Monotype Dragalge (Dragon)

QC: Eien, Misaka Mikoto, Terrors

[OVERVIEW]

Dragon
========

* Dragalge is the only Dragon-type with access to Toxic Spikes, allowing it to spread the poisoned or badly poisoned status conditions to break down opposing teams.
* By virtue of its secondary Poison-typing, Dragalge is the only Dragon-type with a neutrality to Fairy-types, allowing it to pivot into Fairy-types such as Tapu Koko, Azumaril, and Tapu Bulu.
* Its average Special Attack is patched up by Adaptability, which boosts the power of STAB moves, as well as access to high-Base Power moves such as Draco Meteor.
* Dragalge has solid coverage options, such as Focus Blast enabling it to deal with Steel-types. They are, however, left rather weak due to Dragalge's underwhelming Special Attack and not being boosted by Adaptability.
* Unfortunately, Dragalge's defensive typing leaves it weak to common offensive types in Psychic-, Ground-, Dragon-, and Ice-types, being threatened by threats such as Mega Alakazam, Mamoswine, and Garchomp.
* Dragalge is additionally held back by its low Speed, which usually means that it takes a hit before doing anything in return; this is compounded by its lower Defense stat, leaving it weak to many physical attackers.
* Dragalge's lack of reliable recovery outside of Black Sludge severely hinders its ability to switch in repeatedly, taking chip damage from hazards and incoming moves.
* Finally, outside of Focus Blast and Hidden Power Fire, Dragalge has no reliable methods of hitting all Steel-types, meaning it must choose which Steel-types it wants to hit.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Draco Meteor is Dragalge's most powerful STAB move, allowing it to deal heavy damage against most opponents when backed by Adaptability.
* Sludge Wave acts as a secondary STAB move that hits Fairy-types such as Tapu Koko for super effective damage.
* Toxic Spikes is mandatory on this set, supporting offensive cleaners by weakening opposing teams and wearing down walls.
*Hidden Power Fire is Dragalge's most effective coverage option against Steel-Types such as Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.
*Focus Blast does the same damage to Ferrothorn as Hidden Power Fire and has the advantage of being able to hit Heatran, but this leaves Dragalge walled by Scizor and its low accuracy makes it unreliable.

Set Details
========

*Maximum Special Attack plus a Modest nature allows Dragalge to deal as much damage as possible to opposing Pokemon.
* 28 Speed allows Dragalge to outspeed Hippowdon, which Dragalge can OHKO with Draco Plate-boosted Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock most of the time.
* The remaining 228 EVs are put into HP, granting Dragalge as much mixed bulk as possible.
* Adaptability is Dragalge's best ability, doubling the power of its STAB moves.
* Draco Plate boosts the power of Draco Meteor, allowing Dragalge to guarantee the 2HKO on Mega Sableye.
* Black Sludge gives Dragalge passive recovery, although its Draco Meteor becomes noticeably weaker.

Usage Tips
========

* Take advantage of Dragalge's stellar typing by switching in on Fighting-, Bug-, and Fairy-types to force switches, providing Dragalge with an excellent opportunity to set up Toxic Spikes.
* Set up Toxic Spikes as soon as possible. One layer definitely helps weakening any Pokemon, but two layers can be devastating against more defensive teams.
* It's not worth setting Toxic Spikes against Poison-, Steel-, and Flying-type teams, as they are immune to its effects. Fire off one of Dragalge's powerful STAB moves instead.
* Sludge Wave is generally Dragalge's safest move, as it is boosted by Adaptability and does not lower its Special Attack each time it is used.
* Be careful of carelessly using Draco Meteor, as its stat drops prevent Dragalge's other moves from hitting their respective targets as effectively, forcing it to switch out.
* Dragalge can be used to absorb incoming Toxic, gaining momentum for its team.
* Avoid repeatedly switching Dragalge in on entry hazards, as it has no reliable recovery.
* Also avoid hard switching into physical attackers due to Dragalge's lacking physical bulk.

Team Options
========

* Hydreigon is a fantastic partner for Dragalge because it can switch in on Psychic and Ground attacks aimed at Dragalge, while Dragalge can deal with Fighting-, Bug-, and Fairy-types for Hydreigon. Hydreigon also appreciates Dragalge's ability to wear down walls with Toxic Spikes, granting Hydreigon an easier opportunity to break down walls.
* Kyurem-B acts as a great mixed wallbreaker, especially with its Ice-type STAB moves threatening opposing Ground- and Dragon-types like Hippowdon and Dragonite, and benefits from Toxic Spikes weakening its targets.
* As a physical wallbreaker, Dragonite greatly appreciates Pokemon such as Chansey being worn down through Toxic Spikes as well as the pressure Dragalge puts on many Fairy-types that threaten Dragonite.
* Garchomp can set up Stealth Rock, further weakening opposing teams along with Toxic Spikes. Its STAB Earthquake is an incredibly effective method of taking on Steel-types, such as Excadrill, Magearna, and Doublade, which Dragalge greatly struggles against.
* Latias is an excellent user of Defog, clearing up hazards to give Dragalge and its teammates more survivability. It also has access to other useful support moves in Healing Wish and Tailwind.
* Latios is a user of Defog with more offensive presence than Latias, while Choice Scarf Latios outspeeds and KOes almost all Dragon-types that threaten Dragalge, especially with the help of Toxic Spikes wearing down opponents.
* Dragon Dance Salamence is an excellent sweeper that appreciates Toxic Spikes wearing down opposing teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dragon
========

* A wallbreaker set can be run with Choice Specs and a coverage move over Toxic Spikes, but other Pokemon such as Hydreigon are better suited to this and Dragalge should focus on wearing down opposing teams with Toxic Spikes.
* Assault Vest takes advantage of Dragalge's excellent Special Defense, allowing it to survive hits such as Mew's Genesis Supernova. However, it prevents Dragalge from using moves such as Toxic Spikes.
* Scald can be used for its burn chance, weakening the power of physical switch-ins to Dragalge. However, this leaves more easily exploited by Steel-types and conflicts with Dragalge's ability to wear down teams with its Toxic Spikes.

Checks and Counters

Dragon
========

**Steel-types**: As Dragalge is incredibly dependent on its STAB moves to deal any reasonable damage, Steel-type Pokemon such as Magearna, Jirachi and Mega Scizor can take advantage of Dragalge's weaker coverage moves, coming in and forcing out Dragalge while they set up. Even though Heatran is hit hard by Focus Blast, it outspeeds Dragalge and 2HKOes with Earth Power.

**Ground-types**: While few Pokemon can reliably switch in on Dragalge's STAB moves, Ground-types such as Garchomp, Mamoswine, and Dugtrio can easily OHKO Dragalge with a super effective Earthquake. Excadrill can not only OHKO Dragalge with Earthquake, but it also has access to Rapid Spin and a Poison immunity, meaning it can easily remove Toxic Spikes for its teammates.

**Special Walls**: Special walls like Chansey and Celesteela take pitiful damage from Dragalge's moves, including Focus Blast. They can then stall out Dragalge with Soft-Boiled and Seismic Toss or Leech Seed and Heavy Slam, respectively.

**Faster Pokemon**: Fast Dragon-, Psychic-, and Ice-types such as Garchomp, Mega Alakazam, and Alolan Ninetales can all outspeed and KO Dragalge with their super effective moves.

**Physical Attackers**: Physical attackers such as Tyranitar, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Scizor can take advantage of Dragalge's lower Defense stat, either threatening to OHKO it outright or set up.

Now that my caffeine high has died down somewhat, I believe this is ready for QC. Keep in mind that this is my first ever analysis, so there is a possibility that I made some mistakes.

Note: Just realised i didn't really have any examples of Pokemon Dragalge deals with in the overview. Will add soon.

[OVERVIEW]

Dragon
========

* By virtue of its Dragon and Poison-typing as well as abpve average Special bulk, Dragalge acts as a decent Fairy-type check.
* Its average Special Attack is patched up by Adaptability, which boosts the power of STAB moves, as well as access to high Base Power moves such as Draco Meteor and Focus Blast. Focus blast doesnt benefit from adaptability, so it would be more suited to a bullet talking about its coverage moves.
* Dragalge is also the only Dragon-type with access to Toxic Spikes, allowing it to spread Poisoned or Badly Poisoned status conditions to break down opposing teams.
* Unfortunately, Dragalge's defensive typing leaves it weak to Psychic, Ground, Dragon, and Ice types, all of which are rather common offensive typings.
* Dragalge is additionally held back by its low speed, which usually means that it takes a hit before doing anything in return, and its lower Defense stat, leaving it weak to many physical attackers. With no reliable recovery, Dragalge is very weak to being worn down. Mention its lack of reliable recovery in its own bullet.
* Finally, outside of Focus Blast and Hidden Power Fire, Dragalge has no reliable methods of hitting all Steel-types, meaning it must choose which Steel-types it wants to hit.
* Despite its flaws, Dragalge offers a valuable combination of a decent defensive and offensive typing, an incredible ability in Adaptability, and Toxic Spikes that no other Pokemon can provide.

Draco should be the first on the set, followed by sludge wave. T-spikes can be third or fourth.

Moves
========

* Toxic Spikes is mandatory on this set, granting Dragalge's teammates an easier time breaking through walls.
* Draco Meteor is Dragalge's most powerful STAB move, allowing it to deal heavy damage against most opponents when backed by Adaptability.
* Sludge Wave acts as a secondary STAB move that hits most Grass and Fairy-types for super effective damage. Sludge Wave is mainly just for hitting fairy types, grass types have a tough time with dragon teams anyway.
* The fourth moveslot depends on which Steel-types Dragalge needs to hit. Focus Blast hits Pokemon like Heatran and Ferrothorn hard, while Hidden Power Fire does more damage to Pokemon like Forretress and Mega Scizor. Ferrothorn is hit for the same damage from both HP fire and focus blast. In general, HP fire is basically only for scizor, focus blast hits everything else anyway.
* Scald can be used instead to threaten any physical switch-ins as well as Pokemon immune to Toxic Spikes, but Dragalge generally appreciates ways to hit Steel-types super effectively much more.

Set Details
========

* Adaptability is Dragalge's best ability, greatly improving the power of its STAB moves.
*Maximum Special Attack plus a Modest nature allows Dragalge to deal as much damage as possible to opposing Pokemon.
* 200 HP/56 SpD grants Dragalge as much special bulk as possible, allowing it to survive Mega Alakazam's Psychic 44% of the time if it has not traced Dragalge's Adaptability as well as potentially survive Mew's Genesis Supernova.
* Black Sludge provides Dragalge with passive recovery, as it has no other reliable options.
* Draco Plate, on the other hand, boosts the power of Draco Meteor, allowing Dragalge to secure OHKOes on Pokemon such as Mega Alakazam.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Dragalge's stellar typing to your advantage, switching in on Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-types to force switches. This provides Dragalge with an excellent opportunity to set up Toxic Spikes.
* Draco Meteor is generally Dragalge's safest move, as Fairy-types are the only true Pokemon who can switch in on it. Even at -2, Adaptability-boosted Draco Meteor deals respectable damage, especially when combined with Draco Plate. Draco isnt the safest move, since it is forced to switch once it uses it. Sludge wave is what you would be using against safe targets.
* Be careful of carelessly using Draco Meteor, as its stat drops prevent Dragalge's other moves from hitting their respective targets as effectively. Also forces it to switch out.
* If needed, Dragalge can be used to absorb incoming Toxic as well as remove Toxic Spikes, although this may put it in an uncomfortable situation.

Team Options
========

* Hydreigon is a fantastic partner for Dragalge. Hydreigon can switch in on Psychic and Ground attacks aimed at Dragalge, while Dragalge can deal with Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-types for Hydreigon. Hydreigon also appreciates Dragalge's ability to wear down walls with Toxic Spikes, granting Hydreigon an easier opportunity to wallbreak.
* Garchomp can set up Stealth Rock, further weakening opposing teams along with Toxic Spikes. Its STAB Earthquake is an incredibly effective method of taking on Steel-types, which Dragalge greatly struggles against.
* Latias is an excellent user of Defog, clearing up hazards allowing Dragalge and its teammates more survivability. It also has access to other useful support moves in Healing Wish and Tailwind.
* Latios as a more offensive defogger
* Kyurem-B acts as a great mixed wallbreaker, especially with its Ice-type STAB moves threatening opposing Ground-types.
* As a physical wallbreaker, Dragonite greatly appreciates Pokemon being worn down through Toxic Spikes as well as the pressure Dragalge puts on many Fairy-types that threaten Dragonite.

Dragon
========

* Haze can be run to disrupt set-up Pokemon from sweeping. In tandem with Icium Z, Z-Haze provides semi-reliable recovery for Dragalge, at the cost of coverage.
* Venoshock seems appealing when used with Toxic Spikes to greatly damage Poisoned opponents. It is generally not recommended, however, as it deals less damage than Sludge Wave against healthy opponents and is less consistent overall. Not worth it imo. Remove.
* Hydro Pump deals significantly more damage than Scald, but Scald's Burn chance is generally more useful due to Dragalge's lower Defense stat.
* A wallbreaker set can be run with Choice Specs and a coverage move over Toxic Spikes, but more teammates appreciate Dragalge's ability to wear down opposing teams Toxic spikes.
* Assault Vest

**Psychic-Types**: While no Psychic-type can switch into Dragalge's STAB moves, Pokemon such as Mega Alakazam, Latios, and Mew are nearly guaranteed to OHKO with their Psychic STAB moves.

**Ground-Types**: While few Pokemon can reliably switch in on Dragalge's STAB moves, Ground-types such as Garchomp, Landorus-T and Dugtrio can easily OHKO Dragalge with a super effective Earthquake. Excadrill can not only OHKO Dragalge with Earthquake, but it also has access to Rapid Spin and a Poison immunity, removing Toxic Spikes for its teammates.

**Fighting-Resistant Steel-Types**: As Dragalge is dependent on Focus Blast to have any hope against the majority of Steel-types, Pokemon that are resistant to it such as Magearna, Jirachi and Mega Scizor can come in and force out Dragalge. Doublade deserves a special mention for being immune to Focus Blast, Sludge Wave, and Toxic Spikes, only fearing a burn from Scald. None of them resist it, just say that they dont take much damage from it. Also mention that all of them can set up on it.

**Special Walls**: Special walls like Chansey and Celesteela take pitiful damage from Dragalge's moves, including Focus Blast. They can then stall out Dragalge with Soft-Boiled and Seismic Toss or Leech Seed and Heavy Slam, respectively.

**Ice-types**:

**Dragon-types**:

[OVERVIEW]

Dragon
========

* By virtue of its Dragon and Poison-typing as well as abpve average Special bulk, Dragalge acts as a decent Fairy-type check. It's Dragon / Poison typing, not Dragon and Poison typing. Dragalge has pretty good special bulk, with 123 SpD, and I would say it's a good Fairy check, especially since the only Pokemon on Fairy that carry STAB super effective coverage are Gardevoir and Alolan Ninetales, both of which are not standard on Fairy.
* Its average Special Attack is patched up by Adaptability, which boosts the power of STAB moves, as well as access to high Base Power moves such as Draco Meteor and Focus Blast. The wording makes this confusing to read and Focus Blast doesn't get boosted by Adaptability. You can make a new bullet about Dragalge's good coverage options such as Focus Blast and HP Fire, etc.
* Dragalge is also the only Dragon-type with access to Toxic Spikes, allowing it to spread Poisoned or Badly Poisoned status conditions to break down opposing teams.
* A point about how Dragalge helps to manage Trick Room teams because of Dragon's common team comps.
* This wasn't explicitly stated, but Dragalge is the only legal Dragon-type that is neutral to Fairy, which is significant.

* Unfortunately, Dragalge's defensive typing leaves it weak to Psychic, Ground, Dragon, and Ice types, all of which are rather common offensive typings. It's Psychic-, Ground-, Dragon-, and Ice-types.
* Dragalge is additionally held back by its low speed, which usually means that it takes a hit before doing anything in return, and its lower Defense stat, leaving it weak to many physical attackers. With no reliable recovery, Dragalge is very weak to being worn down. The second sentence can be its own bullet point. Its only form of viable recovery is in the form of Black Sludge, so you can note that as well.
Fluff

Moves
========

* Toxic Spikes is mandatory on this set, granting Dragalge's teammates an easier time breaking through walls. What walls do T Spikes break that can be a problem for Dragon teams?
* Draco Meteor is Dragalge's most powerful STAB move, allowing it to deal heavy damage against most opponents when backed by Adaptability. It would be foes, not opponents. Examples?
* Sludge Wave acts as a secondary STAB move that hits most Grass and Fairy-types for super effective damage. Grass- and Fairy-types. Examples?
* The fourth moveslot depends on which Steel-types Dragalge needs to hit. Unnecessary. Already stated this in Overview. Focus Blast hits Pokemon like Heatran and Ferrothorn hard, while Hidden Power Fire does more damage to Pokemon like Forretress and Mega Scizor. Focus Blast and Hidden Power Fire should receive their own bullet points as with the previous moves. Change the example of Ferrothorn for Focus Blast to something else since HP Fire does the same amount of damage, but without a chance of missing. You don't need to only list Steel-types here so make sure you have examples from different types.
* Scald can be used instead to threaten any physical switch-ins as well as Pokemon immune to Toxic Spikes, but Dragalge generally appreciates ways to hit Steel-types super effectively much more. I think this would be OO, but let QC decide. It does let you burn Flying-, Poison-, and Steel-types as well as levitate mons, but generally you'd want to go for making use of T Spikes.

Set Details
========

* Adaptability is Dragalge's best ability, greatly improving the power of its STAB moves. Just say doubling the power of its STAB moves.
* Maximum Special Attack plus a Modest nature allows Dragalge to deal as much damage as possible to opposing Pokemon.
* 200 HP/56 SpD grants Dragalge as much special bulk as possible, allowing it to survive Mega Alakazam's Psychic 44% of the time if it has not traced Dragalge's Adaptability as well as potentially survive Mew's Genesis Supernova. These two stats should be separated into their own bullet. 200 HP is allowing for a large amount of mixed defensive bulk, while 56 SpD is putting the rest of your EVs available into that stat to maximize its special bulk.
* Black Sludge provides Dragalge with passive recovery, as it has no other reliable options.
* Draco Plate, on the other hand, boosts the power of Draco Meteor, allowing Dragalge to secure OHKOes on Pokemon such as Mega Alakazam.

Usage Tips
========

* Use Dragalge's stellar typing to your advantage, switching in on Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-types to force switches. This provides Dragalge with an excellent opportunity to set up Toxic Spikes. You can probably just combine the two sentences.
* Draco Meteor is generally Dragalge's safest move, as Fairy-types are the only true Pokemon who can switch in on it. Even at -2, Adaptability-boosted Draco Meteor deals respectable damage, especially when combined with Draco Plate.
* Be careful of carelessly using Draco Meteor, as its stat drops prevent Dragalge's other moves from hitting their respective targets as effectively.
* If needed, Dragalge can be used to absorb incoming Toxic as well as remove Toxic Spikes, although this may put it in an uncomfortable situation.
* Avoid repeatedly switching in on entry hazards since it lacks recovery.
* Avoid hard switching into physical threats because of Dragalge's poor physical bulk.

Team Options
========

* Hydreigon is a fantastic partner for Dragalge. Hydreigon because it can switch in on Psychic and Ground attacks aimed at Dragalge, while Dragalge can deal with Fighting, Bug, and Fairy-types for Hydreigon. Hydreigon also appreciates Dragalge's ability to wear down walls with Toxic Spikes, granting Hydreigon an easier opportunity to wallbreak. What Pokemon is it wallbreaking?
* Garchomp can set up Stealth Rock, further weakening opposing teams along with Toxic Spikes. Its STAB Earthquake is an incredibly effective method of taking on Steel-types, which Dragalge greatly struggles against. Examples?
* Latias is an excellent user of Defog, clearing up hazards allowing Dragalge and its teammates more survivability. It also has access to other useful support moves in Healing Wish and Tailwind.
* Kyurem-B acts as a great mixed wallbreaker, especially with its Ice-type STAB moves threatening opposing Ground-types. Examples?
* As a physical wallbreaker, Dragonite greatly appreciates Pokemon being worn down through Toxic Spikes as well as the pressure Dragalge puts on many Fairy-types that threaten Dragonite.

* Haze can be run to disrupt set-up Pokemon from sweeping. In tandem with Icium Z, Z-Haze provides semi-reliable recovery for Dragalge, at the cost of coverage. I wouldn't call Z Haze reliable recovery since it's a one chance deal. Also, I think Dragalge would need a significant investment into speed for Haze to be useful in just about any situation, since most setup threats outspeed you.
* Venoshock seems appealing when used with Toxic Spikes to greatly damage Poisoned opponents. It is generally not recommended, however, as it deals less damage than Sludge Wave against healthy opponents and is less consistent overall.
* Hydro Pump deals significantly more damage than Scald, but Scald's Burn chance is generally more useful due to Dragalge's lower Defense stat.

Implemented much of what iLlama and HNBL said. The one thing I am uncertain about is removing Venoshock from OO. While it is incredibly unreliable, I feel that it can greatly damage poisoned targets. I will leave that one to QC. I also removed the mention about surviving Mew's Genesis Supernova. I accidentally calced for no special attack investment, but Dragalge most definitely does not survive it with max investment. Also unsure whether or not to capitalize "traced" because it is Mega Alakazam's ability.

Overview:
- Honestly wouldn't bother mentioning Trick Room here.
- Remove Scald and Hidden Power Fire from the list of coverage.
- I'd append to your line about Adaptability that Dragalge's coverage moves are quite weak as a result of its average Special Attack.
- The first line needs to be about Toxic Spikes because that's really the main reason you use Dragalge at all.

Set:
- EVs need to be fixed. I don't know what 200 HP does. 28 Speed allows you to outspeed Hippowdon and OHKO it with Draco Plate-boosted Draco Meteor after Stealth Rock almost every time. The rest of the EVs can go into HP. It's more efficient than boosting that already very high Special Defense.
- Draco Plate is more important because Dragalge needs all the damage it can get. (Also gets that OHKO on Hippowdon)
- Losing to Mega Scizor is way worse than losing to Heatran. Hidden Power Fire should be the 4th move almost every time.

[SET]
name: Offensive Toxic Spikes (Dragon)
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Sludge Wave
move 3: Toxic Spikes
move 4: Hidden Power Fire
item: Draco Plate / Black Sludge
ability: Adaptability
nature: Modest
evs: 228 HP / 252 SpA / 28 Spe

Moves:
- Use Tapu Koko as a Sludge Wave example, since Dragalge easily switches into even Hidden Power Ice and threatens to OHKO back.
- Hidden Power Fire isn't less powerful against other Steel-types. While, it leaves Dragalge powerless against Heatran, Focus Blast leaves it walled by Mega Scizor, which is a much bigger threat that cannot be ignored. Also, Hidden Power Fire does exactly the same damage to Ferrothorn as Focus Blast. Not "similar".
- You can keep Focus Blast in this section, though, because it does hit Heatran.
- Remove Scald.

Set Details:
- Fix the EV spread.
- And the item order. Also, Draco Plate guarantees the 2HKO on Mega Sableye with Draco Meteor.

Usage Tips:
- Definitely talk about getting Toxic Spikes up as soon as possible. Getting at least one layer up is very important, a second is even better.
- Do think about whether it's worth it to set Toxic Spikes, though. Teams with an opposing Poison-type are not very threatened by Toxic Spikes, so it may be better to just fire off a powerful STAB attack instead.
- "although this may put it in an uncomfortable situation." switching into Toxic should be favorable? You gain momentum. W.r.t to opposing Toxic Spikes, you probably wouldn't ever because only Garchomp and Kyurem-B are even affected by it at all.

Team Options:
- Note that Choice Scarf Latios outspeeds and KOes almost all Dragon-types that threaten Dragalge.
- Kyurem-B is outsped by Garchomp and Landorus, both of which can OHKO it with either Outrage or Focus Blast, respectively.
- Add Salamence as a Dragon Dance sweeper that very much appreciates Toxic Spikes to help it sweep effectively.

Other Options:
- Remove Haze.
- Remove Venoshock
- Remove Hydro Pump
- Remove Dragon Pulse
- Remove Dragon Tail
- Add Scald

Checks and Counters:
- Just say Steel-types. Dragalge struggles with almost all of them no matter what. Even Heatran 2HKOes Dragalge before Dragalge 2HKOes it with Focus Blast.
- I'd remove Dragon-types, Psychic-types, and Ice-types and put them in a blanket "Faster Pokemon" section.

QC 1/3
Consider the changes implemented. Please feel free to go over again if I happened to miss any of your points.

[Overview]:
* By virtue of its Dragon/Poison-typing as well as a great Special Defense stat, Dragalge also acts as a good Fairy-, Grass-, and Fighting-type check, threatening Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, and Keldeo.
+ This is more directed towards its Poison typing more than its Special Defense stat in this sentence. Add that its Special Defense stat makes it a good defensive pivot on Dragon teams.

[Moves]:
*Hidden Power Fire is Dragalge's most effective coverage option against Steel-Types. Focus Blast can be used for Heatran, but otherwise Dragalge would be walled by Mega Scizor.
+ List examples for Hidden Power Fire such as Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn.
+ Make an extra bullet under Hidden Power Fire stating what Focus Blast does since they shouldn't be on the same line.

[Set Details]:
* Adaptability is Dragalge's best ability, doubling the power of its STAB moves.
+ Move this down under the EVs that are being listed.

[Team Options]:
* Kyurem-B acts as a great mixed wallbreaker, especially with its Ice-type STAB moves threatening opposing Ground- and Dragon-types like Dragonite and Hippowdon.
+ Switch Dragonite and Hippowdon to correspond to the type listing in the sentence.

[Checks and Counters]:
**Steel-Types**: As Dragalge is incredibly dependent on its STAB moves to deal any reasonable damage, Steel-type Pokemon such as Magearna, Jirachi and Mega Scizor can take advantage of Dragalge's weaker coverage moves, coming in and forcing out Dragalge while they set up. Even while Heatran is hit hard by Focus Blast, it outspeeds Dragalge and 2HKOes it before Dragalge can 2HKO back.
+ With what in specific?
**Physical Attackers**: Physical attackers can take advantage of Dragalge's lower Defense stat, either threatening to OHKO it outright or set up.
+ Give some examples.

Consider it done. Ready for check 3!

[OVERVIEW]

* By virtue of its secondary Poison-typing, Dragalge also acts as a good Fairy-, Grass-, and Fighting-type check, while its high Special Defense allows it to pivot into threatening Pokemon such as Tapu Koko, Tapu Bulu, Mega Venusaur, and Keldeo.
- Resisting Grass and Fighting is pretty irrelevant; make sure you make the Fairy neutrality a bit more prominent.
* Its average Special Attack is patched up by Adaptability, which boosts the power of STAB moves, as well as access to high Base Power moves such as Draco Meteor. However, Dragalge is left with rather weak coverage due to it's lacking Special Attack.
- 'However, Dragalge is left with rather weak coverage due to it's lacking Special Attack.' Add this to the next line instead (Reword it slightly obviously):
* Dragalge has solid coverage options, such as Focus Blast enabling it to deal with Steel-types.

Moves

* Toxic Spikes is mandatory on this set, granting Dragalge's teammates an easier time breaking through walls.
- Toxic Spikes is mainly for supporting offensive cleaners like Latios so mention that for sure.

Set Details

* Draco Plate boosts the power of Draco Meteor, allowing Dragalge to OHKO Mega Alakazam and guarentee the 2HKO on Mega Sableye
- Mega Alakazam has a very huge chance to lose to non-Draco Plate Draco Meteor too though.
252+ SpA Adaptability Dragalge Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Alakazam-Mega: 244-288 (97.2 - 114.7%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Team Options

- Dragonite and Salamence aren't the only ones which appreciate Toxic Spikes; stuff like Latios and Kyurem-B love it too so make sure you mention those too.

Checks and Counters

**Physical Attackers**: Physical attackers such as Mega Metagross, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Scizor can take advantage of Dragalge's lower Defense stat, either threatening to OHKO it outright or set up.
- Mega Metagross is banned.

[OVERVIEW]

Dragon
========

* Dragalge is the only Dragon-type with access to Toxic Spikes, allowing it to spread the poisoned or badly poisoned status conditions to break down opposing teams, as well as being the only legal Dragon-type that takes neutral damage from Fairy-types.
* By virtue of its secondary Poison typing, Dragalge is the only Dragon-type with a neutrality to Fairy-types, allowing it to pivot into Fairy-types such as Tapu Koko, Azumaril, and Tapu Bulu.
* Unfortunately, Dragalge's defensive typing leaves it weak to common offensive typings types in Psychic-, Ground-, Dragon-, and Ice-types, being threatened by threats such as Mega Alakazam, Mamoswine, and Garchomp.
* Dragalge is additionally held back by its low Speed, which usually means that it takes a hit before doing anything in return; (SC) this is compounded by and its lower Defense stat, leaving it weak to many physical attackers.

[SET]
name: Offensive Toxic Spikes (Dragon)
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Sludge Wave
move 3: Toxic Spikes
move 4: Hidden Power Fire
item: Draco Plate/Black Sludge
ability: Adaptability
nature: Modest
evs: 228 HP/252 SpA/ 28 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Set Details
========

* The remaining 228 ev's EVs are put into HP, granting Dragalge as much mixed bulk as possible.

Usage Tips
========

* Take advantage of Dragalge's stellar typing by switching in on Fighting-, Bug-, and Fairy-types to force switches, providing Dragalge with an excellent opportunity to set up Toxic Spikes.
* Set up Toxic Spikes as soon as possible. One layer most definitely helps weakening down any Pokemon, but two layers can be devastating against more defensive teams.
* Avoid repeatedly switching Dragalge in on entry hazards, (AC) as it has no reliable recovery.
* Also avoid hard switching into physical attackers due to Dragalge's lacking physical bulk.

Team Options
========

* Garchomp can set up Stealth Rock, further weakening opposing teams along with Toxic Spikes. Its STAB Earthquake is an incredibly effective method of taking on Steel-types, such as Excadrill, Magearna, and Doublade, which Dragalge greatly struggles against.
* Latias is an excellent user of Defog, clearing up hazards allowing to give Dragalge and its teammates more survivability . It also has access to other useful support moves in Healing Wish and Tailwind.
* Latios is a user of Defog with more offensive presence than Latias, while Choice Scarf Latios outspeeds and KOes almost all Dragon-types that threaten Dragalge, especially with the help of Toxic Spikes wearing down opponents.
move kyurem-B and dragonite up. Wallbreakers are the ones that benefit from tspikes, right?
* Kyurem-B acts as a great mixed wallbreaker, especially with its Ice-type STAB moves threatening opposing Ground- and Dragon-types like Hippowdon and Dragonite, while also benefiting and benefits from Toxic Spikes weakening its targets.
* As a physical wallbreaker, Dragonite greatly appreciates Pokemon such as Chansey being worn down through Toxic Spikes as well as the pressure Dragalge puts on many Fairy-types that threaten Dragonite.
* Dragon Dance Salamence is an excellent sweeper that appreciates Toxic Spikes wearing down opposing teams.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Dragon
========

* A wallbreaker set can be run with Choice Specs and a coverage move over Toxic Spikes, but other Pokemon such as LATIAS?? are better suited to this and Dragalge should focus on more teammates appreciate Dragalge's ability to wearing down opposing teams with Toxic Spikes.
* Assault Vest takes advantage of Dragalge's excellent Special Defense, allowing it to survive hits such as Mew's Genesis Supernova. However, it prevents Dragalge from using moves such as Toxic Spikes, leaving it more vulnerable to special walls. Is there any point to such a set with no Tspikes?
* Scald can be used for its burn chance, weakening the power of physical switch-ins to Dragalge. However, this leaves more easily exploited by Steel-types and conflicts with Dragalge's ability to wear down teams with its Toxic Spikes.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dragon
========

**Steel-types**: As Dragalge is incredibly dependent on its STAB moves to deal any reasonable damage, Steel-type Pokemon such as Magearna, Jirachi, (AC) and Mega Scizor can take advantage of Dragalge's weaker coverage moves, coming in and forcing out Dragalge while they set up. Even while though Heatran is hit hard by Focus Blast, it outspeeds Dragalge and 2HKOes it with Earth Power before Dragalge can 2HKO back.

**Ground-types**: While few Pokemon can reliably switch in on Dragalge's STAB moves, Ground-types such as Garchomp, Mamoswine, (AC) and Dugtrio can easily OHKO Dragalge with a super effective Earthquake. Excadrill can not only OHKO Dragalge with Earthquake, but it also has access to Rapid Spin and a Poison immunity, meaning it can easily remove removing Toxic Spikes for its teammates.

I am a little confused on this one. Do you wish to clarify?

The point of using dragalge at all is to: set up toxic spikes. Why would anybody actually use dragalge if you can't use toxic spikes? this goes for both specs and av sets. If you want a bulky dragon attacker, just use like...anything else.

I'm fine with Assault Vest and Choice Specs in OO. Although Dragalge's main selling point is access to Toxic Spikes, Assault Vest sets actually let it switch into Fairy-type Pokemon like Togekiss without getting worn down too quickly and Choice Specs sets capitalize on its wallbreaking potential. Dragon teams generally have a lack of strong bulky wallbreakers, consisting mainly of fast sweepers / late-game cleaners like Latios along with wallbreakers like Kyurem-B which rarely run bulky sets.

You can change the title, yes. Eien can decide whether AV and Choice Specs should be in OO or not before uploading.

Agree with terrors. If you're curious for a long answer GatoDelFuego

Assault Vest and Choice Specs are viable mainly for making the Magearna matchup much better, which Dragon normally has almost no chance of beating. Shift Gear Magearna is the main threat that Dragon struggles with, as it cannot be stopped after it sets up against most teams (the others are outsped and much easier to handle). However, even without Assault Vest, Dragalge survives Twinkle Tackle. Choice Specs lets Dragalge actually deal enough damage to take it out. Magearna is pretty much never going to set up completely safely, so it's very reasonable to assume something like Kyurem-B's Earth Power will get in a hit. Assault Vest Dragalge on the other hand can stop Magearna even if it uses Twinkle Tackle to get a Soul-Heart boost against a teammate and then uses Fleur Cannon twice on Dragalge, choosing to cripple its Special Attack while dealing less damage back of course.

Furthermore, both sets are actually better than the Toxic Spikes set in other matchups as well but it's usually situational. Because Choice Specs Dragalge can run both Focus Blast and Hidden Power Fire, Steel's switch-ins are Celesteela and Magearna, both of which Dragon loves getting chip damage on. Poison doesn't have a really solid switch-in to Choice Specs either outside of Alolan Muk, which lacks recovery. Assault Vest also lets Dragalge successfully beat certain attackers such as Latios in the Dragon mirror matchup. Assault Vest also makes the Electric matchup much easier because it is one of the only viable Tapu Koko switch-ins and is a much better option than Goodra overall.

Obviously, Toxic Spikes is Dragalge's main niche, which is why these alternative item options are listed only in Other Options. In defending them, it may sound like they may deserve a set, but actually using them to fulfill their purposes can be pretty difficult. They're naturally much less reliable. It's pretty nuanced but definitely legitimate, so I'm keeping both items in the analysis.
