Rolf: You initially said you were using Ferroseed rather than Dratini...but oh well. Because this has taken long enough already, I'm just going to replace Ferroseed with Dratini...note that Engineer Pikachu now has the right to do so as well, including with updates.

"Dratini's slams into the weakened Syclar with Extreme speed. Obviously, Syclar faints.

Mandibuzz, suddenly noticing that the trainers are switching their fainted Pokemon out, flies away in disgust-she isn't getting a meal here. She notices a wild Buneary in the distance, which she swoops after."

We pity the Buneary-but we must continue the battle.

Engineer Pikachu, send out any of your Pokemon!

Engineer Pikachu

Good morning, you bastards!

Sigh!

Go, Tsuki!

Start things off with a nice ghastly Will-o-Wisp to surprise the dragonling. Next, get close and attack with ShadowStrike. If you didn't get the Defense drop, use Leer for your third action. If you did, punch Dratini again with Meteor Mash.

Will-o-Wisp ~ ShadowStrike ~ Leer/Meteor Mash

Haar, lets try some antics here.

Start off by using your pretty far superior speed to Agility into the water (your adeptness at swimming is great!) and dissipate that blue flame before it can burn you. Next, use the water around you and send some nice Surf over to that Nohface. Finish with a nice, wet Thunderbolt. Stay in the water a ways so that he can't get near you without getting in the water himself, and make sure to position yourself so that you won't get knocked into the strong currents if he perchance does hit you with a Meteor Mash.

Round 8

Taking decisive advantage of Rolf's choice of Dratini, Engineer Pikachu sends out:

(and no, I do not know why Engineer Pikachu constantly gets quoted twice.)

Nohface

And the final 2 Pokemon are out!

Rolf's Dratini rapidly relaxes his muscles and darts to the water with great agility. Nohface accurately fires a Will O' Wisp after Dratini-but the water is too cold and insulative to let the heat of the flames through, and Dratini evades it. Undaunted, Nohface begins forming an appendage from its shadowy figure, moving towards Dratini...as Dratini simply unleashes a wave of Surf from the icy waters at her!

Nohface emerges from the wave with a decent battering-but purring gleefully-for ghosts do not have to take breaths so often as mortals. She gleefully darts forward in a ghastly burst, before unleashing a ShadowStrike at Dratini. The fiendish claw fails to weaken Dratini's defenses, but it stings him.

Dratini, who is brave in the face of danger, unleashes a close-range Thunderbolt at Nohface. But even he is frightened when Nohface Leers at him darkly.

Nohface is hovering just above the water-and she happily awaits the orders of her trainer. Dratini is swimming proudly against the current several feet away, though with some slight fright from the Leer. He too awaits his orders-and his trainer, Rolf goes next.

Okay dratini, let's stay in the water and Dragon rage ~ Thunder wave ~ dragon rage! Get mad about that defense drop >:(

I guess it's time to pull out the big guns.

Start things off with a nice Meteor Mash. It's ok if the dragon rage hits you; you're outdamaging the Dratini. Next, see if you can Dig into the ground to avoid the Thunder Wave. If you can't, follow up with a ShadowStrike to see if you can get a Defense drop. If you were able to dig the action before, use ShadowStrike now. If you used ShadowStrike the previous action, slam Haar with another Meteor Mash.

While the mysterious forces of lag and the hide tags continue to vex me, they will not stop me from continuing to report this battle.

Dratini begins the match, inspired by his trainer's strong words, by blowing raging, blue, draconic flames at Nohface. They do not dissipate on contact with the water, and even Nohface must hate the dreaded fixed damage. Nohface, of course, responds directly-a shadowy appendage appears as the last flame hits, glows white, then slams into Dratini. The energy from the Meteor Mash fails to energize Nohface, but it certainly leaves Dratini smarting.

Dratini charges up a small wave of electricity-no thunder appears (oh the irony), but there is a crackle in the water. Nohface realizes her heavy form, carried by a single spirit, is incapable of dodging in time, so she gives a cackling purr despite the paralyzing shock and unleashes another ShadowStrike. Again, Dratini is too brave to have his defense lowered by the fiendish attack*, but he is still backing down slightly.

Dratini launches more flames like the raging dragon he is, which strike Nohface effectively. Once again, repeating the first round despite the added need to move despite paralysis, Nohface mashes like a meteor into Dratini, and she again fails to nab that extra energy.

Nohface feels a crackle in her spine as she floats just on the water's edge, but she gleefully awaits her orders. Dratini too waits, head above the water and tail swimming powerfully against the currents.

*Note that this is just narrating Dratini's nature in, I just happened to RNG "no defense drop" twice in a row. Just in case anyone gets confused.

Ugh, you're getting quite unlucky.

There's not much for you to do except do pretty much the same thing as last time.

ShadowStrike, Meteor Mash, ShadowStrike

However, don't get lured any further into the water. Should the Dratini back up further into the ocean, use ShadowStrike to push Haar out of his comfort zone and into the strong currents. Then, zoom back to your original position.

Also I was looking at the damage calcs; did you forget to add STAB for my attacks? It seems that you're missing exactly three damage for each attack.

There isn't much we can do to this stinker, Haar. Start with another Dragon Rage, then use Dragon Dance in the water twice! On the second one, try and evade the Meteor Mash while Dancing with your superior speed and water movement capabilities.

Sorry about not including STAB-don't know how I got 52.

(given what the actual calcs turned out to be [14.5 damage, 12.5 damage, 14.5 damage], this is making me want to use Nohface on my team...dat Meteor Mash...)

It seems as though Google Chrome does not have the hide tag issue. This is good-I need to get back to this battle!

"Dratini starts the match off by using his Dragon Rage again-which Nohface of course cringes at. Fighting the electric crackles of last round's thunder wave, she responds by gleefully unleashing another ShadowStrike-which startles Dratini, but not enough to lower his defense...unlucky today, aren't we?

Dratini now begins swimming throught the water in regular patterns, glowing red and blue as he nimbly dances draconically. In fact, he moves so quickly that Nohface can only deal a fraction of the standard damage with Meteor Mash.

Moving even more frantically, Dratini uses his Dragon Dance again-but this time he neglects to dodge another ShadowStrike from Nohface! This startles him heavily-his focus on his enemy's attacks has decreased, and so has his defense.

Happy that she finally managed to scare Dratini, Nohface awaits her orders. Dratini is getting tired from all of the high-powered STAB hits-he too awaits his orders.

Rolf orders next.

"Welc-"

"It appears that not only did the Mandibuzz return, but she's firing Dark Pulses at Nohface like there's no tomorrow! Nohface can only flinch at the dark thoughts as Dratini's Outrage gets a critical hit!

Still struggling, Nohface attempts another ShadowStrike-but she can't, because she feels the sting of paralysis affect her. Dratini is feeling lucky today-his outward rage hits Nohface again! Mandibuzz contributes, as she plans to swoop in and carry the Nohface out of range of recall the minute she faints."

Nohface tries to hold on, but she is just too slow-and she is outsped and beaten by another critical Outrage.

In reality, Mandibuzz did not return, and despite the first hit of Dratini's Outrage indeed being critical, Nohface was not paralyzed and managed to strike back with another claw of shadow. Dratini falls quickly to the attack, knocked out of his Outrage. Using the last of his energy to swim to shore, Dratini falls down in a tired slump.

Nohface and her trainer, Engineer Pikachu, gleefully accept victory.

So yeah. Great match-though it pays to remember which mons you send into battle.

Engineer Pikachu gets 2 Trainer Counters. Syclar and Nohface each get 1 Evo Counter, 1 Dream Counter, 1 Move Counter, and 1 KO counter.

Rolf gets 2 Trainer Counters. Togepi and Dratini each get 1 Evo Counter, 1 Dream Counter, and 1 Move Counter. Dratini additionally gets 1 KO counter.

I get 2 ref tokens.

YOU MAY COMMENT NOW.

Tried to do double hide tags, but that failed miserably.

Check again. I think I'll put the two reffing counters into my Plicowatt's Evolution Counter-she needs it.
