He chose to use a less seedy approach to building Mega Venusaur, which I appreciated. Apart from that, Torkoal packs a lot of heat, and Celesteela is metal as always - really cool choice of second attacking move there. I think his Tapu Fini set doesn't really hold water, but it's an interesting choice nonetheless. Then we have the two TR setters, Hoopa and Diancie, which really bound and cemented the team together. Great team overall!

Voting is now closed, congratulations to Kaori for winning this round! His team and description will be added to the Hall of Fame. As for the next round...

After experiencing a surge in usage during Phase 2 of Smogon Snake Draft, Mega Scizor has emerged as a flexible threat capable of picking off the opposition with Technician Bullet Punch and munching on the common Mago berries to heal itself up with Bug Bite. With many other options with its moveset including Knock Off, Tailwind, Swords Dance, Roost, and U-turn, it is capable of molding its moveset to fit the team's needs. Still, Fire-types pose an obvious threat to Mega Scizor, and it often finds itself walled by opposing Steel-types, which are found on basically every team. Due to its somewhat recent introduction to the spotlight of Doubles OU, it's down to you to find a new way to help it shine!

EDIT: At Hashtag's request, I've opened this up to also allow submissions with regular Scizor. The two Pokemon have fairly similar niches, and I'm treating it as Scizor simply using an item other than its Mega stone.

Deadline for submissions is Thursday, October 19th at 11:59pm EST!

This is the team I built for my sdt sm semifinals game vs stax. So I started with ludicolo + marshadow cause talking with akaru kokuyo we thought this could break most of the tapu fini balanced cores I expected for this game, pelipper is mandatory for rain and it also gives speed control and a slow uturn to the team. Then I added lando to have intimidate support and a check to tapu koko, AV set was chosen for extra longevity.
Tapu koko is probably one of the best tapus on rain and i needed it in order to have a better match up vs tapu fini, AV set is pretty cool on this team because with sky drop and nature madness you can make some good combinations. Specially with sky drop I get some free turns for scizor to sd and it also gives me the option of targeting a trick room setter and on the same turn send something which would ko it since it can't protect next turn.
For the last slot I lacked both a mega and a steel type, I didn't like mega metagross on this team because I felt kinda weak to ferrothorn and trick room. Mega scizor helps with that and also gives me a strong priority move, roost was chosen to beat some steel types such as ferrothorn and no flamethrower celesteela 1v1.

This is the team I used in snake draft phase 2 against Biosci. Miltankmilk, Kaori, and I had all been liking Mega Scizor, so I started with Tyranitar Fini Scizor Zapdos. This core worked pretty well together since everything appreicated Heal Pulse/Misty Terrain support from Fini and Tailwind support from Zapdos. I went with my tried and true Chople Ice Beam Tyranitar set to have a reliable check to non Groundium Landorus and Mega Salamence, as well as other stuff like Zard and Gengar. Fini was a simple double STAB + Heal Pulse set, and Zapdos is a more offensive version of my original seed spread that I got from miltankmilk. Scizor has some relevant speed stat that I really can't recall right now, then max attack and HP dump. After this core was set, I wanted a rock resist and still needed a Z move, so Marshadow was a pretty easy choice. Went with special AV Landorus as a final Pokemon because Intimidate is always nice and I needed another check to Heatran and I didn't want to mess with Grassy Terrain/Intimidate limiting damage output. HP Ice is also underrated as an option on Lando and gives you consistent damage output against other Lando and Mence.

This was the team I used in Phase 2 of Snake vs Biosci. As Bowman mentioned, the Mega Zor circlejerk had just formed and we were all quite excited to use this mon. Basic idea of this team was to win with fast Scizor in tailwind. Zor is EVd to be faster than the steamy one (modest). Bowman explained the zap ev's a bit but i just modified an old set to hit a jump point in spatk. AV scrafty made a nice pivot on a team that Lando-t didn't feel great on. Waterium Volc was Bowman's creation that I stole and used. I used scald fini just for accuracy and then I had CB zygarde which I think is the only viable set in a meta infested with marshadow, fini and Lando-t.

MajorBowman won a while ago, just forgot about this :x Will update the Hall of Fame right after posting this, but right now it seemed more important to get the next round started. Speaking of which...

We're celebrating the newest re-addition to the Viability Rankings, Rotom-Wash! A solid typing gives it the ability to take hits from 3/4 of Tier 1, but Rotom-W sometimes struggles with being a momentum sink. Thousand Arrows and the commonness of Kyurem-B also prevents its Levitate-granted Ground-immunity from coming in handy as often as it could last gen. Still, Z-Moves have given Rotom-W the ability to deal reliable damage without the fear of missing, and given that it checks Tapu Fini so well, Rotom-W is one of the few Pokemon in the tier that can get away with running status moves. Other options like Electroweb and Choice Scarf give it some degree of flexibility, so let's see what teams you can come up with to show why Rotom-W deserved its restoration.

Submissions will close Friday, November 3rd at 11:59pm EST!

Rotom-W was a mon I liked alot back in ORAS so I thought this would be good time to try it in SM. I thought Diancie+Rotom-W seemeed cool with wash being ground immune, beating Lando and providing speed control. I added Lando for Intimidate which I feel is really good on all Diancie teams to help beat Marsh and it also helps beat steels. I chose Bulu as my Tapu as it was the only one I felt worked really well with Diancie and Rotom-W without overlapping stuff and it allowed me to make a fwg core with Volcarona. I didnt have any ice-coverage and my team wasnt too fast so I thought Gene would work well as a steel here. Lastly I have Volcarona which was originally Heatran, but I thought I could use another fast mon and would work well on this team with Thunder Wave and Intimidate support.

I hadn't built Diancie at all in SM yet, so I decided to use it against Jhon in Snake Draft. Bulu is a pretty good partner for Diancie, as it makes Diancie's Landorus matchup a bit better by allowing it to stomach an Earthquake. Since I was using Bulu as more of a terrain bot and less of a sweeper, I went with AV to give it a bit more longevity. Megahorn was Kaori's idea and is just nice for picking off Hoopa-U, which Wood Hammer can't do at -1 or outside of terrain. Volcarona is an interesting mon in SM, not a big fan generally but Diancie and Bulu both appreciate a solid fire type to plow through Ferrothorn, and HP Ground Volcarona also provides another soft check to Heatran. Ferrothorn was an easy pick because let's be real it's stupid good. Since I already had Grassy Terrain, I went with a more offensive EV spread that would always OHKO bulky Tapu Fini with Power Whip in terrain. Stealth Rock helped punish fire types that might want to switch in on Bulu or Ferrothorn and was just generally helpful for chip damage. Volcarona and Diancie both appreciate free turns and Intimidate, so Scrafty was another easy choice. Figy Berry > AV because Taunt is really good and Figy can be more useful than AV in a lot of situations. At this point, I wanted a water type to complete the team's defensive backbone, and thought some speed control and another check to Salamence would be nice. Thunder Wave Rotom Wash fit the bill perfectly, and performed really well on this team even though Mizuhime tried her hardest to convince me not to use it.

I've been noticing that most balance-oriented teams as of recent use either Tailwind Zapdos or AV Icy Wind Kyurem-B as their speed control tech, so I decided I'd try AV Rotom-W as a compromise between those two options. I've been pleasantly surprised with the results. The given Rotom-W spread always outspeeds max Spe Timid Pelipper to ensure you Thunderbolt/Electroweb it before it sets Tailwind. Assault Vest allows Rotom-W to tank Kingdra's attacks long enough to Electroweb it, simply resist/ignore Swampert's attacks for the rain-boosted Hydro Pump in retaliation, and not insta-die to Ludicolo's Giga Drain. Hidden Power Fire is the given coverage move for Rotom-W because Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn are both trendy rn, and HP Fire puts in decent work against both. Thunderbolt and Hydro Pump do STAB coverage things like you'd expect. Electroweb does Kyurem-B Icy Wind things without being Kyurem-B. Aside from the AV Rotom-W set, this is your basic Mega TTar team with Amoonguss to help support DD setup and Scarf Lele to beat down Marshadow. Volcanion is an extra layer of defense against Rain teams and Mega Scizor, and Waterium Z Volcanion hits like a truck, so...
