Battle in a grassy field! Tortferngatr vs. Rolf! [WON BY TORTFERNGATR]

Brandon laid in the open field, watching the clouds go by with his newest Pokemon, Mindstrike the Ralts. Suddenly he heard movement, and looked up to see Ryan arriving at the field. Standing up, he saw Tortferngatr arriving as well. "Well little buddy, you're going to get a chance to see how it's done by two experts!" Ralts cooed appreciatively, and Brandon quickly double checked the rules.

He also looked around the field, but there was nothing but grass as far as the eye could see. Seeing that the trainers weren't quite ready yet, he checked their teams to see what they were using.

"Weird, for some reason Ryan only brought two Pokemon," Brandon thought to himself as the two battlers finished their preparations. "Then again, I suppose he only needs one." Seeing that the trainers were ready to go, he addressed them. "Alright, surely you two know how this works, so Ryan, send out your Pokemon and let's get started!"

Rolf, you're up!

In what was probably the easiest prediction ever made, Tortferngatr indeed sent out Float the Krillowatt.

"This should be easy-but first, let's Hone our Claws! Use your improved targeting to Hydro Pump that beard of flames and your improved damage to Earthquake!"

This is assuming the +1 booster buff is in effect.

Start with a nice, long Yawn to make this guy a bit drowsy. Finish by going rampant with a Wild Charge, then keep flying in with a tremendous Head Smash!

Brandon watched as Ryan and Tortferngatr selected their Pokemon and sent them out. Ryan selected his Emboar, named Skrimir, while Tort sent out Float, his Krillowatt.

Brandon and Mindstrike watched as the fully-evolved Pokemon began their battle. Float, much faster than the Emboar opposite him, started off the battle, using Hone Claws to boost both her attack and accuracy! This clearly bored Skrimir though, and he showed his boredom with a loud Yawn! Float yawned in return, clearly drowsy. Mindstrike looked perplexed, wondering why the powerful Pokemon weren't attacking. "Haha, don't worry little buddy, they'll be attacking soon," Brandon told his Ralts.

Sure enough, Float went on the offensive, launching a massive Hydro Pump at Skrimir! It hit hard, but the Emboar shook it off and responded with a powerful Wild Charge! Float took the blow, then shook the ground with a massive Earthquake! Skrimir braced himself for the blow, and then finished off the round with a Head Smash! While Mindstrike was awed by the powerful attacks, Brandon checked on the Pokemon.

Action 1:
Float used Hone Claws -> 6 energy, +1 attack, +1 accuracy
Skrimir used Yawn -> 7 energy, Float is drowsy (will fall asleep in 3 actions)

Action 2:
Float used Hydro Pump -> (12[BP] + 3[STAB]) * 1.5[SE] = 22.5, rounded to 23 damage, 7 energy
Skrimir used Wild Charge -> 9[BP] + 5.5[Stat Dif.] = 14.5, rounded to 15 damage, 7 energy, 3.75, rounded to 4 recoil

Action 3:
Float uses Earthquake -> (10[BP] + 1.5[Stat Dif.]) * 1.5[SE] + 1.5[Boost Dif.] = 18.75, rounded to 19 damage, 7 energy
Skrimir used Head Smash -> 15[BP] + 5.5[Stat Dif.] = 20.5 damage, rounded to 21 damage, 9 energy, 10.5, rounded to 11 recoil

"Skrimir did a lot of damage to Float, but recoil did a lot of damage to himself as well," Brandon mused. "Good thing Float will be falling asleep soon, so Skrimir will have the chance to make up the difference. Alright, Rolf's up next!"

Rolf, you're up!

hmm. How about we try Tail Whipping? (counter is scary) Wild Charge again, then Head Smash again.

"Imprison Emboar's Wild Charge, then see if you aren't too heavy a sleeper. If not, then on the third action Counter that Emboar's attack right back at him!"

Float was starting to nod off, but before she did she made an effort to Imprison Skrimir's moves! As she fell into an intense sleep, the last thing she saw was Skrimir using Tail Whip! Somehow Float found it incredibly cute, and lowered her defense as a result! Skrimir tried to take advantage of Float's nap with a Wild Charge, but try as he might he just couldn't remember how to use it and failed!

While Mindstrike had stopped paying attention to the match and was now idly lifting a pebble with his psychic powers, Brandon watched as Skrimir found an attack he could still remember how to use; Head Smash! The powerful attack hurt Skrimir, but hurt Float far more! However, she also seemed to be stirring a bit sooner than expected! Brandon checked on the Pokemon as Mindstrike started playing with a Shadow Ball.

Brandon watched Mindstrike play with his Shadow Ball as he thought about the match. "Well, Skrimir evened it up a bit, but it looks like Float is about to wake up, and not being able to pull off that Wild Charge really hurt. He still has enough HP that he might be able to pull it off, but it's going to be tough." He turned to the battlefield. "Alright, let's keep going!"

As Mindstrike let his Shadow Ball dissipate to watch the battle, Float slowly woke up! She decided to use Hone Claws in preparation for her assault. Skrimir decided it was now or never, and went all-out with a powerful Take Down! Float took a decent chunk of damage, but Brandon couldn't help but think that all this recoil was going to hurt Skrimir in the long run.

Float pressed her advantage, shaking the ground with a powerful Earthquake! Skrimir teetered, but managed to stay standing, and responded with a monstrous Head Smash! Mindstrike winced at the impact, and Brandon was awed. "Wow, that did a lot of damage to both Pokemon!"

Float managed to get back up, however. Charging herself with electricity, she suddenly attacked with a Wild Charge! She smashed into Skrimir, knocking him down! Brandon and Mindstrike watched anxiously as Skrimir tried to stand up, but he fell back down, knocked out. "It's over!" Brandon announced. "Tortferngatr has won!" Brandon thanked both trainers for the battle and congratulated Tort for his hard-fought win as the trainers recalled their Pokemon.
