Summary of thread
: Ever faced a powerful team that sent you looking for a brick wall to bang your head against or spent the day just wondering how you lost so hard. These teams can define metas yet everyone knows those moments don't last forever and sooner or later the teams flaws will be exposed for the world to see and a group of Pokemon will emerge to break it. The purpose of this thread is to find said weaknesses and create cores that can break the teams of infamy because deep down Everyone knows no team is truly invincible.

This project aims to look and see how certain mons that work together to exploit said weakness, in other words a core that can break/destroy a team. This can help fine tune teams in order to prevent them from getting destroyed by a simple core. Anyway without further ado, here are the rules.

Rules:
1. Each week I will pick a team and during the submission period, everyone can talk about what cores they think breaks a team and submit a core that they think is the most threatening to that team. In other words, what core they think destroys the selected team and why?

2. Cores can have 2 or 3 mons, and sets as well as at least 2 lines of explanation will be required as to how that core destroys the team for that week. You can also talk about the weaknesses of the team being broken if you wish. In addition, all Pokemon nominated must be on the viability list or have "extremely" well known niches. Anybody who posts crap like Special Machoke will have their posts deleted. Also no Shedinja thanks.

3. After the submission period has passed, everyone will vote on the core that they believe is the most threatening to the team. Each person will be allowed 1 vote. You can also use the voting period to submit ideas on a team you would like to see broken next. You cannot vote for yourself.

4. The winner of each round will be placed in the Hall of Fame!!

5. Good luck, have fun, and most importantly no one liners. n_n

6. If you don't post movesets your nomination will not be counted!

serving gorebyss + ludicolo

Gorebyss + Ludicolo Rain
Gorebyss @ White Herb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Rain Dance
- Giga Drain

basically, dibs team kinda falters against water-types with Ice and Grass coverage. because the main water checks are both really crippled by Grass-type moves (gastro + poli) and mons like skunk and mag do not want to take a rain boosted hydro pump. Ice Beam demolishes sensu so that's always good. The matchup pretty much relies on some 50/50's on dibs side to prevent a clean sweep, just weaing down the rain. Another scary thing about the core is that gorebyss can freely set up on poliwrath, sleeping bronzor, and in most cases, skuntank, and proceed to clean house due to the lack of speed/priority. if rocks are up the game is over depending on 50/50s

gastrodon:
+2 252+ SpA Gorebyss Hidden Power Grass vs. 216 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 616-728 (147.7 - 174.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 252+ SpA Gorebyss Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Eviolite Bronzor in Rain: 348-411 (109.4 - 129.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Pyroar @ Life Orb
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Taunt
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Hyper Voice

Clefairy @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Knock Off

The Normal resist on this team is Bronzor which is hit super effectively by Fire Blast. Gastrodon is hit 4x super effectively by HP Grass and is nearly OHKO'd after rocks. Poliwrath is really the only threat to Pyroar so I paired it with Clefairy who is a great Poliwrath switch in that is able to get rocks that grabs important KO's and it can also wear down Skuntank pretty well since Acid Spray doesnt do much before the drop. Clefairy can also take on Magmortar pretty well which can live at least one hit from Pyroar.

  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Oricorio-Electric: 277-328 (78.4 - 92.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Hidden Power Grass vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 354-421 (83 - 98.8%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 144 SpD Eviolite Bronzor: 268-320 (84.2 - 100.6%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Magmortar: 177-211 (60.8 - 72.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 108 SpD Skuntank: 265-312 (76.3 - 89.9%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • 252 SpA Life Orb Pyroar Hyper Voice vs. 120 HP / 0 SpD Poliwrath: 185-218 (52.7 - 62.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Reupload! Apologies, I just found something that works better.

Articuno @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Hurricane
- Freeze-Dry
- Roost

Skuntank @ Black Glasses
Ability: Aftermath
EVs: 252 Atk / 148 SpD / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Pursuit
- Sucker Punch
- Poison Jab

Many cores are broken apart by Freeze-Dry hitting Waters super effectively, and this is no different. Articuno being able to outspeed the entire team (albeit a slow one) is also very helpful. The only thing on the team that isn't immediately threatened by the Ice Bird is Bronzor, which leads us to the second member of the core, Skuntank.

Skuntank outright counters Bronzor, the biggest threat to Articuno. By preventing rocks, Skuntank allows Articuno to wreck havoc much more easily. While Taunt may sound unconventional, it prevents any part of the defensive core from recovering. The EV spread lets it avoid the OHKO from Magmortar's All-Out Pummeling. Articuno also helps it in return by being able to take on Gastrodon.

Articuno's matchups:

252 SpA Life Orb Articuno Ice Beam vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Oricorio-Electric: 416-491 (117.8 - 139%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Articuno Freeze-Dry vs. 216 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 567-671 (135.9 - 160.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Life Orb Articuno Hurricane vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Magmortar: 199-234 (68.3 - 80.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 SpA Life Orb Articuno Ice Beam vs. 0 HP / 149 SpD Skuntank: 187-222 (53.8 - 63.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Articuno Hurricane vs. 136 HP / 0 SpD Poliwrath: 413-486 (116.3 - 136.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Skuntank's matchups:

252+ Atk Black Glasses Skuntank Pursuit vs. 252 HP / 112+ Def Eviolite Bronzor: 168-200 (52.8 - 62.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Skuntank Poison Jab vs. 248 HP / 228 Def Oricorio-Electric: 117-138 (33.1 - 39%) -- 99.9% chance to 3HKO

252+ Atk Black Glasses Skuntank Sucker Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Magmortar: 166-196 (57 - 67.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Skuntank Poison Jab vs. 120 HP / 0 Def Poliwrath: 120-142 (34.1 - 40.4%) -- 51.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

By almost a unanimous vote, Taskr wins! Congrats bud n_n

This week we have a neat balance team donated by the one and only amber lamps , which features some interesting choices such as AOA Komala and Grassium-Z Lilligant. Gluck all with trying to break this one!

Magmortar @ Life Orb
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Grass]

Abomasnow @ Grassium Z
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ice Shard
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake

The only real answers that the team has for Magmortar is its hazards and dodging a Fire Blast or Focus Blast. It can easily OHKO Lilligant, Oricorio, and Qwilfish with its coverage moves. Magmortar can easily 1v1 Lilligant since it has no coverage to hit it and cannot even put it to Sleep, while Qwilfish is outsped and Oricorio can only do about half to it. It also has the ability to OHKO Komala after rocks, do about 75% to Sableye and Mesprit.

Abomasnow really just joins the core in order to clean up the mess. Ice Shard cleans up the mess really, 2hkoing both Lilligant and Oricorio. Z Wood Hammer allows it to OHKO Komala. It can also get a free SD against Qwilfish since it cannot damage it. Sableye is a bit difficult to manage, but since it is specially defensive, Z Wood Hammer can still do a chunk, even when burned.

Specs Drampa + Scarf Ape

Drampa gets in for free against Sab, Qwil, Pom-Pom and Lili and drops a Draco. Primeape can spam U-Turn on all of the teams checks to get in for free.

Angry Pig and Sleepy Fetus

Primeape @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Gunk Shot
- U-turn
- Stone Edge

Musharna @ Fairium Z
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psyshock
- Moonlight

Musharna is something that pressures this team IMMENSELY, as nothing really beats it in a 1v1. In fact, the only efficient way the team gets around it is wearing it down with T-Spikes. Both Taunt users lose to Psyshock + Dazzling Gleam, and after two or three calm minds Mush becomes unkillable by anything on this team and the game is pretty much over.

Primeape revenges whatever Musharna didn't already beat.

Absol @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Play Rough
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch

Togedemaru @ Safety Goggles
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Zing Zap
- Wish
- Spiky Shield
- U-turn

Having no Dark resist means that Absol can click Knock Off freely and with rocks up pretty much get a kill every time. The things that can live a Knock like Colbur Mesprit and Qwilfish are beaten by Togedemaru and I've even added Safety Goggles because Lilligant is able to outspeed Absol and use Sleep Powder.

I have updated the OP with a sixth rule, please read it and take it into consideration when posting. Your posts will be linked during voting and if you win, so it'd be a lot more helpful as a resource tool if sets are provided, thanks!
