...I'm not sure you're reading my posts, lol. (Re)read my first post explaining why that isn't a good idea (Regice and Metagross are now bigger threats), and read where I've said a few times now that Fake Tears doesn't help Latios or Luke set up, which is absolutely vital to the success of the team.

Ive read your post a couple of times. I meant that i dont change any move form your team. I hope i can break my 111 record with your new team.
Watch out for Fling pokes and pokes like the Mismagius that use Imprison against Lucario. They could ruin your fun.

I'm confused by this since Fake Tears would further the goal against anything lacking Clear Body/etc. Maybe not as efficiently because both sweeper pokemon use Calm Mind but being able to set up a Sub and not having it break against a special attacker has to be worth something.

Fine whatever sue me. I glanced at veekun's list of pokemon that learn Switcheroo which obviously isn't going to show Smeargle.

How does lowering the opponenents special defense help create subs that are difficult to break? You think Fake Tears lowers special attack, don't you?

I think he means. In all that 100s of pokemon you met there are a few on which you cant Calm Mind up. In that case its really usefull that the have -2 (or more) spdeff so you can KO them with less CM's.

Nowhere did he mention a spdef drop. He talked about the difficulty in breaking a sub, which is key to the strategy, which is related to offense. I can't say anything that Jumpman hasn't already covered, in detail. I'm finished with this.

Ok. I've been able to face both types so far in my run, and if Mismagius leads it gets locked in to Imprison first turn and lets me set up Latios, and if it comes out with Lucario set up it is slower and dies to Dark Pulse since I always try to get Luke in Salac range if I'm setting it up in the first place.

Of the Fling pokes: Muk would be a jerk if it randomly Exploded after being Charmed on Turn 2 but my experience has taught me that in DP pokes don't Explode unless they've lost more than half their HP (nor would they in Emerald, though in RS the AI seemed to choose moves at random). Marowak's a child without its Thick Club, Ampharos is walled by Latios anyway, Toxicroak likely uses Taunt first every time (which is somewhat of a problem in itself but I can just switch, I've only faced this once and it Taunted), and Snorlax? Well, for a quick "warstory":

    SEXY CAN I used Switcheroo!
SEXY CAN I switched items with its foe!
SEXY CAN I obtained one Iron Ball. SNORLAX obtained one Choice Scarf.
The foe's SNORLAX used FLING! The foe's SNORLAX flung its Choice Scarf!

I was a little startled by this since I expected Curse since that's the one I see like 90% of the time, but when I check its moveset I realize it can't do that much to me even with Last Resort if I Charm it.

    -----

    SEXY CAN I used CHARM!
The foe's SNORLAX's Attack harshly lowered!
    The foe's SNORLAX used YAWN!
    SEXY CAN I became drowsy!

    Ok whatever, I'll just switch

    -----

    JumpXVI withdrew SEXY CAN I!
    JumpXVI sent out unban me!
    The foe's SNORLAX used YAWN!
    unban me became drowsy!

    "Ok whatever, I'll just switch"

    -----

    JumpXVI withdrew unban me!
JumpXVI sent out SEXY CAN I!
    The foe's SNORLAX used YAWN!
    SEXY CAN I became drowsy!

    lol

    -----

Ok, a couple things...how was Toxicroak faster than Lopunny on Turn two if it doesn't have Speed EVs and you correctly EVed Lopunny? That's literally impossible since only one Toxicroak has Taunt and it doesn't have and Speed EVs.

And how did Latios use Calm Mind on Turn 4 if it switched into Taunt on Turn 3?

And how does a 173 Attack Toxicroak (252EVs, Adamant) OHKO the 156HP/96Def Latios (assuming 4 HP EVs) you're using, when it only does 71-84% with Sucker Punch without a CH you somehow forgot to mention?

You are either grossly misremembering or you are full of shit and need to stop posting in this thread, as if you need to prove to me that Fling pokemon and Imprison Mismagius you mentioned are problems for my team. I don't know if you posted that before or after you allegedly had that battle but it doesn't matter because there's no way you didn't make at least part of it up. What do you even have to say for yourself?

That was a list of all the Battle Tower trainers and the Pokemon they used. This was from the same site that originally provided the Battle Tower Pokemon movesets so the numbers correspond to the Battle Tower Pokemon list. The problem was the trainer names were in Japanese and useless to people who weren't using the Japanese game. Determining the English names of all of the trainers was a bit too much work but just doing it for the 100 trainers you can face beyond Battle 49 in the Battle Tower I could do.

There are three major types of trainers:
-Trainers who specialize in certain types
-Trainers that only have one moveset per Pokemon
-Trainers that just use Legendary Pokemon

The exceptions to these types are:
-PI (aka Gambler) who spams OHKO, Explosion and Destiny Bond
-Idols who only use the Starters.
-Idols who only use Eevee evolutions.
-Dragon Trainers who use Dragons and "Dragon Like" Pokemon (Skarmory is totally "Dragon Like" >_>)

For shorter streaks, this information probably isn't too useful. But for those aiming to break 330, it might be useful to know your opponent's moveset before they make a move. =D

    hax...I mean you rock TRE

I´ve tried to accomplish something similar in emerald, but I got tired....at least the frontier max stats database was somewhat finished

putting both the link to your post and the other one in the first post...I´m probably gonna rewrite the second one for personal use, because I don´t like the moveset numbers and my moveset list looks like this

these are lv.50 stats for quick dmg calcs (although the personalities of the tower pokémon being random to an extent plus the fact that IVs are lower than 31 up to battle 56 or 63 makes this a bit inaccurate) and the word document/printed version originally has this info in brackets so it doesn´t look that messy, plus I´ve switched the order of some attacks in the movesets to be able to find the right moveset as fast as possible (the same moves are in the same column, for example check rock slide on aerodactyl or type of moves on abomasnow first grass, then ice )...actually I could put this under the record lists into the first post, Y/N?

EDIT: I did...I believe that´s like the longest first post in smogon history

EDIT2: seriously Carl you´re a cool user but your avatar hurts my eyes...I´m not epileptic but still :/

Fuck, I was wrong on the internet! Yes, that was the assumption I was working under. My apologizes for derailing the thread, etc. Fake Tears is pretty useless if it's not lowering special attack.

Anyway, TRE that is a great compilation of information and definitely useful.

    Just a quick question:

to obtain the star for your trainer card, do you have to have an 100-win streak in the single battle mode of BT, or can it be any mode?

Double Battle Tower works as well. The other modes probably work as well to obtain the 100 win star, but I can't test to make sure.

Whatever. I played the tower again with your team and this time it took me to 110, which is pretty nice for me since i now have an golden trainer card. Thanks for putting this team online.

I died with a littlebit of hax.

Peterko: For the WiFi records, are you listing the highest rank achieved or highest rank beaten? Because I recently reached rank 10 using my latest team, but I haven't played in a rank 10 room yet. To my understanding, the rank info doesn't change in the monitor after beating rank 10, right? What's to say I can't submit a photo showing that I'm at rank 10 and claiming I've cleared rank 10, when in actuality, I've beaten only rank 9? /serious business

Speaking of which, I need to find a camera to prove that I got there...<_<

P.S. My longest streak in the WiFi tower is 28

LGY as I don´t have wi-fi and haven´t played the wi-fi tower yet, I´m not able to answer all your questions, maybe someone else could.

I assume the record window shows the highest rank you´ve achieved not which you beat and the highest streak of...all? or only the record rank streak?

I´m gonna put you on the list with rank: 10, streak: 28...unless someone objects because the streak record works differently (?)

How did I lose? To be honest, I am actually glad to say that my loss was 100% due to an error rather than a flaw in the team. I'm not even too upset right now, like at all...but I guarantee I will be somewhere in between 1-268 as I resume another streak because in hindsight it was a pretty elementary mistake.

Lead Aggron, 100% Switcheroo territory. It uses Stone Edge which I never like to see, not because it's a high CH move but because it has a measly 5 PP that never let me set up. So I PAR it and Charm as well, twice for good measure though in hindsight I probably shouldn't have Charmed twice. Anyway, it kills Lopunny with about its Stone Edge...I didn't feel like switching Lucario into a possible CH but that directly contrasts with the strategy I have to employ with Lucario against Rock and Bug attacks: let them CH at least once so Lucario has a better chance of getting into Salac range. Because, as I've made clear, I need to set up either Latios or Luke, and a Luke without Salac activated is almost suicide. Kind of makes me wish I could fit Agility on Luke somehow but it'd have to go over Sub, which is not going to happen with STAB Ice Beam and Meta's MM being as threatening as they are.

But whatever, I bring out Luke and CM naked so my third Sub will put me into Salac range, and Aggron takes me to 133/143 with its last SE. I continue to CM naked as it Struggles...and I know now that I actually want it to CH at least once because I don't think I'm going to get into Salac Range. I have to Sub when it's at 25% and I'm at around 65% in case its HP is divisible by four and I'm naked against the next poke. It stays alive though with 1% and I finish it off with Dark Pulse. Out comes...Garchomp. I'm very familiar with the Focus Sash set, but I also know one has Roar (though I've faced it maybe once ever and it only got a Dragon Pulse off maybe). I know full well that it's faster, but that if I Sub it could Roar and I'd lose my boosts and have to face the last poke unboosted with Latios. The problem with my logic is that I thought that if it were the Focus Sash variant it would still kill me even if I preemptively Subbed, which obvioiusly to me now wouldn't have been the case since it would have broken my Sub as I subbed into Salac range, and then I would have had a Sub and been faster to definitely beat it with the +3 Aura Sphere even if it had a Sash cause I'd've been protected.

I decide to attack straight up though after it breaks my sub with...Dragon Claw. Wasn't as much surprised at the sub breaking as I was by the attack...why would it use DC and not EQ? This directly factors into my decision to just go ahead and sacrifice Luke because if I switch Latios into a "random" Dragon Claw, I definitely lose, whereas I have a chance if I just sacrifice Luke. Or...did have a chance until Tyranitar shows itself as the third poke, and I pretty much am guaranteed to lose unless it's a variant without Crunch and I can CH, but no such "luck".

Fitting that I lose my highest streak to two of the three pokemon that compirse my "second best team", I guess...also it had just two battles before occurred to me that I could turn animations back on now, haha guess I'm scrapping that idea! Back to square one, I guess (really four though actually as of this post!!!) It's going to hit me somewhere between 4 and 268 though, I'll tell you that much...

thanks, yeah i know, the annoying part to me is the sheer amount of time it takes to get over 200 even with a 100% foolproof team (which likely doesnt even exist). i start runs with my star/tyra/chomp, and if paying full attention (meaning i'm not, say, typing a post on smogon and/or surfing the internet), a 7-battle run takes 12-14 minutes from "Welcome to the Battle Tower!" to "Welcome to the Battle Tower!". so even rounding up to 15 minutes a battle, it will take over 7 hours of 100% attention to get back to 200...and battles with my lopunny team take like 7-10 turns more on average since i have to set up so it will take even longer even without getting hacked, lol

I've had no trouble getting near 100 with a simple Starmie, Tyranitar, Garchomp team. I believe I could get to around 103 - 115 with such a team. However, it is a little bland and overused so I decided to create a new team.

Please help rate my new Diamond/Pearl Battle Tower team.

Bold means I need help/subject to change.

    Starters: (subject to change)

    Bench: (subject to change)

    [IMG] [IMG]

    [IMG] @ Choice Band

    Adamant
    --------
    Close Combat
    Brave Bird
    Return
    Aerial Ace

My speedy starter, not sure about Choice Band vs Choice Scarf.Covers a lot of ground with this moveset. Aerial Ace is there for the double teamers.
    [IMG] @ Leftovers

    Bold
    --------
    Pain Split
    Sludge Bomb
    Explosion
    Flamethrower

Comes in nicely when Staraptor falls. I'm not sure about the EV Spread right now but I'll work on it. Explosion is for the high special defense/resistant pokemon and to finish off their third pokemon.
    [IMG] @ Yache Berry

    Adamant
    --------
    Swords Dance
    Outrage
    Fire Fang
    Earthquake

He's very standard but very good in a finishing role. Yache Berry makes him tough to take down and adds some reliability as my last pokemon.

I'm thinking about substituting Tyranitar or Starmie for one of my starters. What do you all think would be the best choice, and how would he work the best?

If there are any weaknesses or glaring problems please point them out. Please respond to the bold questions.
