Hey guys and welcome to possibly my last RMT thread for a while. Me leaving has nothing to do with this place but my grades are dropping and it looks like spending too much time on my computer is the problem. Since pokemon is a large reason why I get on the computer a lot I think its time to quit. So I present to you my last team...

Ok so this is a team I made with the help of TAY. I was having trouble making a team and I just wanted to ask somebody for help since I haven't really haven't abused any platinum changes as of yet. TAY gladly helped and this is the team that we made ^_^. It has gotten me to a rating of over 1500. I'm pretty happy with that since it is the first team that has gotten me this high (yeah I suck lol. I usually make it to the upper 1300's or 1400s).

At a glance

I bet you can guess a few sets just from looking at the pokes? Well you may be able to get an idea or two but I doubt you will get the ENTIRE set right.

Synergy

My basic strategy with this team is to utilize spikes and SR to their fullest potential. Whether it is causing switches or just forcing out my opponent with shear attacking force.

As you can see the types are very well covered

Ok now lets get in-depth

In-Depth

Deoxys-S[Usain Bolt] @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EV's: 252 HP / 140 Def / 88 Spd / 28 SDef
Careful Nature(+SDef, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Recover

Deoxys-S leads off the army in a dominant fashion. Outspeeding every lead except other Deoxys-S (see EV spread). Deoxys-S is very important to my overall strategy since it sets up the spikes and stealth rock. Taunts MixPert, Hippowdon and suicide leads. This guy enjoys those suicide leads too. They are basically set up bait for me. Once they can't taunt or use SR they have no choice but to go suicide or just switch out. With three layers of spikes and SR set up. My opponent will take 12 to 50% of their health.

The weird thing about this set is the EV spread... why so bulky? Well I wanna be able to get up everything instead of settling for just SR. So a bulky spread was mandatory. The careful nature helps it take hits better also. Recover works really well with this bulky spread as it allows me to continually recover health until I have enough to set up some more. While doing this many people forget that pressure will build up.

The moveset is pretty self explanatory. Sets up spikes, SR and taunts stuff. Recover is for recovery of course.

Deoxys is named Usain Bolt because he is extremely fast...duh.

----------

Lucario (M) [Bruce Lee] @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EV's: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature(+Spd, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Bullet Punch
- Ice Punch

Lucario starts the physical assault on my team. A somewhat weird set but this guy has swept many teams with ease and is has accounted for over half my victories. I prefer this guy to SpecsLuke. I understand that SpecsLuke is making a comeback ect. but I enjoy this luke better since it still adds a somewhat surprise factor to my team but it has more sweeping ability imo since it doesn't have to switch out whenever my opponent sends in a pokemon that resist the choiced move.

EV's are pretty standard here the thing about this set is the nature. I ran a jolly nature>adamant because
  • I outspeed other Lucario that want all power.
  • I outspeed Salamence
  • I outspeed Gliscor running 280 spd.
All are OHKOd after a SD of course.

Then the attacking moves... ok Close Combat is NEEDED on lucario lol. Bullet Punch is for Mismagius and Gengar thinking they can switch in only fearing crunch but they outspeed me and can KO right? WRONG after a SD they are OHKOd by Bullet Punch. Ice Punch OHKO's Salamence and Gliscor easily with SR.

If you don't know why Lucario is named bruce lee well... HE OWNZ HARD. XD.

Gyarados (M) [Muhammad Ali] @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EV's: 156 HP / 108 Atk / 100 Def / 144 Spd
Adamant Nature(+Atk ,-SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Stone Edge
- Waterfall

Even in a world with such a powerful grass type like Skymin, Gyarados remains one of the most feared pokes in the game. Running through teams with ease even when they have "counters" is not an easy task. Well I was talking about the LO set which I am clearly not running =P. BulkyDos may seem outdated but with Lucario and Scizor running about I found it to be almost necessary. It also covers Lucario's weaknesses nicely.

Pretty standard EV's for Bulky Dos. I may just add the attack EV's in HP since they really have no effect on the amount of damage he does. WHAT IS 4 POINTS DOING? With intimidate this guy is extremely bulky.

Ok so DD, Taunt and Attack. Speed issues make it hard but since he is bulky he can do it xD.

Named after Muhammad Ali because he "Floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee". Well if you don't get that logic lets look at the facts.
Gyarados adds a ground immunity hence floats like a butterfly. Once it finds an open area it stings like a bee.

Gave it new spread thanks to Legacy Raider and for RaikouLover for making the spread.

----------

Rotom-H [MC Hammer] @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EV's: 252 HP / 248 Def / 8 Spd
Bold Nature(+Def, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Will o Wisp
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball

Rotom is the only true wall on this team. He also provides anti-spin support. I like this form for his ability to counter Scizor XD. It also makes a extremely good Metagross counter. He also beats all the common spinners like Starmie. Both stab moves dispose of it.

EV's are for bulkiness.

Moveset is self explanatory for what I want it to do.

Named after MC hammer because of the immunities he brings.

----------

Porygon2 [Average Joe] @ Leftovers
Ability: Trace
EV's: 252 HP / 120 Def / 40 SAtk / 96SDef
Modest Nature(+SAtk, -Atk)
- Discharge
- Thunder Wave
- Ice Beam
- Recover

Almost finished. Ok porygon2 is a pretty unique pokemon. Being able to switch into every Eveelution and Heatran, Gyarados and Salamence is nothing to laugh at. Sadly Platinum didn't really give him anything

The EV's provide lots of bulk for him. Recover lets him take even more hits.

Ok so he has the pseudo bolt beam combo there. T-Wave makes things slow for my last sweeper. Discharge also can spread some paralysis around. Recover is for recovery.

He is named average joe because he is normal and I couldn't think of anything better lol.

Gave it new spread. Thanks to Legacy Raider.

----------

Jirachi [Superstar] @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EV's: 252 HP / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature(+Spd, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Jirachi is my late game sweeper. Not much else to say =P.

Nice team, but then again yours usually are. I can't see any obvious problems, but I have some alternative suggestions for EV spreads for some of your pokes.

--Porygon2--
I recommend running Bold with 252HP, 120 Def, 40 SpA, 96 SpD. I have spent a long, long time perfecting this spread for P2, and I find it is an excellent one to use in this metagame.
It is a perfect counter for any physical Salamence and any Gyarados.
Firstly, Salamence. When Salamence is sent out, switch immediately to this thing. Trace will Intimidate Salamence. Now one of two things could have happened while you switched:

a) It used Outrage straightaway. A -1 Atk (Intimidated) Life Orb Outrage does 45 - 52.9% to this Porygon2, and so you will easily survive two hits with Leftovers. This set also has enough SpA to OHKO with Ice Beam, or you can recover stall till it gets confused and has to switch out.

b) It used Dragon Dance. Now once you have switched in, it uses Outrage. A neutral (+1 DD -1 Intimidate) Life Orb Outrage does 67 - 79%, which you can survive and OHKO back with Ice Beam. You can see that this Porygon2 cannot lose to Salamence without hax, or it is running Draco Meteor.

Now for Gyarados:

a) -1 Atk Life Orb Gyarados using Waterfall - 28-34%.

b) Neutral Atk Life Orb Gyarados Waterfall - 42-50%

If you run Thunderbolt over Discharge, with this spread you are guaranteed to a minimum of 90% to 4HP Gyarados, so once Life Orb Gyarados has attacked it is OHKOed. You already have Thunder Wave, so consider dropping Discahrge for Thunderbolt.

Enjoy this spread, I spent ages perfecting it!

--Gyarados--

Bulky Gyarados Debate

I recommend you use the 3rd EV spread (156HP, 108Atk, 100Def, 144Spe)

It retains excellent bulkiness and can be a potent threat after a DD. After a DD, the spread you are using is still weaker than a standard Life Orb Gyarados. It cannot OHKO Azelf after a DD with Waterfall. This spread, however, can do a lot more damage off the bat, and so can put that bulkiness to some use.

Hope I helped.

Any reason why you don't use sash on Deoxys? It will guaranteed stealth rock and 1 layer of spikes against leads that can KO you right away(not Tyranitar obviously).

.
Firstly, Salamence. When Salamence is sent out, switch immediately to this thing.
Err... that wouldn't be so wise unless you know for sure that it's a Dragon Dancer. If that Salamence is choice banded then you won't have your Porygon-2 for much longer.

The Deoxys-S is mean't to be bulky hence why I didn't give it sash.

Zapdos has been a pain but Porygon2 handles it fine once I get it paralyzed.

Remember to change your P2's nature to Bold. Otherwise the damage calcs that I've given won't be true. Modest is unecessary since P2 can still OHKO Salamence and do 90% to Gyarados, and Bold is needed to be able to survive 2 Life Orb Outrages.

Hey Legacy Raider, I don't mean to doubt your Ev spread or something but are those 40SpA Evs necessary on a team with the fastest stealth rocker in the game and a rapid spin blocker?

b) Neutral Atk Life Orb Gyarados Waterfall - 42-50%

Seeing that calculation really makes me wonder what will happen if you switch in to stealth rock and then you get flinched by waterfall.

Darklord, the only way Gyarados will have neutral attack is if it Dragon Dances on the switch. Otherwise you will intimidate it and it will have -1 attack. The max damage it can do with a -1 Waterfall is 34%. The only way Gyarados can beat you is if it Dragon Dances on the switch and then flinches you twice when you switch in on Stealth Rock. There's only a 4% chance of two subsequent flinches, whereas there is a 6.25% chance of a crit.
But that's like saying Vaporeon can't be an Infernape counter in case it crits with Close Combat or Grass Knot.

You can check the site, my EV spread is now there as the Platinum standard.

Now I know this is the right spread lol.

Comon guys I know you can do better than this :pirate:. I know for a fact this team isn't perfect. I'm Tyranitar weak... any suggestions? Plz don't make my last RMT thread a waste... I worked very long and hard on this team.

Burst, I've been using your team on ladder (hehe), and it's been performing admirably. If anything, I would recommend you remove Jirachi and replace it with something that can take on the threat of Zapdos and Skymin. Both of them are trouble pokes for this team. But I can't think of anything that can take hits from both of them and threaten them. I was thinking maybe Bliss... but meh.
Weavile is another option, but again it doesn't really fit into the rest of the team too well.

k thats nice to know =]

EDIT: I'm considering a ScarfTrickMetagross somewher in this team. That way it beats Skymin and Gengar.
