Deck Knight vs Venser

Definitely did not just accidentally post this in the Battle Tower Thread...
It's been a while, I need to stretch my legs now that I've gotten some work done.

2vs2 Singles
3 Day DQ
2 Recovery Moves and 5 Chills per Pokemon.

Arena: Solarium of the Giants

This truly massive arena is noteworthy not only for its scale, but its fine architecture. The room is a gigantic covered solarium with a ceiling that allows the sun to shine down on the beautiful alabaster floors. The room itself is circular and at least 200 feet in diameter, with a high ceiling of 100 feet. Slabs of finely crafted marble shapes encircle the arena with perfect symmetry, standing 20 feet apart.

The rough ground of the arena is vulnerable to seismic activity and can be dug through, but only by Pokemon with sufficient expertise. The floor material is indeed very hard. If a weather move is used it can affect the outside, however it will not have any internal effects (e.g. Rain Dance can block out the sun and diminish Solarbeam's effectiveness, but water moves will not increase power inside the Solarium, nor will Thunder benefit. Likewise, Sunny Day will boost Synthesis and benefit Solarbeam, but will not boost Fire-type attacks. Sandstorm and Hail will not work as field effects, as the arena is too large for any debris. Smaller scale uses with Pokemon-made Ice or Sand/Rubble can be used however.

Like the rest of the arena, the thickness of the glass in the solarium is upsized in scale. Attempts to break it will be futile, and the 100 foot climb will be quite draining.

It is fitting that I should lead with something gigantic!

And since Onix will be picking up a 6th EC for the match, I'll go ahead and expend 20% of its energy to evolve into Steelix. I've provided stats and attacks updates for Lord Jesseus below.

Abilities will naturally be Rock Head and Sturdy, as they're the only two I've unlocked.

Alright Will Powers, raise your head high into the sky and sneer at your opponent with a Taunt. Shroomish isn't that much faster, and its hard to shoot a Spore 25 feet into the air, plus whatever physical distance is already between you.

Then recede back away from Shroomish and use an Earthquake to shake up the arena and crease a little more rubble. We want to be careful because all those Spore particles are undoubtedly still around, and this will shake them up.

Finally, I want you to stay at your distance and whip up a little Sandstorm column. Capture some of the rubble and Spore particles in them and launch the attack into Shroomish, who will not only be buffetted by the rubble, but possible be the victim of his own attack.

Show him your Powers, Will!

Raise head high and Taunt ~ Recede back slightly and Earthquake ~ Sandstorm (column) rubble and Spore particles.

Deck Knight and Venser glare at each other from across the enormous solarium, each with the aid of a telescope. They can both see that their opponent is more intimidated by the room itself that the enemy trainer, but both of them intend to change that.
Deck Knight sends out his Pokemon first, the large snake like Rock Pokemon, Will Powers the Onix! But it doesn't stay that way for long; the large Pokemon gets longer and harder (...) as it evolves into a Steelix. Indeed Deck Knight is pulling out the big guns, perhaps for show, perhaps to feel more comfortable in this giant room or perhaps even to compensate for something else.
Whatever his motive, Venser does not share his ideals, sending out a tiny Shroomish named Turtle.

The two Pokemon begin running towards each other to initiate combat. However, due to the combination of a huge arena and very low speeds this takes quite a while, and the two trainers find themselves yawning by the time Turtle gets close enough to unleash a cloud of Spores. Or at least, that was the plan. But as Turtle draws near, he notices that Steelix hasn't actually moved at all, and has just been leering at him from a distance and calling him names (Shroomish? More like... POOmish!). Taunted and enraged, he gives up on the spore and goes in for a direct attack, but failing to close the distance he achieves nothing.
Shroomish continues the "Assault" running towards Steelix in rage but still achieving very little. Steelix meanwhile ignores all distance issues by shaking the whole building with a powerful Earthquake. The ground is sturdy but it is still broken up a little by the attack, resulting in a thin layer of rubble across most of the solarium.
Shaken but not stirred, Turtle finally closes the gap and begins focusing all his energy into whatever he uses as a fist. In an attempt to break his concentration, Steelix uses the recently formed rubble to conjure a collumnous Sandstorm which he fires as a pillar of debris at Shroomish. However, enraged as he is the swirling sands are insufficient to distract him, and Turtle unleashes a might Focus Punch at Steelix, who lands heavily on the ground.
Both trainers fall asleep due to the effects of each others yawns.
But not really.

Policy Thread has eaten my life.

Alright Will Powers, now its time to press our advantage.

Begin with Fire Fang, which should ignite whatever spores are left on Shroomish. Then launch a massive Iron Tail. Finish by sending a new friend out to play, using Dragon Tail!

Fire Fang ~ Iron Tail ~ Dragon Tail

All right, let's do this Turtle! He's forcing us into a tight spot, but I think we can recover nicely!

Take the Fire Fang (remember your effect spore) and then smash it up close with a Drain Punch. Drain Punch again regardless of whether or not Iron Tail hits, and finish with a Focus Punch

note: i'm assuming here that priority works as it does in-game, ie Dragon tail at -6 and focus punch at -3. If this isn't so, drain punch again.

Drain Punch ~ Drain Punch ~ Focus Punch / Drain Punch

I'm not too sure on that myself but it I'm going on the basis that it follows in game mechanics.

Will Powers slowly lifts his head off the ground ready to begin a new assault, but Turtle is still faster - perhaps no great achievement, but nonetheless the tiny shroom manages to get in a fierce fist under the jaw of the barely standing Steelix. However, during the Draining nature of the Punch, the attack actually pulls the monstrous pokemon towards his attacker, putting him in prime position to clamp down with a Fire Fang*.
Shroomish weathers the blow and in response delivers a second blow from his other "hand", another Drain Punch sapping at Steelix's health. Enraged, Will Powers attempts to strike Turtle with his hefty Iron Tail. Unfortunately for him, an Iron Tail is just that; it's long, heavy, and generally doesn't agree with gravity; Shroomish finds little challenge in avoiding the cumbersome attack.
After that, things seem to go into slow motion... or so it seems. In reality, the attacks each Pokemon decides to use are amongst the slowest in their respective arsenals, and with both competitors being slow to begin with it seems like minutes before Turtle's Focus Punch finally connects witha hefty whallop. Steelix is knocked about, but at least he manages to use the momentum of the attack to boost the speed of his own Dragon Tail, sending Shroomish Flying across the room (and he spent so long getting there before) and straight back into its ball.

Alright Will Powers, time to get crackin'.

Begin with Smack Down. Porygon2 is kind of floaty, so knocking it down to ground level will work wonders for us, not to mention completely botch its mobility.

Then use Earthquake.

Finish by holding Porygon2 in a Bind. If he wants to blow so much energy after Evolving, so be it. But he's not going anywhere next round.

Smack Down ~ Earthquake ~ Bind

Feeling a little down, Porygon2 finds himself stuck in rut, firing off an Ice Beam once again. This however turns out to be possibly the best rut ever, freezing the enormous Will Powers solid! Deck Knight's snake has never been harde... erm... I'll stop there.
Moving on, Triple Threat fails to live up to his nickname, using the same attack yet again. Taking careful aim at the frozen Steelix's head, the Ice Beam goes off without a hitch. However, the attack adds an extra thick layer off ice around the monsters titanium cranium, adding to thealready immense weight and pulling him down head first - smashing the ice upon landing!* Happy to be free, Steelix wraps his icy cold tail around the virtual virtuoso, Binding him in place.

Well Will Powers, not a great turn of events. But now that we've got Porygon2 in our grasp, lets keep it going.

Bind him up tighter around the neck to make it difficult to aim those beams he so loves. Use the center of your body to allow you to attck wuth both your head and tail. As long as you're putting the squeeze on him, Taunt to prevent his chicanery later. Finish up with Screech to weaken it further.

If Porygon2 is still able to Magic Coat your attacks while in your grasp, instead strike it with an Iron Tail.

Bind (shift P2 to center grasp, tighten around neck) ~ Taunt ~ Screech

If P2 can successfully use Magic Coat while bound, replace Taunt and Screech with Iron Tail.

looks like he's got us in a bit of a BIND, porygon (heh). Best think we can do is slam him with more beams!

Chill while he binds you. Follow up with an Ice Beam and finish with...another Ice Beam.

Having previously acted like a broken record, Porygon2 decides to pause for a bit, Chilling as Steelix wraps more tightly around him. Though Will Powers attempts to Bind his enemies neck with the middle of his body, he quickly finds that the middle segments of his body are as large as the whole of Porygon's, and simply crushes the whole lot.
From within his steely prison the broken record resumes playing, as Porygon2 desperately fires yet another Ice Beam, hoping to escape. He achieves quite the opposite however; freezing the entirety of Steelix's midsection, the poor pink construct finds himself in a tomb if ice and iron. Fortunately, though technically able to move, Mr Powers finds he hs lost the Will to battle, allowing Triple Threat to escape as the fainted Steelix is returned to its ball.

I accidentally wrote more than I needed to. The second freezing (freeze hax oh god) actually happened in the third action, but it seemed cooler and otherwise ineffectual to do it this way.
Fun facts! Steelix would have broken out of the ice immediately, and the second Ice Beam took exactly enough Hp to finish him.

Well Rook, this is a tough spot, but I know you can pull though.

Poryon2 should still be stuck on the ground courtesy of Steelix's Smack Down, so why don'y you try your hand at trapping it now. Since Sandstorm is still up, Begin with Sand Tomb. Whirl Porygon2 around and around so it it doesn't have a chance to aim, then while you're maintaining that, siphon off its energy with Mega Drain and hit it with Razor Leaf.

Sand Tomb ~ Mega Drain ~ Razor Leaf

With Will Powers out of the action, Deck Knight sends out something more reasonably sized to replace him.

Being a little on the turtly side of the speed spectrum, Rook finds himself quickly outflanked by Porygon2, who uses his favourite move of the day - Ice Beam! Turtwig takes the force of the attack but stands his ground, and using the swirling sands around him puts his opponent into a Sand Tomb. Though not unfamiliar with being trapped, Porygon finds a certain sickening spinning motion to be unappealing.
Realising he may have some aiming difficulties, Triple Threat finally decides to try a new strategy, living up to his name with Tri Attack! Three coloured balls connected as a triangle spiral out from Porygon2's wildly spinning body. The red and yellow coloured balls miss completely, however the blue ball manages to connect, fluking a critical hit!. The tiny turtle mantains focus however as it uses its powers to suck the life right out of his opponent and into him, the Mega Drain effortlessly working on the disorientated enermy.
Porygon2, perhaps unsatisfied by the result of his previous attack, resorts to old tactics, firing an Ice Beam once again. His rotation causes the beam to act in a sweeping motion, covering much ground (though with less power), and Turtwig struggles to avoid it, taking a weakened hit. In response Rook utilises the first thing he can come up with off the top of his head, which just so happens to be leaves, fired as a Razor Leaf attack.
The sandstorm subsides, freeing Porygon2 from his tomb but leaving him slightly confused.

Second Ice Beam was taken to be 4 base power.
Tri Attack was full damage/3

Well Rook, this isn't over yet.

Begin by getting some of your HP back with Mega Drain.

Then throw all your might into a Tackle + Superpower combo. The extra velocity on the strike should overwhelm our curved friend.

If Porygon2 is successfully able to Recover the first or second action, break off the combo and use Superpower and another Mega Drain.

Mega Drain ~ Tackle + Superpower

If Porygon2 successfully uses Recover on the first or second action, use Superpower ~ Mega Drain as your second and third actions.

Start with a Recover. If it works, Ice Beam twice. If it doesn't, Ice Beam.

Porygon2, starting to feel like he's the "broken"in "broken record" kicks things off by debugging and trying to Recover lost data, restoring HP. Figuring this isn't a bad idea, Rook decides to steal some of his opponents recovered health with Mega Drain.
Gaps still in hisprogramming, Porygon2 finds himself unable to function properly and simply glitches up in confusion. Seeing this as an opportunity, Rook goes all-out, summoning latent Superpowers to absolutely whallop Porygon2, invalidating his earlier recovery, though also leaving Rook weak and vulnerable on the Physical side.
Nothing going right, Triple Threat activates an emergency reboot, and quickly returning to a mostly unimpaired level of fuction fires a predictable but still hurtful Ice Beam. Rook takes the hit and strikes back with another Mega Drain.

Alright Rook, excellent work.

Finish this up before Porygon2 can Recover with another Superpower. If it somehow survives, use a Swords Dance and Superpower again. It might leave you weak, but Porygon2 is in a similar rut.

Porygon2 goes into screensaver mode to conserve power but is sent almost immediately offline by Turtwig's Superpower, a checkmate from Rook. It does however leave him a little weak.
