WIP

Plesioar

Pronounced: Ple-SEE-OR

It's just plesiosaur + oar. I know a lot of people are going with viking references, but I liked the simplicity of this name personally =)

WIP

Nautiscull
or Nautiskull

Pronounced: Naw-tuh-skull

Combination of "nautical" which has to do with navigation and water and "sculling" which is rowing. I can't decide between "scull" or "skull" at the end because "scull" is more true to its origin, but "skull" gives it a more grave appearance.

Admirhull
(Admiral + Hull)

Pronounced: AD-mer-uhl

Admiral is a high-ranking naval official, while hull is part of a ship, which this CAP is. Mostly just a corruption in the word admiral as they're pronounced the same.

Skaldrake

Skald+Drake. Skalds were Scandinavian poets who recounted tales of heroes and mythological figures. Also sounds like scald lol. Drake is another word for dragon.

Pronounced: sKAWL-drayk

Vikeraid

Viking+raid. Viking and raid.

Pronounced: VAI-kuh-reyd

WIP

Longkull

From longship (boat of choice of the vikings) and either hull (of a ship) or cull (to select, like how we choose between DD and CM; alternatively, it means to kill part of a herd, which we do when we sweep/clean)

Final Submission

Drakarr

Dragon+Drekkar(a type of longship)

Pronounced: dra-KAR

Drekkar were large raiding longships with ornamental carvings like dragons and snakes

Fafnjord

Pronounced: FAF-NEE-HOARD

From Fafnir (a figure in Norse mythology who is transformed in a dragon) and Njord, a Norse god of the sea, sailors, and fishermen. Also references "fiord", which further fits the whole Norse/Viking theme.

WIP

Dreadnjord

A combination of 'dreadnought' and 'Njord'.

Pronounced: dred-NYORD

Dreadnoughts, of course, being warships and Njord being a Norse god of the sea.

Atlantium

It's a fairly simple combination of Atlantic (the ocean most commonly sailed by Vikings) and Titanium (an ultra tough metal)

WIP

Seagfrey

pronounced: (SEig-FrAy)

combination of Sea and freyr which is lord in norse and also a god in norse mythology.

overall the name is sea-lord without the norse word, and has been corrupted to make it sound like siegfried. As thats a cool name and almost fits freyr and sea in it without to much corruption.

as an added bonus it sounds like sea fray, a fray is a battle and battling in the sea is what this thing would be doing so... Yeah I think that fits nicely as well.

Overall I like this one because it not hard to say and fits a good amount of the caps design traits into it

Vesscylla

Vessel + Scylla

Pronounced: Ves - Sil - La

Named after a vessel because the design looks Like a boat or a ship. It is named Scylla after the Greek Aquatic Mythological creature that Odysseus encountered in Homer's "The Oddysey". The design looks Greek /Roman to me and I think the name captures the essence of the design quite well.

WIP

Normundr

Nordic - Jǫrmungandr

Pronunciation: Nor - Mun - Dur

Not particularly shippy but it contains nordic and an ancient sera serpent from Norse mythology which I find appropriate.

All the best Viking puns have been taken while I was moving house godamnit, well here's my contribution

WIP

Norskeid

A combination of Norse (vikings are Scandinavian) and "skeid," a class of longboat.

Pronounced: NOR-skīd

Another WIP

Osemium

A combination of "Oseberg," a famous viking longship, and "osmium," relating to this mon's Steel typing.

Pronounced: OHZ-me-um

WIP

Ferrocean

Pronounced: Fur-row-shun

Something less culture-focused and something more about the type. Ferro refers to iron and Ocean for the its habitat and together is a combines to a name that sounds similar to 'Ferocious' which is connected to it's mean draconic form. Also I wanted the name to sound really intimidating since it feels very warship-like.

Convoyage

Pronounced: Kon-voh-ye-dge

Convoy+Voyage

Convoy can mean an escort group of ships during travels. Voyage refers to a journey. I really tried to work in voyage somewhere since it's a really strong word but this is the best I could get to flow- although it still feels a bit too long and clunky but the meanings sort of work.

Maelstorm

Pronunciation: Male-storm

Combination of Maelstrom and Storm keeping in line with the water theme.

Monitor

The name has a double meaning. Firstly it's based off the first Ironclad designed by the Union Navy during the American Civil War the USS Monitor. Which coincidentally, fits in perfectly with the lizard like nature of the CAP which can resemble an oversized Monitor Lizard.

Skaldragon

Pronunciation: /skɔːldrəgən/ (pronounced flowingly, with no breaks - aka skal-dra-gan)

Skalds were the compilers of tales and lore in Norse history, and would either be able to calm their listeners down or incite them into furious rages.

The dragon is simply there because the majority of longboats and ornaments were carved in the image of dragons. That, and the "gon" part at the end hints at its metallic nature, making a hollow, metallic sound by bashing its oars against the shields.

Skald is also phonetically similar to scald, in addition to being close to how you would pronounce the word "skull".

Suggestions:

Shiprex

Sounds like "shipwrecks" but also evokes imagery of a dinosaur. Sure, it's the wrong dinosaur, but if you're bothered by that, "rex" means "king" and it's not like T. rex has very specific etymology to begin with. It's similar to bughouse's "Shiprekt" even though I tried to veer away from it, but I figure it's an alternative for those who are bothered by the memetic reference in that other name. In fact, you could even give this a nickname like "ShipREKT" like how people use nicknames like "HeraBOSS".

If bughouse somehow likes this name better, I'm willing to share credit or hand it all over in favour of the other suggestion:

Disastoar

The main reason I made this post now instead of waiting to talk to bughouse about the other name. It's the kind of cringe-worthy cheesy name that litters the Pokemon namespace. Also, full disclosure: I may or may not be biased by Final Fantasy VI. I can only say that I consciously thought of this name before consciously remembering a certain enemy...

But yeah, these are apparently the best I could come up with. I could never make much headway in this stage :(

Noarvik or Oarvik

To be honest I just like the sound of these names, combining Oar+Viking. Noarvik combines North/Norse with it as well.

Scandino

combining scandinavia+dinosaur. Simple, but I think it sounds good, and sounds like a pokemon name.

Vikunnavis (vy-CUN-ah-viss)
"viking" + "okunnigr" + "navis"
Okunnigr means unknown in Old Norse, which references the unpredictability of CAP 20 and its Norse theme.
Navis means boat in latin, and is because of CAP 20's boat-like design.
Viking means viking, also because of the Norse theme.

Batrireme (BAH-tre-reem)
"batr" + "trireme"
Batr is the Old Norse word for boat, and trimere is a greek longboat.

Dinojor

Dinosaur + Njord (Nordic God of the Sea and Seafaring)
Pronounced "Di-no-your"

Pretty simple name that I think perfectly goes along with this cap, I might put an a in between the o and r to give it a bit more flavor(Adding more emphasis on the design, by having oar), it also has a bit of a ring to it

or

Vitanic
Viking + Titanic (The famous ship that we all know about)
Pronounced: "Vi-Tan-Ic"

I would say that describing it as an "indestructable" ship is pretty accurate to describe a huge dinosaur creature that looks like a viking boat, also Viking really does help add to the design. Its also very simple

Feedback, Critcism, and preference of name is appricated
