About Battling 101:
The player has the right to fight the tutor in at most 3 battles (singles or doubles), being two 2vs2 and one 3vs3. In those battles the player can use either rentals, aka, copies of pokemon owned by registered players, or his own mons. The Tutor should respond with either rentals or pokemon of his own that match the level of the ones used by the player.

The battle will play out normally, with the tutor playing to win. During the match, the tutor should give tips on moves and what-not, but only after the player orders. Comment on why a certain strategy you/they used went right/wrong and why you/they won/lost the battle.

The Pupil isn't obligated to use all 3 battles, or to use them before or after registering. They can register their team and use the 3 battles to pratice with them. Or they can use the 3 battle solely to try on stuff. Or they can test with 2 matches, register a team and then use the last one as a final test. Or any other way that seems fit.

The Lucy Squad

Tessa Gray [♀][Theresa Gray]
Type: Grass/Ghost
Grass - Immunity to Leech Seed, Worry Seed, and all "Powder" based attacks (Poisonpowder, Powder, Rage Powder, Sleep Powder, Spore, Stun Spore). Unable to have Petal Dance disrupted by oncoming damage. Ignores Arena restrictions on Grass attacks requiring an external grass source. Bloom Command.
Ghost - Immune to the effects of full trapping moves and the Arena Trap, Magnet Pull, and Shadow Tag abilities. Ghost types can switch out while affected by a partial trapping move, but they will be damaged every action by their effect.

Abilities:
Forewarn: (Passive) This Pokemon is more adept than usual at sensing and reacting to the opponent's attacks. As a result, it gets a bonus move substitution that must have a condition in the format "If Pokemon X uses move Y", with no further qualifiers or additional clauses allowed. This bonus substitution may go anywhere in the list of substitutions the pokemon makes, but it must be indicated with "Bonus" or "Bonus Sub" or something similar in front of the bonus substitution.
Telepathy (HA): (Passive) This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple battles, which allows it to avoid taking damage from allied attacks that damage each foe or the entire field like Blizzard and Earthquake. They are still affected by an opponents spread damage attacks.

Will Herondale [♂] [William Herondale]
Type: Fighting/Steel
Fighting - Ignore weight restrictions on Circle Throw, Seismic Toss, Sky Drop, Storm Throw, Submission, and Vital Throw.
Steel - Immune to Sandstorm damage, immune to Poison/Toxic status, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, making them susceptible to Poison-type attacks and Poison/Toxic Status.

Abilities:
Steadfast: (Passive) If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases its Speed (adjusting the natural stage) by one (1) stage to make up the difference.
Inner Focus: (Passive) When an opponent attempts to flinch this Pokemon, it stands firm and continues its attack. If it has another ability that would be activated by flinching, that ability activates.
Justified (HA): (Passive) This Pokemon's body reacts to dark energy, invigorating its passions. When hit by a Dark-type move, the Pokemon's Attack will increase one (1) stage (adjusting the natural stage).

Water - Ignores arena restrictions on Water attacks that require an external water source. Evasive Diving reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
Fairy - The consecutive move usage penalty for using damaging Fairy-type moves is reduced to two (2) from four (4).

Abilities:
Thick Fat:
(Passive) This Pokemon has a great deal of extra fat or muscle that increases its resistance to extreme heat or extreme cold, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire- and Ice-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.)
Huge Power: (Passive) This Pokemon has immense inner strength that grows with its development, raising its Attack and its Base Rank Total by one Rank for each evolution level (first of three stages = 1, first of two stages or second of three stages = 2, fully evolved = 3). If Skill Swapped, the swapped Pokemon's Attack and Base Rank Total is only raised by one Rank.
Sap Sipper (HA): (Passive) This Pokemon lives on a steady diet of plants and has developed defenses to every Grass-type attack. When attacked with a Grass-type move, damage and effects are negated and the Pokemon gains a one (1) stage boost to its Attack stage (adjusting the natural stage).

Each of your pokemon has pretty good matchups and pretty awful matchups. There are little if not none average matchups. If you want to succeed, you will need to make the matchup you want is on. Or at least that the matchup you don't want is off.

Let's begin.

Saria the Roserade: Sludge Bomb - Sludge Bomb - Sludge Bomb
IF
azumarill is poisoned THEN venoshock
IF P/E AND this sub wasn't played on the action prior THEN Chill

Of course it's still faster.. Welp.

Lily the Azumarill
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Substitute [25] -> Whirlpool -> Soak
IF Whirlpool misses, THEN push back

May not be the best thing to do, but oh well.

Allow me to help you out then.

Azumarill is minced by Roserade. But Lucario and Necturna certainly aren't. If you could ensure that Azumarill can be switched without I counterswitching, you could take a blow and then enjoy a much more favourable matchup. I think azumarill can do that and Roserade can't do the same iirc.

Any ideas on how to do it?

Perhaps it would be better if Necturna did the soaking. Since it receives considerably less damage. Then double protecting with azumarill. Although it is minor.

I don't usually recommend going with substitute when your match is based on switching. In the end if I end up switching, you will either sacrifice the substitute to keep the momentum or lose the momentum to sacrifice the substitute. In this situation, where your attacks aim merely to damage (and not to, say, knock off an item) I would just keep the attack on P/E to drain some En.

TBH I would consider staying and using that sub as a way to get in a soak and work from there.

But this option isn't bad per se. Assuming you can work well on your feet.

In all honesty I've no idea what to do other than hax. Better than endng up as set up bait next round. Hax work please.

Shadow Claw -> Shadow Claw -> Shadow Sneak [that 2 damage short of KO]

Yep, the regret is sinking in

To be honest I would consider using a combo to ensure a victory. In this particular case a burn would block the effectivity of a shadow sneak combo, so I would either take the risk (and lose in this round as you can see below) or try a safer combo.

Reasoning is simple: you will clean up with Lucario. Lucario holds his own well vs Roserade and has an advantage vs Snorlax (even although youa re lacking Low Kick), but is brutally mauled by Blaziken. To the point that getting rid of it (and saying yourself for facing up to 28.5hp of damage) pays off the free setup action I will have vs Necturna (where I would probably set up spikes for 12hp).

Needless to say, now you need to perform quite well with Lucario. Matchup-wise you have the upperhand. But this isn't ingame in the sense that one mon can clean up. In ASB even the best matchup advantage won't go that much further than one KO. Unless you not only have the matchup advantage but also play considerably better than your opponent (or are using geodudes -_-).

I was thinking you'd probably use Substitute or something if I did use a combo, but point taken.

Shadow Sneak x3
IF Blaziken uses Endure, THEN use Poison Fang+Poison Fang that action
IF Blaziken successfully uses a P/E move, THEN use Synthesis that action

Nice subs.

Also, while ingame substitute is very nifty, the actual benefits of using it in ASB are questionable at best. While the status protection is nice and all, you will notice within time that, on normal situations, the damage it blocks is negligible compared to you wasting an action and a crapload of energy with the sub. It has its uses yeah, but don't be inclined to roll with it whenever you have an opening. Make the calcs and see if it really pays off. Most of the time you will have a better move with a better output.

Lucario is sent out!

Iggy Azalea goes
etc

Ice Punch -> Blaze Kick -> Ice Punch
IF Roserade is about Sleep inducing move, AND you are faster, AND you do not have already have a Substitute, THEN use Substitute [15] that action
IF Roserade has any Double Team clones when you would act, THEN use Earthquake that action

Let's see how this turns out..

not much to say here. In the end this is purely a damage race. I'd only put on a sub for if Ice Punch freezes for 2a so blaze kick doesn't ruin your luck. But that is pretty minor.
