Contrary

I noticed that Serperior's Dream World ability is Contrary, and it seems like this is an easily abusable ability. Serperior learns Leaf Storm, which is basically a 140 BP STAB Nasty Plot. Do you think this will impact the metagame? It seems like it would work, but unfortunately Serperior has a very shallow movepool...

Yeah and we have found out that he has four moveslot syndrome and weak to scarf etcetcetcetc long ago

To help with the crappy movepool, I tried giving one Light Clay + Reflect so he could at least throw up a solid screen if given the chance during a switch or something. Seems to be helpful on occasion.

Well, it's got plenty of support moves. Substitute, Leech Seed, Glare, and so on. But offensively it doesn't have much.

Don't forget that his special movepool basically consists of Leaf Storm and Hidden Power.
And this is why he'll never have a large impact on the metagame.

Even if he can hit most things neutrally with HP, the fact that HP is so weak means he can easily be walled by things that resist his STAB, and remain neutral to his HP.

Leaf Storm's low PP and questionable typing doesn't help either.
Blissey, Heatran, Skarmory and the steel bugs can continuously come in and resist it 4 times. Although only Blissey and Heatran are relatively safe since HP fire is dangerous for Skarmory and the Steel Bugs.

However a good Serperior user will know that it's a late game sweeper, and should know that the only good time to bring it out is when the things that resist it's Hidden Power of choice are either gone or at least weakened to the point where their next Leaf Storm will kill the said counters. Blissey can also be stalled out by Sub Seeding (Serperior ALWAYS wins if it has Sub Seed), and can even be forced out by Dragon Tail for any that carry it.

You also forgot Ferrothorn on your list of counters.

Try to use Contrary Spinda with V-generate (assist) and yoou'll find out how much a pain is to kill (use him as your last poke with rest and nothing bar crits kill her) is so funny because nobody everyone laughts at spinda, really fun to use

Serperior is tbh the pokemon i fear the most in gen 5 alongside garchomp.
His movepool of supporting spectrum is so pro it dont really need offensive one to be top threats even more top than he is now.

Sweeping shuckles don't need to lower themselves to such lowly tactics.

They just use power share, defense curl 3 times and sweep whole teams with rollout.

It'd be awesome if there were a dragon-type move that cause massive damage and the lowered all stats by 2 levels. Serperior would love this crap.

He might get D-Meteor in Grey. it seems unlikely though, its never been given out to non dragons.

I prefer Charcoal Assist Liepard- With Prankster, Assist ignores all Speed Drops from V-Generate except vs priority moves, and with Charcoal + a boost from Drought, V-Generate gets 324 base Power.

Sucker Punch can be used on say Latias to stay faster than the competition that resists V-Gen (Shandera, Starmie, Latios), especially luring attacks behind a Substitute, while you could opt for Hone Claws to take advantage of the boosts obtainable after an Encore causes a switch. This way you can switch in on a non-threatening move, Encore, Hone Claws on the switch, and then Substitute against Taunt, status, etc. before hitting with a sun-boosted Assist V-Generate, always going first.

Liepard: @ Charcoal
