for example. Tough Claws is the only good Ability on Barbaracle, as it's able to boost Contact moves by 1.3 you could remove the "by 1.3" as it's kind of irrelevant to reader, up to you though ,(AC) which will boost Razor Shell, Return, (AC) and Grass knot. The item Rockium Z is to make Babaracle's STAB Stone Edge even more powerful and makes some 2HKOs an OHKO. Alternatively, with White Herb can be used to you lose reset the stat drops from a Shell Smash and take priority moves easier.

Usage Tips
========

With this set fluff, also Shell Smash is only main set so this is a bit redundant When setting up with Shell Smash, it's best to find a defensive Pokemon like Aromatisse, Golbat, Mega-Audino (RH), (AC) and Garbodor, (AC) or offensive Pokemon that not able to do alot can't deal a lot of damage to Barbaracle, (AC) such as Choice locked Fire-, (RC) and Flying-type moves, Sneasel that is locked into Ice-type moves and set up on those. You should try to find Pokemons on the opponents side that is able to take a hit from Barbaracle, (AC) and priotize prioritize weakening these first before you try to sweep with Barbaracle. A good example of this would be is "Garbodor"(remove speech marks) ; (ASC) although Garbodor tends to run Grass coverage to not be a free set up for Barbaracle, (AC) so you should try to find out first what it's last coverage move is before you try to set up on Garbodor. Another good thing to note as last is would be that people tend to forget Razor Shell / alongside Return is already pretty powerful because of the Tough Claws boost, (AC) so even without a +2 boost so don't hesitate if you just want to attack fearing a normal counter to Barbaracle to switch in.

Team Options
========

Memento users such as Whimsicott and Uxie work well with Barbaracle, giving the opponent foe "opponent" refers to the person you're playing against; for future reference use "foe", "target", or "enemy" when referring to opposing pokemon -2 in both Attack and Special Attack, (AC) and give giving Barbaracle ample setup opportunities. Fire-types such as Emboar, Houndoom, (AC) and Delphox are amazing teammates (optional, but just for clarification) for Barbaracle, (AC) as they are able to deal with the bulky Grass-types such as Ferroseed, Vileplume, (AC) and Torterra. In return, (AC) Barbaracle is easily able to deal with bulky Rock-types such as Rhydon, (AC) which are what Fire-types have a hard time dealing with. Grass-types are another great partners option Grass-types aren't exactly 'Barbaracle's options', meaning that Grass-types don't belong to it for Barbaracle, such as Virizion, Vileplume, Sceptile, (AC) and Rotom-C. If you don't Barbaracle isn't running Grass Knot, (AC) the Grass-types are able to deal with the bulky Water-types that otherwise are able to hit a hit and probably to OHKO back. In return, (AC) Barbaracle deals with the Fire-types that these Grass-types have a hard time dealing with.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Superpower is also this is your first point in oo, so using 'also' is slightly redundant an option to run as Barbaracle's last move to hit Ferroseed, (AC) but this makes you Barbaracle more vulnerable to priority and weaker without access to Shell Smash (optional, but it clears up vagueness), as well as the fact that Ferroseed is quite rare. Subsitute Substitute is a viable option to run with Memento support, in order to avoid Will-O-Wisp and Scald from Jellicent, Slowbro, and Vaporeon respectively. Shadow Claw is an option to OHKO Slowking and Jellicent after Stealth Rock damage with +2 Attack (optional as to whether or not u decide to implement this, but just clears up any potiental confusion), although you don't OHKO Slowbro though. Choice Scarf can be used to get surprise kills KOs on faster Pokémon Pokemon don't use the 'é' in 'Pokemon' in analyses like Sceptile, Delphox, Houndoom, (AC) and Sneasel.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Grass-types**: Bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume, Gourgeist-XL, and Lurantis are able to take a hit 90% of the time from non Continental Crush Barbaracle. (period) Ferroseed is able to take a Continental Crush as well, (AC) and because of Barbaracle's (AP) 4x weakness to Grass, (AC) you Ferroseed can easily OHKO it back.

**Bulky Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Pyukumuku, Gastrodon, (AC) and defensive Seismitoad are easily able to take hits if you don't run from Barbaracle if it's lacking Grass knot, (AC) and do can deal heavy damage back at you. Slowbro and Poliwrath is are able to take anything Barbaracle throws at it them. (period) Slowbro's (AP) Hydro Vortex is able to OHKO Barbaracle, (AC) it back with Hydro Vortex and Poliwrath can phaze it out with Circle Throw.

**Faster Pokemon**: Because Due to Barbaracle's has a relatively poor defensive typing, (AC) offensive threats like Sceptile, Hitmonlee, Choice Scarf Emboar, Whimsicott, (AC) and Rotom-C can all OHKO it, however if Barbaracle has already set up a Shell Smash they cannot deal with anymore.

**Whimsicott**: Despite Whimsicott having incrediblely incredibly poor defenses, (AC) Whimsicott forces mindgames due to Prankster Encore and can lock Barbaracle into a single move, making counterplay easier.

**Priority Users**: Priority users such as Mach Punch Hitmonlee, (RC) and Sucker Punch Absol / and Spiritomb are able to take down Barbaracle pretty easily with some chip, especially when you Barbaracle don't doesn't have a White Herb and have -1 Defense from the Shell Smash.

oh and if you decide to write more analyses in the future, i advise reading these notes; they'll help a lot in the future

Assuming you're not waiting to see if this is banned before implementing stuff, make sure to reframe set details to imply that Jolly better so that it matches the nature slashes.
