CAP ASB 5th Gen Updates

OK, so the premise of this thread is very simple, just remember this one important rule:

Anything we do for CAP ASB is non-canonical. It does not effect implementation on any future 5th Gen server in any way, if it is ever created.

We'll be updating CAPs for 5th Gen and getting their Prevo details all set.

Here's what we need:

Stats for all the CAP Prevos (Little Cup guys can have cracks at these).

Names and Sprites for all the CAP Prevos.

5th Gen Movepool updates for all CAP Pokemon.

Stats Primer:

Remember that these are the ranges for Base Stats under the 5 star system:

Base:
0-25 *
26-55 **
56-95 ***
96-125 ****
126+ *****

CAP Prevos should be fairly linear with their evolutions. Here is an example of Syclant Prevo Scylar:

Stats: 45/76/40/74/34/91

HP: 90
Atk: ***
Def: **
SpA: ***
SpD: **
Spe: 91

There can be some fungibility, just don't take it overboard, for example:

Stats: 40/76/70/54/44/91

HP: 90
Atk: ***
Def: ***
SpA: **
SpD: **
Spe: 91

is an acceptable progression line while:

Stats: 60/86/70/64/64/81

HP: 100
Atk: ***
Def: ***
SpA: ***
SpD: ***
Spe: 81

Is not an acceptable progression line. Not for Syclant anyway. Try to stay true to the spirit of the CAP when you make your spreads.

Movepool Primer:

5th Gen Movepools do two things: 1: move some 4th Gen TMs and Tutors into Egg Moves and 2: add a 5th Gen Move or two to the level-up movepool. Basically use sound judgement. Even though this is not canonical, use your common sense when expanding movepools. Don't give Fidgit Boiling Water or Collosoil Ankle Sweep for example.

Flavor Primer:

We'll need sprites and names for all the CAPs. I'm not that picky but I need ideas on how to handle this. I don't think sprites will be a problem, we have plenty of good spriters.

You may reserve one CAP Pokemon, for which you will be responsible for their Prevos and Movepool. It will need to meet my final approval, but otherwise you have fairly free reign.

Dream World Primer:

The CAPs will each have access to a Dream World Ability. You may choose whatever you like, however it must be approved by me and fit with the overall flavor of the CAP.

Work List:

Syclar:

Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) damage, and the Energy Cost for mutli-hit attacks is increased by two (2).

Taking my shot at prevo stat spreads. Here's Stratagem.

strata prevo 1
40 / 40 / 45 / 80 / 50 / 100

strata prevo 2
65 / 50 / 55 / 100 / 60 / 115

stratagem
90 / 60 / 65 / 120 / 70 / 130

I was thinking about similar Pokemon like Alakazam and Gengar, and one of the most notable parts of each line is that they gain the same amount of base stats for every evo. Gastly -> Haunter and Haunter -> Gengar both get +15 HP, +10 Atk, +15 Def, +15 SAtk, +20 SDef, +15 Spe for the respective Evolutions. Abra -> Kadabra and Kadabra -> Alakazam both get +15 HP, +15 Atk, +15 Def, +15 SAtk, +15 SDef, +15 Spe on evolution.

For this, each Evolution results in +25 HP, +10 Atk, +10 Def, +20 SAtk, +10 SDef, +15 Spe per stage. An amusing side note is that like Gengar AND Alakazam, this results in a +90 BST per evolution stage.

edit: sorry vadre...

This Stratagem War won't work out well. If you want to split some of the work find a good resolution, you both started working at the same time.

Ima do Cyclohm :D

Concept: Cyclohm starts its life out as a carefree cloud with a lot of energy. It scoots around at a decent pace and is a much more offensive creature than its evolved forms might suggest. As it grows older it gains more heads and insight, increasing its bulk and awareness of its weather-altering powers. Once it fully emerges it becomes a massive storm, capable of taking and dealing incredible amounts of damage. It's dream world ability Sheer Force showcases that Cyclohm and its younger kin truly are forces of nature.

Yeah, no problem. I'm relinquishing my stat spread to Vader- talked to him on IRC about it.

EDIT: Starting my Kitsunoh stuff.

I'm shamelessly stealing Deck Knight's idea for the Kitsunoh prevo's name, Nohface (with his permission, obviously).

The idea is that Nohface is simply the mask (or masks) that are all over Kitsunoh's body. Nohface itself is very slow, moving by being carried by the evil spirits that gather around it. When a bunch of Nohface gather together, their various spirits combine together and they form a single Kitsunoh.

NOTES ABOUT THE CHANGES:

- I added Curse to Level-Up Moves, since my original flavor idea would be that Nohface would evolve into Kitsunoh after levelling up while knowing Curse.
- Added Iron Defense and Iron Head to level-up moves.
- Removed Tail Whip... Nohface optimally won't really have a tail.
- Added Foul Play and Evil Eye (gen 5 moves) to Egg Moves.
- Added Iron Tail to Egg Moves (originally a TM move, on par with Gen 5 standards)
- Removed Superpower and Elemental Punches from Move Tutors, since Nohface kinda... doesn't have arms.
- Ability is Levitate, since it kinda floats around for movement. Think Duskull -> Dusclops. It evolves legs, and as a result loses Levitate.
- Removed the no-longer-TM TMs- Sleep Talk, Iron Tail, Secret Power, Snatch, Captivate, Dark Pulse.
- Added new TM move: Retribution

[Under the assumption that Colloshale (name pending) would be more of a special attacker before evolution. Then upon evolution into 'swimming' through land, getting up close and personal would be more beneficial. Something like Colloshale used to live in x ocean/large body of water but due to x reason the ocean became a desert. To adapt to the conditions, Colloshale evolved into Collosoil, who can live without water for long periods of time/drill through land/etc. The Colloshale would live in the oasis-es. Slightly off-topic, but these stat groups are so broad. Whether Colloshale has 60 or 90 attack it'll be the same 9.9]

I think it'd be better flavorwise if you altered Nohface's movepool a little bit. Here are my suggestions:

Nohface
--------------------------
LEVEL UP MOVES
--------------------------
Tackle (-)
Iron Defense (-)
Lick (6)
Leer (10)
Faint Attack (14)
Shadow Sneak (18)
Curse (22)
Copycat (27)
Metal Burst (31)
Memento (35)
Fake Out (40)
Scary Face (44)
Iron Head (49)
Revenge (55)
ShadowStrike (61)
Perish Song (67)

tl;dr: I removed all the "claw" moves and instead put in "face" moves. This change would also eliminate Hone Claws in the TM Listing. Don't forget to also take out Hyper Beam and Giga Impact since they are usually final evolutions only. Not sure if Dig, Brick Break, or EQ should be on there in general either, although if its a spinning mask Dig could be quite justifiable.

Natural Gift is not TM 83 anymore, TM83 is now Cheer Up.

Also if you like the Metal Burst idea, you can lower the speed down to Base 10. That will put it at 333 BST (half of 666!), 7 points below Vibrava. It just so happens that Flygon has 520 BST, which is 7 points higher than Kitsunoh. And it will speed tie Trapinch.

HD:

Soil loses Special Attack AND Speed when evolving? That's a huge stretch. Here is my proposed solution:

Prevo 1: Colosshale

Stats: 83 / 42 / 52 / 71 / 62 / 85

HP: 100%
Atk: **
Def: **
SpA: ***
SpD: ***
Spe: 85

This emphasizes special attacking by giving it Soil's special attack and a bias towards special generally. Remember it's Dark/Water so it has STAB on things like Muddy Water, not Earthquake.

smashlloyd20:

Your progression seems fine as it is statwise, but I think doing something similar to Cylcohm would be more warranted. the younger oak versions aren't going to have such heavy wood armor on their bodies, so their weight will be lighter and than can be faster, for example:

Embirch

60 HP / 40 Atk / 55 Def / 65 SpA / 50 SpD / 50 Speed

HP: 100%
Atk: **
Def: **
SpA: ***
SpD: **

Flamaple

90 HP / 55 Atk / 85 Def / 80 SpA / 70 SpD / 55 Speed

HP: 100%

Just something for consideration.

Just a suggestion, but why not have a few without any pre-evolutions or nerfing their "4th Gen" attributes into "5th Gen" and then creating an evolution for some (I can see this happening for Krillowatt) so that they stay the same for Gen IV for a retrospective state but still altering their qualities for a new metagame.

Just a suggestion, please don't hate ._.

Most of this is trying to fill out flavor, and all CAPs are assumed to be final evolutions. Killowatt already has 570 BST I don't see how it should get an evolution lol. The only ones I actually had concrete data for were the first three and "Voodoll" sort of took off. So basically this is just a superimposition of a logical evolution stream for the CAPs.

Ah, I see. Didn't really think about the flavor there. Made the suggested changes. Movepools coming later, I assume moves such as Wood Hammer and Head Smash should be removed because of lack of heavy armor?

Pyroak doesn't currently have Head Smash iirc, but yeah, Wood Hammer/Flare Blitz are currently Heart Scale moves for Oak so I'd shy away from them for the prevos. As far as an ability, You can replace Rock Head with Leaf Guard if you want since the first two won't get recoil moves. For a Dream World ability, Chlorophyll makes perfect sense. It's up to you, but these are my recommendations.

Sorry, thought I vaguely recalled Head Smash somewhere but I think I made point. Leaf Guard and Chlorophyll sound perfect, I was having trouble thiking of abilities myself.

Can artists apply for spriting commissions here? With 14 Pre-evos to do, there ought to be plenty of work to go around.

edit: In that case I'll take the Arghonaut prevo for now.

'Nautacur' reporting for duty. Based on a dumbo squid first mate and some art created awhile ago.

Its habit of saluting whenever an order is given kind of explains what happened to Arghonaut's other eye...

edit: Sorry Other Doug. Apparently I made the edit requesting prevo-Naut about 19 seconds before you posted, so I hadn't seen what you'd already done. Want to work with my design through your stats and movepool? 'Iron Fist' could...maybe..kinda be that cutlass thing he has? Or maybe we could work to find another flavorful ability?

Prevos and Evos don't have to have the same level-up moves. They are *usually* the same, but there are several instances where they are wildly divergent. Shroomish -> Breloom is an example, athough then again is Trapinch -> Vibrava. Kitsunoh's movepool can stay the same as an evo, I was talking specifically about Nohface's moves, although maybe it was poor visualization on my part.

Yeah, but a couple of those moves actually make sense for Kitsunoh herself to have, such as Scary Face and Leer. Scratch isn't important, and neither is Metal Claw, really.

also the arghonaut prevo should definitely be named Privatyke (privateer is another name for a pirate)

EDIT: i want to take a shot at spriting nohface, but if i fail miserably i want to have backup

I reserve Revenankh's 5th gen update. I revamped the guy's stat spread and ability once already, I can take another shot at it^^

Sure thing Cartoons! Actually, your sprite with the singe cutlass, and two eyes reminds me a little bit of a pre-evolution concept I whipped up about two years ago into a loose sketch. Perhaps we could work elements of this design into your wonderful design?
As for possible alternate dream world abilities, the ones that stick out in my mind are "Water Veil", "Water Absorb", "Hydration", and "Lightning Rod." Although "Iron Fist" could still work with his cutlass.

Drafted up a few sprites. Every single design here is taken from pre-evolution concepts in either art submission or finalisation threads for each capmon. Also done in a style more suited to generation 5.

Love them, but there's something a little off about Bolderdash (Gem's second stage, the claws seem to be a bit thin and straight). Rebble (Gem's first stage) looks great in comparison.
