Tournament BLT III: Week 1

Welcome to the first week of BLT III! This first stage of the tournament will feature seven weeks of each team playing one another once. A win in a week will result in a team receiving two points, a loss will result in zero points, and a draw in one. At the end of this stage, the top four teams with the most points will advance to the semi-finals. Matches will be played in standard ORAS tiers on the main PS! server.

Basic tournament rules (you absolutely should read these, especially if you're new to forum tournaments):

Required Reading

Sportsmanship: Don't be an ass. Not to your opponents, not to your team, not on PS, not on Smogon, not to me. The punishment could be as severe as a server ban (which is an instant loss for you), forum infraction, or disqualification. A bit of friendly banter is ok, but please know where to draw the line. Think before you type, please.

Scheduling and Activity Wins: Contact your opponent as quickly as possible on their Smogon wall, and look out for them on PS. You will have one week from the posting of the week's matches to get it done, and I will not be granting any extensions for any reasons. If your opponent is not responding to your post on their wall, cannot be found on PS, or miss multiple scheduled times, make a detailed activity post in the thread letting me know why you deserve the win. As long as you have visible attempts at scheduling (such as wall posts), you will be fine.

Disconnections and Timer: A timer loss is a loss. No if's, and's, or but's about it. If your opponent is nice enough to replay that's fine, but they are by no means obligated to.

Ghosting and Identity: Don't take or give battle advice or make moves based solely on the suggestions of others, and don't pretend to be someone else in order to play as them. You will be caught, and you will be disqualified from this season as well as future PS! tournaments (BLT, PSPL, etc.).

Substitutions: Managers are free to substitute out inactive players at any point during the week with any subs they chose during the draft. Be sure to post in the thread when making a substitution.

Didn't quite finish these before the tour started but who gives a shit this is too integral not to finish off. Today we have the Hydreigons, so far most notable for the cringeworthy "hey look we r gud" posts that were the precursor to the old thread being locked in the first place. They're certainly not the worst team despite having the worst mascot type matchups in the entire tournament (seriously why so many random fairies) but their missing top two is fairly close and obviously either way they've already cemented themselves as top 1 team in spirit.

Manager+Assman: Eyan owns competitive tutoring, which is going to be really useful for the few random players they were forced to take on board. Unfortunately, training in the mountains is supposed to take a little longer than a week and a half so they shouldn't be magically transformed any time soon. Winry probably won't have to do shit unless Eyan goes awol but still an excellent choice of person who exists to fulfill the function of existing.

Ubers: mj20 - should probably suffice as someone who can put up a fight when not facing some established player but starting off your lineup with numbers is not a good sign.

OU: Euli94 aka Euli97 - This number split implies that he's top 3, so I don't really expect anything less than that. Only someone with a high amount of skill and potential can bargain his way three up the chain.

OU: Pradhaaan - sorry don't know you

UU: Adaam. - Another dude who started out as random tours fanboy 200 and worked his way up to being a completely respectable established player, he now has to go back and give some beatings to basically younger versions of himself. Oh yeah and pak and reuni so some cool games but this is really his moment to prove how far he's come in order to beat up randoms

RU: Arifeen - Best at everything as long as it doesn't require other people to hear his voice

NU: Trade - This man's already put in a ton of effort to become the worst poster, and unfortunately he's still in contention with Parivard but should be able to win out with a few more ;D's. Regardless of skill you probably either want him to lose or just don't care since the old thread being locked has repressed your memories

PU: blinkboy - sorry, don't know you. probably not great if this man is really supposed to carry PU, but Arifeen only steals from the best so something might happen

LC: Dream Eater Gengar -
On this day a millennium ago, the second Holy BLT war begun. Earth had never seen such massacre between tribes happening before, fainted Pokemon on the field, tired trainers everywhere, the whole world was astonished by such battles that could be found everywhere, in the city or in the desert. The tribes only wanted to win to obtain the Golden Cup, an object that is able to give its tribe recognition, wealth, and a wish. Old books tells the story of these wars and testify that the winners were the Fletchinder Eterna, that lived in glory until the last member of their tribe died. As written, their wish was gaining secret techniques from the ancient times. The Golden Cup granted them access to Hidden Flames which illuminate the arena with harsh sunlight when cast. Today, we are witnessing the same event repeating itself, it is said that the Golden Cup has been resurrected by the Heavens. Eight tribes all over the world has qualified for the death battles that this world will see again. Their starting point varies and have to explore fields to meet with other tribes. I will be in charge of writing this year's book to tell the chaos that will reign over us.

Starting from Mt. Everest, Snowpoint Snovers, the tribe that lives in the snow. Members can endure low temperatures, and have been qualified of being strong. They have defeated many tribes before staining the snow with a red liquid that will never fade. It is believed that said liquid is the source of more power, as they make potion with it to keep their blood boiling making them resist better the cold. They have advantage in cold and obscure arenas, yet suffer from fields that are hot, and enlightened. The members seek the Golden Cup for Eternal Snow, which will make earth covered in Snow until the next Holy BLT.

Opposite to the Snowpoint Snovers, Ecruteak Elekids starts from the desert. The tribe has been rumored of being formed by Helios, God of the Sun, which wants to fulfill his desire through them. The flame that boils their blood, and the snowflake that chills their soul are what characterize them. Helios has given them enough power to dominate this Holy BLT but they have to make his wish come true. Despite being gifted by a God, their weakness reside in snowy weathers as it is break the balance in their body. The members seek the Golden Cup to fulfill Helios's wish, Eternal Sun, which will make elevated temperature reign on earth and the sun stronger than ever. This makes Snowpoints Snovers and Ecruteak Elekids enemies, when they meet it will be a good battle.

From the farms start Dendemille Dedennes. From the outside the tribe looks innocent and harmless, but don't let looks deceive you. Members, like to watch out for other Pokemon and help and protect them which makes their bonds stronger. But to be able to do so, they were blessed by the ability of a Pokemon of their choice, they can manipulate the field for their own advantage. They dislike using Pokemon as tools of battles, thus their objective for the Holy BLT. They didn't enter this huge massacre tournament before getting approval of the Pokemon they have raised, and have promised to never use Pokemon in battles after this tournament. If they win the Golden Cup, they will use their wish to protect all the Pokemon and plant peace everywhere to stop the usage of Pokemon as fighting tools.

From the mystical land of dragons, there hailed a warrior by the name of Gengar, renowned for his dream eating skills. In fact, he was so skilled at the consumption of the dreams of others, he had become grotesque in his ethereal form, only capable of being judged in fanfiction by critics who would otherwise suffer the fate of glimpsing his true paranormal form and having their minds broken twixt his ghastly specter. Nevertheless, he was also known as a skilled and cunning player of the little cups, a format so comparatively unfounded that he was prophesied to achieve great feats with the only heroes with potential being the far more skilled but infinitely less successful Majaspic, and the unsung king of failed memes and rejected shitposters PD. Gengar shalt walk the land, where the people fear his skills at spinning horrid fanfiction out of interesting scenarios and potentially stealing victory under the sleeping noses of his foes.

DOU: Shinysopheon - One of the few people who consistently brings mediocre teams but legitimately just plays the game well enough in comparison to pick up wins. Might need to start grabbing some better stuff but probably won't matter in the long run vs notestablishedplayer1234

Snovers vs Mawiles

RU: TraceofLife vs. MegCham - One is avid RU player and the other have been using some swank trick room team with bronzong and aromatisse so I think this option is pretty clear. Im afraid he will just bring mega steelix even tho it is banned.
NU: Jarii vs. HuntressWizzard - This man actually fucking drafted himself! LOL, if this isnt a bold move and shows this man want to play and win, idk what it is. He has big tournament experience as well so him losing would be quite the upset
PU: SpecsMegaBeedrill vs. Megazard - easiest win of SpecsMegaBeedrill life tbh, but if that fails in any case you can always complain about hax and everything you want to. Here is a perfect example.

Dedennes vs Hydreigons

RU: soTsoT vs. Ari (Arifeen) - If this guy doesnt sack his wincon t1 Im pretty confident he can win. soTsoT aint bad but Arifeen is better when he doesnt go through a stroke, make a misplay and blames the opponent for it.

PU: sanjay (Sanjay.) vs. blinkboy - Who ever brings Machoke wins, I will tell you that much. If both bring machoke, whoever wins the speed tie wins the game. Speed creeping is everything so bring your goddamn max speed machokes.

RU: Lord Booty Milk vs. naruto(sage) - Idk how someone with such a Godly name could lost to this guy that had gurdurr as his flying resist. Unfortunate.
NU: Urfgurgle vs. Karolynia (Karalynia) - This name is cooler. How do you come up with a name of that caliber? Blurpgurgle would have been better.
PU: Dundies vs. Uwoodz (Uwoodz03) - Already happened. Life gives us tough lessons so Uwoodz can take this as a very good one, the first tourney match is always the hardest one. Dundles custom avatar picks are getting progressively better, maybe he will actually keep this one.

Elekids vs Clefables

RU: Chill Shadow vs. samjo - Great player honestly, would be a shocker given that his builds are great and consistent. The only issue is that to this day he still uses physical houndoom but nobody is perfect.
NU: Laxus (Lax) vs. AV99 - When he doesnt forget basic game mechanics, he is a great player. Elekids NU place is safe with him honestly. The opponent should had brought water resists anyways, I heard those are important.
PU: IvoPost vs. Jeran (Akashi) - I really dont know but much I can tell this Jeran guy is so exceedingly lucky that you may predict against him every week. It it is how it is.

RU: soTsoT vs. Ari (Arifeen) sotsot is never someone to be taken lightly as he went undefeated last year, but arifeen's teams are somewhat decent.
NU: Villa vs. Trade faced trade before, Pretty solid player.
PU: sanjay (Sanjay.) vs. blinkboy is Sanjay good? Don't really know any of the players, but I think I got bigboy's description mixed up with BlinkBoy because BlinkBoy is who I think I saw on lc ladder, but whatevs
LC: kushal00 vs. Dream Eater Gengar DEG has been around longer + haxed all LC players last blt so who's to say that won't happen again.

This will be a very interesting match to look forward to but I'm leaning towards Soph as she/he has been more active lately and has kept up to par with her battling.

OU 2: ezeymoney (Mthw) vs. OminousDraco heard the guy was jrdn's brother, but OminousDraco has put in work as well so this battle could go either way.

Haven't seen either players play at all, but I know Aruban is somewhat relative.
RU: Chill Shadow vs. samjo My dude from HFC has proved his worth, but Samjo May hax him to the dirt so you never know.
NU: Laxus (Lax) vs. AV99 apparently Lax already won.
PU: IvoPost vs. Jeran (Akashi) both victims of mine during RU ssnl, but Jeran will probably take this win and prove his high and mightiness among Dundies and Megazard.
LC: MMM (Brokengoth) vs. parivard MMM is apparently supposed to be "good", but parivard has some nice teams from other players so this could be interesting to see.
