okay, but you still SUCK - unfix

Previous thread by Illusio: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/balanced-hackmons-regigigas-qc-1-3.3550853/

I'll get this up soon.

  • Regigigas's attack and speed stats make Regigigas a competent attacker
  • Good natural bulk allows Regigigas to tank hits most other attackers wouldn't
  • Somewhat Imposter-proof, as Chansey won't get the boosted Facade or any recovery
  • Works well as both a tank and a late game cleaner, once things like Shedinja or Mega Rayquaza are out of the way
  • Normal typing is both a blessing and curse, as it gives great STAB in Facade, but a poor defensive typing, with no resistances
  • PH set has a hard time switching in to things, as a Knock Off or any status before it can get poisoned completely ruins Regigigas

[SET]
name: Poison Heal
move 1: Facade
move 2: Spore / Leech Seed
move 3: Shift Gear / Spiky Shield
move 4: Knock Off / Thousand Arrows / Sacred Fire
item: Toxic Orb
ability: Poison Heal
nature: Adamant
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Facade is a strong STAB 140 BP (after getting poisoned) move that allows Regigigas to hit most of the metagame pretty hard.
  • Spore should be used in the second slot, as Regigigas can shut down Fur Coat and other bulky walls, taking advantage of the sleep to hit its opponents with multiple Facades. Spore also helps to make Regigigas more Imposter-proof, as it can Spore the opposing Pokemon, but can't get Spored back due to poison.
  • Shift Gear doubles Regigigas's Speed, making it able to outspeed most of the meta, while also giving it an attack boost to make Facade even stronger.
  • Knock Off is able to 2HKO most Ghost-types such as Giratina and Aegislash, while also being a neutral attack on most Pokemon that resist Facade. Also, it can remove the items of Imposter Pokemon, while posing little threat to Regigigas himself once his Toxic Orb is activated
  • Thousand Arrows allows Regigigas to KO Steel- or Rock-type Pokemon that resist Facade, such as Mega Diancie or Mega Tyranitar. However, it doesn't do much to help Regigigas get past Ghost-types like Giratina.
  • Spiky Shield is also an option instead of Shift Gear to allow this set to take on a bulkier tank role. It can be used first turn to make sure that Regigigas will be poisoned, so that it can utilize Facade and Poison Heal. Spiky Shield can also be used to help scout movesets, block a suspected Fake Out or Extreme Speed, and give Regigigas a free turn of healing. Finally, it allows Regigigas to damage Endeavor Shedinja if Sacred Fire is not used.
  • Sacred Fire is also an option as a coverage move. Its 50% chance to burn allows it to shut down some physical attackers that would otherwise OHKO it, and also to sometimes beat Shedinja. On the other hand, if used on an Imposter Pokemon, it allows for them to get the Facade boost and possibly sweep you, unless you have a Ghost-type that doesn't mind Sacred Fire to wall it.
  • Leech Seed is another option over Spore that also gives Regigigas an advantage against Imposter opponents, and allows it to damage Shedinja. However, Spore also has some utility in those situations, and is generally more useful overall.

Set Details
========
  • With Poison Heal and a Toxic Orb, Regigigas can take advantage not only of a strong Facade but also 12% free recovery every turn
  • Speed isn't an important stat to invest EVs in because Regigigas already outspeeds almost everything at +2. Instead, EVs are dumped into HP to increase bulk.
  • An Adamant nature allows Regigigas to hit with more power, while the EVs increase Regigigas's overall bulk and ability to hit hard.

Usage Tips
========
  • You should never want to switch into Regigigas without making sure that it won't be statused in the turn before Toxic Orb activates (e.g. a slow baton pass, one of your pokemon faints, etc.) Facade will still receive a power boost regardless of which status Regigigas has, but the Poison Heal recovery from Toxic is invaluable
  • Those carrying Spiky Shield should use it first turn to ensure Toxic Orb activation.
  • After that, if you think that the opponent can OHKO you, then go for a Facade (or Knock Off it it's a Ghost type). Otherwise, if you don't think the opponent can OHKO you, then use Shift Gear, allowing Regigigas to sweep.
  • After setting up, proceed to use Facade on everything that doesn't resist it, and use Knock Off for the Ghost-types or Thousand Arrows for the Steel- or Rock-types. Sacred Fire is used to beat physical attackers who might OHKO Regigigas.
  • Sacred Fire and Thousand Arrows are non-contact moves and can be used to scout for King's Shield and damage Protean users of the move super effectively afterwards.

Team Options
========

  • Frailer offensive Pokemon work very well with Regigigas; especially fast Fighting-type and Ghost-type attackers, which appreciate Regigigas's ability to sponge status attacks (once it is poisoned) and break through bulkier walls, while they clear away Rock-, Steel-, and Ghost-type opponents. Examples include Mega Mewtwo X, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Mega Gengar.
  • This Pokemon works well with a Sturdy Shedinja counter, such as Mold Breaker Pursuit Giratina, if your set is unable to deal Shedinja.
  • Regigigas also works well when combined with entry hazard setters, such as Deoxys-Speed, as entry hazards are able to deal a fair amount of damage to bulky Pokemon that would normally be 2HKO'd by Regigigas. Entry hazards also allow Regigigas to beat Shedinja and other Sturdy / Focus Sash Pokemon.
  • Giratina in general is a great teammate for non-Knock Off versions, because if Chansey manages to KO Regigigas, then Giratina can wall its attacks.

Other Options
=============

  • Extreme Speed is a usable move if you find that you get constantly beaten by -ate spam.
  • Fake Out is another usable move that allows Regigigas to guarantee its Poison Orb activation first turn, and lets it grab free damage should it be switching in and out frequently.
  • King's Shield is another move that will help you beat -ate spam, but it also allows you to get hit by status.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fighting-type Moves**: Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y outspeed Regigigas and can hit it hard with a Fighting-type move, leaving Regigigas either OHKO'd or extremely weak. However, they must switch in before it boosts, or eat a very powerful Facade.

**Giratina**: Giratina is generally a safe check, provided Regigigas hasn't set up yet or doesn't carry Knock Off. Fur Coat versions have an easy time walling even boosted Regigigas with Knock Off, which doesn't even 2HKO 252 / 0 at +6. What's most important, however, is that the Giratina has a way to deal with Regigigas as opposed to just tanking hits; phazing moves are applicable in this case, as is Gastro Acid. Giratina also needs recovery should it try to win 1 v 1.

**Sturdy Shedinja**: Most Regigigas are unable to hit Sturdy Shedinja. However, as is with all uses of Sturdy Shedinja, it is absolutely imperative to scout the set first and make sure there are no surprises (such as Leech Seed or Sacred Fire).

**Fakespeed**: After taking a Fake Out and an Extreme Speed, Regigigas will have very little health left, allowing for an easy kill next turn. However, -ate Pokemon that use this strategy have to watch out for Spiky Shield and King's Shield, both of which will make this a futile strategy unless Regigigas is already severely weakened.

**Unaware Walls**: Regigigas is walled by Unaware Pokemon such as Cresselia, making Regigigas an open target, while only doing mild damage to the Unaware Pokemon.

Ok this is ready for QC!

I implemented as much of Piccolo Daimao and E4 Flint's QC checks as possible, and made some changes that I personally saw fit (such as removing BDrum Illusion entirely because that's actually a very bad set)

I'd like this to get at least one more QC check before I write it up.

Overview:
Perfect

Usage Tips:
  • After that, if you think that the opponent can OHKO you, then go for a Facade (or Knock Off it it's a Ghost type). Otherwise, if you don't think the opponent can OHKO you, then use Shift Gear, allowing Regigigas to sweep.
    I don't like this line, since if your opponent can OHKO you, you should switch out. Gigas isn't outspeeding much without any speed investment. You should only stay in and Facade if the opponent cannot OHKO, but it is too early for a Shift Gear Sweep. If the opponent only 2hkos, then you can Shift Gear or Spore.
  • Throw in a line about using Spore, even though you are protected from a Bounced back Spore, you still give an opponent a free switch in. Same thing with Safety Goggles Generally the better play is to Knock off to deal with possible Safety Goggles, then Spore to insure the opponent never gets a "free" move.
Team Options:
Good
Checks and Counter:
  • In the Fake Speed section its worth noting Naive LO Mega Ray can guarantee a Fakespeed revenge kill at 90%.
This is a great analysis, i think it just needs to be written form, then you can get into GP.
