"One of the most important parts of ASB is match-up control. You can pull all the fancy tricks you want with Will-O-Wisp or Counter, but in general, it's hard to get ahead when you're at a match-up disadvantage like Infernape is in now. Because of this, your first priority should have been to change the match-up to something more favorable while still keeping Infernape healthy. Sure, you can initiate a switch-phase, but I can counter-switch and put you in a bad match-up all over again. That's why moves like U-Turn, Roar, and Fire Spin are so important. They allow you to secure a favorable match-up without letting your opponent counter-switch. A better course of action for Infernape would have been:

Will-O-Wisp | Fire Spin | Fake Out

It would allow you to cripple Poliwrath, secure a safe switch-in for Roserade, and keep Infernape at reasonably high HP and EN.

Now, whether you choose to switch or stay in, you're going to be at a bit of a disadvantage. Poliwrath may be burned, but it's definitely still a big threat to Infernape. But the battle is still far from over. The tides can turn as quickly as a blazing flame. Show me some ingenuity. Dazzle me with your brilliant fire!"​

"I feel like I need to switch out because like you said you may be burned but can still put some serious work on my Infernape and I believe it will be important to being able to damage/take care of Pangoro later if(most likely) I need to in my opinion. Now the real deal is how to get out of this hole I started to dig myself into. Either way I look at it now I am like you said, in an unfavorable position, but I can't make a hard switch into Roserade now because the free switch into Espeon is incoming. Also, because I didn't trap you on my previous actions I cannot go out into Roserade without sacrificing quite a bit to get there now but I can't lose Infernape this early on so I think this is my most optimal choice now."​

Even if my P/E move fails, it'd activate a 'IF Espeon uses P/E' sub, while 'IF Espeon is under P/E' only triggers if Espeon uses a successful P/E move. Otherwise, your subs good for keeping me from gaining too much of an advantage this round.

Also, Endure could have served you well this round. It prevents you from being KOed by direct damage for the rest of the round, and since my only means of indirect damage are Toxic (which can be subbed for) or Future Sight (which doesn't take effect until next round), you could've survived longer and done a lot more damage to Espeon."

"Fake Out and Icicle Crash were nice attempts to flinch-spam me. In a bad position, RNG spam can become your best friend. Knock Off was a bit of a wasted action, though. It did little damage to Pangoro, who 4x resists it, and Pangoro's item wasn't particularly useful, so overall, it would've been better to use Icicle Crash instead. Regardless, it looks like this battle is wrapping up!"
