Diplomacy Again Winter 1914 - Bass (France) wins!

Who knows why? It could have been desparation, need to survive, or something else entirely. It happened simultaneously, so England could have gotten word of France's plans. Of course, it could have gone the other way, I'll grant that.

EDIT: Oh, and I found this Global Message:
From England: To answer some questions about my actions, I subbed in and decided my predecessor's strategy was not in my best interests, so I decided to start a clean slate, of sorts. My sudden change in personality and policy is all from that.

That is ... interesting.

I don't see Switzerland being taken anytime soon - they are in a strong position. Any neighbour should seek an alliance with what seems to be a ruthless player who won't let that last Supply Center go.

From England: Russia, you crossed me by invading Norway. I never said you double-crossed me.

From France: VROOOOM

From England: These are some of my predecessor's communications with France, both to and from"

from France to my predecessor:
Hey England. It's me, France!

Since this is anonymous and all, I can't assess your skill level or anything... but I can say that based on the past three Diplomacy games held on this site, England and France relations were not so good.

As a firm believer in Anglo-French relations, I suggest that we change this reputation. Instead of needless 1901 fighting, we should try supporting each other for a change. I have not fully decided my 1901 moves, but I can assure you that I have no plans on attacking you. If you don't mind, please reply to this message so we can discuss opening strategies in further detail.

----------------------------------------
What is the meaning of F Lon -ENG? You have some explaining to do! I thought we were friends :(. We must also discuss more about Belgium.

Further conversations clearly show that France was allied with the old England, and thought me to be the old England. We may note that France stabbed me in Fall 1902, after France had befriended my predecessor. Clearly a backstab. I had not yet been revealed to be a sub-in. I freely acknowledge that as soon as I subbed in, I turned and allied with my one-time enemy and present ally, Germany to stab France. I did only what was necessary to maximize my survival (If France had waited ONE TURN, I might have been able to pull of a guaranteed survival). Oh, well. So, yes, France IS a backstabber, though he already expressed disinterest in allying with Germany, isn't in much of a position to offer Italy anything, and cannot ally with me, so I'm not entirely sure why I'm bothering...

From England: I know this is a lot of global messages, and I'm sorry for that, but I sent these as they came to me. I present to you now the proof that my stab of France in Fall 1902 was in self-defense.
Earthworm said:
From France: Then why did you disobey the orders I suggested you? Were you too daft to see the OBVIOUS Russian stab? Did you not figure that Germany only moved the way he did because Russia TOLD him to stand off with you?

Regardless of your actions, you are almost certainly doomed. Had you did what I suggested, this would not be the case, and I would never consider stabbing you.

If you can, talk to me live before you send your Fall orders.
This message was back when only Earthworm and I knew that I was a sub-in. All of my fight with France is self-defense.

It is now Fall 1904. Fall 1904 ends in 48 hours.

England seems saved because now France will have to cover all of his centers to protect himself from Germany. However, I guess Germany now has to push some of his units back as well due to Russia's offensive.

Heh, I don't know what you guys are talking about but this game looks like it can last forever in a tug of war until The Queen, Das Boot and Mother Russia all fall. I predict a Turkey win at this rate.

At this rate, with no Russian interference, Turkey will be able to grow out its tentacles and wrap up Russia, Italy and the Mediterranean with ease and thus set up a possible stalemate line.
