Can we make this CAP fat? It's supposed to be bulky anyway, and squids are generally large. I'd say whatever makes Grass Knot hit for 100 BP.

PS: Stratagem is still cooler!!

I'll support Woodsy's height and weight, but I propose Undermine as a replacement for Unaware. Y'know, 'cause it's undermining your stat boosts. :P

Fair Fight is a prettty good name I have heard for Unaware. I'm not sure who came up with it, but it wasn't me.

Ruthless is also a good name for such an ability. It indicates a single-mindedness to the point that it ignores the opponent's boosts. It goes great with the pirate theme.

I'm against changing Unaware because a. It's more work for Doug, and he doesn't have much time as is, and b. because do you realize how many people we have coming on the server asking WHAHTS MOUNTAINER? It's easier to just avoid the questions. Nitpicky answer to nitpicky issue.
 
First post, but I've been watching the CaP process for a long time. This one was really quick, thanks to Darkie and darkie alone.

I was thinking 4 pounds (similar to Octillery, but heavier for grass knot and gloves/sowards)
2 ft. and 7 in. (also similar to Octillery, but shorter because sprites look more hunched down)
Don't know about name for unaware...

The work thing isn't too terrible for me (I don't think). But, I agree about the "accessiblity" question. It probably would lead to LOTS of questions. Whereas, Unaware is quite well-known.
 
Scurvy could go over Unaware. Fits with the pirate theme and makes pokemon sick and unable to use their stat boosts.
 
I agree with tennis that base 100 GK power would be nice
As for an ability name, I don't think Scurvy is half bad...so sick he can't watch your dragon dances?
And I guess yay to a CAP where I didn't win a single poll

Great Minds think alike I suppose, but in my case, Arghonaut isn't the one getting sick, since being the toughest squid pirate in the world he is immune to scurvy, but other pokemon get it from him.
 
Besides the "extra work" and "accessibility" things, why do we even need a name change to the ability? We didn't create a new ability, and all the other CAPs used the old names for abilities (except the newly invented abilities obviously). I know that there are other abilities that double, but is there even really a flavor issue with this Pokemon? "Oh you stat-upped? I wasn't aware. Also I don't care."

I say leave it as Unaware
 
I won a CaP poll this time. As for Unaware, leave the name as is, and for height, he should be around 6'3" as for the weight being 212 lbs.
 
I think Unaware as a name fits with the concept, as in 'I am unaware of your stat boosts because of this here eyepatch'
 
Why make Grass Knot hit 100BP on Squid pirate? Mostly curious really as 80 BP would do about the same things onto Squid Boy. It doesn't bother me 100% as everyone wanted some 500lb looking mofo from the start.

As for height, imagine a squid pokemon right next to you. For me, I figured he'd look around 2'10". He's definitely not as big as Torterra nor is he as small as a Pikachu. I think that base 100 GK would be a little too much, but that's just me :P Also, I like Doug's Ruthless ability name for the same reasons in his post.
 
I feel like he could be 5 ft tall and 150 pounds (or does pokemon use metric?) Anyway, someone mentioned fair fight as a name for the ability. As a pirate, the ability name should be something exactly opposite of that...he's a pirate after all!

Orlando Bloom: I would have beaten you in a fair fight!
Jonny Dep: Not much incentive to fight fairly, is it mate?

So maybe a name like "Sneaky Tactics" would better suit him.
 
I wasn't really sure changing the name was a good idea... but Fair Fight is a realllly cool name. (I think it fits =/)

Also I'm thinking 80 BP is probably best for competitive interest. 217 lbs. work? 5' 8'' works for me .-.
 
I love the idea of Fair Fight, but being a pirate, it should have the name Avast for Unaware. This is definitely pirate slang, and it is "A command meaning stop or desist", according to some random Pirate glossary I found on Google.

Dictionary.com says it is a:
–verb (imperative) Nautical.
used as a command to stop or cease: Avast heaving!

I think that this is a perfect name for CAP6 because of the effect of Unaware as well as the pirate theme.

I've got to wonder: Is a pirate likely to actually try to have a fair fight?

Scurvy sounds more like an Intimidate (or a Truant effect because it's just that non-specific) ability more than an equalizer.

Ruthless sounds better than the other two, in my opinion, it just doesn't really convey the ability's effect (anybody else reminded of Reckless).

I'm almost tempted to back simple Unaware (c wat i did thar?) because of its accessibility - we already have enough people asking what Mountaineer does.

EDIT: If we do something other than Unaware, though. Avast sounds bitchin'. :D
 
I think a height between 5 and 6 feet would be best and honestly the design make him look rather heavy so I could see him being around 250lbs.

As for Unaware. I say keep the name as is. It is easier for new people coming into CaP's metagame and there are plenty of flavorful reasons for a pirate to be unaware (Ex. Seasick, Drunk on Rum, being played by Johnny Dep ect.)

It's terribly easy to make carbon copies of abilities with different names. Heck, even I've done it before. A simple copy and paste in the code and a name change would be enough to create a new ability that copies Unaware. As for Mountaineer, I do agree with you, however, if they don't know what Mountaineer is, they obviously don't know what CaP is, and that's their fault, not ours.

Supporting Scurvy and anything 220+ lbs.
