Cliffside Combat! 3v3 Triples, Athendoros vs Shiny Umbreon (Ref: IceBug)

Status
Not open for further replies.
Not often do I get a chance to ref in pretty places like this...the hum of the waterfall, the swirling patterns of the rock...can we PLEASE try not to collapse all of this while we're standing on it?

Regardless, we have a 3v3 Triples between The Shiny Umbreon and Athenodoros, and as soon as I finish reading the rules for triples combat, we can begin!

The Shiny Umbreon's Team:

Eevee(*) (Cappy) (M)
Nature: Sassy (Adds * to Special Defense; A 15% decrease (rounded down) in Base Speed and a +5% increase in accuracy (e.g. 85 becomes 90) on an opponent's attacks)
Type: Normal
Normal: Normal STAB; Bite, Claw Sharpen, Crunch, Dig, Double Kick, Hammer Arm, Iron Tail, Rain Dance, Rock Smash, Shadow Claw, Sunny Day, Wild Charge have Energy Cost reduced by one (1).

Abilities:
Run Away: (Innate) This Pokemon is quick on its feet and can evade any traps in an arena. Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to escape from trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.
Adaptability: (Innate) The moves that match this Pokemon’s type deal two (2) more damage.
Anticipation (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon is better at sensing dangerous attacks, and takes three (3) less damage from super-effective attacks, Selfdestruct, and Explosion.

Bronzor (Katoptris) (Genderless)
Nature: Brave (Adds One (1) Rank to Attack; Divides Base Speed by 1.15 and gives a flat 10 point decrease in evasion, effectively adding 10 accuracy (e.g. 85 becomes 95) on an opponent’s attacks.
Type: Steel/Psychic
Steel: Steel STAB; Immune to Sandstorm, highly insusceptible to toxic attacks, but can be corroded specifically by Acid and Acid Spray, can be magnetized. Superior senses in high-metal environments like construction sites or factories.
Psychic: Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.

Abilities:
Levitate: (Innate) This Pokemon naturally floats above the earth when released or easily takes flight, evading Ground moves like Bulldoze, Dig, Earthquake, and Magnitude. Other Ground moves can still hit.
Heatproof: (Innate) This Pokemon's mirror-like alloyed skin protects it from Fire-type attacks, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.) The damage inflicted by burns is also cut in half.
Heavy Metal (DW): (Innate) The Pokemon's body structure is immensely dense, doubling its weight. When it uses a full-body attack or a weight-based attack it will do more damage, and it will be much harder to lift, throw, or knock back.

Type: Bug/Poison
Bug: Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gain an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.
Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.

Abilities:
Compoundeyes: (Innate) This Pokemon’s complex eyes give it a comprehensive view of the field, making its attack 30% (x1.3) more accurate.
Tinted Lens: (Innate) When this Pokemon uses an attack that is normally not very effective, that attack is calculated at the next highest resisrance modifier. (e.g. 4x resistance is calculated at 2x, 2x resistance becomes neutral).
Run Away (DW): (Innate) This Pokemon is quick on its feet and will evade any field traps and hazards that would harm it (Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes) in an arena. A Pokemon can still absorb Toxic Spikes if it has Run Away and is Poison-typed. Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to switch out of trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.

Water - Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious. Splash and Ice Moves have Energy Cost reduced by one (1).
Psychic - Psychic STAB; less susceptible to blinding, more susceptible to sound-based assaults as far as locking on with Psychic attacks, can lift and throw opponents with Psychic attacks regardless of weight difference. 3v3 Triples
2 day DQ
2R/5C
Unevolved pokémon, but capable of evolving, only

Arena: A cliffside, with a waterfall off of it. Any pokémon that fall off of the edge and don't have some form of flight/levitation (ref's discretion) take 20 HP damage. The water enables the use of all water-type moves, and there are enough rocks in the stream for moves such as Rock Slide, but there is no Digging, and an Earthquake has a 25% chance of collapsing the cliff, forcing everyone to fall and battle below. The ground has the river continuing from the waterfall, but Dig and Earthquake are usable there.

No items or switching, one ability.

So, here's how the match order will go:

The Shiny Umbreon posts abilities and locations (left, center, right).
Athenodoros posts abilities, locations relative to his opponents ("across from ____ is ____"), and gives first actions.
Shiny Umbreon responds with actions.
I watch all of your pokemon try to throw each other off the cliff side.
Reverse orders, reffing, eventual winning.

Without further ramblings, BEGIN!

Opposite Katoptris - Nestor (Own Tempo)
Centre - Loki (Levitate)
Opposite Nita - Mars (Poison Point)

Right guys, this should be a good battle. I think we'll work on giving Loki centre stage, because he hasn't really had a big battle yet. Off you go, guys!

Loki: Taunt (Bronzor) => Hypnosis (Venonat)
Nestor: Flamethrower *2 (Bronzong) - If Flamethrower is Disabled or somesuch, Disable the Disable
Mars: Double Kick *2 (Eevee) - If Double Kick is Disabled or somesuch, Disable the Disable.

Katoptris, start off with Payback on Loki, then use Charge Beam on Nestor.

Cappy, you're a critical Pokémon in this fight, let's deal some damage early! Use Fake Tears on Nestor, then hit him with a Shadow Ball!

Nita, use Psychic on Nestor, then Disable Mars' Double Kick!

Huzzah! I have a Triples reffing format now! And a moment of hope for my internet connection! The fun can now begin!

With a myriad of pretty slow Pokemon hitting the field to start, Loki the Gastly took advantage of his speed to quickly Taunt Katoptris, forcing the little bronze shield into an uncomfortable attacking role for the next several rounds. Cappy was next to move, and began...crying? Cappy, no one has even looked at you funny yet (well, except Nestor, but Slowpoke look at EVERYONE funny)! Clearly, those were Fake Tears, but it appears Loki has dropped his guard a bit to check to make sure his opponent is okay! Following after her teammate, Nita attempted a Psychic attack, but her target was too far away to reach telekinectically (remember, most single target moves only reach the middle and the Pokemon across from you, not the opposite ends)! Mars, not feeling the least bit sorry from the bauling Eevee, Double Kicked him for a bit of damage, while Katoptris used Payback against Loki, using some bad karma from the earlier Taunt as a few to make the strike hit even harder! A few minutes later, Nestor realized that there was a battle going on, and somehow managed to light a fire deep in his belly to blast Katoptris with a Flamethrower! The flames did a good deal of damage to the shield, who had a hard time properly expressing emotion without pronounced facial features!

While Katoptris burned, Loki flew in close to Nita, staring deep into the red, swirling void of her eyes to try to lull her to sleep with Hypnosis! Apparently, though, he focused on the wrong part of the bug's multi-lensed eyes and the attack failed to do anything of note...except put Loki at point blank range for a Shadow Ball from Cappy, which, after already taking Loki for surprise with his tears last turn, managed to add insult to injury by dropping his Sp. Defense even further! Nita, in an effort to protect her teammate from any further kicking, launched a memory erasing pulse at Mars, Disabling him to the point of forgetting how to use his legs for anything outside of basic motor function! But, in a shocking twist, the pulse was quickly rebounded back towards Nita, who, when struck, forgot how to erase memories! That's right, a Disable Disable! Katoptris was finished melting and threw a counterattack back at Nestor with an electrified Charge Beam, and true to its namesake, the beam juiced up the Bronzor with a boost to its Sp. Attack. And, last but not least, Nestor, clearly not over his heartburn quite yet, blasted out another red hot Flamethrower at Katoptris, who was likely not going to be done catching fire this match any time soon with Nestor still breathing!

(Damn, I meant Loki. Ah well.)

Katoptris, use Charge Beam against Nestor, then Extrasensory on Loki! If Loki has fainted, use Earthquake instead.

Cappy, use Fake Tears on Loki, then Shadow Ball. If Loki faints, use it on Nestor instead.

Nita, use Psychic on Mars, and try to throw him off the cliff! Then use Psybeam on Loki if he's still alive, or on Mars if Loki isn't.

(Also, I just realized that our layouts are both Psychic - Normal/Ghost (shared immunity) - Poison. That's cool.)

Well, at least we got Perish Song off.Now we can just scramble for KO Counters:

Slowpoke: Flamethrower (Bronzor) => Surf (Which can only hit Eevee and Bronzor)
Nidoran: Ice Beam (Eevee) => Thunderbolt (Eevee)

That was both evil and vindictive. I'm very impressed.

Cappy, I'm going to ask you to Bodyblock Katoptris, then use Detect.

Katoptris, get off as many Earthquakes as you can. Make this cliff collapse!

Nita, use Psychic to throw Mars against the ground, weakening it slightly, then use it again!

Here comes C$FP! And I see what you meant when you said there were three more rounds to ref. I was wondering why you were so exact... Also, I really do not enjoy following other people's formats, they seem so unnecessary.

Cappy starts this round off by Bodyblocking Katoptris, ready to take extra hits. Nita focuses her Psychic powers and attacks Mars, and this is too much for Mars, and Mars faints. Katoptris tries to Hypnotize Nestor, but just barely misses. Nestor uses Psychic powers to attack Katoptris, but Cappy is in the way and takes the hit. Cappy tries to avoid taking any more hits by Detecting any moves coming, but Cappy doesn't detect anything. Nita wants to attack Mars with Psychic powers, but instead attacks Nestor, the one who is still standing. Katoptris once again tries to Hypnotize Nestor, and this time gets it right. Nestor just has a quick nap, but then everyone suddenly collapses. THE END.
