Hey guys, i'm back! It's been about a week since my last Warstory, and it's starting to edge off the first page, so I guess it's time for a new one! (This one took a hell of a long time to do, but I definitely think it was worth the effort.) This marks my second week of competitive battling, and i've got to say i'm really loving it.

My team's players havent changed since my last Warstory, but some moves and EV's have. It's been working rather well lately, and i'd like to give a quick shout-out to Delko and the other people who are helping me with my RMT right now. More comments and advice are still welcome, as always.

Eon King sent out Celebi (lvl 100 Celebi).
Felerial sent out Swampert (lvl 100 Swampert ?).

Great, my worst enemy in opposing leads. Half the time they leaf storm, and half they time they place Stealth Rocks. I don't want to lose Swampert this early in the fight at all, so i'll play it safe and switch in my Skarmory to threaten Celebi.

Felerial switched in Skarmory (lvl 100 Skarmory ?).

Bleh, always fun to know if I wasn't so afraid of Leaf Storm I could have gotten my Stealth Rocks down. Ah well. Better to be safe than sorry. Swampert plays a large role on my team and it's better not to gamble him this early on. Now that Skarmory is out, it can do some very mean damage to Celebi. He wont want that, so I predict a U-turn is coming. Even though I have no hazards down yet, I decide to Whirlwind. The plan is to find out his Skarmory counter, and WW to an unknown poke and hopefully reveal some vital part of his team.

Well, that kinda worked. He has a Heatran waiting in the wings, but my WW just brings Celebi back out. I'm guessing he's going to U-Turn again. Instead of repeating the whole process of the last turn, I can get my Stealth Rocks up now, so Swampert comes back in.

So, he has a Skarmory too. I can't threaten it at all with Swampert, but he can't really threaten me either. He's probably going to get 2 Layers of spikes in for this, but I really need SR to help me win. Oh well. He doesn't know my team has 4 Ground Immunities yet!

Just my luck, I phaze in another already revealed poke, thats 2 out of 2. Sigh. I see he's got Leftovers, so that eliminates Choice and LO Tran and my fear of an HP Grass. He's either got a Sub Tran or a Torment Tran. I'll just use EQ to get some damage in on a switch, because I really doubt he's staying in. If he does, its most likely going to be a free KO for me, or a free 25%.

He protects to scout my move, and a quick check of the Strategy Dex tells me it's a Torment Tran. There is no doubt in my mind he's going to switch out now probably expecting me to try the EQ again. He'll bring in a levitate, or more likely in my mind, his Celebi. I don't want to expose too much of my team yet so i'll switch to my Skarmory again to hopefully get some spikes down while threatening Celebi out.

Here comes Lava Plume, or a Sub. No real reason to risk a Whirlwind this early, but it'll suck if he gets the Sub up, so I'll go to my fail proof Heatran counter.

Protect? I guess he was confident I'd whirlwind, but then, why wouldn't he Lava Plume me? He could be running Taunt over Lava Plume, but then he could have Taunted Skarm as well. I don't really know what he was thinking there, but I get a good opportunity to set-up here, so you're damn sure i'll use it.

Well, so much for setting up. Well played by Eon King. Waterfall would only do 44%-52% damage, and i'd get OHKO'd in return with either T-Bolt or Discharge. He might figure me to be greedy since I got the DD off and go for an attack, so i'll go to Swampert to nullify the attack. If he subs I can just Roar him out regardless.

Bleh, Rotom burns me and cuts my Earthquake damage in half. I get the Roar off and reveal..... Heatran. -.-;; Well, it's not all that bad. Even with burn gimping Swampert, Heatran is still easily within OHKO Range. He'll probably switch out, not wanting to eat an EQ to the face, meaning I can probably switch for free, but that's pretty obvious. I'll just opt for the simpler, safer move for the time being. Neither of us really have too much momentum going at the moment, and I don't want to tip it in his favor right now with a bad switch.

I should have seen that coming a mile away, and I get to lose 6% while he gains 6%. I guess he's going to switch out now, since he got his free Leftovers recovery. He can go with Celebi or Skarmory pretty safely. I'll send out my already revealed Gyara since he's a safe use against both.

He picks Skarm, and I can't help but arm pump in real life. Thanks to the kind people that commented on my RMT of this team, i've changed my Offensive DD Gyara to a Bulky DD Variant running Taunt. You can see why i'm happy then, right? Skarmory is pretty much the premier pokemon you want to Taunt (aside from Blissey), and he doesn't know I have it yet. My widest grin of the match ensues. =D

Taunt goes off without a hitch. Squeeeeee! Alright alright, i'll calm down. I just really love when fun moves go completely according to plan. Cmon, you know you love it too! Back to business though, he can switch in Rotom again. It used Discharge on Swampert, and according to the Strategy Dex its a Defensive variant. An unboosted waterfall to the face would only do 22-26% to it, but I would finally lather some damage onto that threat. Eh, in the off chance he doesn't switch, or brings in Celebi, i'll just go for the DD here and see what comes of it.

Remember when I said I recently changed my Gyarados to the Bulky DDer recommended in my RMT? Yea, I did it about an hour before this match happened. When I got my second DD off, I pretty much though this match was over, I was god, and I was going to smite the rest of his team into oblivion. I attacked Celebi, assuming i'd be able to do 64%, and even if I didn't, I wouldn't expect Leaf Storm to do over half to a Bulky Gyara. Right? ........Right?

Unless Gyarados says no. Ugh. At least he roars back in my Scarfgar! I've changed mine up for just this situation though. My least used move on Scarfgar is Focus Blast. Focus Blast has also missed 12/15 times for me. So I replaced it. With what you ask? With TRICK! And who likes coming into Scarfgar to laugh at him? That's right, Blissey!

There you have it folks! My closest battle to date! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! In Shoddy Battle 2, this match would have been a draw, so grats to Eon King on this as well. I know this was a long read, so I won't add anything else. Cheers!

PS. If you find any typos/errors, please let me know through PM so I can ninja fix them. Thanks!

EDIT: For those of you who want to use my Warstory as an example of how Salamence is broken, keep reading.

If you replace Salamence with Dragonite in this match (and in fact, with the same set and EV spread, Dragonite would have done everything the same and netted all the same kills.) He would have outsped the opponents Salamence outsped too. Dont really see how that's broken unless you're saying Dragonite is broken too. Hell, ScarfTar would have done a better job just spamming Stone Edge at the end. I didn't use Salamence until the very end, so there was no tiptoeing around it, etc. Lots of pokes could have done a BETTER job than Salamence in this fight, and saying that isn't the case is just ignorant.

I agree with Uberiffic that he was clearly not experienced with abusing Torment Tran. That said, this was a great warstory. I particularly like how it showcased the effectiveness of entry hazards/phazing, even when using a team as offensive as yours. It was also fun that his team used both Celetran and Skarmbliss.

Of course, on the downside, this warstory was yet another example of Salamence's power. You basically just waited until the lategame, when his team was naturally weakened, and just clobbered your way straight home. This is just the sort of battle that really justifies a suspect test.

Very good warstory. Both you and your opponent misplayed a few times but the comments were good and the battle was exciting. Edit: Could we not turn every warstory with a fucking Salamence in it into a "is salamence broken" debate please thanks.

While true, I was just showing how trying to turn this warstory into a "zomg Mence is OP" war is completely asinine. Enjoy the warstory for what it is, lol.

Edit: Now that I think about it, Wallbreaker Dragonite would have been awesome for this fight. I wouldn't have had to lock myself into outrage and could have decisively ended the fight. Oh well.

What I want to know is why he switched in Gyara before Skarm >_> Unless there was some hidden benefit to making sure Skarmory only took 13% instead of 20-30%, I don't know why he wasted his Gyarados like that (even if it was a RestTalk). Just found that odd.

Otherwise another great read! I hope you keep producing better battles and better reads! Something else I wanted to throw in there but damn I forgot.

Yea, If I did a Props Slops list, Scizor definitely would have been the slop for not doing anything other than one pursuit. That was my fault as the battler though. Scizor has definitely proven a lot of worth in many other battles ^_^

Another great Warstory! I agree that the opponent didn't play Torment Heatran well at all, but the rest of the battle was still good. Your comments were great, too.

2 things, though, that threw me off a bit:
    1) I thought that Scarfgar ran Trick often...
    2) How is Outrage from Salamence, even at -2, going to do only 11-14% to any non-Steel?! Running the New MixMence calc (about as low as you'll get Atk) on BulkyGyara, you do over 30% at -2. Anyway, it doesn't really matter; just a bit of unnecessary drama. But drama is good, in the appropriate amount that you have!

    Nice job.

Great warstory. Some of your move choices were pretty poor (Why did you EQ Celebi? 2+ Waterfall does more damage. And even then, why didn't you just switch)

    Comments were nice though.

Why did you let Blissey weaken your Skarm like that? He's doing a constant 30% each turn, so you can just roost up continuously and THEN WW, instead of letting him get you down to 22%. Oh, and you can know if LO is going to kill you by taking 1/10th of your HP off, rounded down. So there was no question of whether you would have survived that last turn, as you could look it up.

    1) Smogon set doesn't have Trick as an option for scarfgar whatsoever, and I haven't ever seen a trick gengar personally other than my own.
    2) Yea, so apparently when doing the calc I put -4 Atk and -2 SPA, hah. Made it all the more exciting though =p

Read the comment, stupidity on my part. And I just found out that apparently switching pokes on the Damage calcs doesn't reset the boosts, so when I thought I had +2 in there, I didn't.

I could have done that, and probably should have. Heat of the moment I guess.

    <3 you all.

Presentation was excellent, commentary was very decent, and the battle itself was good, and even got pretty exciting towards the end. All in all a good read and a great warstory. However as was mentioned, there were a couple misplays on both sides, but I'm sure everyone's willing to cut you some slack considering how new you are at this. And on that note it's pretty amazing how good you are already, I mean is this seriously just your second week battling? At your current pace you'd be a damn fine battler with a couple months of experience under your belt. :)
