Other Metagames Cancer McAids - Stall (Monotype)

This RMT on display is my very first, and showcases 6 water Pokemon on one cancerous team. This is a different variation of the gen 6 stall as it has a more sustainable Mantine and a thick fat Azumarill instead of the sap sipper Azu used in most water stall teams. Although it has made me a few more threats than i'd have liked. The team abuses regen to wear down the opposition little by little.

Note: This team was made to compete vs Mega Metagross and Hoopa-U, with both them gone the team may evolve as the meta goes on.

EXTRA NOTE: A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE POINTING OUT IT ISN'T SAP SIPPER AZU EVEN THOUGH THEY CAN JUST READ. THE REASON IT'S NOT SAP SIPPER AZUMARILL IS BECAUSE I AM SPECIFICALLY BUILDING THIS TEAM AROUND PERISH TRAP AZUMARILL IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE IT VIABLE WITH THE RIGHT SUPPORT. I HAVE POINTED OUT THAT YOU CAN USE SAP SIPPER AZUMARILL OVER THIS SET IF YOU'D LIKE TO USE THE MORE COMMON WATER STALL TEAMS. PLEASE DO NOT KEEP MESSAGING ME SAYING 'IS THAT A MISTAKE'

Although ladder results in the Monotype tier are hugely based on luck of the draw, i feel obliged to post this anyway. This is my ladder score as of right now, I ladder for a day and a half editing my team accordingly to make it the best it can be. My peak in the short time i played on this account was just lower than 1600.

Azubola (Azumarill) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 122 Def / 134 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Whirlpool
- Perish Song
- Protect
- Toxic

The reason this team was first made was because I wanted to make a viable team around perish trap Azumarill. With Azumarills decent bulk and defensive typing its a good switch in to a diverse range of attacks such as water/fire/ice/bug/dark/fighting as well as giving the team an immunity to dragon. The role I use Azumarill on the team for is to lead and trap the teams hazard setter early game so that hazards will no longer be an issue for me. In many other stall teams I've used, a common weakness has been to hazard stack balance teams. Azumarill is also used to trap and kill Pokemon that are usually hard for stall teams to wear down and kill such as; Chansey, Clefable, Ferrothorn, Hippowdon etc. It carries toxic for Pokemon that cant be trapped like ghost and flying types. The Perish trap set is also used for forcing out set up Pokemon and for killing hard hitting sweepers. It is obvious that sap sipper would benefit more against different match ups such as grass and fairy so you can also use that instead of this set and it would be just as viable.

252 SpA Choice Specs Hoopa-Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 130+ SpD Azumarill: 113-133 (27.9 - 32.9%) -- 83.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Mantine @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Roost
- Defog
- Air Slash

As the hazard remover of the team, Mantine's role involves defogging away all hazards once Azu has done its job. Mantine also does well vs grass Pokemon which really helps combat Mega Venusaur. The flying type also gives this team another immunity, this time to ground meaning that choiced Pokemon will have to think twice before clicking EQ vs this team. Although Water Absorb seems pretty pointless on a stall water team, it allows Mantine to wall set up Pokemon with only one attacking move such as some sets from Mega Slowbro and Regular Gyarados. Once Hazards are removed from the field this supports Toxic Spike chip damage and forcing the opposition to continuously defog or spin.

Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- Scald
- Heal Bell

Yet another immunity in this team, Lanturn allows this team to overcome Pokemon like Tapu Koko, Magearna, Zapdos (no sub). This also packs Volt Switch for momentum in the re-generator core this team has. Lanturn is probably the most important support Pokemon on the team as Heal Bell allows my other Pokemon to have a higher sustain. This Pokemons ability to take special hits very well allows me to pair this Pokemon up with Alomomola very well. Alternatively The Excadrill mentioned protect would be beneficial to run on Lanturn to support the Toxic Spikes sweep.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature

- Earthquake
- Scald
- Toxic

Another Pokemon and another immunity, once again to electric. Quag is mainly used to abuse his ability, With the ability Unaware Quagsire can 1v1 pretty much every physical set up Pokemon that isn't a grass type. This includes huge threats like; Tyranitar, Garchomp, Mega Metagross, Dragonite, Bisharp, Landorus-Therian etc. Quag uses both physical and special moves in its set as it will be used to fish for burns as well as killing hitting harder with EQ. Toxic is used to put set up mons on a timer or to punish any Pokemon that is switched in on this.

Toxapex @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Recover
- Scald
- Haze

Finally we have hit the Regen core. Toxapex is used to support the team in so many ways. Its poison typing means it gives my team a toxic immunity as well as having access to toxic spikes. Toxic Spikes cause a lot of built up chip damage or force the defog/spin which allows me to heal bell or wish pass to get my team healthy. The Pokemons access to Recover allows Toxapex to stay in on a team for a while either setting up Toxic Spikes or fishing for scald burns. With Haze also in Toxapex' movepool it can be an answer to pretty much all special attacking set up Pokemon as well as some physical set up mons.

Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 116 HP / 218 Def / 176 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Mirror Coat
- Scald
- Wish
- Protect

Last but not least my favourite Pokemon on the team. Alomomola has amazing HP and Defence allowing it to eat up lots of hits from physical attackers and burning with scald, PP stalling with protect or killing special attackers with mirror coat. This EV spread allows it to take on special Pokemon better such as; Latios, Magearna, Rotom and many others special attacking Pokemon. Alomomola and Toxapex work amazingly well together to form a regen core that is quite hard to break with a lot of types. This set could also be run with max defence and max hp with knock off or toxic over mirror coat.

Electric Types
Although this team has conquered a fair few electric teams. It is still a bad match up and a Pokemon like Xurkitree that can learn both energy ball and thunderbolt will easily tear through stall water.

Grass Types
Grass is a little easier to conquer than Electric even without an immunity to it. Although that is the case. if you run into a team with Tapu Bulu on you're in for a bad time. Banded Tapu Bulu will run through your team if you don't toxic or burn it early on.

Mixed Lando
Mixed set Landorus-I with both Earth Power and Rock Slide really does damage to your team, much like Bulu you will want to toxic or burn it early on.

Taunt & Mold Breaker
Set up Pokemon with Mold Breaker or Taunt are extremely hard to beat. The few times i have won vs this sort of team was bluffing the offensive Azu and then going for Perish Song.

Mega Metagross & Hoopa-U Psychic
Stallbreaker Poison
Perish Trap Rage
Magearna & Tapu Koko Fairy

Hey Wando, cool team!
Change Toxic to Protect- Since Toxapex has Toxic Spikes and Quagsire has Toxic, Lanturn can use the slot for helping stall out the other methods of poisoning with protect spam. Generally stall loves spamming protect and in monotype its no different.

Toxapex can also exchange Toxic Spikes for Baneful Bunker as another form of protect but having the layer of Toxic Spikes does help spread toxic around easier. Unfortunately Sap Sipper and Azumarill's whirlpool is incompatible.

Other than that the team looks cool. Hope my rates helped! :]
