darksoulSP vs penguin344, reffed by EndQuote (Tutor ref: tortferngatr)

I was going to wait for Darksoul to PM mons, but then I remembered he only has two Pokémon. That simplified things somewhat. Without further ado:
Still hoping for a newer opponent! :)

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to another fiery battle in CAP ASB!
To the east, our determined challenger, DARKSOUL! (Applause)
To the west, the fearless PENGUIN! (More applause)

Before we begin, let's meet the Pokémon the battlers have brought:

Darksoul's team:

Scyther [Shinobi] (Male)
Nature: Jolly (+15% Speed, + 34% Accuracy, -1 Sp Attack)

Type:
Bug: Bug STAB; More mobility in dense brush or forest conditions. Gain an extra guaranteed attack on multi-hit moves.

Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.

Abilities:
Ability 1: <Swarm>
Type: Innate

When this Pokemon’s HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any Bug-typed attack is increased by 2. (eg Silver Wind goes from 6 to 8, X-Scissor from 8 to 10)

Ability 2: <Technician>
Type: Innate

This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects.

DW (Locked): Steadfast

Type: Innate

If this Pokemon is flinched, it becomes aware of the speed difference and increases speed by one (1) stage to make up the difference. This speed boost is maintained at the end of each round.

Ability:
Flash Fire

This Pokemon thrives in high temperatures, and takes the energy of any opposing fire attack, nullifies the damage, and uses the additional power to boost its own fire attack’s Base Attack Power by two (2). Self-targeted attacks do not give the boost.

DW (locked): Drought

Type: Innate

When this Pokemon is sent out it summons blistering sunlight that scorches the field and does not end, expending 10% of its energy to do so. It can re-summon the effect mid-battle for 9% Energy with a command.

Flow of the match:
1. Darksoul sends out his first Pokémon, and chooses an ability.
2. Penguin sends out his first Pokémon, chooses an ability, and posts actions.
3. Darksoul posts his actions.
4. I ref, with Tortferngatr's help.
5. Darksoul's actions.
6. Penguin's actions.
7. More reffing, more help from Tortferngatr.
Rinse and repeat until we have a WINNER!

Darksoul, you're up!

Shinobi, it's time to shine! Let's get Technical with that great ability of yours (Technician). Let's show 'em what we're made of!

Dust Devil, show him your Guts out there.

First, kick up a Sandstorm. Next, find some rocks and use Rock Slide. Finally, do a Dragon Dance.

Ok Shinobi, let's Substitute (25) first. Then let's Double Team to REALLY confuse him and avoid that Rock Slide. Finally, let's give him a good Steel Wing!

I'm curious, does my Scythers major speed advantage factor into average accuracy of attacks or only if I order him to dodge? Sorry, first battle! :3

Darksoul, please specify an amount of clones to create with Double Team. (1-4)
Keep in mind that each clone costs 4 energy.

Scyther's plus-speed nature adds to the accuracy of his attacks, but does not subtract from the accuracy of incoming attacks.
However, Gible's minus-speed nature adds to the accuracy of incoming attacks.

You are correct in assuming that the faster the Pokémon, the better it dodges.
See the info here for more details on dodges and other moves.

EDIT: @Penguin, derp. *larvitar. Nice catch :)
@Darksoul, yes, the clones would attack with you.
I'll have the reffing up ASAP.

Round 1 Starts!
Aaaaaand we're back, ladies and gentlemen, to the first round of this fiery battle in the forest! Darksoul sends out Shinobi, his trusty Scyther, while Penguin sends out Dust Devil the Larvitar!

Shinobi starts off the match by creating a Substitute to take his place, and crouches behind it. Dust Devil ignores the bait and calmly stirs up a Sandstorm. The once-peaceful forest is now full of flying grit and sand!

Shinobi, looking very uncomfortable in the sandstorm, begins to zip back and forth, creating four Double Team clones. Dust Devil, however, is unfazed by Shinobi's evasive tactics, and calmly hits the real Shinobi with a powerful Rock Slide, battering Shinobi's Substitute and disrupting all his clones. However, the spread effect of the attack (in order to hit as many clones as possible in one sitting) weakens the damage to the point Shinobi's Substitute just barely survives.

The sandstorm is definitely taking a toll on Shinobi, but the Mantis Pokémon summons the strength to attack with Steely Wings. Larvitar is shaken from the blow, but manages to steel his nerves and Dance like a Dragon, preparing himself for the next round.

As the round winds to a close, the sandstorm rages on. Scyther is about fifteen feet away from Larvitar.

Alright Shinobi, we're still faster than the little devil, so let's Reversal it with that handy Technician of yours. Use your lowest HP Substitute if he broke it; if not, Steel Wing. Either way, let loose another good Technician Reversal!

Sorry, Darksoul. The reffing will be up ASAP, hopefully today. Odds are, I'll edit it into this post.
Thanks for being patient :)

And in case you're wondering, I've been the one busy with other matters-I can assure you that EndQuote is good and got the reffing done well w/in DQ. The reffing ought to be up today or tomorrow.

Sorry for the wait, gents. We're going to try to get these up a bit quicker from now on. Without further ado: Round two. (Rhymes, ftw)

Round 2 Starts!
As the sandstorm rages, Shinobi and Dust Devil eye one another, bracing themselves for the trials ahead.

Shinobi, eager for battle, and lunges forward with a powerful Reversal, sending Dust Devil flying! Dust Devil, still reeling from the blow, takes the opportunity to Stealthily set up pointed Rocks around Shinobi's side of the field. Shinobi eyes the rocks with concern, worrying about his teammate.

Shinobi, angry about the entry hazard, flips up and flies low across the ground to smack Dust Devil with powerful Wings of Steel! Dust Devil, wincing slightly, spins into a Dragon Dance, further boosting his offenses.

Shinobi, still being pummeled by the sandstorm, draws on all the damage he had taken for a second Reversal, even more powerful than the last. The Rock Skin Pokémon refuses to give up, and determinedly uses Rock Slide. His determination causes the move to strike critically and Shinobi's substitute is absolutely ripped to shreds!

Round 4 Starts!
As the sandstorm begins to die down, both Pokémon face off once more.

Shinobi, hoping to avoid more damage, zips back and forth to create four new Double Team clones! The five Scyther stare menacingly at Bruce. Undeterred, the Gible attacks the nearest with an Edge of Stone, but the clone merely dissipates.

While Bruce glances suspiciously at the remaining clones, Shinobi readies his next assault. Bruce, deciding on a target, unleashes a Flamethrower that vaporizes a second clone. Shinobi chuckles at the Gible's misfortune, then unleashes a double Aerial Ace combo that hits Bruce for serious damage! Both Pokémon are sent reeling! Shinobi, though battered and bruised, still looks like he has a little fight left in him as he cools down from the combo.

And cool down he does-to his loss. Gible correctly targets the real Shinobi with another Stone Edge, slamming through his chitinous hide to easily defeat him.

Darksoul recalls Shinobi as the sandstorm fades, and sends out his next Pokémon, Nicole the Vulpix! (...with a brief wince, as the pointed stones set up by Dust Devil earlier slam into her.)
