The goal of this thread is as follows. Each week a specific core will be chosen, and each person's goal will be to come up with a Pokemon or core that can effectively nullify the threat selected that week. When nominating a pokemon, make sure that you give a valid description as to why it is an effective counter to the selected threat, and make sure that it is a true counter, and not just a check. At the end of each week, a voting period will ensue in which everybody will vote for a single nomination as the most effective counter to the selected threat of the week. Feel free to discuss and post in the thread, but make sure you only nominate 1x per week to give everybody equal opportunity! Below is an example nomination.
Threat: Terrakion + Bisharp

Counter:

BALK (Azumarill) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 200 HP / 212 Atk / 96 Def
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall/Superpower
- Play Rough
- Superpower/Protect

Azumarill's typing and stats allow it to switch into Knock Offs, Close Combats and even Rock Slides with ease. Water and Fairy-type both kill Terrakion, and Bisharp gets slaughtered by Superpower. Alternatively, you can choose to run Protect, but Bisharp gives you a much harder time (you still 2HKO with Play Rough + Aqua Jet and LO recoil). The EVs ensure that it never gets KO'd by Close Combat + Iron Head.

(from the original thread)

you guys also have to write descriptions about how it counters the core

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off
- Play Rough

The standard Azumarill AV set but with Sap Sipper. Charizard's Solarbeam won't touch it, and Assault vest insures Azumarill tanks both of Charizard, and Keldeos special moves. Azumarill is then able to hit Charizard with his water STAB, or Keldeo with his fairy STAB.

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Rock Slide
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
What it does: Since Charizard or Keldeo cannot outspeed Scarf Garchomp, I decided it would be best for Chomp to have a scarf, allowing a guaranteed KO to Charizard with Rock Slide.

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
- Protect
- Tailwind/Quick Guard
What it does: Stronk burd comin 2 saev teh dai. Talonflame has the thing that other birds want, Priority Brave Bird. Since Keldeo lacks Quick Guard, Talonflame can easily one hit KO it and do an insane amount of damage to Charizard, which is going to die the next turn. Calc: 252+ Atk Life Orb Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 251-296 (84.2 - 99.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

piikaa edit: both of these pokemon are supposed to be together, for those who think that they are separate. im lookin at you arcticblast

burd doesn't really beat the core reliably. If it tries to KO either one, the other one just smacks it right back - Zard's Heat Wave will KO burd after it Brave Birds Keldeo.

Anyway, somebody else can actually post this because I can NEVER COME UP WITH A FUCKING EV SPREAD, but support Gyarados does a pretty good job at neutralizing this core. Icy Wind or TWave can be used to slow down both Pokemon, and Gyarados immediately threatens Charizard with Waterfall (which still does a fair amount of damage in Sun). Most attackers next to it can then finish the job - Salamence comes to mind, but most things will work fine.

Burd will easily KO Keldeo, while Garchomp backs up with a Zard KO, so either way, they both die.

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Protect
- Rock Slide
- Aerial Ace
- Aqua Tail
Adamant Aerodactyl in its base for outspeeds and OHKO's Keldeo
252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Aerodactyl Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 324-384 (100.3 - 118.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Then can live a hit and OHKO Y-zard
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Heat Wave vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Aerodactyl in Sun: 106-126 (35.2 - 41.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ Atk Mega Aerodactyl Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 508-600 (171 - 202%) -- guaranteed OHKO
You can even take a life orb hydro pump in the sun from keldeo.

Why is that 'core' chosen. They dont synergies too well when sun weakens pony's STAB. (also i wouldnt have slash's in the sets, just put one or another because certain pokes can beat them both if keldeo doesnt have Hydro Pump)

ik this specific keldeo does not have quick guard, but a fair amount of them do run quick guard so talon is not necesarilly a solid check to keldeo. it can force opp keldeo's to quick guard for multiple turns. this has the plus of artificially encoring the opponent, but also at the same time dedicating yourself to brave birding. it is good for locking down your opp, but you gotta keep in mind opp can switch in teammate to deal with talon as you keep brave birding.

also fun fact
252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 288-339 (96.9 - 114.1%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Light Screen
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Perish Song

Gothitelle @ Chesto Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Psyshock
- Protect
- Rest
- Trick Room

Plays like standard perish trap. Protect and Light screen with azumarill, then trick room and perish song. Protect stall the next turn and then rest. Switch out the next turn and keldeo/charizard are dead.

nomination period has now ended! for the next week, you can vote for your favorite nomination by bolding the name of the pokemon or core that you vote for.

I vote for fanly because latias is the closest thing to latios that was nominated

Latios is by far the most consistent overall Pokemon that stops this core dead (M-Aero does about an equal job at stopping them, but it's not as viable as Latios), which is what my idea of this thread is

anty wins with mega aero for week 1.

Week 2
Counter This Threat!
Skymin + Keldeo

Keldeo @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 24 HP / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump / Scald
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind / Quick Guard / Taunt
- Protect

Shaymin-Sky @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid / Modest Nature
- Seed Flare
- Air Slash
- Earth Power / Tailwind
- Protect

Thundurus (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunder Wave
- Protect

i dont think i have to explain this.

you can also use the bulky sitrus set if you're super worried about flinches.

Manectric-Mega (M) @ Manectite
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Discharge
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Overheat
- Protect

252 Spe Manectric-Mega out speeds both pokemon.
Discharge is an super effective spread move that gets boosted from STAB, 252 SpA EV and Nature and wont affect team mates.
Hidden Power is super effective on Shaymin along with Overheat providing a OHKO.
Protection is always important!

Landorus @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 SpD
Modest Nature
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Sludge Wave
- Protect

4 HP and 252 SpD are to make Landorus more bulky since it is and will be the slowest on the playing field. Any defense EV's are pointless.
Earth Power may only affect Keldeo but it gets boost from Item, Ability, 252 SpA EV, Nature and STAB.
Hidden Power Ice combats Shaymin and is super effective.
Sludge Wave is a great spread move that's super effective against Shaymin.
Since Landorus is the slowest of the bunch, he will need protect to keep him safe.
