tbh I'm not sure what to do here. It looks like we've got a nice rock-paper-scissors game going on here, and I have to reveal first. I guess I'll just have to go with old faithful, and hope he can pull something out of his shell:

Lapras (M), "Typhon"

Good luck.

Good luck, Athenodoros. You will need it...

Even without Hydreigon, we shall prevail!

Go, Cyric!

Round One: WHAT IS THIS I DON"T EVEN-

"COME ON! WRONG ARENA? CAN'T THEY AT LEAST TELL THE REF WHAT'S GOING ON!!!"

I ran out onto the field, annoyed that I'd been standing in the wrong arena, trying to begin a battle while the manager was apparently beginning it himself. FML. "Alright, skipping formalities we have Water Dude vs Psycho Boy-"

"GHESTIS, FOOL!"

"-Great match, sure to be amazing, let's get on with it."

In twin flashes of light a Gengar (such an extremely epic opponent that deserves to crush anything that tries to step up to it in my unbiased opinion) and a Lapras (Holy... these guys have too much cash) are unleashed. As the ref stares in awe at the tremendous amount of power, the battle begins.

Lapras begins to focus his cells towards a common goal, reworking them to increase effeciency and prepare for a massive burst. As he calms himself and prepares to store energy and create a tremendous pulse of sheer force, Gengar prepares to do that wonderful thing that Gengar's are known for. Screwing their opponent over. He shoots out an orb of incredibly charge that gives twenty audience members seizures just by looking at it, and inflicts tremendous pain upon the Lapras. The electricity begins to flow through the water in his body, acting on the newly restructured cells and giving them a chance to fail completely. To compensate, huge amounts of energy are now available for Typhon to unleash right back.

Lapras continues to prepare, biding his time for one of the most powerful attacks to ever be unleashed in this arena that has seen a great many devestating blasts before. Cyric could care less. If it ain't a Ralts with Psychic, he's not scared. This time, the Gengar summons together a massive orb of chi energy that beigns to emit a fierce aura across the entire battlefield before being launched at Typhon, who's icy skeleton partially fractures under the force of the attack. However, the extra chi energy begins to stimulate his body, letting him do things now that he never could have done before.

Finally, the time has come for Lapras to unleash his powerful blast of energy designed to obliterate his foe. He rears his head back, roars... and crumples into the water. The attempt to draw his entire being into one blast failed as the electricity concentrated together, locking up parts of his and making him feel excruciating pain as pulses of energy surge through him, undoing the work he had previously put into preparing his attack. The little troll ghost in front of him couldn't be more pleased as he begins to circle his foe rapidly before raising his hands into the air and bringing them down in a dramatic motion, a thunderbolt dropping down from the heavens to accompany him.

This unfortunate paralysis has put Athenodoros at a considerable disadvantage. Can he recover without the help of a Ralts and Psychic? Only time will tell.

Round Two: The HAX strikes back!

Lapras throws his head back and prepares to at least make Gengar really, really mad and limit his time back on earth. However, the wonderful thing about Gengar's is that Gengars are wonderful trolls. They snatch and HAX and sleep and burn and fun fun fun fun fun. Because the wonderful thing about Gengars is that Gengars are wonderful trolls.

By the time the brief song is over, Lapras is really bored/annoyed and falls into a very, very deep sleep. Gengar decides to take advantage of his sleeping foe's almost full round of inaction by waking him back up so they can celebrate together. He begins to hold his hands in the air again, and brings them down with the help of a shadowy staff ala Gandalf, causing a huge blast of electricity to fall down while the voice of God screams "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" Lapras is literally jolted awake, the paralysis newly flowing through his veins, renewed by the thunderbolt. He's barely staying concious, but fires off a ball of shadowy energy at random to kill the ghosty. A certain psychic type on the sidelines had informed it that Cyric didn't like shadow balls to the face.

Gengar doesn't like that, and replies by shooting out a huge pulse of chi energy at Lapras, who gets struck hard as he tries to fight through the attack with a mental shield, causing a huge release of aura in the center of the battlefield that gives 20+ audience members headaches and makes them pass out because they can't handle the awesome. Athenodoros and Lapras are apparently still taking advice on how to kill the Gengar from the sidelines, but it will hopefully end as the ref withdraws his Gardevoir back into her Pokeball.

Now, where were we?

Oh, yeah. Lapras can't handle the epic either and is knocked out.

So sad.

Round Three: Friend or Foe?

Athenodoros reaches to his belt, prepared to send out his trusty partner Slowking. Much to his surprise, when the ball hits the ground a huge flash of light explodes from it, and an enormous Hydreigon floats above the arena, roaring loudly and spitting fire from all three heads for good effect when he stops, and notices something...

He's fighting Ghestis.

Usually, this would make a Pokemon s*** itself and cry for his mommy, but it just confuses him. Why is someone else commanding him against his own trainer. The ref curses, annoyed that his Gardevoir made such a basic mistake, and calls out to the crowd. "Sorry about not clarifying this, but for the purposes of entertainment, we have swapped Slowking and Hydreigon for the match. Have fun!"

The battlers take it decently well, and keep on going. Gengar is still annoyed at having to face a foe more powerful than what he was expecting, but keeps on the trololololololol path by shooting out a concentrated beam of voltage at Hydreigon, that causes him to sink lower to the ground as his muscles convulse randomly and make it harder to move, let alone perform attacks. Despite this, he is very well trained and keeps fighting, using his dark abilities to create four shadowy illusions of himself around the field, and then performing a complicated midair manuever to confuse Gengar as to which is real.

Doing a quick mental tally, Gengar chooses the center one and prepares an enormous shot of aura, as more and more energy is summoned from between the worlds into what amounts as a bomb of supernatural power. When its fully charged, Cyric randomly flings it and the attack collides with one of the Hydreigons in a massive explosion of light that annihalates the clone, but does nothing else to the real Hydreigon or the other copies. Speaking of which, the real Hydreigon charges forwards, his shadowy minions in tow, and delivers a massive blow with all twelve heads, sending Gengar flying back a few feet due to the power of the dark aura unleashed in the attack.

Infuriated, Gengar uses Focus Blast again, but hits a clone. Hydreigon is paralyzed, and is unable to move with the electricity messing with his muscles.

[box]Both Pokémon have adjusted to their situation rapidly. Heightened stakes aside, this was little different than any training session they had been in.

Cyric is running low on stamina, and wears this on his figurative sleave—desperate to disallow Athenodoros from regaining a modicum of control over the battle's flow, Zarator issues his orders. Cyric affirms solemnly. Athenodoros, in turn, tries to order an unfamilar Pokémon to regain momentum—Tiamat responds as a well-trained battler would, but takes little to no pleasure in such.

Positioning himself at the arena's edge, Cyric forces all of Tiamat's visages to approach him from the same angle. From this vantage, Cyric disperses the illusionary duplicates with a frigid wind, chilling Tiamat to into a supreme legarthy. Burdened with overdriven, yet frosted musculature, Tiamat stiffens like a carcass and drops to the ground, unable to move under her own power.

Taking no pause to gloat over a comrade, Cyric swells with internal pressure and releases it just above Tiamat, expending himself in the process. Battered and with yet-locking limbs, Tiamat lifts back off the ground in the slightest hover, awaiting her next ally-turned-opponent.

Go, Myrkul!

Taunt - Brick Break - Drain Punch
If Hydreigon uses Protect A1, replace your course of action with Focus Punch - Taunt - Brick Break
If Hydreigon uses U-turn on A1 or A2, replace your current action (A1 or A2 respectively) with Brick Break and your following action (A2 or A3 respectively) with Taunt.

Well this is terrabad. I'm not sure I'll enjoy Lapras vs. Myrkul.

And why do the highlight matches have such bad luck with refs?

Anyway, it is time for some all-out offense in the hope we can just damage this thing quickly. Why this thing doesn't have a move more powerful than Acrobatics that is SE I don't know:

Round 5 End
Tiamat's paralysis fully degraded!

[box]Myrkul is baffled for a moment upon entering the arena: meeting Tiamat across the battlefield instead of in tandem? Tiamat's naivete would lead her to follow any trainer that gave competent orders, it seemed. No matter, the spectre mused. He would simply have to show her back to the winner's side the hard way.

Opening with boasts of ability, and jeers regarding a traitorous nature, Myrkul whipped Tiamat with words into a berserk state. In retaliation for such dire insults, Tiamat called upon a punishing rain of stones from the sky to pummel the ghast.

Striking the hydra directly now, Myrkul makes a stone-splitting blow to the body of the beast. Tiamat bellowed in frothing rage; how dare he touch her with such fel hands? A full-on assault follows, battering Myrkul into the ground. Myrkul's curse passes to Tiamat, not that it receives any notice from the dragon.

Now seeking to maintain his vim, Myrkul repeats his attack—with his curse firmly in place, however, the inflicted pain is lifted from his own shoulders, easing his aches. Tiamat knocks Myrkul right back down, however, and the calamitous onslaught etches Myrkul's own curse into his frame. The weight of irony weighs heavily on the wight as Tiamat begins to lift higher, regaining her mobility.[/box]

[box]A swift end to a long and questionably productive run by Tiamat. Perhaps she would have performed better in the hands of her original trainer? At any rate, Myrkul is comfortable knowing that she will be returning to the correct side presently. The fact that he has only an unknown ally to rely on disrupts his state of ease, however.[/box]
