You begin the tournament with two (2) Star Chips that you can wager in ORAS OU battles for this tournament. You must wager at least one (1) Star Chip per match. If you drop to 0 Star Chips, you lose and are removed from the tournament. If you collect eight (8) Star Chips, you will advance to the next round! Beware: do NOT accept any wagers that would push you above eight Star Chips - both players will receive a penalty by doing so and excess Star Chips will be handled accordingly.

The tournament is now single-elimination, best of 3 (ORAS OU). Later rounds (likely top 12 and up) will request that you post replays: please be aware of this now.

i didn't think it'd work out mathematically but i just actually did it and it does:

48 (current players) x 2 (chips) = 96 / 8 (needed to progress) = 12 (players moving on)

12 x 2 = 24 / 8 = 3

3-man bo3 finals (as it would be at the end of this tournament)​

agree that it would be a lot cooler to do it all like r1, but thing is, i'm concerned about activity in the remaining rounds. we had thirty or forty people (some quite inactive tho mind you) in the last few days and had like 15 matches completed between all of them. i don't mind reversing the bo3 into R1 format, but i'd like other TD approval & confirmation that all of you guys would be plenty active / willing to post a few blocks of time (minimum 1h of availability on smogtours) that you'd be willing to play for battle city. also, 100% fine with scheduling matches over VM / through the thread too if it helps matches get completed

also for what it's worth if format is changed, i would probably treat the already-completed matches as 1-chip bets unless a good enough reason not to is brought up to me

no, 96 is the collective pool of chips between all players, and you need 8 in total to progress so 12 people will be able to move on from that initial collective pool of 96 chips

why not give everyone x amount of chips this round then have those with the most chips at the end of the deadline (w,e cutoff) and have them move on to the next round? that way there'll likely be constant activity until the deadline unlike last round

i'm not a td so it's not official but i'm p sure r2 is gonna be played in the same format as r1

if this is actually happening i need to drop, i dont have time to hunt chips down for most of this week. i assumed we'd just be playing Bo3s after. its kind of stupid to change the entire rules of the tourney after not only 1) people have already played and 2) weve thought that this is how it was going to go down for a while now. i think this format with so few players is also going to have major activity issues.
